Some vampires are totally soul sucking…unless this smart-talking slayer does something about it. Don’t miss this full-throttle sequel to the Sign of the Slayer!

Soul of the stone was such fun. I loved the sassy writing style from the first page.
This is the sequel to Sign of the slayer which I haven’t read but it does give you some details to catch you up. It’s probably best to read these in order as it’s a continuous storyline.
Our main characters is a vampire slayer, Raven/ Texas. She’s on a mission to find the Emerald Tablet. She has to work through the betrayal that happened in book one and ‘trust’ the support of the vampire prince. What could go wrong?
The Soul of the Slayer series will have another book continuing the story. There is only a couple of months between the last two releases so fingers crossed this one won’t be long.
If you’re looking for a vampire slayer fix, this is the book for you. It’s sassy, enemies to lovers romance and has kick ass action.
So, this takes a sharp dive into Egyptology in a way that was overpowering compared to book one. The vampire business is still there but much more in the background.
Raven is still adjusting to her new powers and the voices (souls) in her head. But her smart mouth hasn’t changed. I still love her narrative voice SO much. She’s hilarious.
I felt like the trials took up the brunt of the story, so it felt as if the characters were only ever in two locations. After a while, all the snakes and hellish creatures got repetitive. I don’t know if I’d have enjoyed this more if I had been more familiar with the Egyptian gods.
Raven’s slaying game just leveled up in Soul of the Stone!
She’s kicking butt, wielding her new powers like a pro, but the emotional baggage? Yikes.
Between black-out rage, voices from a creepy stone, and some serious vampire drama, our girl’s got a lot on her plate. 🍽️
And, of course, there's Khamari—the vampire prince who’s way too hot for her peace of mind.🔥
Their enemies-to-lovers vibe? Chef's kiss. But trust is in short supply, and saving the world together? Uh, yeah, that complicates things.
This sequel takes a deep dive into some epic vampire lore, with vibes straight out of African and Egyptian mythology. Raven’s not just fighting vampires—she’s battling inner demons, family betrayals, and the literal fate of humanity. No pressure, right? 💀
With sassy banter, heart-pounding action, and a love story that'll leave you screaming for more, Soul of the Stone is a wild ride from start to finish. If you thought Sign of the Slayer was intense, hold on tight. This one will sink its teeth into you and won’t let go! 🖤💥
This is the sequel to Sign of the Slayer and continues right where it left off. Raven/ Texas is on a mission for the Emerald Tablet. She must learn to work past her trauma, embrace her slayer role and new powers, while still working with Prince Khamari, the vampire, and his betrayal. The character development is full force, and the enemy to the lovers vibe is prominent throughout.
There is plenty of world building, nonstop action, and romance to keep you entertained. The African and Egyptian history, vampire/ slayer lore, description of the underworld, and world building help the reader delve deeper into this world.
The ending was left on another cliffhanger, and I can't wait to see where this story leads next!
This was a good follow-up to the first book and picks up where the last one ended. I know YA vampire books especially with Black vampires/vampire slayers are popular at the moment so if you like that you should read this/start this series. This second book continues with more lore and worldbuilding, especially with the history of the vampires and the slayers. We find out more about the voices of the fmc here and how they relate to the world and vampires. I enjoyed the lore in this and how it seem to draw from diverse African/black American cultures and history.
Like I said in the first book I liked the diversity in characters and seeing black romance in books. It's still sort of a forbidden romance between enemies and lovers. I feel like this one also ended on a high note so I hope there will be another one. Thank you entangled teen for this arc.
Tropes/themes: - Black romance - Diverse characters and world - Vampire/Vampire slayer - Forbidden romance - Upper YA - Chosen one - Action and intrigue - Dark academia vibes
Soul of Stone is a great sequel! You definitely get a lot more world building and history in this book. You get to understand how somethings were made and how it created the issues they are trying to overcome in this book. I like how we got more to learn more about Raven and her powers. She is so sassy and is such a strong woman. Raven and Khamari go through so much in this book but I could not get enough of it. The ending has me so mad!! If you liked the first book I highly recommend you read this one!! Can't wait to read the next one!! Thank you to Sharina Harris, Entangled Publishing, LLC and Netgalley for the digital copy!!
This one was a lot more interesting for me! I really liked the threads of Egyptian mythology that took over the storyline here, and it felt like we got to see a lot of growth for Texas, too. Khamari gree some too but it sort of felt like he was being stubborn the whole time.
Facing new dangers and powers , Texas and her team of Slayers and vampires work against Alexander. But as they hone their powers, he reveals more of his. This was an action packed and emotional ride.
Rating: 4.5/5 I received the eARC for my honest opinion.
If you love a good fantasy with vampires and slayers you need to pick up this book, oh did I forget to mention that you will find a great squeal that has action, drama, romance (enemies to lovers), you will find lore from the Egyptians that will have just devouring this book. This book picks up from book 1 left off and you will see that Raven aka Texas has been up to since she has been betrayed by Khamari. She keeps pushing back her feelings and trying to find a way that she can kill Alexander and save the world.
You will go on adventure with Raven as she is trying to find a tablet that will allow her to get closer to ending Alexander, she is trying to understand all the powers that she now has sense she is the Maximus (protector of the world) She didn’t know that when she would accept this role that she would have to deal with so much on her plate. She feels betrayed by the people she loves/feels like she really never was told who to trust and who not, she has so many souls that talk to her and try to give her help, trying to understand all the powers that she has and the most important one… her feelings towards a very handsome Vampire Prince Khamari. I liked that we got to see a different side to Texas/Raven in this book; but you will still be able to see her old self come through. I loved getting to see her character develop throughout the first book and in this book, you will see that in this book as well. I loved that we got to watch her really travel through self-discovery and understanding that forgiveness is a big step of that. I enjoyed the action, the drama, and the romance throughout this book as well. I liked that it was also told in dual POV’s so you can really get to understand what the characters were thinking or not thinking lol. Okay let’s talk about Khamari… yes, he did her dirty by trying to protect her and by doing so her erased her memory, but it was out of love/waiting to keep her safe and to protect his brother as well, but everything that he is doing now is to help her and save his brother with no care for the cost. I loved getting to see him understand what he did wrong and that he was trying to do better but of course something always has to go wrong for it to go right. Let’s just hope for book 3, we will see them working together again and allowing old wounds to be healed.
I can’t believe that I have to wait for the next book to see what will happen next because this ending was just rude…. But beautifully done lol I have so many questions and I need to know what is going to happen next lol
I want to thank NetGalley and Entangled for the opportunity to review this book.
- Self Discovery - Supernatural Politics - Personal Loss - Devastating Power - Heroic Narrative - Vampires Vs. Slayers
Summary: Raven is a vampire slayer who is determined to adjust to her newfound power as the Maximus (the most powerful slayer in her community). While coming into her powers she struggles with loss, her role, and the impending doom of her people when Alexander the Great, the resurrected vampire king returns and is determined to recreate society in favor of vampires. Will Raven rise to the occasion and overpower this threat to humans and slayers?
My Opinion: I loved the mixture of real life history and fantasy at the start of this book! The snarky humor kept me giggling throughout the book while the chaos of this universe kept me turning pages as I went on and on in the story. Not only did I love how Raven was growing into her power and struggling with her own inner issues/feelings. The action and the intertwined navigation of personal relationships really kept me reading as it totally felt like I was rewatching Buffy The Vampire Slayer all over again. This was definitely what I felt was a coming of age story. If you love supernatural/paranormal reads this is definitely an interesting book to check out!
Thank you to the author, Sharina Harris, for bringing this story into the world for me to read and to the publisher, Entangled Publishing for helping her produce it! All opinions in this review are entirely my own and I was graciously given this ARC by the publisher via Netgalley.
“Soul of the Stone” is the highly anticipated sequel to Sign of the Slayer, picking up seamlessly from where the previous book left off. This installment takes a deeper dive into Raven, also known as Texas, and her team’s journey. As Raven grapples with her role as the Slayer, she must also confront the complexities of her new powers, past traumas, and lingering self-doubt. Her relationship with Khamari is particularly compelling—while their love runs deep, trust remains elusive. The tension between love and betrayal adds an emotional depth to the story, keeping readers engaged.
One of the strongest elements of Ms. Harris’s writing is her vivid depiction of the underworld, infused with Egyptian mythology and African American culture. These rich cultural layers enhance the world-building and give the story a unique flavor that stands out in the young adult genre.
The character dynamics are equally well-crafted, with banter that feels authentic to the characters’ age group, making this a relatable and entertaining read for young adults. The witty exchanges between the teens and their elders provide moments of levity amid the darker themes.
Overall, Ms. Harris has delivered a captivating sequel that not only lives up to the promise of the first book but also leaves readers eager for what comes next.
Thank you to Entangled Teen and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.
Ugh, how did I know that Sharina was gonna do us dirty like that at the end of this book?! And I'm so sad that we have to wait for the next one, but so excited for what's going to happen with Khamari and Texas.
Soooo, on to the book. This one continues from the first book left off. Texas, feeling betrayed by Khamari, tries to push herself into finding out how she can kill Alexander, and save humanity. I love that throughout the book, Texas always give everything her all, no matter what she's doing. I feel like she has so much power that she hasn't touched yet, but because it's dark in a way she's hesitant, though I think that may be a part of the key to defeating Alexander. And Khamari, while he makes decisions before thinking them through, I love that he's a solid MMC. From the beginning he's been in love with Raven/Texas, but to protect her, he erased her memory, but now he's trying to sacrifice more to help her cause and save his brother. I just wish that they would get on the same page, which I'm hoping will happen in the next story.
I guess, I'll be tapping my feet impatiently patiently waiting, lol
Once again, the magic system is a shining part of this story. The new additions we get through Ravens' promotion were interesting and added even more to her inner battle to keep control. I enjoyed the training montages we got with Anton.
I love rose, the way she's written means she bounces perfectly off our main character. Their back and forth gives moments of lightness in between the darker plot points. Khaven brings in a softer side for khamari and opens the door for the romance to slip back in. It definitely takes a back seat in this one, though.
I really liked the first 60% of the book. I was, unfortunately, a little lost when the gods entered the plot during a little trip. It took me out of the vampire/slayer dynamic i was loving, especially when it occurs in a moment where their plan has gone wrong.
I'm not sure how many books are planned for the series, definitely at least one more given the cliffhanger in this one. I'm hoping it will go back to the dynamic of book 1, I feel like there's a good opportunity for a big emotional impact in the next one, too.
I received an advance review copy of this book, and this review represents my honest opinion. Thank you to netgalley, the author, and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Vampire Diaries fans gather around. I’m here to tell you why you should want to grab this second book in this author’s American Slayer Society series ASAP.
Sharina Harris was a new-to-me author with the first book in this series. But as a #BuffyAndAngelForever OG fan and later a big Vampire Diaries fan, the blurb and the cover were a massive draw for me. And when I found that the heroine was a marching band geek (I was once one, then my oldest child made me a marching band mom), I couldn’t have been happier. Raven/Texas and Khamari brought definite Buffy/Angel and Elena/Stefan vibes as seemingly star-crossed lovers. However, I’m hoping for a much more satisfying ending for them, and here’s hoping Alexander ends up with the same fate as The Master. Since the book ends in a cliffhanger, these remain to be seen.
As far as how interesting the plot is, the book grabs you by the collar and yanks you in from the outset. It’s spooky and creepy in the best possible way. I enjoyed the author’s writing style and felt the story was well-written. With so many possibilities for how the next book might play out, I’m honestly excited about it. And I’ll be checking out Ms. Harris’ backlist in the meantime.
Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Soul of the Stone is the much-anticipated sequel to Sign of the Slayer, picking up smoothly where the first book left off. This instalment delves deeper into Raven (also known as Texas) and her team’s journey. As she wrestles with her role as the Slayer, she must also face new powers, old traumas, and persistent self-doubt. Her relationship with Khamari is a standout; while their love runs deep, trust remains fragile, adding emotional weight to the story.
One of Ms Harris’s greatest strengths lies in her vivid portrayal of the underworld, steeped in Egyptian mythology and African American culture. These rich influences give the world a distinct and memorable feel within the young adult genre.
The character dynamics are sharp and believable, with dialogue that rings true for the teen cast. Humorous exchanges between the younger and older characters bring lightness to balance the darker moments.
All in all, Ms Harris delivers a gripping follow-up that builds on the promise of book one and leaves readers eager for more.
Thank you @entangledteen for the e-ARC! The FMC, Texas, is so snarky and bad ass! I would call her sassy, but I learned she does not appreciate that. Throughout the books we see Texas try to overcome her past trauma and heartbreaks and prevent those from affecting her present day choices and feelings. Soul of the Stone picks up where Sign of the Slayer left off. The slayers are regrouping in preparation for another battle with Vampire Daddy Alexander. Texas is trying to understand all of her new powers and grapple with the fact that her ex- boyfriend and vampire betrayed the world. We learn even more about the world and the lore surrounding both vampires and slayers. The Egyptian history aspect was super interesting to me. Texas must overcome her past, stop fighting the darkness inside of her, and learn to trust again in order to help save the world against Alexander. Texas and Khamari’s story arc was truly chefs kiss and also incredibly heartbreaking! The authors humor shines through with the funny chapter titles, witty banter, and hilarious pop culture references.
Soul of the Stone is the propulsive next novel in Sharina Harris’s The American Slayer Society series. It picks up where Sign of the Slayer left off, with protagonists Texas and Khamari grappling with the fallout of their actions.
Typically when I read a series with an overarching plotline, the sequel can feel like filler. I’m happy to report that Soul of the Stone does not suffer from this narrative pitfall. Harris once again brings her signature wit and humor, clever chapter headings, and understanding of the paranormal works that came before to craft a continuation of an enthralling story.
I’m a little mad about the cliffhanger of an ending, but that’s only because I would stake a whole army of evil vampires for the next book. If you’re looking for something that is the perfect blend of PNR and fantasy, with a strong female protagonist who understands the assignment, this is the book for you.
I’m waiting with bated breath for book three.
Thank you to Entangled Teen and NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

Review:
This book was insane! So damn intense and that ending! I loved the POVs switching between Raven/Texas and Khamari. It was nice to see their relationship grow and change. I really enjoyed that this went more in-depth into the Egyptian mythology than the first one did. The banter in this was so good, and I laughed so much while reading this. A few characters annoyed me, but it was a minor issue. Raven was amazing in this, and I loved her determination despite the struggle she was going through with the voices and choices she was having to make. The last few chapters really had me on the edge of my seat, and like I said before, that ending! That was an insane cliffhanger. It stunned me that it ended that way, and I can’t wait for the next book to see what comes next for Raven, Khamari, and everyone else, especially with Alexander and the tablet. What a wild ride!

Raven, now known as Texas, is dealing with a powerful stone full of one hundred souls. These souls talk to Texas and drive her slightly crazy. Her mission is to get the tablet which will help end the evil Alexander once and for all. The souls want to help her with her mission but she gets pulled into the Underworld and has to face Egyptian Gods who will weigh her heart. If she’s found worthy she may just survive.
Likes/dislikes: I like the fact that there’s much less swearing in this sequel so there’s more room for character development and world building. I enjoyed the main conflict with Egyptian mythology. I found the Underworld very interesting. Mature Content: PG-13 for sex. Violence: PG-13 for bloody stabbing. Language: R for 122 swears and 4 f-words. Ethnicity: Khamari is Jamaican. Predominantly Black.
I loved how this picked up pretty much picked up from where the first book ended. I really enjoyed seeing Raven “Texas” go after Alexander and to see her story continue with Khamari. The trials were a little ehhh for me, but it was a cool concept and was needed for the story. Overall, I enjoyed the first book a lot more but this was still a fun, easy and interesting read!! The concept of this story & the first book are super unique, I don’t think I’ve read another vampire story like this before, so that was really cool! If you vampires, powers, action and a bit of romance then this series is for you! I look forward to the next book in this series to see what happens next. Because that ending was….wow, not how I hoped it would end but still made a good ending and the perfect set up for book three.
“Soul of the Stone” serves as the sequel to “Sign of the Slayer,” picking up right from where the first book concluded. I completed both books in just two days! The storyline is captivating, and the witty banter adds to the enjoyment. The authors’ humor shines through, especially in the clever chapter titles. Book two is packed with events, showcasing beautiful emotional and spiritual growth. I found myself tearing up for Khamari and Texas and all they endure. I anticipated a heartbreaking conclusion, knowing it wouldn’t be straightforward—this journey has only just begun. I eagerly await the next installment in this series. If you’re in search of an engaging YA fantasy, this series is an excellent choice!
This book earns a 3.5 (which isn’t an option) because I think the first 2/3 is a 3 and the last 1/3 is at minimum a 4! This book brings SO many pop culture references, including world’s greatest Waffle House, making this a fun read with tons of wit, banter, and overall cleverness. There’s a lot of character dynamics shifting in this book, with lots of character growth. It’s book #2 in the series and pickups where book 1 left off. I wish I had more imagery in this book and truly just a little more overall, but the back half of the book delivered and made me excited for book 3!! So thankful to @entangledteen for giving me the opportunity to read this book and will be looking forward to book 3 🤩 If Romance, Vampires, Magic, and super fun pop culture references are your thing, be sure to pick up this book!
ARC Review of Soul of the Stone by Sharina Harris * * * * * A series that has me wanting to dive right into the beginning, and go back over all the drama and thrill. Thank you to Netgalley for providing a copy!
You got your spicy MCs packing that forbidden fun as vampire slayer is against vampire, and that's just the cake. We got the frosting and sprinkles of action, drama, trauma and betrayal from those around her. Hello Khamari, you've been a bad boy to our FMC. She's already got a lot on her plate! Dealing with new magical abilities on top of trust issues ain't fun! It's okay, we get a few steamy moments where that chemistry just pops up.
Definetely going to need to dive into the first book as I need to get more context. Especially from that cliffhanger!!!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you to NetGalley, Sharina Harris and Entangled Publishing for this ARC.
Soul of the Stone is book 2 in the American Slayer Society series.
Texas - Raven - is having difficulty embracing her new powers and she still hasn't forgiven King Khamari for his betrayal. But when they need to work together to bring the Emerald Tablet from Egypt, they finally realise exactly how she feels for him.
I enjoyed reading this book and getting to know more about the lore and also the Egyptian gods. I wanted more of Texas and Khamari but still what we had was amazing! The ending had my heart racing and not entirely what I was expecting.
Raven's character in "Soul of the Stone" is deeply complex, burdened by anger and resentment that threaten her well-being and relationships. Her internal struggle is sharply depicted as she battles the voices in her head and the darkness within. Watching Raven's anger poison her connections is both compelling and difficult.
The narrative follows Raven and Khamari on a perilous journey through the Underworld, where they face numerous trials that test their bond and fortify them for the battle against Alexander. This second installment challenges readers' beliefs and emotions, especially those who, like Raven, grapple with holding onto hate. It is a profound exploration of letting go to achieve personal growth and healing.

Soul of the Stone is a thrilling continuation of Raven’s journey, full of twists, betrayals, and emotional growth. Sharina Harris ups the stakes (and the secrets!) in this sequel, diving deeper into the supernatural world and Raven’s connection to the Slayer legacy.
I loved seeing Raven come into her own—torn between duty and desire, navigating complicated relationships, and embracing her power. The pacing was tighter than book one, and the plot kept me turning pages. The romance? Deliciously tense. The twists? Genuinely surprising.
Some side characters could’ve used a bit more development, but overall, this was a strong, satisfying sequel that leaves me excited for what’s next. A must-read for fans of urban fantasy with sharp edges and a lot of heart.
Sharina Harris’s Soul of the Stone is a fierce, fast paced, and unapologetically bold sequel that deepens the mythology of Soul of the Slayer while raising the emotional stakes. With razor sharp dialogue, cinematic action, and a heroine who battles both monsters and her own doubts, Harris crafts a world where power is earned, not given.
The novel’s strength lies in its rhythm the perfect interplay between snark and sincerity, blood and heart. Every page pulses with tension and energy, yet beneath the slayer’s bravado is a story about reclaiming identity, facing fear, and finding one’s purpose amid chaos.
Soul of the Stone doesn’t just slay it transforms, leaving readers breathless and inspired by the courage to fight for one’s soul in every sense of the word.
Thank you to entangledteen, to Britney to be able to be part of the tour and to get this arc. I got so lucky that I got the arc for the first one and the second one.
This book made me laugh a lot, the things they say oh my gosh. Love it. 🖖 It has a lot of “adult” theme, what I mean by that, a young teenage girl, who is feeling so beyond betrayed, that everyone around her keeps wanting to keep her safe, but letting her have a choice is hard. Texas is hard headed, but she wants to prove everyone that she doesn’t need to be rescued, but she can rescue everyone else. There’s a lot of quotes, that I love this book that I could so relate, especially what I’m going through right now. It’s very well written, I could not put down. It was so good. I cried at the end. So I’m not okay, and that cliffhanger! It’s so good, but I want more haha
Soul of the Stone picks up right where Sign of the Slayer left off as Texas (Raven) and her team continue on there high stakes journey to defeat Alexander. The book dives deeper into the lore of vampires and slayers, enriched by African and African American cultural influences. Action, banter, emotional growth, cliffhanger, this YA book has it all! It was a bit slow at some parts, and Texas and Khamari almost brought me to tears, but this is hands down one of my favorite reads of this year.
Thank you Entangledteen and Sharina Harris for an ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts and review.
This is the sequel to "Sign of the Slayer" and takes Raven (aka Texas) deeper into her role as a Slayer. She faces immense pressure, dealing with family betrayals, new powers tied to a mysterious stone, and her intense connection with Khamari, a vampire whose kiss could either ignite her soul or break her. The story blends Egyptian mythology and African American culture with classic vampire lore, creating a unique and engaging world. The action is relentless, and the enemies-to-lovers tension between Raven and Khamari adds emotional depth. With vivid world-building and well-developed characters, this book leaves you on a cliffhanger, and I am eager for the next installment.
Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled for giving me a copy of this book. This book picks straight up where we left Raven and Khamari, so I definitely recommend being able to power read through (but it does end on a cliff, so good news, we’re getting more, bad news – I don’t have it to read yet!) and I love the direction the story took in book two. We get way deeper into the African and Egyptian mythology, which I thought was really well done and showed more to our kick-ass and smart-mouthed Raven. Overall, I think Sharina Harris has delivered two excellent books, and I can’t wait to pick up number three…
