Rate this book
It might be Christmas time but sunshine has come to Magnolia Falls in cowboy boots and a smile as big as Tennessee.

Aspen transplant in magnolia point, co-owner of the Taste of Magnolia food truck and bane of my existence.

Her perpetual sunshine is what drew me in and for one night - I almost lost myself in her.

But one kiss was all I could afford. I’d played that game before and lost a part of myself I thought I’d never get back.

So we’d come to some sort of truce - a necessity with her best friend dating my brother. And it had worked. Until they decide to take an extended trip right before Christmas and leave Aspen and I to cater a holiday party .

Together.

It should have been just another day. But with the holidays swirling around us - there’s some kind of magic in the air. And before the night is over, I’m getting a very private tour of the food truck.

And Aspen.

It seems like things are finally turning around for us, but when she goes to support my sister at a speed dating event in town, I have to lay my claim.

And it’s just in time too - because I’m ready to claim my girl or risk being decked.

In 2024, escape to the lowcountry of Magnolia Point, South Carolina, and celebrate the holidays with your favorite group of romance authors and their charming Southern men. See you there!

Anyone who has been reading the Man of the Month series knows that Aspen and Phoenix have been circling each other for a hot minute. I love that they finally give in and give things a go in this novella.

Phoenix is more sweet and sensitive than outsiders give him credit for, and Aspen just wants to love and be loved. I think they’re great together. Their chemistry is strong and their banter had me cracking up.

For those all about the spice, there are a couple of spicy moments so it’s light on the spice, but the rest of the story is good. I enjoy these novellas so much that I almost always wish they were regular length novels so that I can spend more time with the characters.

If you’re looking for something short, sweet, slightly angsty, lightly spiced, and with a HEA then give this one a look!

Another Man of the Month! A Magnolia Point holiday novella, a quick read to get us in the spirit of the holidays. A grumpy/sunshine featuring Aspen and Phoenix.

Aspen is our sunshine and successful food truck co-owner. Phoenix is our grump, with walls. Both are fighting their attraction, and having a hard time forgetting their one kiss!

A short novella but plenty of story, a colorful cast of characters, and angst! The group chats and text threads are over the top, and create laugh out loud moments.

Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

A great holiday novella of grumpy/sunshine Aspen and Phoenix. Aspen is all sunshine and Phoenix is grumpy. These two forced proximity for a catering event. Things are awkward at first but with his brother married to her best friend they call truce. That’s until she decides to go on a speed dating event with her friend. He can’t stop thinking about their first kiss.
It was such a great short story, full of small town charm, a very, banter and some amazing characters. A must read anytime of the year!

OMG! So cute!!!

Grumpy man hiding behind feelings of his past and letting it get in the way of his present and present 🎁 lol

I read this book in about five hours lol

It’s cute and fun and flirty! I loved the crossovers between Clementine Creek and Blackstone Falls!

Aspen is Montana’s younger sister she pops up a few times in his book and I totally didn’t put that together with this book until the text chain between him and Aspen and Vienna (Their other sibling)

I loved watching Phoenix and Aspen Dance around each other until he just couldn’t stand not being in her life anymore.

They fit so well! She’s a little quiet at times and he’s vivacious and at others times they totally swap.

In public he’s quiet and aloof lol

He becomes possessive of her so fast too! It’s so fun to watch! Ahhh!!

I was so excited to pick up Aspen’s book. I’ve been curious about the Greene sisters since reading Montana’s book. They’re both spunky girls with great personalities.

Aspen and Phoenix both have unrequited crushes, but Phoenix was determined to distance himself from her. Until his brother pushed him to go for it. Because they already knew each other so well, we skip all the get to know you moments, which speeds up the courting process.

The group texts, and texts between Aspen and Phoenix are so much fun, as always in Alexandra’s books.

I want more of these two. That’s the only thing that makes me sad about novellas, I always want more of the MCs. I can’t wait to see if they pop up again in Vienna’s book and more of the Blackstone Falls series.

Thank you Alexandra for my ARC of this book.

A Sweet and Spicy Holiday Novella

This story has a little grumpy/sunshine feel, a little enemies to lovers, a little forced proximity. But it also has the most adorable grumpy uncle making sure his niece has the best Christmas memories. There’s the emotions of the Banks family, the small town fun, the strong friendships we always see from Alexandra Hale, and of course group texts to make you laugh out loud. And don’t miss those steamy moments. When the food truck is rockin’, don’t come knockin’. 😉

OMG!!! WOW!! Fab*u*lous Absolutely love this one!! I couldn't put this one down. This was a nice quick, short read.

Phoenix and Aspen met when she first came to Magnolia Point. Ten months ago Phoenix was sitting in the coffee shop on Karaoke night when Aspen walks onto the stage. Phoenix can't take his eyes off of Aspen. When Aspen is done singing she sees Phoenix and pulls him aside to talk. Aspen asks Phoenix to dance with her, but no one else is dancing. Aspen asks Phoenix to take her home, but he tells her he can't. Phoenix knows if he lets Aspen in he won't be able survive the fallout, he promised himself not to let it happen again. Present day, Aspen finds out that Cora Watermelon With You? her business partner, fiancé surprised her with a vacation. Aspen has to do a catering event for the food truck they own alone. Phoenix's sister Bristol, is going away so she won't be able to help. Cora tells Aspen she asked Phoenix to help her and he agreed. Aspen hasn't talked to Phoenix since that night in the coffee shop when he turned her down. Phoenix's brother Talon bets him he can't be nice to Aspen while they are together at the catering event. Phoenix had his heart broken while in college, he was dating what he thought was his forever. After a tragic event with Phoenix's sister Bristol husband he asked his girlfriend to marry him and she told him no and then left him. Don’t you just love the names Phoenix and Aspen? This author delivers on the most original and sexiest names. But that’s not all she delivers on! When you open the pages of this book, you best be wearing a seatbelt because the banter and action is going to take place rather quickly in this delightful novella. Phoenix Banks and Aspen Greene have been tangled up before but Phoenix shot her down and he knows it was a bad mistake. Phoenix’s thoughts on Aspen: “And to round out the reasons I need to stay away from her, she’s that same sort of fire that drew me in all those years ago. But Aspen burns hotter, brighter, and is guaranteed to leave me as nothing but a pile of ash if I get too close.” Now he’s determined to prove to her that they could be good together….yeah, and he delivers! Going as far as getting her out of season flowers, having a special printed t-shirt “swoon” made and being her non-grumpy helper at a catering event for starters. This may be a less than two hour read but it packs a lot within its pages! The reader gets: included with Phoenix’s and Aspen’s steamy relationship an update on Talon and Cora; Bristol, Talon’s and Phoenix’s widow sister, goes on a speed dating episode; Vienna Greene from the Love Beach series plays a role in Phoenix’s quest to win Aspen; cute 4 year old Navy brightens up the pages along with Chip the teacup pig, and Montana Greene, Aspen’s and Vienna’s brother, makes his big brother appearance known through his text and a teaser for the next book of where he might be at the end of this book. Again, I repeat, just look at those names! I received an advance review copy of this book for free. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐝 & 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧𝐞 by Alexandra Hale is a Man of the Month, Magnolia Point Christmas novella, featuring a spicy grumpy/sunshine romance for Phoenix and Aspen. Aspen has charmed the town with her sunshiny attitude and the successful food truck she co-owns, but she can’t seem to get past the wall around Phoenix. They shared one unforgettable kiss, but he quickly applied the brakes, making their relationship a bit awkward, given the fact that her best friend is with his brother. When that duo goes away together and puts Aspen and Phoenix in charge of a major catering gig, they are forced to confront their feelings. Will Phoenix finally take a risk and claim his girl?

What a fantastic novella! For such a short story, it was full of amazing characters, witty banter, small town charm, and some fun, angsty, and fiery romance! If that food truck is rockin,’ don’t come knocking!’😉🥵 Also, I 𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦 for hilarious text threads or group chats, and this novella certainly delivered!🤣 It was just a great blend of romance, fun, emotion, family, and community. I haven’t made it through all of this author’s backlist yet, but I have enjoyed every book I’ve read so far, and I can’t wait for the next one!!

f you are looking for a quick holiday novella to get you in the holiday spirit, then you should read this one!

This book follows Aspen and Phoenix. Phoenix has had his heart broken and tries to avoid all romantic relationships. Which means he has to avoid Aspen like the plague, he is drawn to her, and after one hot kiss he has pushed her away at every turn. Aspen has given up on Phoenix changing his mind and now just tries to get under his skin every chance she gets.

When Aspen’s best friend and business partner is heading on vacation, she gets Phoenix to help Aspen with a big catering event. Aspen doesn’t want to work with Phoenix, and he doesn’t want to be in close quarters with Aspen. But what happens when he lets his guard down and spends some time with Aspen?

I’m not sure how Alexandra was able to put so much into a 100 page novella. I could feel the longing between Aspen and Phoenix and I just wanted to yell at Phoenix to get his act together. I loved the closeness of Phoenix with his siblings and niece. I loved Aspen and her relationship with her sister! And I especially loved the Montana cameo and the mention of Clementine Creek 😍. I liked how Aspen didn’t make things easy for Phoenix even though she wanted to!

This is a fun, quick spicy novella to get you in the holiday spirit.

In Decked in Red & Greene by Alexandra Hale, Aspen and Phoenix's grumpy/sunshine romance brings a spark to the holiday season in Magnolia Point. Since Aspen moved to town to launch her food truck, Taste of Magnolia, with her best friend Cora, she’s unwittingly captured Phoenix's interest—even if he insists on keeping his distance after past heartbreak. However, when Cora and Phoenix's brother head out of town, Aspen and Phoenix are left to cater a big event together. Forced into close quarters, Phoenix must confront his growing feelings for Aspen and decide if he’s ready to put his heart on the line again.

Hale is a master at delivering swoony, spicy novellas, and this holiday romance is no exception. The chemistry between Aspen and Phoenix leaps off the page, feeling as natural and layered as a full-length novel. Their shared beach walks, cozy nights watching Christmas movies, and lively banter create a blend of humor and heartfelt emotion, all while showcasing Magnolia Point’s small-town charm. The novella offers everything: witty group texts, fiery romance, a vibrant sense of community, and a dash of angst. It’s a fantastic read for fans of holiday novellas, with a balance of warmth, humor, and undeniable chemistry that leaves readers rooting for this perfectly mismatched duo.

Eek ! The best book I’ve read this past week . It’s so frigging good , but then I knew it would be of course I knew , it’s by Alexandra Hale. So would you. Magnolia Falls is where it’s occurring , well there’s certainly something stirring. And I don’t mean the coffee in the Taste of Magnolia food truck. With one kiss he’s smitten but it’s already written…You see her best friend was dating his brother . Oh brother it’s one of those tropes ,that I can’t seem to get enough . Even when they’re having it rough. Some sort of holiday magic or close proximity sees them lose themselves in infinity or so it seems, she will remember it in her dreams. The food truck saw all but it’s not telling . Phoenix and Aspen have been having this dancing and it’s become quite entrancing , but he’s solid in his mind, she’s one of a kind and he thinks to himself . She’s gonna be mine once and for all. And wow what a show at the speed -dating event. He just knows it’s in his hands now and grasps at the straw to get to know her more…light on spice but that’s enough for these two soulmates that are in sweet glorious love. Brilliant storytelling , the writing is sublime . I keep on saying time after time Alexandra Hale . I had a good time reading this great novella and Phoenix , how sweet , a lovely fella. In fact all your characters are great ,all with their different traits. Bravo 🤩

Decked in Red and Greene by Alexandra Hale is a charming holiday romance set in the heartwarming, small-town world of Magnolia Point, South Carolina. The story brings together two vivid characters: Aspen, the bubbly co-owner of a food truck, and the narrator, who harbours a deep reluctance toward love after past heartbreaks.

What makes this book shine is the irresistible chemistry between the main characters. Aspen’s sunshiny personality is the perfect foil to Pheonix's more guarded and cynical outlook, creating an engaging dynamic that keeps readers hooked. The initial tension between them, sparked by their past interactions and the necessity of working together, adds depth to their evolving relationship.

The backdrop of Magnolia Point during Christmas sets the stage beautifully, with the town’s Southern charm and holiday festivities adding warmth and magic to the story. The plot revolves around a holiday party that Aspen and Phoenix are forced to cater together, leading to humorous moments and some steamy scenes that will leave readers swooning.

Overall, Decked in Red and Greene is a light, fun holiday romance with just the right mix of humour, heat, and heartfelt moments. If you're looking for a story with a cozy small-town feel, a strong-willed heroine, and a gruff but charming leading man, this book will hit all the right notes.

Decked in Red & Greene was absolutely adorable! Phoenix and Aspen, who we first met in Watermelon with You, are back, and I couldn’t wait to dive into this holiday novella. Phoenix is terrified of falling in love—he’s been hurt before and has seen his sister go through heartbreak, so he keeps his guard up and doesn’t let anyone get too close. On the other hand, Aspen, who moved to Magnolia Point and is best friends with his sister and sister-in-law, has had a crush on him from the start. She once put her heart on the line, only to be rejected, so things have been a bit awkward between them ever since.

When Aspen’s best friend and business partner plans a getaway, Phoenix is asked to step in and help. Will Phoenix finally face his feelings for Aspen and take a chance on love, or are they better off as friends? You'll have to read this spicy novella to find out! It's a quick, festive read packed with tension, grumpy-sunshine moments, and holiday cheer. Plus, who doesn’t love Phoenix’s niece, Navy? It's a win-win!

This was a great enemies to lovers kinda trope book, that has a lot of sexual tension even if the characters don't want to admit it. The book is a little fast page, but the story doesn't feel like it's rushed because you still get a lot of detail. I liked that it's dual POV and you get to learn a little about their backstories, whilst also learning why the characters act the way they do to each other.

Aspen defientaly always wanted her best friends brother, but he acted cold to her and she tried to move on so it wasn't awkward between them. Though when Phoenix finally pulls his head out his @ss, things start to move in the right direction. But with everyone being so close and family related, can their relationship work or will it burn just like Phoenix's last relationship. The one that made him scared to want Aspen, though her being his sister's best friend didn't help either

I received an ARC copy of this book and i am voluntarily leaving a review.

Aspen Greene loves the small-town Magnolia Point. She works with her best friend in her food truck and catering events and seeing her friend fall in love with Talon only made her happy. Now if only his brother, Phoenix wouldn’t have tossed her aside when she tried to be his friend. There is just something about him that drew him in, but his very cold exterior to her has finally pushed her away for the last time. Phoenix has had so much going on in his head that the last thing he wanted was a relationship. He had his older brother and sister as well as his niece to keep him grounded and he did like Cora, but he knew that Aspen would be so much more than a friend and he wasn’t ready for that. These two have the most perfect banter especially once he realizes that she is worth battling the emotions in his head. This is the perfect novella to get you in the holiday spirit because this grumpy and sunshine will light up the Christmas tree with their sparks alone.

Aspen moved to Magnolia Point so that she could pursue her dream of owning a food cart. She happens to be best friends with Aspen’s sister even though Aspen has made it clear that her feelings for her aren’t returned. Since then, her attempts to keep her distance have been successful until they find themselves helping their friends by agreeing to handle a catering event together.

From what Phoenix has seen and felt he doesn’t believe the risk of love is worth the reward. This is why he refuses to pursue anything with Aspen even though he is attracted to her. Spending time together forces him to face his feelings for her especially when he realizes what he could lose if he doesn’t.

The less than cordial interactions between Aspen and Phoenix were only masking their true feelings for each other and I enjoyed seeing them stop fighting that they were meant to be and grasp the happy ever after they both deserve.

Decked in Red & Greene is a spicy holiday novella featuring Phoenix banks & Aspen Greene.

Phoenix has had a thing for Aspen since she moved to town but has been scared to pursue her after his previous failed relationship. Aspen has never been shy about her desire to get to know Phoenix, but after he rejects her she attempts to stay clear.

When Aspens best friend and business partner goes out of town with her finance who also happens to be Phoenix’s brother, Phoenix is set to assist Aspen with a catering event. What happens when the two are forced to work together to ensure the event goes smoothly?

I thought this was a cute little story to get me in the mood for the holidays ! This was my first Alexandra Hale book but I thought it was super cute, super fun and also super spicy !

Thank you Alexandra for the ARC!

A delightful holiday novella

I love it when an author blends two worlds. Phoenix Banks is attracted to Aspen Greene. However, because of his past, he is fighting that attraction with everything he has, much to the dismay and bewilderment of Aspen. When the two have to work together, Phoenix realizes what he is giving up and makes a decision that brings us banter, warm family moments, and spice galore!

Alexandra Hale blends the Banks’ of Magnolia Point and the Greene’s of Blackstone Falls to bring two large and loving families together with Aspen and Phoenix. This quick, enjoyable, and steamy read had me smiling throughout. I loved seeing characters from previous books and the foreshadowing of books to come. Ms. Hale packed a bunch of family, emotion, and love in this holiday novella. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

A deliciously, cute, delicately spiced cup of eggnog goodness is coming to you this Christmas in the form of Aspen and Phoenix. After meeting these two in Watermelon With You, I was hoping that these two would have their own novella, and here it is, perfect wee gift.

Phoenix is the grumpy MMC, but OMG how he loves his family, and his niece, Navy, just melts me to an absolute puddle (so perfect defrosting for those in the Northern Hemisphere who have Christmas in winter). Phoenix comes across as more of a grouch towards Aspen, so when they are asked to host an event together, so Cora and Talon can have a mini holiday. What started months prior, before Phoenix threw a candy cane in that wheel, maybe just has a chance to light that smouldering candle once again. But, Phoenix needs to prove it.

A dollop of enemies to lovers, a dash of forced proximity and slathering of chemistry and Alexandra Hale has the perfect recipe for a fun and steamy Christmas novella.

After seeing the sparks fly between Phoenix and Aspen in Watermelon With You? I was excited to see where their story would go and I was not disappointed. Not only is the chemistry there between them but so is a depth to their relationship that comes through in their banter, their teamwork and their vulnerabilities. Alexandra Hale has the ability to write well rounded characters with depth in the short space of a novella which always has me coming back for the next one.

Decked in Red and Greene is full the things I love - emotion, laughs, superb text banter and Alexandra Hale's signature "I've got your back always" family love.

A craving, an obsession, a need

Phoenix attempts to avoid Aspen because she makes him feel too much and it terrified him, but every snarky remark, sassy action and sarcastic smile has him falling deeper and avoidance becomes impossible. I love seeing Phoenix finally admit to himself that he wants Aspen and he sets out to grovel, to woo, to sweep her off her feet and to win her heart in the sweetest and punniest way!
We met Cora and Talin earlier in the series and this book overlapped with theirs in the timeline but we also get to see Bristol (Phoenix and Talon's sister) take the first tentative steps towards dipping her toe in the dating pool again after being widowed, which, despite their teasing, is heartwarming to see. A great family with crazy antics, hilarious conversations and oceans of love.
I read this on Kindle Unlimited.

aaahhhh the perfect little read that I needed!

Phoenix and Aspen finally get their spotlight in the Man of The Month Series, we've watched them dance around their whatever it is and now finally its here .

Aspen knows what she wants, and that's Phoenix but poor Phoenix has had his heart destroyed before and he knows that Aspen could and would bring him to his knees. When he has no choice to help Aspen out in her food truck, that she runs with her bestie who also happens to be Phoenix's brother girlfriend, for a large catering job, he's F*#k it moment is upon him and the temperature inside the food truck is off the charts.

These two were the cutest, both are sweet and sensitive. both wanting to love and be loved. The whole read had amazing banter from all characters, Thank you Alexandra for another great read. You never disappoint me, this ARC was,as always, much appreciated ♥️♥️

I adored Decked in Red & Greene! I just loved both Aspen and Phoenix. Aspen was such a confident woman, who knew what she wanted and went after it but also didn’t let herself get down when things didn’t happen the way she’d hoped. Phoenix was a great example of a grumpy hero who had let past events shape him and really had a heart of gold for those he loved. I loved the secondary characters. I usually find novellas a bit difficult to get into because they’re such short stories that i feel they aren’t finished well but that was not the case with Decked- it was a great book that had enough to keep you interested, entertained and the relationship got stronger and more serious without it seeming to fast. Great book!

Quick and easy read! This is the second book in the magnolia point series and it was wonderfully interconnected.

She took her shot and got shut down but it was more than that.. Him being able to take the time to come to terms with his own emotions was huge. He discovers that he can have the woman that he wants and makes sure to do whatever is necessary to make her his. But I love that she makes him work for it.

I loved how this book shows the effect a health can have on more than just the spouse. The way he took a lot of time to allow himself to grieve and then share it with the woman he’s falling for.

I do wish we got a tiny chapter of her siblings interacting with him, but I love the crossover character from the Love Beach series.

This is the perfect holiday novella! If you’re looking for a quick fun, sweet, and steamy read, this book is just what you need.

Phoenix finds himself attracted to Aspen from their first meeting. Unfortunately, she also reminds him of someone from his past he’s trying to forget. They have undeniable chemistry that often results in plenty of sexual tension.

Aspen is the perfect sunshine to Phoenix’s grumpy and best of all, no third act break up. He quickly becomes possessive in the hottest way!

I loved being able to revisit some of my favorite characters (Feels Like Falling and Watermelon With Me) and learning more of their stories! The banter between characters is one of my favorite things about Alexandra’s books.
