Arseni

What’s worse than being stalked by a sociopathic nutjob?

I used to think nothing. For years I’ve lived in fear of a man I know to be cruel, possessive, and violent. Weaving through terror has become second nature.

Then Arseni shows up.

My old foster son was a mistake I thought had stopped haunting me, but I was wrong. He’s back with a thirst for revenge.

He’s even crueler. Even more possessive. Even more violent.

And he has no idea I’ve already been claimed.

So what’s worse than being stalked by a sociopathic nutjob?

Being stalked by two.

A note from

Arseni is an 18+ DARK captive mafia romance set in the world of the Las Vegas Petrov Bratva that contains graphic scenes of violence and dubious adult situations. A full list of content warnings can be found inside the book. No other books need to be read to enjoy this age-gap standalone. Enjoy!

July 9, 2025 Update:

At the same time I wrote my GR review, I decided to send a message to the author. I rarely reach out to the author in all the hundreds of romances that I've read. I'm not sure why I don't, but I thought of how much I love this author's stories and I wanted them to know.

Even if they change how they write, go in a different direction, or stop writing, I just want them to know I really loved everything that they did and I am happy to support them.

Nicole responded to my message and was so sweet!!! She will be continuing to write these character dynamics that are dark in some of her upcoming stories. I can't wait!

July 8, 2025 Review:

I knew I was going to read this one sitting and I put off reading this as long as I could, because once I finished Nicole Cypher's Arseni I just don't know when the next book will be!

In her afterword, Cypher says this is the end to the Bratva series although she is open to writing Roman or Nikita's stories potentially. Sigh. Her Las Vegas crime series was SO GOOD.

I know I cut up bad in another romance review, complaining about the maternalistic undertones, intended or not, of the heroine and hero's relationship...

And now with mommy and daddy dirty talk kink staring at me in the face. In a foster mom and foster son context no less. And I am eating this shit up like I can't get enough of Arseni's dirty talk!!!

Also, as a reader I may be in the minority but it's a major pet peeve when an author spends way too much time writing the past of a hero and heroine rather than focus on propelling the present story forward.

I really liked that we only get one scene of them meeting in the beginning in the foster setting and that this part of their relationship wasn't dissected to death. It would have made the story obvious and a little simple, boring. I am interested in their present, and having their past revealed in interesting tidbits rather than being spoon-fed a biographical timeline.

I will leave it at that because I absolutely loved this story and I don't want to say too much because it's a fun ride. Cypher's writing just pulls you straight in. There's not as much humour in this, a bit more feelings of vulnerability and love here. Not as much capers, more of an overall mystery.

ALSO THE EPILOGUE!! EEK. So flipping cute.

Wow, this book was just WOW. This pitch-black captive mafia romance was intense. I immediately was sucked into this story it had me feeling all kinds of emotions. I was definitely squirming. Check your triggers.

Arseni lived in the foster system his whole childhood. He is completely twisted and unhinged. 6 years after living with his last foster parent he's in the mafia. He is a complete psychopath.

Margot is his foster mom. She's being stalked by not one but two stalkers. I loved how her character developed and how much stronger she got throughout the story. She goes through a lot in this story.

This 13-year age-gap was written so well. There were a lot of parts that were difficult to read because of the dark nature. I'm going back to read the rest of the series because this book was just so deliciously dark.

This book was quite a shocker for me, and not much shocks me after reading lots of pitch black romance. However I’ve never read such a large reverse age gap, and if that’s not taboo enough she was also his foster mother??? Damn this plot was thrilling, and left me with goosebumps. He’s obsessed with a dark past, and is so unhinged. I enjoyed this, just not my type of taboo romance. I clearly don’t have a “mommy kink”

this one's hard for me to rate, because I can't really be objective. I knew going in that it was going to hit some of my squicks (foster parent is not it for me), so I tried to be aware of that and experience the story anyway. I once again admire how Nicole Cypher fucking commits to the darkness of the story and her characters. there's no "omg the person was saved right before bad thing could happen" - no, the bad thing does happen, and the characters have to live with the consequences of it, and learn to forgive anyway. and I find that so fucking beautiful.

and I think this is the first time in my life I've actually wanted MORE flashback sequences from a book haha. I think I might have appreciated seeing more of the breakdown between Arseni and Margot's first relationship-ish.

but assessing the characters and the chemistry is where it gets difficult for me, because of the aforementioned squick. I can't tell if Margot is actually tstl and pathetic, or if she's doing her best, because her attraction DOES disgust me. it made it really hard for me to root for her and for the romance, and I found myself going OMG ARSENI YOU CAN DO BETTER PLS haha. though I will admit that made it easier to relate to her sense of shame, because I'm viewing her through the lens of disgust too.

this also meant I couldn't feel immersed in and gripped by the climax as I normally do. but like, when I step apart from the story, I could tell that it was a good one. it's written with Nicole Cypher's typical brand of visceral emotion, and there were definitely bits that punched me in the gut. It was a good story - it just wasn't for me, I think. and to this story's credit, I didn't really have to force myself to get through it - I was still interested. I just wasn't immersed and in love.

tl;dr: if the relationship doesn't squick you, it's a fucking good story. if it does, then you might want to skip this one.

After Luka’s brutal story I was expecting much worse with Arseni’s. It’s dark but not as much as Luka’s was. When this started, I thought why on earth would a young boy on the cusp of adulthood be fostered with a single woman. He is physically stronger than her and right away shows how much of an asshole he can be. When Margot sends him away to free herself of inappropriate thoughts that is when she really makes a giant mistake.

Arseni, after what he saw as an unforgivable betrayal from Luka is now working for former Pakhan Nikita. When he comes across Margot on one of his jobs, he decides to get his ‘revenge’ on her by kidnapping her and convincing Nikita to have him ‘train’ her to be used as one of his whores.

Margot though has been dealing with a stalker and blackmailer who we find out is actually a figure from Arseni’s past. Nicole has written surprising twists before that I never saw coming but here it was obvious (to me) who the stalker was. Maybe though this was deliberate to make me scream at the page when trusting Arseni chooses the wrong person to believe again.

Even as I cannot understand why she did what she did with Hudson – having sex with an underage boy repeatedly - that did not make Margot’s subsequent blackmail, stalking, kidnap, and rape okay.

The repeated rejection and betrayal Arseni experienced maybe makes some of his actions understandable, but it did also show his immaturity and compounds the taboo nature of their relationship.

We didn’t find out if there were any consequences of a dirty cop dying or what happened with Margot’s child pornography charges and the epilogue was a bit rushed.

There was going to be stories from Roman (yes) and Nikita (no, no, no) but if this is the last one from the Las Vegas Petrov Bratva then I’ll take the happy ending we have here.

Let me start by saying that the foster system seriously failed here. What universe thinks it’s a good idea to place a 17-year-old traumatized boy into the home of a single woman with zero preparation? It's no surprise Margot is in over her head, unintentionally joining the long list of adults who have let Arseni down. But make no mistake, while her missteps are rooted in helplessness and naivety, they don’t justify the storm of cruelty Arseni unleashes when their paths cross again years later. As this series progresses, it’s clear that each installment sinks deeper into the shadows and this one is the darkest yet. Margot’s story is raw and harrowing, laced with trauma that’s both disturbing and deeply moving. Her resilience is incredible, but it’s painful to witness. Arseni, shaped by a lifetime of betrayal and abandonment, channels his rage in ways that are hard to stomach. His pain is understandable, but his actions, especially toward Margot, push the boundaries of forgiveness. This book is not just dark, it’s twisted. And just to complicate matters, there’s a second stalker with his sights set on Margot, ratcheting up the tension. The chemistry between Margot and Arseni is undeniable, but it’s not an easy path. Their connection is born from pain, and their romance is a slow burn full of jagged edges and emotional landmines. Still, amid all the chaos, there's something beautiful about the way these two broken souls begin to heal. It's a second-chance romance laced with moral ambiguity, emotional devastation, and a sliver of redemption. Not for the faint of heart, this story pulls no punches. But if you can handle the darkness, the emotional payoff is absolutely worth it.

If you thought Arseni was bad in the earlier books, buckle up—because you haven’t seen anything yet. He’s darker, more twisted, and unapologetically cruel. A master manipulator with sadistic tendencies, Arseni isn’t here to be your typical mafia antihero—he’s here to push every limit. And I was completely here for it. (Yes, that probably says more about me than it does about him... but I regret nothing! 😂)

This book stands out as the darkest in the Las Vegas Petrov Bratva series—not because of mafia violence, but due to the deeply disturbing and traumatic experiences Margot endures. Her storyline is heartbreaking, and it’s her pain and strength that give the book its emotional depth. Margot, once Arseni’s foster mother, finds herself in a brutal situation, and her journey is not an easy one to read.

What makes Arseni so compelling is the moral ambiguity. He spends much of the book deflecting blame and justifying his cruelty. Even when reunited with Margot, he’s quick to lay blame elsewhere rather than confront his own darkness. And yet, by the end, the question remains: is this a redemption arc—or are we just learning to fully accept him for what he is?

Either way, this book was a fantastic, haunting read. The emotional weight, the twisted relationships, and the morally gray characters kept me turning pages nonstop. If this is the last book in the series, it’s a bold, unforgettable finale. But if we’re lucky enough to get one more... I’m ready.

After being a victim of the system herself when she is grown, she wants to become a foster parent. She is expecting a young child who she can help mentor, who she gets is a 17-year-old who has seen darkness things and is street hardened and manipulative. She has to request a new placement for him as she knows she cannot help him and his behavior becomes more taunting of her. Now, years later, he shows up in her office and makes demands of her. He was actually there for another reason, but when he saw her and recognized her, he figured he could use her to his advantage. Now a member of the Bratva, he has continued on his very morally gray path. When he kidnaps her he taints her and pushes her beyond bounds. At the same time she forces him to confront feelings he didn’t think he had. This is a very twisted story is definitely a cap or captive story and they both have their own side drama that they’re trying to work out. It was rough at times and if you are triggered by SA and violence this is probably not something you should read. I thought it was a little chaotic in the beginning and well I am happy that they got their own form of happily ever after, it was a little weirdly vanilla after what they had just been through. From nerves to endearments it felt it just came out of left field and was not a natural transition.

Arseni is certainly suspenseful and a page turning age gap dark mafia romance story which had me on the edge of my seat. Arseni contains a fantastic plot, amazing characters and a breathtaking ending for the main characters. The characters are well developed and beautifully executed throughout the book. The characters are quite entertaining, interesting and intriguing all at the same time. I found myself not wanting to set this book down for a single second until I read the last page. The story is beautifully written, amazingly balanced with action/romance and perfectly executed by Nicole Cypher. She continues to create and write phenomenal romances that I absolutely enjoy reading and can hardly wait to see what her next book will be about. The main characters of Arseni are Arseni and Margot. The chemistry between these two incredible characters is undeniably irresistible to the point where neither one of them could no longer ignore the feelings developing between them. I enjoyed getting to know both Arseni and Margot as well as witnessing their story come to life throughout the book. I love that they have a happy ending to their fantastic story. AN ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL DARK MAFIA ROMANCE STORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Arseni is unapologeticly an arsehole. And Margot is scaredy little mouse.
Thats my first impression.
Getting to know them, Arseni still suoer arsehole.. Lol
But i see this broken boy who lost too many people who he trusted to love and choose him always. He lost faith with everyone, making him this mean SOB, selfish and have no moral code. He's angry and with everyone and think he is the biggest victim of all, and didnt see how he is the man that he hate when he was a boy. A bully and a villain.
While Margot, its dark and deepest secret that, i think, we all have it. A mistake that becomes the biggest mistake of her life. A little in heart who is so lonely and heartbroken, she look for love in the wrong place and wrong person. Margot is us in the weakest time.

I love every second of this book, but the end was solved easier than i expect it to be. I cant even say clearly what happened to the stalker. And like Arseni said, Margot forgive too easily. I dont care if she got her happy ending, but that first and second time, its rape.

Arseni is book five of the Las Vegas Petrov Bratva.

If you thought Arseni was bad in the previous book, then you haven't seen anything yet. He is dark and deviant. He is manipulative and cruel. But I was there for it all and loved it! That might say more about me than Arseni though LOL. Due to his sadistic tendencies, he tends to blame others for his downfalls. Once he is reunited with his foster mother, Margot, he lays blame on someone else.

I feel of the books in the series this one is the darkest. Not due to mafia violence, but due to the $exu@l violence in which Margot has found herself trapped in. She goes through a lot in order for Arseni to be redeemed. But in the end, does he actually redeem himself, or do we just fully accept him for what he is?

Fantastic read! This might be the last book in the series or we might get one more. I guess we will have to wait and find out.

Nail Biting Danger and Suspense...
Wow. Another amazing book in this Las Vegas Petrov Bratva series!
It's important to read the 'Before You Begin' section at the beginning, as some events may be triggering for some. With that said, it also brings some serious suspense, heat, and mystery to this story--which I found extremely gripping. It was so hard to put this book down!!
Arseni is damaged with a history that can make you empathize with him, while still finding him difficult to like, as a human. Deep down, he does have a heart, it's just that it's been broken by so many over the years.
It's hard to believe that anyone could forgive and find the space in their heart to fall in love, but the more that's revealed, the more that happens, and the closer they get, Margot proves to be that rare soul who is capable of such a thing.
Awesome, awesome read!.

Arseni is a young man that still carries the hurt inside from his childhood. He is dark, twisted, and dangerous, but he's also a man that wants to be loved and cared about.

She's been lonely long enough. She believes that if she can help a young person find their way in life, she will be fulfilled and find someone to care for and that cares about her, but the first foster kid she takes in is dangerous in many ways. Margot gets more trouble than she ever expected and it will last for years.

This story was dark, depraved, and twisted in many ways. However, I enjoy those types of stories, so to me it was really good. Arseni is probably the darkest so far in this series, and it was hard to put it down. I've loved the Las Vegas Petrov Bratva series since the first book in the series and I love Nicole Cypher's writing. I look forward to more books by her in the future.

The story was well written and the characters were truly captivating. Margot first meets Arseni when she is trying to get involved with helping foster kids. He was seventeen at the time and already trying to get a rise out of her.

Now, Margot has a stalker who is demanding money to keep quiet and claiming he can ruin her life. Arseni is supposed to cut ties with his best friend Luka and kill Margot on orders from his partner Nikita. Instead, he kidnaps her and plans to train her as a prostitute for his boss.

Meanwhile, the police are after Margot because someone else took the money and the stalker called it in. She is suddenly in serious trouble. Arseni cannot bring himself to kill her or let her go. He wants her badly and she wants him too. But with everything stacked against them, you are left wondering if a happy ending is even possible.

This was another fantastic book to read, the story was written well and the characters were sensational. She wanted to start helping foster children, that was the first time they met, he was seventeen and he was trying to get a reaction from her. Margot, has a stalker he has demanded payment to keep his silence because he can destroy her. Arseni, has to cut ties with his best friend Luka, and he is suppose to be killing Margot, by his partner Nikita. Arseni, ended up kidnapping her instead to teach her to be a prostitute for his boss. Now the police are after Margot, someone else took the money the stalker rang the police, hence now she could be in hot water, Arseni doesn't want to let her go or kill her he wants her bad, and she wants him, but could they have a happy ending.

So I was skeptical in picking up this book for a few reasons. The first one is that I started reading this series by reading the book before this one Luka. And when I read that book I hated Arseni I really really did. Secondly even though I love dark I don't normally like age gap where the woman is older. However I was blown away. This book is dark make no mistake but Arseni managed to turn me around. I found myself understanding him crying for him. I mean I read this book in one sitting because it grabs you from the first page. I didn't start with the series but I have to say the only two last books(Luka & Arseni) I read are brilliant.

What a tangled web of messed up situations Arseni and Margot find themselves in. Their road to happily ever after is not for the tender hearted. Mind your triggers on this one.

I thoroughly enjoyed ‘Arseni’. I found it well written, never a dull moment, edge of your seat, kind of entertainment.

This is the fifth and final book of the Las Vegas Petrov Bratva series and I have to say that Nicole Cypher went out with a bang that's for sure. It's amazingly intense, dark and twisted from the start and I couldn't put it down no matter how hard I tried. Stopping to eat, sleep or go to the bathroom didn't seem all that important at the time, just saying. Arseni and Margot did not have a great start to life and the things they endured made me cringe a little. This is definitely not for the faint of heart so be cautious. All in all it's an awesome way to end the series. I wouldn't be mad for Nikita to get his story written though, I'd totally be here for it. Anyway, this book is definitely worth every star and recommendation it gets.

The foster system really failed Arseni, and Margot was never prepared for what taking him in would mean. Years later, when their paths cross again, the darkness between them is overwhelming. Arseni is cruel and broken, while Margot’s resilience makes her story raw and heartbreaking to read.

This book is the darkest in the series yet—full of trauma, obsession, and moral grey areas. The twisted connection between Margot and Arseni is both disturbing and strangely beautiful, a slow burn built on pain, chemistry, and survival. Add in a second stalker, and the tension never lets up.

It’s brutal, emotional, and unforgettable. Definitely not for the faint of heart, but the payoff is worth every page

Book 5 in the Las Vegas Petrov Bratva is Arseni. I was a little unsure of this one initially. Although I absolutely LOVE an age gap story, I'm not much in to the older woman/younger man aspect BUT, I do love this author and I knew if it was a story that could be done well, then she would do it. This one dealt with some tough, maybe even taboo topics and it's not a story that's easy to read. Both Margot and Arseni are broken souls who I think, find a kinship with each other that develops in a way for both of them to heal and grow. It's a second chance story that's definitely not for the faint of heart. At any rate I'm glad that I didn't pass Arseni over. It's a great read!

This was the last in the Petrov series. It was about Arseni. He was in foster care and he was placed with Margot. He was 17 at the time. He lived with her for a few months when she couldn’t take it anymore and she had to call the social worker and he was placed somewhere else for the few months until he was 18. He ended up living on the streets and you found out at the end of the book everything he did to survive. One night when he was at his lowest he jumped in the water and this is where he met Luka who saved him. Arseni never stopped thinking about Margot and he saw her one day and he took her to live with him. You need to read how and why this all happened. So good.

I’m just going to say this. Kill Nikita! Unalive him in a book please. I loathe him and for a moment I hated Arseni too. I still don’t like Arseni but I think I can tolerate him. This book was hard to read. Listen, I know I enjoy Nicole’s writing style. That’s not why I had a hard time reading it. I’m just not into the darkness of a Nikita twin. I do like the ending. I read it twice. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Funny part of the story, that moment you know who the real threat is! I was yelling, inwardly, to Arseni. Hey man it’s the dude! My favorite part is the epilogue. Only because I finally found something to hate Arseni less.

This is book 5 in Cypher's Las Vegas Petrov Bratva series. A great addition to this series that can be read as a standalone. This is a captivatingly dark mafia romance read. Arseni is unapologetic in his manipulation and depravity and the road he and Margot find themselves traveling to their HEA is not for the faint of heart. Well written, dark and twisted. Definitely mind your triggers. This book will have you on the edge from start to finish.

I have loved all the books in the Las Vegas Petrov Bratva and I eagerly awaited Arseni's book. I think his sour cruel demeanor of Arseni seems like a protection mechanism because of what he has been through in his life and I actually find him quite fascinating. Margot adds a whole different dynamic than I expected. This book had me in quite a tizzy. Absolutely wonderful book, albeit a little dark, but I liked that quite a bit.

This is book five and final book of the Las Vegas Petrov Bratva. Please consider the trigger warnings with care. This is Arseni's story and what a story it is. This story takes a darker path, then a darker one as the story unfolds. We learn so much about Arseni and the various roles that Margot played in his life. Lies and deception are constant points in this story but as truths are revealed, the darkness begins to lift. It took time and few twists but family wins in the end. Enjoy!.

Arseni ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Nicole Cypher
Arseni and Margot
Margot thought she was going to be a great foster mom, when the 17 year old no one wanted Arseni walked in things changed. She was attracted but wasn’t going to act on it. He was gone a month later. Years later they meet up again when he kidnapped her for not doing what she was supposed to. Now that they are older will things change and allow their attraction to build or will that fire be extinguished? The author put out quite the story with some twists and turns that make for a great who did it and why!

Wow! I wasn’t entirely sure how I was going to feel about this one, but I couldn’t pass up a Nicole Cypher book. Arseni and his initial treatment of Margot when he sees her again, really made me nervous for this one. Once again, Nicole knew just how to write their story to win me over and make me fall in love with them.

The epilogue was so wonderful; I loved the way it brought everything full circle. I wish Nikita would have gotten some punishment for his big betrayal though.

ARC review. I have to say this book was written well but it is really dark. I saw some other reviews that said it was rushed in the end. I one hundred percent agree. I also feel like there were some scenes that I felt were too long and some that needed more detail.

**note** I do want to say that I spent years working in the field of foster care and adoption so my view may be tainted as I witnessed a lot from those years. Someone who hadn’t been in that world may not feel the same about the book as I did.
