Recent college graduate and Broadway star wannabe Penny O'Brien returns to the Boundary Waters for a funeral one year after her canoe-camping adventure with Northern Woods. She stumbles into a job in Misty Lake to supplement her meager gig income and finance auditions.
Beckett Young lives and works in Cincinnati, far away from his elitist family, but he maintains the perks of his trust fund. The tragic death of his beloved aunt plunges him into depression until he's summoned to Misty Lake for the reading of her will. A stunning redhead in the tiny town captures his attention, and while casual dating is Beckett's usual MO to avoid hassles with his family, he's enchanted with the practical and fiercely independent woman.
Penny is all in for a short-term fling with a classy guy. But after a few dates with Beckett Young, it's clear they're barreling toward something more serious. How will they juggle a long-distance relationship in the midst of his meddling parents and her struggling career?
Amy writes contemporary romance amongst the birds and blue skies of Raleigh, NC. Her stories are set in the fiercely protected Boundary Waters Canoe Wilderness Area of northern Minnesota, providing an idyllic backdrop for her characters to fall in and out of love. When not puzzling together a plot, she can be found walking around her neighborhood, eating chocolate, or visiting her three adult children scattered across North America.
What a charming romance story! The setting, characters, and sense of mystery at how the romance would evolve were incredible. It was the perfect way to spend a cozy winter day. Can’t wait to read more from this author!
This is another wonderful romance novel by Ms. Hepp. It revolves around Penny O’Brien, who returns to the Boundary Waters a year after her canoeing trip in the Northern Woods. While working in Misty Lake, she meets Beckett Young, a Cincinnati resident summoned to attend the reading of his aunt's will after her untimely death.
Penny and Beckett date casually, but as time passes, both realize their relationship is taking a more serious turn. They face challenges like maintaining their long-distance relationship and dealing with Beckett's parents, who interfere in their amorous affairs.
The novel has many scenes depicting several situations in Penny and Beckett’s relationship, which they have to overcome. That made it a page-turner for me.
Ms. Hepp’s unique writing style is evidenced in her narrative and her well-developed and relatable characters. The descriptive imagery of the settings in the novel is so well defined that it transports the reader into the novel’s world. The novel is truly enjoyable, especially for those of us who like romance.
Amy Hepp gives us a multi-themed romance with relatable characters and descriptive story telling.
Once again, she has me longing to explore the boundary waters. If you've not read Northern woods in this series, it showcases a canoe trip through the boundary waters.
I wanna go!
