Avery Sinclair is good at her job as the social media manager for the Baltimore Thunderhawks. She’s one of the best in the NFL, in fact. The only thing stopping her from being the account of the year? The DC Titans, run by the mystery man she’s been feuding with for years.

Reid Duncan isn’t the world’s biggest sports fan, but he loves his job. Working for the DC Titans means working on the same team as his best friend… and being constantly annoyed by the woman who works for the rival team up the road.

But when a night with a woman he can’t get out of his head turns out to be the woman who won’t leave him alone on social media, Reid isn’t sure what to do. The only solution? A casual arrangement that goes perfectly with the bet they’ve enacted for the football season.

Online, they exchange sarcasm and snark like it’s their job. In the bedroom, though, it’s a different story. What’s supposed to be one time turns into something more.

Avery and Reid know they aren’t supposed to fall for each other. Feelings aren’t part of their agreement, but neither one of them can stay away.

Can what happens off camera and away from their phones really work in real life? Or are they destined to never get along?

Off Camera is a spicy rivals to lovers sports romance with a guaranteed happily ever after.

3.5 ⭐ (rounding up cuz there's no 3rd act breakup)

This was honestly sweet and adorable. I love their relationship, love, respect, and thoughtfulness.

Reid (34) and Avery (31) met at a bar when she stayed after her jerk date left and sat beside Reid (unknowingly). And before they knew it, they were having a conversation that they were both enjoying way too much. It would've led to something more, but both of them got called for their jobs. So they parted ways and forgot to exchange numbers.

But they met again at a wedding (Book 3 MCs). They didn't know they had mutual friends, and this led to ONS. They agreed to have a FWB setup, but then they found out at a conference that they're rival social media managers. In fact, they've been getting under one's skin for the last three years, and they had no clue at all. This is where the hidden identities came into the picture. 🫣

This revelation puts a stop to everything that's brewing between them. But of course, it didn't last long, and they eventually proceeded to their agreed upon situationship. 😉

The story was honestly good. I love the maturity of the characters and how they communicate and never hide things from each other. I also like the fact that the push and pull didn't last longer than they needed to. But among these things, I looove it the most that they're each other's number one supporters, despite their rivalry. 🥹

It was admirable to see them cheer for their supposed rival but still be able to succeed in their own endeavors. All throughout the story, they never let their competition get in between them. It's quite impressive, honestly, how they're able to separate their jobs from what's going on with them.

As for the FWB setup, it lasted up until the 91% mark. Sure, they had their first date at the 89% mark, but even at that point, they still weren't an official couple. They just admitted they like each other more than just being friends, but the actual dropping of the love bomb and having an official label happened at the 92% mark. And, idk, I wish they got together a lot sooner than that. For the most part, they can't go all the way or be honest with their feelings because of their arrangement. They were sweet with each other, and it shows in their actions, but them being in denial of how they actually feel took away some of the enjoyment I was having with the story. 🫣 Actions aren't enough, I also need the words to back it up, sorry. 😅

Like I said, it was good, but I have to say that this could've been a few pages shorter. Some scenes were dragged out, and I got bored with the things happening between the 70%–85% mark. Idk, I love the domesticity and their jobs, but some of them felt so repetitive, and I found myself skimming some of those scenes. 🫣

Also, I wish there'd been some conclusion with Reid's father and a change in their relationship. Idk why it was even mentioned in the story if he and his dad were not going to at least fix what's wrong with their interactions. Probably not really fully fixed, but a decent beginning nonetheless. 🤷‍♀️

Moving past my issues 😂 it's refreshing to see a FMC that isn't inexperienced at all. Avery was described as someone who had explored her sexuality in the past, had relationships, and had casual interactions (but I still think it's only a handful). As for Reid, he's the long term and relationship type of guy. He had only been with two women and even got engaged to one, but the ex ended it because Reid's job became his priority. Yet, even if that's the case, he's still well versed when it comes to female pleasure. 🤭 And maaan, the mouth of this guy. 🥵 Idk how he managed to be awkward and hot at the same time. 🤭

And what I think I enjoyed about their sex lives is that it showed that a person didn't have to have a lot of sexual partners to be good at it. Reid was good (amazing, Avery's word), and she was too. They were good together, compatible, hot, and explosive, and yet they were still learning, as the story goes. They did trial and error and had some awkward moments, but in the end, they had fun and learned more about each other. This is very steaaaamy! So readers can expect a lot of *ehem*. 😂🥵

Anyway, all I just want to say is that it was good, although I still think this could've been a few pages shorter. 😅 It had me swooning in a lot of moments. I loved the MCs; they were both likeable (for me). I love their honesty, openness, trust, respect, support, and dedication to their jobs. It was an enjoyable read, mostly smooth sailing with a few bumps on the road, but still a worthwhile story nonetheless. 💖

Book info:
- Insta-lust
- Dislike to love
- Hidden Identities

- FWB 🤭
- Fast burn (at 12%) 🥵🤭
- Steaaaaamy! 🥵🌶️
- Double praise and degradation 🫣

- Women in sports
- No cheating, OWD, separation
- OMD (see notes)
- No V (h - 1 yr, H - 3 yrs)

Notes:
- OMD. Not really, h's ex attended the conference where she's the key note speaker, and approached her. Reid saw the interaction and saved her from him because the ex was being a bit handsy.
- Some women did flirt with Reid, but he didn't give them time.
- Both celibate after their ONS. Months passed before they agreed to the FWB setup. They tried to stick with their rivalry, but their attraction and hormones won. 🤭 Also, this arrangement lasted for six months (I think???). 🫠🙃

This is by far my favourite pick in this series.
I absolutely adore the chemistry between Reid and Avery.

both handles social media accounts, both hate eachother online but offline love spending time with eachother.

from enemies to frenemies with benefits, to finally turning into lovers.

the plotting was totally new to me, the banter was great, everything was good.

yet I would say I would've given it 4stars, if the story focused more on Main characters, because of too much conversation involved with side characters made me reading this a bit boring. otherwise I've no complaints regarding the MC relationship and other things, it was worth reading it.

Chelsea Curto can do no wrong. And i stand on that. I really loved the banter between fmc and mmc, and at first i was like wait… they already have a really good connection and such good chemistry rn so whats gonna happen?

But it was perfect, the tropes, the comedy, the romantic connection. I ate it up, and to think that i thought Reid was gonna be my least fav chelsea man, he proved me so wrong. Avery and Reid are so perfect🤗🎀

💭 overall thoughts:
I was fortunate to beta read this baby for Chelsea, and I’m so in love with this world she’s created.

I re-read the published version to write my review (and cause I love them so much 🥰).

Obsessed is an understatement, I love everything about this book.

Nerdy boy Reid & his love for LEGO, spreadsheets, comic books, his plants, and his found family - oh and his filthy mouth 😏

Popular girl Avery with her heart of gold, passion & drive to be a successful woman in the sports world, who also has a bit of a secret nerdy side 😉

THEIR BANTER! Their TENSION! UGH. So good.

All Maverick’s lines had me in stitches 😂 that boy. I loved seeing more of him & Emmy, Dallas & Maven & June bug 🥰

While this can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend the entire series. At the very least to start with Behind the Camera & get the stories of the side characters we see the most.

I’ve said this before, but this time I’m serious serious… THIS IS CHELSEA’S BEST BOOK YET!!!!

From the moment I started the first sentence I just KNEW I was going to love this. Only Chelsea can get me to fall for the nerdy red head with glasses and a mouth dirtier than any of the other men she’s written. Reid and Avery have the best chemistry from page one until the very end of the epilogue. They tease each other and are patient with each other and they just make sense.

Will never be over this one and can’t wait for the world to meet these two soft and strong characters!

I don't know what it was, but as soon as Reid and Avery started hooking up and revealed their social media alter egos to each other, my interest nose dived. I just didn't care anymore and started skimming chapters so I knew I had to call it. Yes they have some flirty, fun banter in the beginning, but it wasn't enough to carry the story.

I'm totally in love with these two!!!

Plant Daddy, I knew you were going to be my favorite guy!

A nerdy man with glasses who knows what he's doing. 🔥🔥🔥

Avery is the kind of FMC I adore. She's determined, isn't afraid to say what she wants, and is a total girl boss.

These two together are amazing. The banter between them is *chef's kiss*. Their text messages had me laughing from start to finish. I also love how they just feel so comfortable with each other, talking about their problems.

It was great to see the other characters I love again.

I read this book all in one go and highly recommend it!.

CHELSEA FUCKING CURTO.

I have no words for this book but I will find some in my jumbled mess of a brain. Every single book I read by Chelsea, I tell myself “there’s no way she can top this one” and then SHE DOES. How? I have no idea but Jesus Christ.

Reid is literally my dream man and I didn’t even realize that until I read this book. A ginger nerd who has a dirty ass mouth and would feed me regularly? SIGN ME THE FUCK UP.

His relationships with Dallas and Mav were so great to see more of and his love for Maven as an extension of their little family only made my heart hurt in the best way. It made me so happy to see Avery come in and also become a part of that family with Emmy and all of them loving each other.

Avery is such a strong woman and as someone whose dream job is literally what she does in this book, it only made me love her that much more. I love that even though she hates the way people look at her for being a woman reporting on sports, that she still stands her ground and doesn’t let it get her down.

The progression of their relationship and the moment they found out each other’s identities had me DYING. The tension, the banter, the HEAT. OH MY GOD. You can tell from my highlights and my notes that I was SWEATING with this one.

Good god, Chels. How the fuck can it get any better than this one? Truly. Don’t tell Shawn, but Reid might be my favorite. 🙈 The LEGOS?! THE BOOK!? Goodbye, I’m deceased.

I need the next book like I need air, but I will HAPPILY reread every single one of your books while I wait for it 😍

I swear I say this after I read any Chelsea curto book but seriously this is her best book yet! I knew I was going to like this book but I didn’t know how much I was going to love it! Reid and Avery have the best chemistry together and the banter was just amazing!

Reid is such a perfect selfless quiet comic book loving guy who deserves everything and more! He was obsessed with Avery and making sure she was taken care of and happy…. I can’t think of a more kind and loving guy that is perfect for Avery.

Avery is so lovely and I would love a friend like her. She is incredibly hard working and deserving of the recognition she gets in the career she is in which was very male dominated. I loved how this book shows the misogyny that happens in some career fields and how Reid really stood up for her. She is so confident and when she bought the Lego kit for Reid…. Let’s just say my eyes were leaking… and when she read his favorite book as a surprise to him so she could talk to him about it…. Ugh my heart.

The chemistry between the two of them was burning until the very last page of this book and the growth between them was so well paced and perfectly captured. I. Any say enough good things about this book but I will be recommending it to everyone that listens.

Reid and Avery were perfect, from the banter (from everyone, especially from Maverick 😂), to the spice (which was 😮‍💨👌🏻), to the caretaking 🥹 this book was perfect. I love evertything about it, even their silly feud. The support and the love they had for each other throughout the book was 💋👌🏻.

I actually don't think Chelsea can write a bad book? I loved this latest edition to the Love through a Lens series (plus getting to see some of the DC Stars crew too). I have a deep obsession with the MMCs she writes - and I think it would be impossible to choose between Shawn, Dallas, Maverick or Reid. The FMCs are all such baddass independent women also - I would love to be part of their girl gang.

OK, let's talk about Reid, it's always the quiet ones who have the filthiest mouths 🥵 I love how obsessed he was with his feud with Avery, and didn't realise how he was slowly falling in love with her over their interactions. He's the absolute cutest - the way he takes care of her: bringing her lunch, bringing her a heating pad and candy when she was cramping, the special edition of her favourite romance book and his speech in defence of her saying how incredible she is at her job and how much he admires her.

Avery is such an incredible FMC, she's so good at her job - even though she has to deal with so much bullshit being a women working in sport. I love her friendship with Maven and her budding friendship with Emmy.

Some of my fave parts:
✨ Seeing Maven and Dallas' wedding
✨ The prank war between Reid and Avery - especially the ducks
✨ SO MANY moments with Reid's mouth 🥵
✨ The Christmas present exchange 🥹
✨ Reid's defence of Avery
✨ The boys bookclub!!
✨ Emmy explaining her 'Mine' tattoo 😏
✨ June Bug braiding Reid's hair
✨ NO THIRD ACT BREAKUP!!!

Seriously, don't sleep on this series (or the DC Stars), Chelsea is such an underrated romance writer - I get so excited when she announces a new book, and immediately put them on my TBR.

there’s something so special about the stories and characters that chelsea writes that makes me get so invested in them from start to finish.

following each book with a different couple but still having their moments intertwined in each others books is one of my favorite aspects of this series and i will be so deeply sad when it ends

avery and reid definitely were favorites of mine and i am so glad i loved every second of their journey together 🥹🥹

we love a blushing MMC!

Chelsea is one of those authors that always brings heart and heat with every book!

This is the fourth book in the Love Through a Lens Series, and this is one we have been waiting I feel like she has been setting this book up so well within her last few books.

A soft nerd boy plant daddy. A feisty ex pageant queen. Two social media managers for rival football teams that have been aggravating each other over DMs for years. A one night stand with hidden identities. Found family that makes you feel so loved.

I was obsessed with every aspect of this book. I loved the touch of football romance throughout, without it being a football romance. I loved the fine line between love and hate, and both Avery and Reid had been walking that line for years.

Things I loved with 0 context:
- Rubber Duckies
- the Hotel Hallway
- You Came? You Called.
- the Mav, Dallas, and Reid Friendship
- the Boys Bookclub
- Men Who Wear Glasses
- Texts and DMs On Page

It’s always the quiet ones.

These 2 had so much chemistry, especially when they realized their hidden identities. So many moments that made me blush & giggle! Chelsea Curto knows how to do a great romance!

They have an anonymous online fued as social media coordinators for opposing teams. Then they unknowingly meet at a bar and have a connection. After a few dates, they decide to keep it casual bc they both have work obligations coming up. Little do they expect to see the other and learn their true identify as their arch nemesis. The texting and banter is hilarious, but it gets even better when they learn that they hate each other.

Dallas, maverick & Reid had me cackling more times than I could count.

Favorite parts:
•the hallway 🥵
•when June talks about her fun times with Reid
•every scene with the 3 guys
•their phone call when she’s running
•when he has her back at the game

Once again, Chelsea has written the best MCs. It’s getting kind of ridiculous trying to choose a favorite character when they are all five stars! Though Reid maybe, just maybe, has edged them all out for the top spot.

It’s the quiet guys with filthy mouths that do it for me apparently. The feud he had going with Avery was hilarious and I loved how it continued to push them professionally. But the whole time they were just falling for each other.

I loved the two of them together. From the way they met, to Reid becoming more confident and how he took care of/spoiled/supported Avery, to Avery just being a powerhouse in her profession even with all the misogyny that she had to deal with being a woman working in sports. Plus add in all their friends and I was just obsessed.

I’ve probably said it in every review of Chelsea’s books, but I don’t think she can do anything wrong. Her writing just speaks to me and I find myself wanting to immerse myself in this interconnected world she has created. It’s a magical place.

Well Chelsea really amped up the spice on this one, wowza we just jumped right into it.

I absolutely adore this world, and we really start to see characters from her DC Stars, as Reid's best friends are Mav & Dallas.

Avery & Reid are quite literal opposites attract. Avery is the popular girl, born and raised doing things such as pageants. Reid is the nerdy computer guy who loves video games & comics. The one thing they have in common is their jobs as rival social media managers. They have a history but when they first meet they don't know.

This book contains so much banter, prank wars, and bets between these two career driven individuals. The spice gets hot and heavy really quick and while Reid is the quiet, reserved guy he really does bloom into a dirty talker with Avery.

I can't wait for the next one in this series.

3.75⭐️! This was my second Chelsea Curto book (the first being Face Off) and it was the perfect book to pick up as you get glimpses of some of the same lovable characters like Maverick, Emmy, and their whole core group! I honestly even enjoyed this book more. The chemistry and banter felt more realistic, and I loved how both Reid and Avery were mature enough to respect each other despite being rivals in their work field. Their relationship and communication was a breath of fresh air, and I love how they both didn’t hold back on how they felt with each other. And Reid?! There aren’t enough green flags on earth to describe him. I love a man who supports women in male dominated fields!
