As frontman of up-and-coming rock band, High Velocity, werewolf Zane Alexander has everything a man could want: Fame, fortune, friendship, and a pack to call home. Well, almost everything. Despite being able to take his pick of pretty much any woman, he wants the one girl he can’t have—the one girl who’s eluded his every advance.
Charlie Banks has always had a thing for Zane, but being the band’s head of security, she knows firsthand just the sort of guy he is. She’s determined not to become just another notch on his bedpost, but if doesn’t stop the want for a mate curling in her gut. It’ll happen, someday—it just won’t be Zane. She’s decided that it’s time to leave High Velocity, to find a nice little home and settle down to live the rest of her life, away from sexy smiles and ripped bodies of rock stars.
But when someone threatens Zane’s life, she’s the only one he wants to protect him. Except, Zane has a hidden agenda. One that involves claiming Charlie as his mate, once and for all.
Rock star and shifter Zane Alexander has everything he wants at his fingertips, except head of security Charlie Banks. From the first day she joined the band she made it clear she wasn’t interested, but Zane knows she is his mate and although not a saint is waiting it out. When Charlie unexpectedly gives her notice, Zane comes up with a plan to keep her with him until he can convince her she is right where she needs to be, with him, as his mate and lover.
Best laid plans very rarely work and Zane’s is a doozy, his warped idea starts with a pretend threat against him only to have the threat become very real. If he comes clean, he loses Charlie but when the attacks become personal he knows he has to risk everything to keep her safe. I thought this was highly entertaining, filled with the potential for more stories each character is intriguing and polar opposites of one another. I liked that Charlie had maintained a professionalism throughout until she gave notice and the real Charlie comes out to play and throws everyone off kilter.
My Review: This is one of those books that I REALLY didn't have room for in my schedule, but when I read the blurb, I knew I had to read it. I am SO HAPPY that I rearranged a few things to make room for this one. It was sooooo good!! Seriously, if you like books about rock bands, you are going to like this book and it has the added bonus that all the members of the band are werewolf shifters. It's a win-win!!
Charlie is head of security for High Velocity, but has decided it's time for her to move on and quit. She's given her two week's notice, but hasn't told the band, who have all become very close to her. She tells them on her last day and they don't take it well, especially Zane...the lead for the band and the alpha of the group. He can't accept her not being with them. He's always wanted her and his wolf just can't accept this. So he hatches a crazy plan with 2 other members of the band to get her to stay. She can't abandon them if they are in danger...especially Zane...so they create a fake stalker.
This was such a good book. There are four members in the band and they are all very unique. I really liked all of them and hope that they all get their own story. Benji is the youngest and the one that was closest to Charlie in this book. I really loved him. He's young and idealistic, but has an amazing heart that suffered a bit of a break here when Charlie chose Zane. I REALLY want his story next.
There's a bit of a suspense line when the fake stalker becomes real. I figured it out fairly early in the story, but I still really enjoyed that aspect of the story. Overall it was just a great fun read.
Sexy Rock Stars + Werewolf Shifters = A Really Good and Entertaining Read!!!
I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.
Resisting Velocity is a werewolf love story. It follows a rock band on their tour. This rock band is a little different than most other bands. All of the members, including their security detail are wolves. But it was set in the everyday world, not the world of packs and wolf colonies. So sometimes it was easy to forget that these guys were werewolves. They seemed just like normal rockstars.
Zane seemed totally different on the inside than he portrayed himself on the outside. He seems like a tough, rocker, womanizer on the outside, but on the inside he was just a guy trying to get a girl to love him. I did want to see a little bit more about why he initially liked Charlie. He liked her for forever it seemed like, but I didn't really get why. I wanted to know more about their relationship prior to page one. I really liked Zane though and I admired his determination when it came to Charlie. He never gave up, which was really sweet. Charlie really does seem to be a great match for him, and I really liked the scenes where they were together the most.
I thought Charlie's progression was more believable. She knew she was attracted to Zane but that he was trouble and so she stayed away. But he eventually wore her defenses down with a crazy(!!) plan that I can't even believe worked so well. The plan was seriously nuts, I was surprised he got anyone to go along with it.
Resisting Velocity was a really nice romance. It seemed like we just got to glimpse a few moments in the life of Charlie and Zane. I loved the scene in the gym with all the guys and I would have liked more like it. I like that this is a series, so I hope we get to see more of the guys in the next book. I enjoyed Resisting Velocity, but I was not blown away with it. I enjoyed all the aspects of it. The characters were good, the romance was hot, and the ending was satisfying but nothing went above and beyond to me. Still, I liked the book and I can see it being something werewolf and shifter fans will love.
I’m not sure if it was supposed to happen this way, but I thought this book was funny! I mean, I giggled lots. An uptight goodie two shoes female security guard and a laid back party prince rock star literally clash and then almost reverse roles. Charlie is your lovely female security to a big time rock band. Zane is your typical party hardy male lead singer. Well, when Charlie says she’s had enough and is leaving, Zane realizes he won’t see her again and devises a very stupid plan to keep her. But it back fires- big time!!
first, the funny part is when Charlie decides to give Zane payback for all his crap. She dresses very sexy, throws a few fits! Zane is literally thrown for a loop and decides he’s going to plan a “hit” on himself to make her his personal body guard so she literally has to stay. And BOY OH BOY, there’s is so much sexual tension!! Zane wants her but sometimes goes the complete wrong way about it. And Charlie refuses to get her heart broken by a stupid rock star it really is funny, until it gets real!!
so when things really start happening and things get crazy, Charlie wants to protect Zane, and Zane realizes he’s in way too deep! And the band members, I like them. Being part of a werewolf pack, did I forget to mention this part- OOPS!! They have a bond and sometimes it makes them crazy and sometimes it can mean the world to have people around you to support you.
I really liked this one. Not too long but not too short and it has elements of everything. Paranormals, romance, action, mystery. Overall, it was a fun quick read and very enjoyable! This is a series so I definitely look forward to more books by theses authors and future stories!! Plus HOW COOL IS IT THAT ONE AUTHOR HAS MY DOGS NAME!! Xander is the coolest name ever- my lil man says so, and he can’t wait for more too!! LOL!! 4 BIG PAWS UP!!
As head of security for the band High Velocity, Charlie Banks has seen first hand how the band members operate. She has also pushed away every advance the lead singer, Zane, has put on her. She doesn’t want to be another notch in a very long bedpost.
Zane has always had a thing for Charlie, and when she announces she is leaving her position as head of security, Zane realizes he must take things into his own hands to make her stay, and also make her realize that they belong together.
And they’re werewolves.
The camaraderie between the band mates was great, and I found myself laughing more than once. I liked Charlie and the way she could more than hold her own against a pack of alpha males. The scenes where the band was playing at the concerts reminded me of my old concert going days.
The story itself was also good, but somewhat predictable, which is not always a bad thing. I also thought that the werewolf aspect could have been left out, and it would have still been a good story.
One thing that struck me as a little odd was the fact that the men seemed more alpha in human form than they did in werewolf form. The scenes with them as werewolves were almost sweet, as I imagined a bunch of puppies running around playing with each other.
As I read the story, I was talking to a friend and I commented that it seemed as though there were two different writers (I hadn’t looked at the author). Obviously, I was right. I think the story could have been better if the writing had been blended a bit better, which is difficult to do when two people have distinct writing styles.
Would I recommend this book? Absolutely. It’s a fun read especially for the werewolf crowd
This book was provided to me by Bewitching Book Tours for my honest review
Resisting Velocity is the story of rock star Zane Alexander. Zane is the lead singer of the band High Velocity and he and his band mates are wolves. Zane is wildly attracted to Charlie Banks, his head of security. Charlie acknowledges the mutual attraction, but she doesn’t want to be another notch on the womanizer’s bed post. Zane is beside himself when Charlie decides to quit her job and seeks to find a way to keep her by his side.
I really liked the characters in the story. They are all fun, sexy, and witty. Although Zane is certainly the Alpha and leader of the pack all of the characters are strong. Aside from the main characters I really like Benji with his quiet strength and his kind heart. Parker, another member of the band, is the slightly obnoxious and egotistical lovable jerk.
There were a few editing mistakes that I noticed while reading that I hope are addressed in the future. Another issue I had was that when I was really getting into a scene, sometimes it would abruptly change, leaving me just a tad bewildered. Aside from those few issues, the authors provided the reader with a fast -paced, and fun read.
After reading the first book in the series I realized that there are some aspects that need some tweaking. However, I really do love the love the concept of the story. The authors left me anxious to see what happens to the other members of the band, and would be happy to give the next book a try!
