My new boss wants everything his way. He’s a grumpy and controlling boss and we don’t get along.

Christian Bradford is the best cardiologist in Vancouver—and the most impossible man I’ve ever met.
I’m supposed to be his nanny, but he treats me like I’m the one who needs babysitting.
He has a schedule for everything, a plan for everyone, and no patience for change.
I don’t follow his schedules. I don’t take Addison to every unnecessary appointment. And I definitely don’t let him boss me around.
I can’t lose this job, but he’s driving me up the wall.
When I finally push back, I think I’m done for.
He’s gorgeous, bossy, and entirely too tempting.
Replacing me might be the smartest thing he could do… if only he didn’t seem so determined to keep me close.

This is the final book in the Mercy Emergency Medical series. Characters from the Men of Mercy series are bound to show up. And Christian and Hailey promise to have you tearing your hair out one minute and reaching for a very cold glass of water.

What you can expect in Doctor Tyrant:
* medical romance
* enemies to lovers
* sisters best friend
* opposites attract
* Boss/Employee (Nanny)
* An unexpected single dad
* Age gap
* So steamy it may melt your kindle (some kink and toys)

Loving a Child and Learning to Trust Again

The betrayal of trust by those who should love, support and care for an individual, whether when a
child or adult can be life altering. A betrayed individual can be left with lingering scars of hurt, impeding the ability to trust others, warping the individual’s future relationships, even long after the perfidious event.

As an adult, Christian Bradford knows his skills and worth as a cardiac surgeon. And so, to meet the demanding responsibilities of his job, he has intentionally crafted a personal life with minimal responsibilities, promoting the philosophy that free time is his time. If an individual wants his attention, that individual needs to put forward a winning claim to gain time with the busy cardiologist.

As the only child of divorced parents, Christian learned what it meant to be courted for his attention with each parent biding for the now adult child’s time. His mom, Madeline, offers wealth, generational social position in Vancouver and constant reminders of his “duty.” His dad offers emotional connections—an extended second family including stepsister, Dana. But the adult son questions of why dad didn’t fight for more time with his only child.

But, what Christian never anticipated was becoming a single dad, and especially not the father of a child with special needs. Conceived during a “no strings attached” occasional hook-up, with Taylor Tull Hearst, a woman with dreams of Hollywood stardom, but also controlled by the dark clouds of depression. So, when Taylor’s sister, Erica, delivers baby Addison to her dad along with the baby’s supplies and a note of explanation, Christian’s world is shaken. Baby Addison’s maternal aunt has determined that Christian is the best to assume responsibility for the child. He can provide a financially stable life thanks to his job as a cardiology surgeon at Vancouver’s Mercy Hospital. But with the discovery of his fatherhood, Christian’s life/work balance is destroyed.

Now, Christian, who never really anticipated needing friends and family as an adult, realizes that he needs support to simply survive caring for his physically fragile baby daughter and to maintain his lucrative, but demanding, medical career. And while he tried a nanny service, no candidate fully understood the needs of baby Addison, a child with a physical fragility that makes her care challenging and essential.

So, in desperation, Christian turns to his family. His unbending mom stands firm that the child will be cared for and nurtured by Christian. But, mom understands that the new dad needs someone to be physically present with Addison 24/7 to help the surgeon dad manage the needs of his daughter and his professional responsibilities. But mom isn’t the person to manage the care of a special needs child. And while the scheduler at the hospital can arrange emergency time for dad and daughter to connect, doctor daddy still needs support—a live-in, full-time childcare employee.

And so, after several attempts to find a dedicated, patient, loving, nurturing caregiver whom he and Addison need, Christian determines that none of the individuals hired were the perfect match. And in desperation, Christian turns to his stepsister, Dana Stewart, to help him sort out and to interview care providers. And, what Dana recognizes is that by helping her brother and baby niece, she would also help her friend and former college roommate, 23-year-old Hailey Spencer. Hailey has recently been confronted by the financial and emotional betrayal of former boyfriend, Franklin. And unfortunately, Franklin’s betrayal isn’t the first time that Hailey has been disappointed by trusted family or friends.

So, when overwhelmed dad, Christian, and under-appreciated and financial-strapped nanny, Hailey, are brought together, they both recognize that they need each other. And neither is over-flowing with trust and confidence in this new relationship. But, Christian is a desperate dad, and Hailey is an emotionally and financially abused young beauty. The employer and employee soon find that both need each other.

And, while both adults are hesitant in each other's the presence, they both recognize that the needs of sweet, innocent baby Addison must come first. And so, as the wary adult caregivers become dedicated members of Team Addison, they both must come to accept that the needs of the adults will always be secondary to the needs of the sweet baby girl.

Again, Grace Maxwell offers her readers another delightful tale of Mercy Hospital—the staff, their friends and family. While each Mercy romance can be read as an engaging stand-alone tale of the successes and challenges of working at the Vancouver hospital, Maxwell offers a collection of related Mercy friends and family in the Men of Mercy and the current series Mercy Medical Emergency.

I received a review copy of the romance, but purchased a personal copy to read again.

I have mixed feelings about this book. I liked it and I didn't. I did not like the male lead in this book. He's a womanizer and while he and Hailey are in the thick of the relationship and exclusive, he comes home smelling of cheap perfume? Why was that unexplained? Sorry. What does exclusive even mean if he can come home smelling like a woman rubbed all over him? Come on. You have to be very close to someone to get their perfume on you. Hailey is too nice. She has no boundaries. He is an ass. He does not care for his child at all and doesn't come home, but goes out when he's off work, but supposedly loves the child? I do not care if she is paid to do this work, it's his child. I do not buy it. He redeems himself in the end. But I have a hard time with these "romances" where a man is allowed to treat a woman like crap for 75% of the book. Like the author is saying that if you stay with a crappy person like this, in the end it will turn out okay? No it won't. Not in real life. We should not be writing romances that accept this type of behavior. Men continue to treat women badly if women do not develop boundaries. I felt like Hailey deserved better than this. She deserved a guy who treats her great once he decides to be exclusive with her. Ugh. There was only one book in this series where the male lead was even sort of okay. He was not a philanderer. If I wanted to read a romance like this, I'd go to Reddit.

Last book in the Mercy Medical Emergency series and what an end! I have to admit that Christian as a boss is indeed a tyrant so the title of this book fits perfectly. Christian wakes up one day, finding he is the father of a little girl with down syndrome and her mother bailed on her making him the main caregiver now. Christian, the extraordinary doctor, the best this city has, with his perfect scheduled life, now is responsible for the life of a toddler. In his panic to find a nanny who can look after the baby 24/7 he agrees to hire his stepsister's best friend, Hailey. We have to thank Hailey for Christian's development as a character. He learns to be a father, he learns to love unconditionally, he learns that not everything in life goes according to the plan and sometimes it's okay to adjust as you go, he learns to let those walls down after so many years of building them and letting people in aka Hailey, his dad and his new family etc..and everything thanks to Hailey. Because let's face it, by the end of the book, he is a better person compared to how we started: selfish, self-centered and sometimes quite rude. Even though Hailey is 17 years younger than him ( yes, we have an age gap here), she is way more responsible and wiser than him. And her care and love for baby Addison transformed the tyrant as well, making him in the end quite a lovable character. Can't wait for the new Paradise series!

This is the fourth book and Grace, Maxwell’s Doctors of mercy medical emergency series. I knew the author intended to take a darker turn with this book, but in the past her characters, overall have been compassionate toward each other. My heart broke for Hailey time and time again as she Gave her heart to Little Addison, and wanted so desperately to have a family to love. I think that the sexual relationship between her and Christian was so rushed, and Christian took advantage of her. He was cruel to her And since he wasn’t a person with a lot of redeemable qualities to begin with, I just couldn’t sympathize with him
What I loved about graces first series amount of mercy hospital was that the characters, especially the male characters, were more compassionate and lovable. By delving into the world of sex clubs Mrs. Maxwell It’s following a disturbing trend that I see in current authors of romance. I guess I like my stories a little tamer, as I just don’t feel that sex clubs enhance a loving and trusting relationship between a married couple. That being said, I’ll be honest and say thank you Grace it has been a great experience reading your books, but this will be my last one.

Doctor Tyrant, the latest in the Mercy Medical Emergency series, follows the developing relationships among Christian Bradford, Vancouver’s most sought-after cardiac surgeon, his unexpected infant daughter Addison, and Hailey, an outside-the box-type nanny who loves unconditionally.

The story reflects on Christian’s journey from self-centered bachelor with control issues to a doting father, lover and family man. In the midst of this journey, the author touches on the complications of baby Addison’s Downs syndrome and the perils of parent-child relationships as well as the joys of relationships in general.

I love this series by Grace Maxwell. Kudos for another romance with substance, heart, and soul.

I received an ARC but loved it enough to purchase a copy as well. The publication date is January 10

YES ANOTHER HEART CLINCHER!
I waited all year for Christian's story and boy was it worth the wait. I loved the complete 180 Christian did after becoming a father and having Hailey in his life. His arrogance and God's gift was so grating but oh how a little baby managed to bring a grown man to his knees. I had mixed feelings regarding Hailey and my heart went out to her after having to first deal with Franklin, Taylor and even how Dana treated her. I really wished she would have stood up to them all (even Christian) and lot more. She forgave him WAY to easy for my taste and that was my only discontentment with the book. The spiciness was a 12 out of 10 and due to the holidays I managed to read this is one sitting of 2 1/2 hours. Highly recommend!.

This story made me smile, cry and get tearful in a few places, as a parent my heart hurt reading this and as an advocate I wanted to stand up for Addison in a few places too. I enjoyed the character development in this, the connections, chemistry, friendships and the support that was shown. I liked seeing Christian and Hailey get to know each other and explore what was between them. I wanted to shake them both at times and stage an intervention or two, I also wanted to have a stern word with a couple characters as I read this. I enjoyed seeing them become a family, find happiness and love each other the best that they could.

I wanted to love this book. In the end it’s not a 4 ⭐️ read for me. This is an age gap/nanny, hooked up with my best friend’s brother trope book. My problem is that Christian is written as a stereotypical, arrogant surgeon who apparently has meaningless sex and goes to sex clubs (something the reader doesn’t get to see). Hailey is not a strong character. She is a nurture but that doesn’t mean she needed to be a doormat. There are no clear expectations set up from the beginning and so everything seems forced. I feel like this should be rewritten to make for a stronger storyline.

This is Christian's story. He learns that he is a father when the baby shows up on his doorstep. It is more complicated because of his lifestyle and even more because his daughter has down syndrome. He is at his wits end and takes a chance on hiring Hailey who has her own issues to handle. Will they find a middle ground that leads them to happiness in the end. This story kept me glued to the pages as I connected with these two and their growth all throughout the story.

Doctor Tyrant by Grace Maxwell is book 4 of the Mercy Medical Emergency series. This was such a great book! The book is well written and it has a great storyline. Bailey is hired to be a nanny for Christian's daughter Addison. Bailey and Christian have great chemistry and Addison is adorable. Once I started reading I couldn't put the book down. I am looking forward to reading the other books in the series.

Age gaps aren't normally my type of read but I really enjoyed this book. Hailey did not come across as some young bubble-headed teenager, she had a head on her shoulders and even though life threw her curves she bounces back. Christian is a great doctor but he knows it. When he gets thrown a major surprise in the form of a baby he keeps being a butthead until finally the nanny gets him to think more about his baby girl. They finally get their HEA. I recommend this book to all romance readers.

This is the last book in the Mercy medical series and what a book it is. Christian finds out he’s the father to a Down syndrome baby and he decides to take a chance and hire Hailey. I honestly wasn’t too sure about Hailey in the beginning as I thought she had a lot of growing up to do. Hailey and Christian were good for each other as they both helped each other grow in my opinion. An enjoyable read to the end of the series!

I’ve loved every one of these stories in this series, but this is by far my favorite. Christian and Hailey are explosive characters. Both are damaged souls, and love has failed them. Their introduction might be cliche, but their chemistry is off the charts. Their love journey isn’t easy, quite the emotional rollercoaster, to be honest, but it’s passionate, adventurous, and totally captivating. I couldn’t put the book down. Add in the most precious child, and it’s just a brilliant read.

Oh my gosh was this ever emotional!

Christian is the ultimate playboy!
Work hard and play hard.
He won't fall in love!

Hailey.
Poor Hailey!
Such a kind and loving soul!
What life throws at her!

And Addison, innocent little girl!
She needs love and patience!
Can Christian and Hailey be the pillars of strength that Addison needs?

I need MORE Christian, Hailey, Addison and...!!!

Mixed feelings

I liked the surprise baby part of the story line in DOCTOR TYRANT. It is what kept me reading to the end. A lot happens to little Addison making for a compelling story.

The romance was unconvincing, though. I never got a feeling these two had a deep, enduring love. I was rather disappointed at the spicy scenes because they just seemed rather awkward.

I enjoyed this book and how loving a baby helped to soften Christian. This was a steamy, age gap, single dad romance and I loved how Christian and Hailey worked through so much to get to their happy ever after. Baby Addison really did convert this Dr. Tyrant into a loving father.

Release box when there’s this tag of two characters you think should be together you don’t want to do you other than do you want to do you other than your insurance well let’s definitely took me on a full swing of lips. I never understood again and how there was items they explain and they didn’t explain about Addison I enjoyed her complete demeanor that she’s his loving caring baby and I think that brings a closer Ness to the two characters.

I can’t believe this is the last book in the Mercy Medical Emergency but I’m super excited and ready for what’s coming next. I have read every book by Grace so far and I think this is my absolute favorite. Little Miss Addison stole my heart from the very beginning, I absolutely love her. I’m glad Christian found not only his match but his person. I hope to see more of these characters in the future. 🖤🔥⚕️🔥🖤

My favorite quotes from Christian:

• “Despite what you may think, you’re doing a great job. Honest,” she says, her lips pressing against my shoulder.

Her words are simple, genuine, and they settle somewhere deep inside me. Maybe I can be different. For Addison, for Hailey, for us.

• In her embrace, something shifts inside me, settles into place. I feel whole, not fragmented by fears and insecurities. It’s a completeness I’ve never known, one that only Hailey seems able to bring.

Christian is used to a high stress, high demand job and environment. He thinks he's more important than anyone else around him. When he needs a nanny for his daughter, Addison, each nanny he hires quits soon after.

Christian's sister, Dana, volunteers her best friend Hailey to take over the job. Hailey is trying to find a place to live and a job after ending a bad relationship.

Christian is against the idea, and yet he realized he had no options. Hailey realized she had no choice either and together they need to figure it out. They are complete opposites, and yet their care for Addison is a foundation. They make you laugh and cry, and they take you on a journey.
