One drop of blood can banish or bind…

Reeling from the loss of his father, and devastated that Evelyn has slipped through his fingers once more, Kade is singular in his purpose: rescue his love, and bring her home. That means getting through the Void to Drystan, a land no werewolf or witch has ever ventured through — with their lives intact. But when a risky alliance offers Kade protection, it means making a bargain he’s reluctant to fulfill.

Within the walls of Drystan Castle, Evelyn is determined to unearth the secrets of the vampyrs once and for all, so she can return home with answers. But even with an unlikely ally by her side — albeit at a dangerous price — the weight of the truths they unravel worsens a betrayal Evelyn’s bruised heart can’t handle.

Meanwhile, on the journey to Drystan, Kade unlocks a tempestuous magic of his own — that he cannot yet control. And even as enemies appear at his elbow, it’s easier to focus on finding Evelyn than figuring out who to trust.

But can the bonds of duty withstand the darkness that threatens to devour all those in its path?

Let me spell this out clearly - You are NOT ready for book 2 🔥❤️‍🩹🧛👀🐺
If you loved Of Faith & Flame, In Darkness & Duty is about to take you on a whole new ride with more characters, more scenery, and more twists and turns around every corner. The new POVs had me in a chokehold from the start and I can confidently say I am now in love with two Drengr brothers.
CC Tyler took this book in a direction I wasn’t expecting, but I can’t thank her enough because, as always, her world-building and storytelling was more than I ever could’ve anticipated. I can’t believe I have to wait for book 3!! I’m on the edge of my seat and already trying to decipher who’s gonna show up and what new conflicts Kade, Ev, Tovi, and Eldrick will have to solve. Whose side are you on? Is there a traitor among us?? Only time will tell!
Don’t want to spoil anything, but there are a few other characters I’m already rooting for and NEED to learn more about in book 3 😭
Man oh man. CC, you’re a creative genius. PLEASE don’t make us wait long for book 3!

C.C. Tyler took off with the continuation of this series. I felt immediately drawn into the story from opening page one. Each scene was easily pictured and immersive, I really enjoyed her descriptive prose and how she set up each scene. I felt like the storyline flowed really well, no info dumping but we still got to expand the world SO much more which just added to the interest and investment into the characters.

There’s no shortness of action, so much MAGIC, “who touched you” vibes and a wickedly bad*ss FMC who I fell in love with even more since continuing the story. Also, I really appreciate the touch on female inequality and how this was discussed within the storyline.

The new POVs and relationships we get in this book quickly became my new obsession, and easily so, as C.C Tyler’s writing in this installment made it easy to truly feel the characters and invest in their stories. I can’t wait for more!

OMG. OMG I loved this story. OMG! I'm so glad I discovered this author and series this year - it's going to be one of my top reads for the year.

If you're looking for rich fantasy world building with werewolves and vampires and magic, if you want not just one - but TWO! complex and amazing couples that you will fall in love with, and if you want to just get lost in a great story - you need to get this series!

(And also get the first book and start there though, as this picks up right where Darkness ends!)

It's a bit hard to fully discuss this book without giving a ton of spoilers away, but this book takes us on the journey of Kade going after Evelyn, and we learn more about the history of the vampires and the world along the way. We are also introduced to Eldrick, Kade's brother who joins Kade, Tovi, and their friends on the journey.

Tovi. I adore her. I love her strength, her tenacity despite everything against her - how strong she is and must be, despite being treated pretty poorly by so many people in her life. I think yall will love her story as we get to learn more about her.

We have a bit of a slow burn here, and it was delicious. I love having two couples in this book. We have one established but still getting to learn about the other, and a new couple that has allllll the UST and tension. There is a bit of "one step forward, two steps back" push and pull that can sometimes be too much for me in a romance, but this felt so well done, no complaints here!

This book also reveals more about the prophecy and everyone's part in it. I cannot wait to see how everything will play out in the next book. This one had me gasping, unable to stop reading, and totally falling in love with Kade and Evelyn all over again - and loving Tovi and Eldrick.

I cannot recommend this highly enough, I just loved it.

I received an arc in exchange for an honest review. My thoughts are my own.

4.5⭐️ rounded to 5⭐️ on Goodreads and retail sites. In Darkness & Duty, published on September 24, 2024, is the second book in the Prophecy of Soren Trilogy by C. C. Tyler. Cover design is by @fantastical-ink and @alexandrabrlm_art created the character art. This 520 page book follows immediately in the wake of the cliffhanger from Of Faith & Flame. While that book was solely about Kade and Evelyn, this book introduces a second romance between Kade’s older brother and heir to the pack Alpha, Eldrick, and Evelyn’s best friend, Tovi, who had been keeping an enormous secret. Kade needed Tovi to help him rescue Evelyn from Tovi’s twin brother. Tovi wanted an alliance with the wolves. Read above for book blurb. Despite its’ length, this was an easy read which went quickly and was the perfect sequel. The author increased from two POVs to four, and each perspective helped to pull together the threads of this story. The enemies to lovers element added that extra spark to the story and made for snappy dialogue and even more delicious slow burn, than Book 1. There were a number of twists, turns, and surprises and I was hooked before I had even started. The chemistry between the two couples was palpable and the steam level moderate. I loved that the turns of the story erased long held prejudice and offered different interpretations to the prophecy. The novel ended with a teaser for the final book in the trilogy. I for one cannot wait for its’ release. I emphatically recommend this book for readers who enjoy romantasy novels with a quest, enemies to lovers, slow burn, fantasy mystery, prophecy, separated lovers, unleashed power, and found family. The series is similar to A Warrior's Fate by Melissa Kieran (werewolves, magic, adult fantasy romance), A River Enchanted by Rebecca Ross (Irish Folklore and atmospheric writing), and the Witch Collector series (witchy, deep world building, Gods, folklore, and found family/team tropes). It can be found in Kindle Unlimited.

I binged these two books in less than 48 hours. Yes, you are reading that correctly. Let me tell you she had me hooked with book one, but book 2 blew everything out of the water. The characters, the plot, the action and adventure.

Book 2 picks up right in the aftermath of book one, takes off like a shot, and has you going on a full speed ride as CC Tyler lets the true plot take center stage.

First off, I loved getting to return right into Kane and Evelyn's drama. These two cannot catch a break, but I loved every moment of it. We once again watch them struggle to get back to each other, but their separate journeys add further information to the overall plot in the all best ways. I loved watching their connection grow from afar.

But I have to say, the addition of two new POVs might have almost stolen the show on this one! A witch/werewolf, "will they get over themselves" plotline was absolute perfect. I want to shove these two into a locked drama and let them duke it out until they finallllyyyyyy admit their feelings. Because the tension is everything (and nope, I am not giving their names...go read the book!).

The plot line of book two demonstrates much larger powers at play and gets into the heart of the narrative that CC Tyler whispers and alludes to in book 1. Honestly, I was here for every twist and turn that their characters went through from emotional moment to physical battles. CC Tyler had me hook, line, and sinker with this book and I now have to live in the aftermath of no book 3 being available for me to binge yet.

Don't not sleep on this series! I mean it!

Thank you to CC Tyler for the chance to read this advanced copy.

The dedication in this book alone got me.

“For those still learning to forgive their past selves.”

Book 2 of the Prophecy of Sorin Trilogy, In Darkness & Duty ramped up the action AND the steam. We still have Vampyrs, Werewolves, Mages, and Witches, but it delves more into the prophecy from Of Faith & Flame. This book is very plot heavy and the world building continues from book 1, which I loved. The multiple POV and parallel storylines were amazing. Getting to experience different stages of two different romances as well? Perfection. Honestly it’s just so good!! It hit the ground running and just never stopped. Talk about action packed!

There are secrets, sooo many secrets, court politics, fated mates, one bed, enemies to lovers, and the tension between Tovi and Eldrick was *chef’s kiss*. Between their respective challenges and those of Kade and Evelyn as they explore the mate bond further…hold on to your hats folks. You’re in for a wild ride! I read this book in a day and absolutely loved it. I can’t wait for the final book in the trilogy but I’m also sad that it’s almost over. Awesome read, definitely recommend!

I was excited to read this book after how the first ended, and it did not disappoint.

Still following the story of Evelyn and Kade, in this book, we get multi pov to include other characters. I found myself a bit slower than usual getting through the first part of the book. There was a lot of character pov changing, but once I got into it, I couldn't put it down. The details in the writing are still enchanting, and we suddenly discover a lot of the world outside of Callum, where most of book 1 was set.
As other characters are met and more unexpected relationships are formed, secrets are revealed, and news of a traitor amongst the wolves is discovered.

Once again, another great book in this trilogy, and I can't wait for the final book to see how this story all comes together in the end.

Thanks to netgalley for the arc of this book for my honest review.

Wow! This is one intense enemies-to-lovers, adventure-packed romantic fantasy! I had no doubt this book would blow my mind. I absolutely loved the first book in the series, and this one is just as amazing! It gripped me like a vice, and I was completely immersed in the adventurous world of Sorin and Drystan. The concept of different worlds—vampires, werewolves, and witches—was incredible. The suspense, action, longing, and the introduction of a new couple absolutely captivated me!

What really stood out to me was the multiple viewpoints from four different characters. It gives you insights from every angle, which I absolutely loved. The story was filled with adventure, and the suspense kept me on edge the entire time. Eldrick and Tovi are the perfect example of opposites attracting, and I devoured their story like a hungry demon. The portrayal of trauma for each character was beautifully done.

There’s a bit of spice, but it’s more of an adventure-packed, action-driven story. And I was right about who The Lone Wolf was! But the story doesn’t end here—I’m literally screaming for the next book! I need to know what happens next. Trust me, you don’t want to miss out on this! I highly, highly recommend this book to all Romantasy lovers out there!

I am obsessed yet utterly angry that I have to wait for book three to come out! In Darkness & Duty is too good not to talk about. Compared to Of Faith & Flame, In Darkness & Duty brings expanded character point of views that really added depth and perspective to the story. I am a character girlie and there is nothing that sucks me in more than strong character development and individualization. I never doubted who was who because C.C. Tyler is just so dang talented in writing each character as their own.

In Darkness & Duty is jam packed with action, bada** FMC energy. magic, and all the romance. I can't wait to read book #3!

In Darkness and Duty picks up right where Of Faith & Flame left off. We are introduced to some new characters and additional points of view, including Tovi and Kade's brother Eldrick. I loved that there were additional relationships that were developed besides the two MCs.

Once again, we are taken through numerous twists and turns. It was a fun fusion of mystery and fantasy.

This book was a great continuation from the first book! I loved that it jumped right in where it left off. The pov changes a lot so for those who aren’t used to that as much, it may take a bit to get into the book. I am used to multi pov so it was really easy for me to get into the book. I really enjoyed the world building as it wasn’t confusing to understand. The characters are all amazing and I just can’t choose a favorite!

I cannot wait for the final book in this trilogy!

It amused me all these big bad warriors were afraid of Maxie. The book and pacing moved right along for me up until Evelyn and Kade's spicy reunion. Idk why it just didn't hit for me. Loved the tension with the other couple though. [names redacted for spoilers]. Ended on a bit of a cliffhanger so curious where it'll go!

“I’m quite familiar with flesh.” He snatched her waist, pulling her closer. “I enjoy how it shivers, the taste of it, the burn of it against my own.” He leaned into her ear, and Tovi thanked the Goddess he held her waist to keep her stable. “But I prefer to be alone with whoever’s flesh I touch, lost in the darkness and shadows of the night where no one might hear the sounds I’m able to elicit.”

This one was even better than the first, it really delivered some of what I'd wanted after finishing the first - particularly the world building and becoming a much more complex plot.

The action and stakes was elevated, pulling it more into the fantasy realm and less of a paranormal murder mystery like the first book.

As expected, Evelyn & Kade getting together was so gratifying, but we also got invested in many other side plots to keep it interesting.

So many amazing new characters, it had all the found family vibes I just eat right up, and I am heavily invested in Tovi and Eldrick!! Eeek, what a delicious addition. Do I like Eldrick more than Kade?!?
Pls see quote above for Exhibit A of my reasoning

The multi POV kept the plot pacing along really well and I liked that the villain/antagonists were multi dimensional, with character growth added in so you could understand they weren't just power hungry assholes, but had a fusion of different motives driving them - was very refreshing.

After not getting a neatly wrapped up happy ending as I expected from Of Faith And Flame, I was so excited that while In Darkness And Duty introduced us to a new couple, we also continue to experience Evelyn and Kade's POVs and of course learn more about the prophecy.
C.C. Tyler's world building is amazing, fully immersing the reader in her world of witches, werewolves and vampires, while still keeping you captivated by the characters her story-telling. I absolutely loved this book and can't wait for #3.

So GoodReads deleted my original review for some reason but this was an incredible sequel! It really increases the stakes from Of Faith & Flame and explores the wider paranormal world and its people - including the elusive vampires.

I loved the multiple POVs and Kade struggling to come to terms with his power. Meanwhile Evelyn in the clutches of the vampires had me on edge the whole time. Their relationship has gone through so much and Kade is so protective - he’s a cinnamon roll underneath the grumpiness!

And his brother Eldrick? I loved his tension with Tovi! She’s been treated so poorly by everyone in her life and expects the same from Eldrick. But he is down bad for her and their romantic moments were chefs kiss!

In Darkness & Duty also explores the prophecy more and those final few chapters were insane. The twists left me unable to put this book down and I need the next one after THAT cliffhanger!

Huge thanks to the author and BOMM for the ARC of this incredible book! I want to start by saying how much I loved this second installment of the series! With the kidnapping and the desperate search to find the victim, the action in this book was non-stop—it became an absolute page-turner. I couldn’t put it down and found myself completely immersed in the intoxicating tension and excitement. 📖💥

The plot thickened beautifully with the introduction of new characters and layers to the world-building. 🌌 We learned more about the werewolves, witches, and vampires, and discovered that everything the characters believed to be true was far from it. The revelations were heartbreaking, shaking the very foundation of their reality. 💔 It’s hard to imagine how they’ll cope after learning how deep the deception runs.

Tovi was such a complex character, and I wasn’t sure how to feel about her at first. 🤔 She was full of secrets, hiding truths from those she loved, and played a significant role in the kidnapping. But as her story unfolded, the reasons behind her actions made her surprisingly relatable. You can’t help but understand her, even if you don’t agree with everything she did.

I thought the tension in the first book was incredible, but this one raised the stakes even higher. 🔥 The longing, the banter, and the sparks between the main characters were absolutely electric. When they finally reunited, it was everything I hoped for—sizzling, intense, and heart-melting. 💥💞

The found family aspect of the team, the Grey Fenris, was one of my favorite parts. 🐺 They added so much warmth and camaraderie to the story, balancing the high-stakes drama with moments of levity. I loved their easygoing relationships, which made the darker elements of the plot more bearable. ☀️

This sequel also expanded the complexity of the world, introducing new challenges and plot twists in every chapter. 🌀 The pacing was fantastic, with no info-dumping, just smooth storytelling that kept me on the edge of my seat. I’m sad I have to wait for the third book because I need it now! 😫📚

ARC REVIEW:
In Darkness & Duty (book 2 in The Prophecies of Sorin Trilogy) by C.C. Tyler - Author Page

4/5 stars
1/5 spice

Pride and Prejudice meets werewolves, vampyrs, and witches? Oh my! In the second installment of The Prophecy of Sorin trilogy, we get two new points of view who make up the majority of this book. Tovi the vampry maybe ex-best friend (after all it is her brother who kidnapped Evelyn at the end of book 1) of Evelyn, and we don’t know if Tovi’s in on it or not. But even if she wasn’t? Could Evelyn accept that her best friend is a vampyr— they very thing Evelyn’s been fighting to end? Our other POV comes from that of a new character we have yet to meet— Eldrik Dregnr, Kade’s older brother and future Alpha of the Dregnr clan. She’s proud and he’s prejudiced. Can they ever learn to work together to help Kade rescue Evelyn from the clutches of the vamprys before it’s too late?

In Darkness & Duty picks up right where Of Faith & Flame ended. And we follow 2 different journeys— that of Evelyn in her captivity where we learn much, I think. Is it really learning much when it just leaves you with more questions than answers? And then we follow the journey of Kade, Tovi, Eldrik, and the Gray Fenris as they set out on mission(s) to rescue Evelyn before they can use her blood in some secret spell that will allow the vampyrs to walk in the sunlight.

Once again, CC delivered a book full of twists and turns that kept me coming back for more. The angst in this book was next level. This time though, I didn’t let CC fool me when I pegged the new “bad guy” in this book. I stuck to my guns, and repeatedly told the characters they were being dumb because they bad guy was right under their noses the whole time and no one ever suspected. But once again, CC got the upper hand as I walked right over that cliff even though I knew it was coming because there was still too many pages left when everyone was happy/calm/healthy/safe/etc. 😩

In Darkness & Duty is available for pre-order through Amazon and Barnes & Nobel. The book releases Tuesday, September 24th. Run and snag your copy if you haven’t already! You won’t want to miss where this story is heading!

Oh MAN. The second book in the Prophecy of Sorin Trilogy hits the ground running and basically never stops!

This sequel brought forth so much that I love: a gradually and artfully expanded world, exploration of new magic, lore and locales, a brand new couple to fall in love with (‼️‼️) alongside the one we already know and love, tons of action and intrigue, and some absolutely killer character development. Let’s get into all of it:

This world really grew in the most natural way. Without a trace of info-dumping, CC Tyler left me feeling like I’d learned something new and intriguing after just about every chapter. We explore entirely new lands in this book, and we learn about the different politics and challenges of each group of people. The history of the world is expanded upon in a very similar fashion, and it just really brought the world to life for me.

The characters: WOW did they take on a whole life of their own! I love, LOVE when an author can give us not one, but TWO couples with distinct dynamics and personalities to bring to the table, and this absolutely delivered in that way. We also learned more about our villains, in ways that humanize but still don’t redeem them, which is a development detail that always makes me feel more intrigued and enamored by a story.

All of this is thrown together in a high-fantasy world with witches, werewolves, vampyres, demons, curses and prophecies to make an absolute adventure of a book. The pacing is immaculate, the romance is swoon-worthy and spicy, mental health and human nature are explored BEAUTIFULLY (I see you, you fellow-mental-health-professional you!) and the action and magic makes the story impossible to put down. If the Prophecy of Sorin Trilogy is not on your radar yet, it should be now!

Thank you so very much to @authorcctyler for this eArc! I can’t WAIT to see what you come up with next! Books 1 & 2 in this series are out NOW and can be found on KU! ✨

The next instalment of ‘The Prophecy of Sorin’ trilogy does not disappoint.

With Evelyn gone again, this time against her will, Kade sets out on yet another mission to find her and bring her home safe. But the path will not be easy, with Evelyn having been taken to a place where no mortal dare enter – The Void. Drystan, the Vampire stronghold, is well guarded so Kade needs all the help he can get, even if it means working with the enemy.

Evelyn is not a damsel in distress. While she knows she must wait for help, that doesn’t mean she can’t do anything. Determined, Evelyn scours her prison in secret, looking for information that could prevent all out war.

Now don’t let the blurb fool you, this isn’t just about Evelyn and Kade anymore. And I was pleasantly surprised about that. While they both still play the biggest roles, more characters are introduced and delved into more. We get to see more of Tovi and more of Kade’s brother, Eldrick. Enemies to Lovers fans are gonna eat this up.

In this book we get to see more of the world and travel to different places across the sea. As you know I’m a sucker for lore and exploration so I was happy to get more of that! So much happened in this book but it wasn’t overwhelming, in fact when I finished the book I felt I needed MORE as I was enjoying it so much.

As with the previous book, my only negative is the action scenes near the end were rushed. Now this might be a me problem but that’s just my opinion.

Overall, the sequel goes just as hard as the first, if not harder. I recommend picking this book up if you liked the first one or are into vampires and werewolves, witches and monsters, and of course romance and tension.

Thank you to Book of Matches Media and C.C. Tyler for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This sequel beautifully expands on the story introduced in Book 1. Instead of merely picking up where we left off, we gain insight into Kade’s perspective, particularly during the tense moments when Evelyn fails to appear at the dock to leave with with Kade back. Kade soon uncovers the true nature of Tovi, leading him and Tovi on a mission to rescue Evelyn from Tovi’s brother, Riven.
One of the most captivating aspects of this installment is the addition of multiple points of view. Alongside Kade and Evelyn, we delve into the perspectives of Tovi and Eldrick, Kade’s older brother, which enriches the book. The story also introduces a secondary love plot, adding more layers to the unfolding drama. As Kade, Eldrick, Tovi, and their crew set off to save Evelyn from the Vampire Prince, we not only learn more about the characters but also the origins of the vampires themselves.
Themes of duty resonate strongly throughout the book, mirroring the first installment where Evelyn grapples with her obligation to marry Kade. The prophecy looms large, hinting at how Kade and Evelyn might confront the growing darkness. Evelyn shines fiercely as independent character, resisting rescue and seizing every opportunity to escape her situation. Tovi is also a very independent character who is tired to proving everyone that she has changed over the years. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this continuation of the series. It offers more depth, character development, and even a bit more spice than Book 1. I’m eagerly anticipating the release of Book 3!

This was such a thrilling sequel! The world building expanded as we traveled to the lands of the shifters and the vampires and the Void between them. The gothic vibes of the vampire castle were so captivating. Our cast of characters also grows and I absolutely adored the found family of Kade’s pack. The way they took in Tovi and defended her, ugh tugged on my heart. There were also so many twists and turns and I was hooked the entire time.

The enemies to lovers romance was so well written and truly felt like enemies to lovers. It was a rough road to overcome the prejudice present against vampires after years of believing one thing. The angst, the push and pull, saying the wrong things, that eventual realization. All aspects of enemies to lovers I love. Even if I wanted to shake some sense into Elderick a few times. I cannot wait to see how they handle what’s coming next.

But of course we still have Kade and Evelyn’s sweet romance to balance the angst. Their relationship was interrupted right as it was taking off and I liked how the author showed they have their own hurdles to overcome but that they talked it through. Evelyn really came into herself in this book and I loved her fierce independence and determination to fight. I also loved her new friendship with Belle so much!!

Overall, this was a solid sequel that more than delivered after the jaw dropping ending of book one with the unraveling of a much grander plot and expansion of our cast of characters to include a lovable found family.

“Never fear the decisions we make from the heart.”

Where to even begin?

We have new characters, places, bad guys, and so much more action.

I loved the direction Tyler went with these characters and the developments of the story. The twist, turns, emotions, and turmoil had me on my toes the whole book. We get a ton of information in the book that will be so important later. I was collecting bits and pieces of information trying to complete the puzzle along with our hero’s.

We got to experience a lot of what pack life looks look, and the relationship dynamics of those around Kade. His brother, uncle, father, those in his closets circle. It was fun to get insight into his “real” life outside of Evelyn.

This wasn’t about just Kade and Evelyn, who I fell in love with in the first book. We now have new players who are equally as special to me now.

Eldrick and Tovi were fire and ice in all the best ways. The development of their relationship had me in knots. I understood the positions of both side and yet wanted to beat them both to a pulp for not just taking the risk (or not taking it sooner I should say)

This book had balance, you get mystery, magic, bloodshed, heartache, traitorous behaviors, spies, and love. The plot thickened in this book and I have so many questions that I can’t wait to be answered in the next book. Thank you @ for allowing me to read your work and I cannot wait to see what else happens next!

Oh my good god. Just when I thought Of Faith and Flame could not be bettered, along came In Darkness & Duty. Just one word WOW

C C create worlds, characters and a story line that is so believable that I had no choice other than to read this story in one sitting, stopping only when I ran out of pages then vainly hoping that lurking there would be volume 3.

Now, to be honest, when I have finished this review, I am going to have to feast on a reread of Of Faith and Flame and In Darkness & Duty to be absolutely sure I have gleaned everything from them. It is rare for me to do this, but it is rare to read such complete, compelling, and well written stories.

The love stories and lives of our main interest Kade and Ev, and Edrick and Tovi are excellently put together. This is far more than enemies to lovers and romantic fantasy. There are peaks and troughs, darkness and light, unsaid words, and lost opportunities, in fact the ebbs and flows of normal live characterised and amplified in these characters and the families surrounding them.

There will be tears and angry words and a host of emotions hurled at the pages as you travel through the lines, but never regret at having picked up this book.

I cannot recommend this book strongly enough. A gem from a brilliant writer supported by a team that just 'get it'.

I received a free ARC of this book, but my review is entirely freely given.

The perfect sequel! There is more action, angst, self-doubt, mystery, and POVs(!) this go 'round!

After the events of In Faith and Flame, Kade and Evelyn are separated and Kade is trying to find his way back to her. There is plenty of pining from Kade, which is always heartbreaking. And Evelyn just proves to us again that she's a fierce force. Her instinct isn't to wallow, it's to figure out this all out and get back to her love.

Now, I'll say this. If this story were just Kade and Evelyn pining after each other and trying to get back together, this would have gotten old fast. But here is the genius of CC Tyler....she went ahead and brought us a new couple (enemies to lovers at that!). And WHEW! It was a treat! An emotional roller coaster, but a treat nonetheless!

In comes Tovi and Eldrick. This pairing couldn't be more perfect. We get to find out more about Eldrick, whom we hear a lot about in IFAF, and we learn so much more about the mysterious Tovi. I adored both of these characters, the book would not have been the same without them.

There are also more side characters introduced, part of the mystery is solved, and we get an amazing twist along the way that brought me joy (even if it pissed off Eldrick....but what doesn't?).

I loved this book! Now I'll just twiddle my thumbs for the final installment of the trilogy.

Overall: highly recommend!
