Cellmate Secrets: Love Beyond Redemption: A Sapphic Prison Romance - Two mothers deal with the death of their son in different ways

If you’re looking for a quick but intense read, this is one for you.
The POV switches between Asha, Jax, and Sapphire, three women bound together by a crime Asha committed. Jax, the ex-wife is full of anger and swears revenge, Asha is consumed by guilt, Sapphire is caught in the middle as Asha’s new lover. The story whips right along with lots of action balanced with introspection.
The story deals with some tough issues, like abuse, addiction, and incarceration in a no-nonsense and unromanticized way.
There are a number of surprisingly spicy sex scenes. It’s prison, so WLW don’t have access to the, ahem, resources available outside so there is some DIY involved. Also, don’t expect lush, dawn-out love scenes either. The pace reflects the urgency necessary for sex in their situation.
Other than some head-hopping the narrative is technically strong. We get a lot of scenes that describe conversations instead of having them written out. A lot of these deal with similar topics, so I didn’t feel like I was missing out on a lot. I would have liked to know more about Sapphire and her life.
Overall, a fast-paced read that deals with a lot and still convinces me of the love/redemption arc.

Asha, Sapphire, Jax, and Terrell chasing monkeys…
Tragic loss is very difficult to deal with. One of the things that can make it somewhat easier to cope with is managing to find a scapegoat for all the bad things happening. By focusing all your attention, anger and frustration on another, it helps absolve you of responsibility for your own problems and grief. Doesn’t help that other person much.
