What do tomatoes, scowling, and artifacts that could end the entire world have in common?
You guessed it—Tahlia and Marius.
When the Fae king sends dragon riders Tahlia and Marius on an undercover mission to recover the invisible crown, an artifact that gives the wearer the ability to control minds—and a host of other nasty things—it’s clear there will be danger.
For one thing, the madman currently in possession of the crown has a bit of a god complex. But danger is nothing new. And the mission will finally allow Tahlia a chance to cross the Veil and explore the world of humans, not to mention making Marius wear a ridiculous costume, which is pretty much Tahlia’s favorite part of the whole thing.
Tahlia is fairly certain they’ll win the day. But when they discover the crown is hidden behind a labyrinth of deadly traps, her hope withers. If they don’t succeed, her soul-bonded dragon will never fly again. She might even die.
So yeah, failure isn’t an option.
Crown and Dragon, Bound by Dragons Book Three, is a lighthearted fantasy romance with Fae, boatloads of banter, spice, and page-turning excitement. Great for fans of Rebecca Yarros’s Fourth Wing, Sarah J. Maas’s Throne of Glass and A Court of Thorns and Roses, this series will have you gasping and grinning at every turn!
Alisha Klapheke's Bound by Dragons series is back with its third book, Crown and Dragon.
You gotta love Thalia and her zest for life. She is fun, quirky, and adorable. She certainly makes everything an adventure, and her positive personality is starting to rub off on Marius. I enjoyed seeing a different side of him. He's surprisingly very passionate and softer when it comes to Thal. I didn't know he had it in him, seeing them together as a bonded pair was a whole new experience.
What an adventure! Marius and Thalia find themselves on a mission in a human city, of all places. Klapheke gave excellent details. It was like a spy movie, but a fantasy version. It had everything: contacts, disguises, an ancient artifact, a villain, and more. There were magical elements that even I was surprised by. Marius and Tahlia find themselves in one situation after another, and I couldn't look away. You could feel the excitement coming off of the page.
I devoured this book. Crown and Dragon was so much fun! A true fantasy adventure with all the trimmings. Is it bad that I don’t want the series to end? As long as Alisha keeps writing stories with Thalia and Marius then I'll keep reading them.
Book Three in the series, and I just love Tahlia. If you need easy to read, fast paced dragons, fae, and some spice these books are great. They are all relatively short at 250ish pages or less.Very cozy and light Fantasy reads.
I wasn’t too sure about this book when I started, but so glad it picked up in the middle!
There were some light hearted funny scenes, action and adventure. But Marius not being able to keep his hands off Thalia got old very quickly- I don’t recall him being so clingy in book 2.
They're back! Tahlia and Marius are back! What a thrill to get back to this world of Dragons and shenanigans! Well, we can expect Tahlia to delight us with HER special brand of impetuous. Finally a unit, finally accepted as a fully fledged rider, I guess even a half-breed saving the dragons opened up the eyes of many. Now Tahlia and Marius are on an important mission to retrieve an artifact. And even the dangers can't dull Tahlia's excitement and enthusiasm. These 2 couldn't be more different, Tahlia is prone to recklessness, while Marius is outwardly very stoic. He only rarely shows his true colours and usually to her. Seeing as they DO love one another, that's a good thing but he's not really the vocal type, preferably actions over words, so when he does vocalise, it's a thing of beauty! As Tahlia said, "I love it when you use many words at once, it's as rare as unicorns".
It's impossible not to adore them both, besides the sweet and steamy they share as mates and lovers, their stances are so awesomely realistic. Tahlia's joy and zest for fun evokes a smile from me, Marius, while so proper, is undone by Tahlia and his "know all" stance is seriously put to the test with insecurity. Yes, even macho man Marius has doubts about whether he'll be enough for Tahlia, if he can give her all she wants and desires. As both venture into the human realm to stop an arrogant so and so, they had no idea they'd be stuck fighting for their lives and each other, literally! Strange labyrinths, Minotaurs, Sirens are just a few of the dangers they face. So wonderfully fast paced as clear vivid world unfolds before me. Although Tahlia's friends and dragon weren't with her on this adventure, I loved the behind the scenes aid she received! Another character I adore, Fara! Coolness personified! But geez, just as Tahlia and Marius managed to extract themselves from one danger, another sets upon them and one is the worst of all! And an absolute delight that Revna and Lys made timeous and very fortuitous appearances!
I absolutely love Alisha's writing, she is so captivating in her prose and her banter, well now HERS, but she does pen them brilliantly, so I'm giggling one minute and trying to start my heart the next, while at the same time keeping lightheartedness throughout. A talent few authors have....a wonderful read, a fun read, a read I strongly recommend!
Crown and Dragon is the 3rd installment in Alisha Klapheke's Bound by Dragons collection. While it could be read as a standalone, you will get the most benefit of Marius and Tahlia's unique relationship if you read the series in order. Book 3 is amazing, it is everything I hoped for and so much more! I love how Marius and Tahlia's relationship is progressing. And there is just the right amount of spice for this point in their journey.
The storyline is fast-paced and well written, filled with action, adventure, unusual magic, danger, deadly traps, labyrinths, fae, fated mated, spice, banter and excellently executed humor. The author did a fantastic job with scene description and characterization.
In summary, I found this book to be vastly creative and highly entertaining. I definitely recommend both it and the entire series!
This series has been quick moving, full of action and lots of riders with their dragons.
This latest book takes us beyond the Veil on a top secret mission. And well…it does not go as planned…and I loved every moment of it!
Magic, minotaur, a battle with a siren, and hilarious Tahlia banter. And poor Marius is forced into a tomato outfit!! 🤣
A m/f romantic fantasy adventure that does end in a happily ever after but there is a note in the end that another book is coming and if it covers the elesmen that are mentioned I can’t wait to take to the seas and see more of Lija’s power.
Dual povs told in third person
Same characters as the rest of the series with more from King Lysanael and Queen Revna.
Crown and Dragon is the fantasy romantic comedy I didn’t know I needed! I love the dynamics between Marius and Thalia! Mix in one fiercely loyal and sassy dragon with a fiercely loyal and slightly unhinged BFF, lots of action and adventure with some spice and BAM! Magic.
This is the third book in the Bound by Dragons series and Marius and Thalia are on yet another adventure, but this time they are pretty much solo. We do get a smidge of their bonded dragons, and a teeny bit of Thalia’s BFF, Fara (who is my FAVORITE), and even a cameo from a couple of beloved characters from another series. If you enjoyed the first two books you will love this one!
What could go wrong for Thalia and Marius sent on a secret heist mission to retrieve a magical crown that allows the bearer to control human minds? Well, everything in fact.
Although this story had a very slow start for me, it picked up at the halfway mark and then I simply couldn't put it down. There were a few "very convenient" circumstances that allowed for the plot to resolve itself, which felt a little forced, but what a twisty adventure it was!
I do hope the next volume in this series will feature Fara more since I really missed her in this novel.
I liked this one, but not as much as the first two. I think Marius' prejudice against humans kind of soured his character for me, but he did get to spend some time around them while on the mission, so I believe by the end of the book he understands that they aren't all horrible, evil creatures. Tahlia really enjoyed the silliness of the tomato festival they found themselves in, and I was really hoping for an illustration with the tomato hats, but of course Marius wouldn't let that happen.
Thank you to Alisha Klapheke for allowing me the opportunity to receive and read an advanced reader copy of this amazing book! I quickly became a fan of the series with Book 1 in the series (Bound by Dragons), then continued with Book 2 (Kingdom of Spirits) and well we are all huge fans of Talhia and Marius and Book 3 (Crown and Dragon) does not disappoint!
This book takes us on an undercover mission in the human realm during a festival where they throw tomatoes at each other (Tahlia of course enjoyed this part and Marius was less than enthused lol). The mission – get in and out unnoticed and try not to cause trouble and retrieve this artifact that gives the holder unsurmountable power that no one should have (easy right, well…….it's not that simple - it’s invisible….that’s going to be fun).
This book is full of so many wonderful things to draw you in. The relationship between Tahlia and Marius is just so wonderful and then throw banter galore which just makes me chuckle, bonds between friends, action, adventure, humor, deadly traps, a unique magic system and a little spice but it’s just the right amount and you have one amazing book!
Make sure to read all three books. You won’t be disappointed. Available 10/24.
Some of my favorite quotes:
“Tahlia, my love, my dark soul longs for the light in yours.” “I hear your heartbeat, and I want to follow the poetic sound for eternity. Your ferocity in the skies and your love of life will always be my light in the dark.”
I absolutely love Thalia. She is the sunshine’s of sunshine’s and she adores het mates grumpiness. She is also badass and funny. I highly recommend this series if you love the grumpy/sunshine trope. Book 3 also has some spice where the previous books were fade to black but had a lot of tension.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and seeing the growth in Marius and Tahlia strength and training evolving with the book. I was disappointed there wasnt much with fara and the other mist knights but that didnt effect the story at all!
This was a fantastic third book in the Bound By series, and I thoroughly enjoyed every page. Marius and Tahlia are brilliant together, as always, and the book had so many laughs and nail-biting moments that I was engrossed. I had not laughed so hard in a while, I got some strange looks from the other bus passengers. The fun and games and scrapes these two get into are hair-raising at times. I am not giving much away to spoil the book, but there are dragons and fighting. Fara is as great as always. The Author is brilliant at painting the scenery and people you can see everything in your head. I have read this author's books before and was not disappointed with this one. I cannot wait to read the next adventure Marius and Tahlia will themselves get into.
Tahlia and Marius are back as we jump back in and they head to the human realm on a top secret mission. Action packed, this incredible adventure with its twists and turns, danger, drama and battles has you hooked and gripping the edge of your seat. The world building continues to enthrall, the spice has you swooning and the banter and humour has you grinning and laughing out loud on occasion. Find the invisible crown, escape the deadly labyrinth, defeat the baddies and save the day, I absolutely loved this from start to finish.
This one was so much better than the 2nd book. I really enjoyed it, and Lija is just the coolest dragon. I hope to see even more of her dialogue in the next book!
Tahlia and Marius are back, and this time around they are sent on a quest to retrieve a magical artifact from the human realm. This means that Tahlia will go through the veil for the first time, and encounter other humans, something she has wished to do, being part human herself. However this invisible crown they were to retrieve was in the hands of a tyrannical megalomaniac with a god complex, and he had hidden this in a labyrinth full of traps, plus a siren. Dangers loomed everywhere, and though they wore a potion which made them look human, the dangers particularly for Tahlia were enormous. She also had a personal reason to succeed, as her own dragon who had been injured and was now unable to fly needed the witch from the human realm to heal her, and this she would only do upon succeeding in their quest. Can Tahlia and Marius survive this mission and save both the dragon and the human realm from this evil? I loved this book, the romance, the spice, the adventure full of very tense moments and of course the dragons and I look forward to the next book of this lovely couple who are so opposite to one another yet so in love!
This was a great read. It’s book 3 so now I am convinced I need to read 1 & 2. I am now a big fan of Marius & Tahlia. The chemistry between them is very entertaining. Our duo is sent on a secret mission to retrieve an invisible crown that gives the wearer the power to control minds. That would be very dangerous for fae & humans so they set out to visit a witch. She provides them with a potion to disguise their fae features. Then with the help of Marius's dragon, they are off. They have been told it’s hidden in the evil rulers fortress and protected by danngerous creatures. All who have tried to take it have failed to return. Our heros plan on getting in & out as quickly as they can. I absolutely adored this one.
This series is incredible. Fantasy, dragons, action, Fated mates, Fae, and spice. This installment is extra spicy compared to the previous books and there is even a chase scene. Marius is making his way more and more into my heart as the series goes on. His growly self is so protective and possessive of his mate, it makes my heart flutter. Tahlia is more grounded, but the mate bond still very much effects her and I absolutely adore their flirty, steamy banter. There are times in these books when I find myself on the edge of my seat in worry and others where I have tears from all the humor. Marius with kittens will be in my head rent free from now on. These books do not end in cliffhangers and I am grateful for that because that makes every book feel like a new adventure. Can not wait for book four.
An absolutely fantastic story that will take you into another world. Trying to find an artifact that is through the veil might be exciting and dangerous at the same time. Will it be found in time, before there’s danger. Don’t miss out reading this exciting book.
Marius and Tahlia are sent on a secret mission so of course there were issues and drama. But it was and an amazing read that I could not put down. These two are a riot and loved it all. Had to see if they would succeed and what else they would run into along the way.
Thank you Alisha for letting me be part of this journey! I absolutely loved this series from book one. Between the dragons and the interactions with them and this amazing love story I was hooked ! Everyone should check out Alisha Klaphkes books!
I'm a big fan of this author, I've read all of her books. This book, like all of the others, is amazing. I loved diving back into the world with Marius and Tahlia. If you're looking for a fun, easy to read book, then this may be the one for you.
A magical fiery dragon adventure with a side of epic battles amidst a blooming relationship. I loved the further development of Marius's and Tahlia's journey. This action-packed book is filled with humor, banter, desirable angst, wit, and some of the swooniest declarations of love. Their trust and devotion to each other is heartwarming and sometimes a bit steamy.
"She was his mate first, a knight of his order second."
This book was absolutely INCREDIBLE! I literally finished it in an afternoon because it's so impossible to put down! Marius and Tahlia are just so wonderful together, and so much happened in this book! Lots of action and adventure, and I loved seeing their reactions to the humans (especially Marius's reaction to the "furry demons" haha). There were some spicy scenes, more than in previous books in the series. I know some people love that; I'm not usually a fan, but they were easy enough to skim over and didn't distract from the story (they actually made sense to be there). I absolutely adore this series, and cannot wait for the next book already!!
"I would seize the moon for you if you wished it. I would burn the world to ash. Ask me anything, my mate, and I will see it done."
This story is the continuation of the Bound by Dragon series. If you have not read the first two books I would highly recommend that you do before diving into this one! I loved the first two and I could not wait for this one to release and now it’s here. This story follows the same two characters from the first two, Tahlia and Marius as well as their dragons. Book three (this book) pick up almost exactly where book two left off. It’s really draws you in and keeps you there with the suspense of everything happening. That being said there’s also a good amount of character growth and development between the two books! I loved this one almost as much as book one but it is still a 10/10 book and I hope you all decide to take a chance and read it for yourself. I personally will be here waiting for book four because i CANNOT get enough of the story!!!
The continued story of Marius and Thalia, Mistborn Dragon riders. This time they leave their dragons behind to go on a secret mission in the human realm. Their mate bond has strengthened and it makes Marius very protective which could jeopardize their mission. As always the banter between the two is funny and very entertaining. I’ve loved this series so far and look forward to book 4.
