He wasn’t supposed to come back yet. No one is ready for him. He has nothing to lose, no one he trusts, and revenge on his mind.
Not exactly the insta-boyfriend you were promised he would be.
Ashley took the knife home as a joke, but there’s nothing funny about her attraction to an angry and possibly homicidal utensil.
Maybe some knives deserve to be left in the drawer.
His lack of memory of the events that led to his unit being trapped in silverware isn’t cutting it.
Ray is the reason your mother always told you to be careful with knives. Play with him and he might hurt you without even meaning to.
But when danger starts circling, and you need protection, it’s wiser to reach for a knife than a spoon.
Cautionary The humor in this novella is sharp. Not for the thin-skinned. Please be aware that all of the scenes are fictional and should not be tried at home. Not even my editor would act them out to check for feasibility. Extreme care should be employed when considering viewing a knife as a potential mate.
Ruth Cardello hit the NYTs and USA Today for the first time back in 2012. Millions of sales are evidence that her books are akin to potato chips, addictive from the first one. She has created a multi-series billionaire world with a combination of escapism and realism that has gained her a faithful following of readers.
What Kindle Reviewers write about her:
"Wow hot at every page. Heart stoping, fear raging, mind blowing wonderful."
"I'm a true fan of Ms. Cardello. I ran on to her first book a few years back and have been hooked ever since. I could go on and on about the story like of this book, but I'm not. All of her books are total page turners, unique, heart wrenching, and I love them all. There isn't two alike in the bunch and I feel like i know the characters personally. I personally read 97 authors books. And I buy every book they put out. This author is in my top 10. Great job and keep them coming."
"Love this series. Got me to start reading again. I look forward to the next book. Thank you for giving me the love of reading back."
Ruth Cardello was born the youngest of 11 children in a small city in northern Rhode Island. She spent her young adult years moving as far away as she could from her large extended family. She lived in Boston, Paris, Orlando, New York--then came full circle and moved back to New England. She now happily lives one town over from the one she was born in. For her, family trumped the warmer weather and international scene.
She was an educator for 20 years, the last 11 as a kindergarten teacher. When her school district began cutting jobs, Ruth turned a serious eye toward her second love- writing and has never been happier. When she's not writing, you can find her chasing her children around her small farm or connecting with her readers online.

The end for now?? This series better live on forever Ms. Cardello because I swear these are so much fun! Ashley's mom deserves some fun after working so hard and a why choose with cutlery seems like the logical next step in my humble opinion😅 There are so many options for spinoffs.. a Ladle romance perhaps? a spatula? or hear me out.. a piping bag??? Endless possibilities you know😂
Listen I love these super soldier cutlery men ok and I have zero shame🤚 Ray's backstory was the saddest and he deserved some happiness with Ashley who absolutely killed it with the knife puns 10/10👌 We finally got some answers as to why and how these men were turned into silverware and I'm so invested in their futures I swear😂😂 This is genuinely a lighthearted good time with cheesy and corny but such sweet moments. This is not meant to be taken seriously and if you do, that's on you lol. ---------------------------------------------------- The Cutlery Saga ends a month from now 😞
Watching an erotica book turning away from erotica and into good book with good plot territory. It is undoubtedly better than the first two books, it made me think that this series just gets better each book! I loved the character of Ray and how drugs affected him when he's transported and the many misunderstanding with the 3 super soldiers. I also loved the final ending that closes this really gud series and provides closure to every character arc unlike books where it puts you on a cliffhanger even if its literally the series end.
As predicted my least favourite of the bunch. This trilogy was not as fun or silly as I had expected, but I think my issues are mostly with miss Cardello herself and our very different outlooks on men, women and relationships. So I'm not ready to give up on the genre just yet, I'll just have to try a different author.
These books are lowkey anti modern men in a way I find offensive and really romantise and glamourise "old fashioned men" in a way to only exist in the imagination of the author and her fans. The whole asshole with a heart of gold nonesense that has caused a lot of grief in the real world and a lot of stereotyping of men.
One quote that neatly sums it up was when Ray, upon learning that the cutlery was being turned into men by having sex with them, asked Ashley if that meant they were prostitutes. Not the weirdest leap to make, it kind of makes sense. However when she then retorts with "so what if I am?" (she isn't btw), he says that that is okay because he wouldn't judge a woman for doing what she needed to do to survive and Ashley replies with "that's a really good answer!". Except that it isn't! It implies he very much judges women and very patronisingly thinks they can't make their own decisions about their own life, work and sexuality, but he's willing to forgive them if their situation was dire enough. It's disgusting.
I also hated the bit where a severely traumatised man who was blindly lashing out and panicking was instantly calmed when a woman flashed him her tits. Or when the guy who was supposed to be helping out was forgiven for making a pass at the women he was supposed to look after because and I quote "men, right?!".
I think Cardello just writes the type of misandrist, glorification of toxic traits that give a lot of romance a bad name and I should stay far away from her. She does have good ideas for concepts though, even after all of this I'm still curious what she'll do with part 4, though I doubt I'll like it. But being as curious as I am, I might hateread it. Not proud of myself.
In this 'utensil' series (as I like to refer to it), I enjoyed "Knifed" the most. I liked the flaws of the warrior who came from a knife. I found the interplay of science fiction and romance to be most entertaining. I am eagerly anticipating a final book to wrap up the loose ends left by Ms. Cardello. I believe I have read almost all (if not all) of her other books and find her writing style to be enjoyable and worth a read (or two). As she herself noted, this 'utensil" series is quite the departure from her usual storytelling but a fun series nevertheless! I was given an advance copy of this book to read and review; I did not receive any type of compensation.
The Sequel to Forked and Spooned, I am rating this book the same because I love the plot but I wasn't as invested in Ashley and Ray as a couple. Their romance was meh.
The sequel to Forked and Spooned, I am still going to give this a 3 star rating but I wasn't as sold on the romance of Ray and Ashley. Maybe that is because the plot was heavy and needed to answer the ultimate question. How did these American supersoldiers in WWII find themselves locked in antique silverware for eighty plus years?
Looking forward to the bonus book in the story with Ashley's mothet. The doctor that can help all these supersoldiers successfully live in modern times.
A sexy 🔪 indeed... I did enjoy Ray, but the romance aspect felt flat 🥞. Or just, idk, not the same. The hilarity, gone, as I was kinda bored throughout the middle with the additional side stories. Don't get me started on the robot parts that were thrown in.
I still apparently need to be serviced to conclusion though, so onto book four...
Book three of the fun, fantasy utensil series and it’s the turn of the hot headed, dangerous Ray trapped in a knife. Ashley the robotic genius is the one who gets the knife and has to be his calming influence. Ray is one violent super soldier and unlike the previous books he can change himself from a knife to human without Ashley always being around. There are some flirty, sexy moments and some super soldier brawls. Loved the suspense, what exactly is inkwell, how does the mob know about the super soldiers and who exactly is good and who is bad. The plot is developing into a great story as more characters are introduced. If you want to read something a bit different but still with Ruth’s great story telling you will love this series.
Ashley chose the knife. Meredith had no idea Hugh and Jack meant for Ray to come back last, so when Ashley took the scarred knife, they had to intervene. But once he was awakened, Ray seemed to be able to become human on his own, though he definitely felt a connection with Ashley. Will Ray learn to trust his comrades, or will his rashness doom them all?
After 3 (short) books of teasing, I really wanted to finish the governmental experiment subplot of this story. I wanted to learn who was following them, how they would react, and if they would need to flee. And we got the answers, though they were very disappointing. For a 100-page story, it had way too many useless chapters and boring subplots. The robot's scene should have never happened. I get that the book is completely ridiculous, but this was over-the-top silly and uninteresting. The book could have been 50 pages and it would be exactly the same. The "mystery" gets resolved in the last chapter, in a rushed manner that left me feeling cheated. But most of all, I disliked Ashley immensely. Her condescending judgment of Mercedes made me feel icky, and I was so over her feeling superior to her and putting her down 3-4 times in a conversation. She had a bit of a pick-me, "not like other girls" energy, and her using her body to get what she wants from her coworkers is not the flex she thinks it is.
Spoilers ahead
There were other story developments that weirded me out:
This was a disappointing way to end what was a funny, lighthearted story full of puns and silly conversations.
Although this is the 3rd utensil to be brought back, this series has not gotten any less bizarre. Ashley has finally been convinced that everyone is not drugged, confused, or crazy, and her own knife by the name of Ray is suddenly connected to her.
This was a lighthearted, witty romance. In addition, it was full of intrigue, some mystery, action, danger, and suspense. I should not forget the heat! The scene with the 3 soldiers was crazy.
I did not expect the introduction of another player. I did have my suspicion about a secondary member of the group. It was also a nice addition to have their powers evolve. I liked Ashley's mother, and tbh, I don't think she had a name other then Ashley's mother.
The ending was also somewhat explosive, lol. It wasn't exactly a cliffhanger, but it made me realize we were not quite done with the utensils! I am.looking forward to what happens next.
This is book three in the quirky and fun lighthearted utensil romance. Ashley takes a knife home with her. Ray, the most angry of the super soldiers, has been brought back from the silverware. There is a huge fight between the three men, before something drastic happens to Ray. Ashley calls her mum, Lauren, who is a doctor. She manages to get blood samples and runs tests. When she comes back, she injects Ray with antibiotics to keep him alive. There are still dangers for the couples, and a surprising visitor turns up towards the end of the book. Although somethings are sorted, there are still many questions to be answered. What exactly happens to Ashley’s mum? Hopefully all the answers will be in the final book, Serviced. A fabulous read once again by Ruth. She never disappoints, and this is highly recommended. It helps if you have read the first two though.
I know we've already covered the 3 major types of cutlery, but I want more of these and I'm very glad it was left open for a potential continuation. What more do you need in life than a story about a girl falling in love with an 80-year-old telepathic knife, and then randomly fighting the mob on the mean streets of Rhode Island?
I liked this book so far out of the 3 stories. It’s so funny because going into this series, I thought it was a book series about intercourse with utensils, but the super soldier mystery plot is actually entertaining. I enjoy the way the books have flown together and it’s been great world building and character relations. I’m excited for the next one.
Ashley is still acting like a mean girl towards Mercedes, girl grow up. It knocked down my enjoyment for the rest of the story. (Not that there was much to be had anyway. The way they talk/act about their friends and squad members is ugh.)
