This box set includes the complete trilogy of the Hex Support Mysteries. Each book features one of the Fairfield sisters, three witches from a prominent magical family who live in Dark Hollow, the haunted house that's served as their family's sanctuary for generations. Kit, Elizabeth, and Grace each have their reasons for avoiding the rest of the world, until a visit from Kit's former employer, a secret division of the Federal Bureau of Magic, changes everything.

(FYI I tend to only review one book per series, unless I want to change my scoring by 0.50 or more of a star. -- I tend not to read reviews until after I read a book, so I go in with an open mind.)
2.5*
I wasn't keen on the love interest in book 1, so the book lost points for that. The trilogy as a whole did not regain those points, because each book featured a different sister and I felt like I missed big chunks of the sisters stories that started in their own books but then just skipped ahead to the 'finish' at the end of the third book. I'd have probably given this series more stars, if each sister got two books, so that we actually saw their stories play out, rather than just be told near the end that
First time read the author's work?: No
Will you be reading more?: Yes -- I do try the authors other books when in the mood to, she's 'hit and miss' for me so I have to be in the mood for a miss. Some of her books / series are favourites of mine, others miss entirely and others are in between.
Would you recommend?: Not really
------------ How I rate Stars: 5* = I loved (must read all I can find by the author) 4* = I really enjoyed (got to read all the series and try other books by the author). 3* = I enjoyed (I will continue to read the series) or 3* = Good book just not my thing (I realised I don't like the genre or picked up a kids book to review in error.)
All of the above scores means I would recommend them! - 2* = it was okay (I might give the next book in the series a try, to see if that was better IMHO.) 1* = Disliked
Note: adding these basic 'reviews' after finding out that some people see the stars differently than I do - hoping this clarifies how I feel about the book. :-)
Fascinating Fairfield witch family and the 3 sisters featured in this series, and their relationships as adults, dealing with the multi-generational family history.
The sisters have access to the family history through the individual portraits hanging in the gallery and can talk to any of them at any time, which like most families is sometimes good and sometimes night - but fascinating!
In each book, a different sister works for the magical police force on the detective side and help solve tricky murders using their special witchy skills. Kit is a Green witch, Elizabeth is a book witch and Grace is a Chaos witch so each adventure is taoilored to their talents. An entertaining series, likable characters and an absolutely worthwhile read
Such a fun read! Magic and fantasy-based, but different to a lot of fantasy novels in that rather than a focus on the magic, the focus here is on the main characters and their development. So it works for both fantasy readers and fans of drama/romance etc. Three main characters, each quite different but each very likeable. I could definitely relate to Elizabeth! Although Grace was the most fun. Three lovely stories and the conclusion brings everything together nicely. I'd love to step back into their world again sometime!
I found out about Hex Support through the Federal Bureau of Magic series and just had to read it and I glad I did since the series is complete when you read all three books and they are amazing, Kit, Elizabeth and Grace stories will keep you reading.
The end of the 3rd book is positively beautiful. I feel people should read this series just so they can learn to appreciate ALL humans. Beautiful story.
