The Royal Matchmaking Competition: The Flight of the Gryphons

Rate this book
Action packed fantasy romance with a dash of elven magic.
A pirate fleet conquering the seas.

A princess disobeying the king’s direct orders.

A villain who’s fallen for a woman he can never marry.

A commoner protecting the princess at all costs.

Princess Zoya and several bachelors competing for her hand in marriage are captured by pirates. Her enemies will brutally use her gryphons to conquer and destroy if she doesn’t rescue them. Unfortunately, one suitor is a mole working against her every action.

Zoya’s on a mission to uncover the mole’s identity—even as she pursues her stolen gryphons across the globe. But there are worse things to be had. Zoya doesn’t know which foreign nation is telling the truth. Some are playing games and making backhanded alliances. The clock is ticking. There’s only so much time until the pirates conquer the seas and steal her family’s opal mines. …

Side effects to reading this story might include falling in love with handsome book characters, and imagining yourself riding on gryphons, ignoring the outside world for a day, or two, and feeling heroic as you fight off pirates. Read at your own risk!

This is the epic conclusion to the Royal Matchmaking Competition Series.

In the finale of the Royal Matchmaking Competition series, Princess Zoyechka must decide on her final contestant while attempting to stop an impending war with a backstabbing kingdom and a pirate prince, and prove herself as her father's heir.

This book didn't go the way I wanted it to go. I admit my disappointment with it caused me to take longer than average reading and reviewing it. It isn't that Zoiy Galloay's writing is in any way to blame, but I'm not overly fond of the enemies to lovers trope, and I felt that Zoyechka's chosen candidate was a poor match for her and that his faults and flaws were glossed over so that she could justify being with him, when there was a better contestant who took her thoughts and feelings into account without trying to change her, or stop her from doing the things she needed to do. It was very frustrating.

I feel badly that I have to post this review considering how much I enjoyed this series, but this final book really wasn't for me. I'm sure there will be some out there that enjoy it and find it a fun and fitting conclusion, and since I do enjoy Ms. Galloay as an author, I would still happily give future books authored by her a chance. 3 out of 5 stars. Thank you to BookSirens and Ms. Zoiy G. Galloay for the advanced readers copy. This is a voluntary review. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

I received a beta version of this book and it was a lovely conclusion for the RMC series.
It's cute, easy to read, easy to follow and a light read. Like a Young Adult fairytale, with a happy ending guaranteed.

I read this ARC provided through NetGalley in return for a review.

I love all things romantic competition, and while I did like the finale to this series, I didn’t love it.

The main character themselves had immature tendencies that borderlines on bratty, but they were also a young princess. I think younger audiences wouldn’t mind her behavior or dialogue as much. For the story being about finding their soulmate, I didn’t feel like I was experiencing falling in love with any of the contestants. It felt more like I was being told a lot more than I was feeling immersed into the emotional aspect. I also don’t think the characters did a lot of development even though the plot was written well and would lend to it.

I didn’t like that the aspect of the main character having to wear glasses is described as a “flaw” despite how everyone reacted to it. It was vanity and if anything that was the true “flaw” because there’s nothing “scandalous” about needing to wear glasses. Also another side character had a stutter and instead of just stating such, the author proceeded to write it into the dialogue, and I didn’t understand the purpose of displaying a speech impediment if it wasn’t to further some point.

The plot was good, if predictable, I did enjoy the linear progression. It helped that the pacing was well-thought out. I do think the author preferred to write about the princess’ adventures instead of dating and being interested in the competition, and while I can appreciate a side plot, where I came for the competition but stayed for the side story, it was difficult to remember as I read that this was first and foremost a competition to determine the supreme king of the five cities. At least that is what I was expecting.

There was nothing that said this is a boring or uninteresting story, and I did enjoy reading it, but I was just expecting more.

What a wild ride this book was! I had been eagerly awaiting this book since I read Princess Zoyechka and wow it did not disappoint! I know Zoiy said we would be guessing up until the end with who she picked for her husband, but I didn't realize just how back and forth I'd be with my own guesses. I definitely think my top favorites were Jean Luc and Scott in this bachelorette style YA fantasy book.

I really loved learning more about the politics of their world and how extensive it was as well as getting to see more of their world in this book. Learning more about how gryphons could be used in combat was also interesting.

I was not completely shocked by the end, but I will say that I kind of wished she had picked a different love interest for her husband, though I do understand completely why it ended up the way it did! I think all the matches in the Epilogue made sense and worked well together, but I had to constantly remind myself that I wasn't the princess actually picking someone lol. I'm glad we got to see how the final few contestants in the Royal Matchmaking Competition fared after not being selected to marry the princess. Lots of happily ever afters for sure! I also really like the creative way we got to see little snippets of far into the future after the book ended - and if you're wondering what I mean then you'll have to read to find out!

This is the 5th installment of The Royal Matchmaking Competition Series, but if you want to read Princess Zoyechka's story then you can read the previous book (#4) and this one without having to read the prior 3 if you don't want to.

Highly recommend if you enjoy YA fantasy, The Bachelorette, and world building.

Galloay creates another enjoyable and entertaining installment with 'The Flight of the Gryphons'. It is a light YA read that is fun but has little substance as it mirrors the mistakes in book four.
The issues are legion. They include two dimensional characters. Galloay also shows her lack of military knowledge and research, and promotes questionable morals by showing young women that making out with one man while professing love to another, condoning divorce, homosexuality, and other poor choices to be acceptable and have little repercussions. Galloay's breaking of her tone and using contemporary, meaningless terms such as 'be my authentic self' grind terribly.
Galloay does show skill as she deepens the political storyline and her characterization of Zoyecheka as she changes from completely immature to trying to do the right thing. Healthy distance from exes, respecting your husband, and having to sacrifice if one wants to attain a good marriage (or choosing not to marry if this is not suitable). Zoya also learns that she should not lead men on.
The plot is more clear cut in this novel, but Zoya makes poor decisions. One of these is her value on chemistry. Her choices, whilst romantic, are unhealthy ways to seek a husband real life. Young women need to know that how to seek a man who will honour them. Given that this book is clearing aimed at teens, the emphasis on fledgling love and not finding an honourable husband is concerning.
Once again, with thorough editing this novel could have been amazing. As it is, it is a fun and clean YA read that I enjoyed and think will be a fun no brainer for other adults. However, I would not be passing this onto impressionable or young teens.

I have received an ARC and it is fully my own choice to leave a review.

I am sad to hear that this is the last book in this series.
I have loved all the books and it has been quite a journey for this royal family.

The Flight of the Gryphons is the final book in Princess Zoyechka’s RMC and it is quite action packed.
Princess Zoyechka feels like she hasn’t accomplished anything, but she definitely gets to show how brave and smart she is.
At the same time she learns what heartbreak is, but also show compassion and show how to forgive and move on.

I don’t know if I agree with the winner of the RMC - I was hoping for someone else to win it - but I do understand the choice at the end - and I like the explanation behind it.

I can only recommend you reading this whole series. It is full of funny and awkward scenes - then there are action and love as well. All the books have it all.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Welp I’m 1 for 3 on which bachelor I prefer. That aside I still enjoyed reading this book and series. My one complaint with this book however is it felt like even with a focus on less contestants there were a few development issues. The motivations and personality did seem to change between this book and the prior one, especially with the positive trend Scott was developing. Secondly character development did seem to stall in favor or the “favorite” bachelors. I do think it was a smart choice to end here as a lot of the politics became very predictable. Overall I still enjoyed the book and am looking forward to the next series within this world!

So I will admit that I wasn't as crazy about this installment as the others. I'm still giving it 4 stars because I really enjoy how easy these are to read and I love a good Bachelor trope with hints of magic, but the final selection is what made this go downhill for me. I have lots of thoughts, but all of them spoilers. Just know that I'm not the forgive & forget type.

I will say - I didn't know this would be the last installment of the RMC and I absolutely loved the newspaper clippings at the end. It was a nice way to wrap things up without me questioning, "Well? What happened next?" That being said, I'm still bummed there won't be another. I've really been enjoying my time with these.

An epic ending to the series. I loved how Zoyechka stays true to her wildness but learns to accept help when needed. She proves that she is fit to be queen when she insists that she be allowed to fight in the war with the pirates. She accepts that she must choose someone who would stand by her and rule the kingdom. This book is full of danger, intrique, emotions tangled with falsehoods and in the end, everyone will be happy. I throughly enjoyed reading this series and look forward to reading more books from Zoiy.

I received an advance review copy The Flight of the Gryphons for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I thought that book was good especially as a YA Romance. I had to keep reminding myself to be in the mind of a young girl. I do agree that reading the fourth book would have probably been better before reading this one.

First, I did like that Zoiy goes on adventures. I love the themes of pirates, gryphons and the like. With that, I do think it was a bit all over the place. But I could see the joy it would bring to YAs.

Overall, I gave this a 3/5 stars because I could see the appeal for YAs, but it wasn't necessarily my cup of tea which is ok.

The Flight if the Gryphons s book 5 in The Royal Matchmaking Competition by Zoiy Galloay. I was happy that this book picked up where book 4 ended… the Princess Zoiy is captured and several of the RMC contestants, including a bachelor who betrays Zoiy. I don't know if this is the last book in the series, but, it is exciting and the ending was very surprising and I thought it was perfect. I felt that the author was able to tie up all lose ends, give each important character a look at their future, and I loved the epilogue! The Flight of the Gryphons is fantastic. I received an arc for free and am leaving my review voluntarily.

This is book 5 of the Royal matchmaking Competition series and a standalone story of princess Zoya and her suitors that are competing to win her hand. This is the final book in the series and the winner will be announced. I like that in the story who you think is the bad guy may not be that. The story includes adventure and a happy ending.

I loved this book so much! Lots of excitement and unexpected twists and surprises. The path to true live is never smooth especially in a competition. No one is perfect and forgiveness is key. The growth of the characters as well as their maturity bodes well for the future leadership roles and love. I love this series. I was lucky to receive an advanced reader copy via BookSirens and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

Great ending to the series. We really got to see how much Zoya has matured since the start of the series in this one and things are tied up nicely. I particularly like that fact that we get to see what happened to the contestants other than the one she chose in the epilogue. So many just ignore the non main characters when wrapping things up and this book didn’t.

Beautiful Unlikely Fairytale!

"The Flight of the Gryphon's" is the finale of The Royal Matchmaking Competition series written by Zoiy Galloway. This entire series was part Bachelorette and part Dating Game, with more than a fair share of fantasy and magical qualities. I loved this series, especially the last two about Princess Zoyechka. She is very beautiful, but she sure gets into a lot of trouble, especially when her gryphon's (her babies) get stolen by pirates, and she and most of her bachelor contestants set out to rescue them. Besides this case of gryphon's being taken, one of the bachelors drugged her, stole from her, and this creates a big problem. Will the knowledge of this bachelor's deeds be the undoing of the lovely princess? Or will Zoya be able to save the life of one of her most loved bachelors'? Read this wonderful book and enjoy Zoyechka's many adventures. This is NOT a standalone novel. To fully understand this series, start with Princess Qloey, and continue with books 2-5. I gave this book 5 big fat stars.

I received a copy via BookSirens and this is my honest and voluntary review.

The final book in the matchmaking series. Zoya and the remaining contestants of the Royal Matchmaking Competition are still trying to find out who tried to poison Zoya.

On top of trying to fish herself out of trouble and fight a war, Zoya must choose a husband.

Who will she choose and what chaos will Zoya face next?

*Thank you to Netgalley and the author for this advanced copy in exchange for an honest review*

The final installment of the Royal Matchmaking Competition, The Flight of the Gryphons, finishes Princess Zoyechka's story. Picking up where the last book left off, Zoya along with a number of her bachelors have been captured and Prince Roman is revealed to be a traitor. This book proceeds to develop Zoya more as a character and I enjoyed watching her mature. However, I had some serious issues with this book that impacted my rating. Before I get into those, I want to highlight what I liked about the book.

As I already mentioned, the character development of Zoya was probably my favorite part of the book. Although she still made some stupid decisions, you can really tell that she has grown and matured throughout the two books. I also really enjoyed the added POVs in this book. While the book was mainly told from Zoya’s POV, other characters such as Roman, Scott, and Zoya’s father received their own chapters. This added to the depth of the story and helped the plot develop more naturally. Lastly, I loved that some of the contestants were mentioned in the epilogue. A lot of times with books like these, the characters who are not chosen are completely forgotten about and we never learn what happened to them. Several of the bachelors either make an appearance or are mentioned in the flashforward and I really appreciate that. Now on to what I did not like.

My biggest issue with this book was the ending. I did not read the other books in the series, so I am unfamiliar with the author’s writing style, and I do not know how she ended her other books. I do know that I really really hated this ending. I don’t want to spoil anything so I’m going to keep this short (if you want to know what I thought with spoilers, dm me and I will happily rant) Basically, I knew exactly where the ending was going and even though I knew how it was going to end, I still hated it. The ending was rushed, there was no buildup, and then there was the actual decision that was just so completely wrong. Okay, I better stop before I spoil anything.

In short, the book was okay, but the ending really ruined the whole story for me.

Must be read in order. This is the final book in the RMC series and the 2nd part of Princess Zoya's story. Full of adventure and twists. Who does she choose? Which contestant is the betrayer and why?.
