Author of Dark Waters, Rise of the Ornia and Book of the Dead,Gayle Miller spent her childhood in the Scottish countryside. Her love of the rural landscape can easily be seen in her writing. When she is not creating fantasy worlds, she can be found watching sci-fi/fantasy and spending time with her daughter and border collie.

When we are introduced to Malichi, I am unsure if he is the hero or villain of the story. Prima facie he does not appear to be a pleasant character as we meet him in mid hunt. The Amalyians, Malichi's prey, appear to be the perfect predators. The roles of hunter/ prey are often reversed throughout the story.

It is difficult to say too much about the story without giving anything away. It is a tale of loss and survival. It is also a story about delivering justice and restoring peace and maybe a book which makes us think about finding out all the facts before making snap judgements.

I really enjoyed reading `Dark Waters'. Things were not always as they seemed. Lots of action and a few surprises along the way. I am looking forward to the next part.

I would highly recommend this book to fantasy fans.
