Yolanda’s Yummery is getting quite a following. One of her appreciated guests is Captain Angus. And when he goes missing, Yolanda is the first person the detectives suspect in his disappearance. She must prove her innocence, which gets harder by the day when incriminating evidence is found in her home and on the Captain’s boat. Meanwhile, she still must keep her Yummery stocked and complete work on the new Beverage Bar. She is also wondering where her new romance with Nigel is headed, or maybe she should reconcile with her old boyfriend. Anyway you look at it, Yolanda’s life is a hot mess. This cozy has a lot going for it. The continuing characters from the first book are better developed in this story. Yolanda’s former boyfriend is nicer in this story. The mystery is a good one, even if Yolanda is foolhardy for rushing into the fray and putting herself in danger. The most unbelievable part is that the detective zeros in on Yolanda in the first place when he has no reason to suspect her. It’s a quick and entertaining read. And as a bonus, two recipes are included in the book.

The Missing Sea Captain by Lisa Maliga is the second book in the Yolanda's Yummery Cozy Mystery series. Yolanda Carter is a fairly successful bakery owner. She refers to her bakery as a "yummery" because everything she makes is yummy. She is very happy making delicious sweets for the residents of Brentwood, CA and the surrounding areas. She has many regular customers, one of whom is Captain Angus. He is a homeless man who comes into the yummery twice a day like clockwork. So when he fails to come in for several days, Yolanda and her employees become concerned.
Then a detective from the local police station comes in asking Yolanda questions regarding the captain's whereabouts. Yolanda soon realizes that she needs to figure out what happened to Captain Angus before she finds herself baking behind bars!
I really like Yolanda. She is a kind, good hearted person who wants to make those around her happy with her wonderful concoctions. The mystery was well written and had me on the edge of my seat. I can't wait to read the next one!

Yolanda owner of Yummy yummery who deals in more of a healthy style living. ( For me with my allergies I was feeling it was more droolworthy.) She owns a bakery and gets some odd clients. When she is approached by a Mr. Churchill without cause and it causes Chaos due to weird client gone missing presumed dead. She has her loyal people friends and family backing her.
The energy dynamic and places it takes you around throughout the travels and finding out the truth makes it feel like you are there.
First of all this book I just wanted to keep reading. The pacing was good I loved all the characters. I liked something unpredictable and felt relatable. I also believe I found my second favorite author. This Yolanda reminded me of a Savannah Reid character. I love how close this character is with her family and friends. That it takes place in Southern California. I would read every book that this Author has just because I love it.

A true bakers cozy mystery. Quite a few familiar characters from the first mystery in this series are back because the enjoy all the freshly baked healthy goods as well as freshly made energy bars and the heroine Yolanda and side kick Teagan ending up as top suspects after a someone went missing and that's where the mischief began trying to figure out how it all began. I was laughing out loud at times then giggling and I'm in my sixties I'm not supposed to be giggling. but you'll be doing the same while you read this cozy mystery right up to the end and if you're like me you'll be reading it from start to finish with all the intrigue and mayhem .Acquire " The Missing Sea Captain " book two in Yolanda's Yummery Cozy Mystery. Kat
I just finished the Missing Sea Captain book which I did enjoy reading. I love the fact that Yolanda was such a hard working individual who had set her site on what she wanted and was not going to succeed. Yolanda has the right aproach towards all of her employee that they are very loyal to her. The author was using everything she could think of to set Lolanda up the the kipnapping but she also made sure that Yolanda had as much help to solve the mystery. I had made the wrong quess about who was behind all of this but it was nice to see that I was wrong. I hope Lisa Maliga will continue with this story has it was very interesting to read about. I would recommend this author and this story to anyone who enjoys a good cozy mystery.
Yolanda Carter is the owner of Yolanda’s Yummery. She was talking about Old Captain Angus who she had not seen in awhile. She thought he was homeless because he often stinks and is found dumpster diving at times. but finds out he lives on a yacht. Detective Churchill comes in asking when the last time she or her staff has seen him. Someone called in tip that Yolanda and Captain were dating so Churchill comes back questioning her again Since the captain is missing it is feared he is dead. Yolanda and her family and friends are trying to find out what really happened to the Captain. This was an easy to read story and very enjoyable I highly recommend it.

Readers are reunited with delectable Yolanda`s Yummery and all the old familiars, and some new faces, too, in book 2 of the series, that just keeps getting better with each addition; I rate it a 3.5 Stars. One of my favorite things about Lisa Maliga`s books is the fun aspect of people watching: she brings out such unique and quirky traits, that I`m always chuckling with every new encounter and every new quip. Then Detective Churchill comes with the news of Captain Angus ‘s disappearance and she becomes the main suspect . This makes Yolanda more determined than ever to find the truth as she seemed to be framed for this murder. A intriguing read with humour and interesting characters . Twice a day Captain Angus showed up at the Yummery. He would eat the samples and buy a cookie or brownie with money he scrounged off other people. Yolanda and all her employees thought he was homeless. Wonderful second book in the series and a real page turner. Loved all the characters especially Yolanda and her family. With an appearance from her ex Zac, too. Tank and Chopper are a good addition, too. Liked the storyline and how the plot unfolded. Loved both of the books so far.
Yolanda has finally gotten her Yummery open in Los Angeles and it has developed quite a following. When Captain Angus, a homeless man who is a regular customer, disappears, the clues are pointing at Yolanda and her best friend Teagan! Can she clear their names before Yolanda's Yummery is no more? Very lovable characters and a captivating story! All I need now is one of those Magical Cakes of Love!
A decent cozy mystery with friends working to clear their names from the police and to find who really killed Captain Angus. Lots of back and forth worrying about being blamed for the murder and worrying about the new business starting up. Clean cozy mystery.

a light murder mystery set around a good old bakery. i didn't think the detective was worthy of the title here and i found there to be a number of questionable events. nonetheless, the murder plot unfolded well ~

Again, very cute. This has a definite mystery. I just think this may not be the series for me. It's really cute overall, but sometimes it a bit….cheesy? Maybe? And all the men in and out… just not for me. But give it a shot and see what you think!
Yolanda is baking lots of treats in her new business when a customer is missing and someone is framing her for his disappearance. The police are questioning her and now evidence is found in her home. Yolanda investigates to clear her name. This was a fun story and I recommend it.

Good storyline. Good characters. One good point of this book is the heroine does not end up in bed with anyone. No dead body. So an actual clean mystery. Nice and cozy.
