Ferris was just sixteen. He should have been in school and playing video games or sports. Caydi was also sixteen. She should have been hanging out with her friends at school, playing field hockey, and preparing for early entry into college. Neither had counted on an EMP. Instead, both were fighting for their lives.
It had been a week since they buried Gramps and fled the city for somewhere safer. Now it was time to return, so Ferris could visit Laurent and Caydi could check to see if her parents were home yet—but so far nothing had been easy during this apocalypse!
I found the first book a bit better as this was overwhelmed with teenage/YA angst, mostly due to the fact that the main characters are all teenagers or young adults. Ferris and Caydi, and later Tayra, are all lucky rather than smart. I lost count as to how many times the women were captured. I was exasperated with Tayra who is so very anti-gun that she won't really use one to defend herself or her group. The saving grace is that Ferris is a decent guy who is trying to help people with practical solutions and is the main reason I might continue the series.
Toledo Fall 2 is just as good as the first one and the first one was excellent. The characters make Toledo stand out from the others and are well done and much different then others in the October Fall world. I will be looking out for TF3
Well written and well detailed with local knowledge. This local flavor adds dimension to the story and anyone who lives in this area should be interested in a “home grown “ story.
Like the first one, the story while fictional is completely unbelievable. Ferris is a teenager acting like Rambo with an unbelievable number of enemies killed. He’s a kid and the author tries to make us believe that he is Superman. The plot and story are very good and the characters are genuine. All the woman and just one guy?
Loved this book. A younger version of the Fall world. Good story. I can not believe the twists and turns the plot takes. It is like an Indiana Jones movie.
