A new season of life is nerve-wracking for eleven-year-old Galilee. Can she stay true to who she is and her beliefs at a new public school?
What if I don’t make friends? What if I fall in front of the entire sixth grade? Galilee’s mind runs wild as she moves through the city toward her new public school. On the first day, she meets three girls that are very different from her previous classmates. Despite traumatic pasts, Muslim culture, and Jewish belief systems, a strong love for one another develops. The four girls walk together through a rollercoaster of emotions as they devise a plan to change the attitude of the sixth-grade bully.
Galilee is an award-winning middle-grade novel filled with beautiful, diverse friendships and Jesus’s love. This unique novel has Scripture Sessions at the back of the book to guide young readers with an age-appropriate Bible study directly related to the story.
MB Stephens is an award-winning writer who is passionate about representing diverse characters to ensure that all youth feel seen and understood.
MB is the wife of a home-improvement-loving husband and the mother of two strong-willed girls, two rambunctious boys, and two doodle puppies.
Inspiration for Galilee was sparked by her experience teaching urban youth as well as the experiences of her children in urban schools. She has a dual BS in General Education and Special Education with an English concentration and an MS in Special Education focusing on behavior analysis. MB resides in downtown Buffalo, New York, with her family. When she is not typing at full speed, she loves tending to her garden and exploring outside with her kids in the summer. However, in the blustery winter, she prefers being curled up under a blanket while sipping caramel-flavored coffee and becoming lost in a book.
This one of the best books I have ever read. And I feel like I say that a lot but it’s true! I was one of the first people who read it and I thought it was amazing.
I am definitely a fantasy reader and don’t usually enjoy real life books but this book I enjoyed so much!!!!! I loved Galilee so much!! With her fiery spirit and operation smile.
I would recommend it for 8 and older depending on their or yours reading level. It is amazing story and will teach your kids (and yourself lol) Gods amazing love and his amazing plans.
5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
(Ps, I heard that there might be book 2!!! So stay toned and follow the author on Instagram!!!)
This book is so different from a lot of Christian coming-of-age stories I’ve seen! I love the diversity of Galilee’s friend group, and I feel like young girls need to see how to treat others who aren’t like them. I wish I was more like Galilee when I was her age! A wonderful read overall.
This book is such a positive, wonderful read for young girls. Navigating middle school and social relationships is never easy, but sixth grade Galilee manages to find some really great friends at her new school. The four girls stay true to themselves and their beliefs, but they develop a beautiful, supportive, friendship throughout the book. This book is awesome as it also encourages and equips young women with a Bible and Devotional study in the back. It is a wonderful read and MB Stephens crafts a beautiful story of friendship!
This is the book I’ve been looking for 🙌🏻 A book that I can feel good about giving my kids to read!
The characters are such kind role models for young kids/girls and the storyline showcases kindness in the face of differences and kindness even to those who are unkind. It celebrates friendship across diverse lines of faith and culture and is truly such a refreshing and positive picture of humanity.
This book is a must read for parents and kids alike! I can’t wait until my daughter is older and we can read it aloud together. 10/10 recommend.
I loved this, entire book. MB did a fantastic job writing this book. I think this would be a perfect book for all young ladies to read. They would gain so much understanding about friendship and Jesus love for each big us
