Cherry Peak #3

Chasing Home

Rate this book
I came to Cherry Peak to find answers. Ones that could change the entire trajectory of my life forever.

The idea of searching for the sister I never knew existed was simple enough, but I should have known better than to expect something with such high stakes to go according to plan.

It only took one night of dancing between tables in a small town bar for all of said plans to turn to ash. I wasn’t here to fall into the arms of a man who wears his heart on his sleeve and a grin on his all-too handsome face, yet there’s something about Johnny that keeps tugging me closer. He claims it’s a sign from the universe. I say he’s too big of a dreamer.

I’m caught between seeking the answers I need to move on with my life and spending every spare moment I have learning more about the man who considers me his.

The tangled vines of my family tree seem to drape over every corner of Cherry Peak. Once I cut one, two more grow in its place. What was supposed to be a quick trip of discovery has turned into something that has me considering staying forever.

I’ve been chasing a home for so long, but do I really fit in this small town, or have I just grown too blind to see a life without it?

"Once upon a time... I wished upon a star..."
With all the teasing I got about Johnny being this and that, I was dying to read this book. Whenever someone hypes up a hero this much, I always wonder if they’re overselling it. Not in this case. Never in this case. Can you tell I’m in love?

"A woman beautiful enough to make a grown man’s knees shake at the sight of you. To have him tripping over his feet just to get over to you before someone else swoops in."
I loved Rory. It would be hard not to, and I always love the plus-size rep. I loved her sass, her snark, and the way she definitely knows what she wants. And her backstory and past made her very real to me.

"Johnny has an uncanny ability to yank you into his orbit without warning, and once you’re there, it’s nearly impossible to break free."
Johnny is the hero my own dreams are made of. He’s a hard worker, he’s the best friend and brother you can have, and the way he puts his heart on the line for others stole mine. His POV is to die for, and the way he feels about Rory… O. M. G.

"I recognized something there between us. Something incredible. A spark that I haven’t felt a single time in my life before then. Not with anyone."
Rory and Johnny meet at a bar, and I don’t think I’ll ever forget the way he feels and what he thinks when he sees her for the first time. Damn, honestly? If only someone would think the same about me, I would marry the guy. Suffice to say he’s instantly very interested, but she keeps him at arm’s length.
Is that enough to deter him? Absolutely not.

"What kind of reward are you hoping for?"
"Let me walk you home tonight."
"That seems like a waste of a reward."
"Not even close."

He’s not pushy. He’s just… there. He’s waiting for her to see him. He lends an ear and a shoulder. He supports her. Even when he initially doesn’t know everything that’s going on with her, he shows her she can count on him.
And he’s the first person who makes her feel that he’d always come back for her, even when she does her best to send him away.

"With all the winking you do, some would assume you constantly have something in your eyes."
"Fuck me, you like busting balls,"

I won’t lie—he’s a pretty awesome flirt too. She likes shutting him down, though, and it’s so fun that, instead of making him run away, it turns him on. It takes a while for her to understand that he’s pining for her, and a bit more to see that he’s really not going anywhere.
And the only reason for that is the way he feels about her.

"I’ve got manners in spades, Aurora. Spent a lot of time thinkin’ about how I’d treat a woman I was this interested in. One thing you’ll never have to worry about with me is being treated less than you deserve."
From getting her her favorite coffee, to getting her car fixed, to fixing her porch, to the horses… It all says I love you. I fell for him. And seeing how nervous he got when she finally agreed to go on a date with him… Gah, he’s adorable. Absolutely incredible.

"If you stop, I’m going to die, Johnny. I need—"
"I know what you need. You don’t have to beg me for anything. Ever."

When they finally kiss, when they finally touch… It was worth all the back and forth and all the slow burn. The dirty mouth on this man mixed with the way he compliments her and she has no idea what to do about it were perfection.

"But can you love who I am? Beyond everything you’ve just told me? Can you love my bitterness and social anxiety? My baggage?"
"What would you do if I said I already do?"

It’s hard to pinpoint my favorite moment because it’s the whole book. You see her starting to believe he truly cares, starting to realize he’s not leaving her, starting to understand he loves her exactly the way she is and he wouldn’t have it any other way. And they know it’s more than okay to be themselves because they love each other just like that.

"What did you wish for?"
"You, Rory. I wished for you."

Wishes on a star that turn real years later might be something from a fairy tale, but it’s very real for them. They’ve been waiting for each other without realizing it, but now that they do, it’s all that matters. A life with the one person who will always choose you. A life with the person who is home.

happy release day!

johnny and rory are here! when rory comes to town to figure out her past, johnny sees her at a bar and literally is dumbstruck on his knees. rory is closed off and an anxious girlie and takes a while to warm up and trust him.

hannah writes boy obsessed like no other. johnny is willing to meet rory where she is and give her space and support whenever she needs it. and he really is so perfect for her. this book is sweet, spicy, and low angst set in the cutest small town. and ofc has hannah’s found fam that she does so well!

thank you @hannah for an arc!! 💖

This had the potential to be soo good, but it just wasn’t that great. There wasn’t really build up to their relationship imo. And I just didn’t like the h that much. Aaaand I was promised a jealous h, but there was one scene and that’s it so I was really let down by that 😒 and with that scene she had a right to be jealous bc why is he letting some girl touch all over him???( ok not really touch all over him but idk why he let her touch him at all)

thank u hannah for an arc of this book <3

my god never have i heard a girl bitch and moan more, U ARE 30 ACT LIKE IT, yes ik u dont have a dad and he doesnt love u, and im sry truly, but their whole relationship was kinda built on the fact that he was obsessed with her and she was just there being like ok im bored ill accept it, if this couple met in NOT a small town they wont spare a second glance, i cant imagine them staying together bc he will get bored of her istg, theyre cute and fluffy and i did like rorys internal monlogue abt not feeling good enough i think that was kinda beautiful but their relationship just does not feel developed

i feel bad for hating so ill tell u the things i did like: bryce AND MAYBE DAISY??, garrison x poppy, JOHNNY, i think the found family is always so fun, but most of the book rory was fighting it which was unfortunate, for all the flaws i listed, i rly think the concept of this book was great and there were some really sweet quotes and i think they rly took care of eachother

WAIT LEMME HATE AGAIN IM SRY, BUT LIKE 50-60% THRU HE CALLED HER HIS GF???!!! LIKE SIR WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN, they didnt even talk abt it bro… also at the end she left and then she came back obv and bro she didnt even say sorry. girl what… i will say i enjoyed the lil “i need to be with my family.” “but im your family.” i ate that shit up gimme more angst

to wrap this up this book fell flat, summary of the plot: boy sees girl and is obsessed —> boy likes girl alot for no reason —> girl accpets for something in return —> HORSE --> girl starts to like boy bc he fixes her house for free and buys her food —> “im leaving we shouldnt do this.” “yea i get u have things to figure out but lemme finger u.” —> ur now my bf!! ur my gf!! —> attempt to resolve daddy issues —> I LOVE U SO MUCH NO ONE IS BETTER FOR ME —> yay happy ending

anyways she def liked him for the free manual labor and he liked her bc she has big tits

3 stars only bc johnny is the kindest baby ever

special shout out to chelsea who taught me how to roast, i love u my feral rat

4.25⭐️

I was so excited to read this one😍😭 this story is set in Cherry Peak (which I wish I could visit in real life bc it sounds magical) and follows Johnny & Aurora. We get a glimpse of these two in the last book and I just KNEW I would be so into their vibes. Johnny is an easy going, sweet heart of a cowboy & aurora (Rory) is a very closed-off grump who only opens herself up to few people & just wants answers about her father. The two of them are so unexpectedly perfect for one another & I just can’t get over it!!!!!!

The acts of service in this book has me weak in the knees & all the things that Johnny does to court Rory & win Rory’s heart is so freaking SWOONY & SWEET! There are a lot of heartfelt moments in this story, not just between the main characters but between Rory & several others that made me emotional. The found family aspect of the book is so strong and I really felt it deep in my heart!!

The audio book was lovely & the narrators (Amy hall & alex Knox) were perfect for the voices!!

ALSO!! I couldn’t stop playing “I think they call this love” by Elliot James Reay on repeat in my head when reading bc I swear to god it was Johnny in song form!!

Spice: 🌶️🌶️

Tropes:
Age gap (she’s older)

everytime i finish a hannah cowan book i want to crawl into a deep dark whole away from the world and everyone and immediately start it over.

this book is literally so incredibly comforting. johnny is an angel. he’s the most perfect representation of a golden retriever sunshiny cowboy i’ve ever read in my life and rory is a grumpy black cat angel that i will literally protect with my life. yet again, eliza and wade are literally icons in cherry peak and i want to hug wade so bad he’s so grumpy on the outside soft on the inside and just everything and eliza is so 🥺

ugh these two were meant for each other in every single way possible. even when rory fought it they just god I LOVE THEM SO MUCH HANNAH WHY DID YOU DO THIS TO ME. i’m in shambles.

Back to Cherry Peak we go and this time it's to help Johnny and Aurora find true love!

Aurora is guarded and only in town for a very specific goal. To find out more about her father who abandoned her mother before Rory was born. She doesn't want connections and she's very on edge with everyone.

Then there's Johnny. A cowboy and hired hand at the ranch. He sweeps her off her feet in a small town bar and she just can't get him out of her head. He's eight years her junior and full of idealistic dreams. He's completely smitten with her and irresistible to this black can heroine. His golden retriever ways are almost too much for her. Yet, he brings a joy and comfort to her she's been missing.

I loved how enamored with Aurora Johnny was. He was sweet, sexy, and a tease. He just wants to get to know her and maybe get another dance or two. But the more time he spends pursuing her the more he may want to keep her forever. All the things he does to woo her just made me sigh. He was so dreamy.

I also felt for Aurora as she tries to unwind her family tree. There are some hard truths she must face and while she resists Johnny for quite a while, she can't help but be charmed by him. I loved watching her fall for him and Cherry Peak in general. He has always had a dream about the perfect partner for his future and when he sees Aurora as that possibility, he really goes for it. He was also very... erm.. eager in all things. ;)

This was another great entry to the series, with some surprisingly emotional moments. I loved the found family aspects and close community. I really felt at home with this romance.

5 stars
3.5 on the spice scale

This is my favourite Hannah Cowan book yet!

Johnny and Rory are so perfect for each other. Johnny is the golden retriever to Rory’s black cat, and he falls hard and fast for her. Her treats her exactly the way she needs to be treated and the way she DESERVES to be treated. She’s understandably skittish, but watching her grow and become more comfortable to lean into loving Johnny was a beautiful thing to read. As always, the cast of secondary characters is also fabulous (Eliza and Wade? I would die for them.)

This is one of the best written, most compelling, and devastatingly emotional books I’ve read in a while (and I’ve read 172 books this year so far). Get your butt to Cherry Peak ASAP!

*I received an ARC for the author in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

3.75⭐️ let me just tell you; this man was down SO BAD for Rory🗣️🗣️ like, if you want your MMC begging, look no further‼️

Johnny was such a golden retriever, but had the filthiest mouth🤭 also can we get a round of applause for no third act breakup!! anddd while the plot was low key kinda predictable, i still really enjoyed this story because of the found family & character growth of the FMC.

tandem read along with the audio and would recommend!🎧

“Chasing Home” is the third book in Cherry Peak series and let me tell you: I was SO excited to finally have Johnny’s story. Since his first appearance I knew I would love him and everything about his story - and that’s so, so true!

One of my favorite parts in this book and in the whole series, in general, is the found family trope. Hannah knows what she’s doing and I found myself crying multiple times because of those scenes.

My favorite part about this story is Johnny and everything about him: his pov, his family and his feelings. Usually, I am not a big fan of “rever-se age gap” but this book worked for me because Hannah truly knew how to write both of the characters.

Aurora and her backstory made my heart hurt - I love her and I was rooting for her happiness the whole freaking book!

Johnny’s family is amazing and how close he is with them is one of my favorite things in the whole book and I will never shut up about that!

I am so, so excited for book 4 - I can’t wait!!

Please do yourself a favor and start this series right now - you will not regret, I can promise you that!

Thank you again Hannah for trusting me with another of your babies. I appreciate you lots!

No, because WHAT HAPPENED TO THE LETTERS??? Why was that PLOT UNFINISHED? You are telling me I was sobbing in my bed at 4 AM for nothing? And I got no answer as to what happened to the letters. I legit didn’t really give a shit about the couple in this book; I was so hooked with the plot about her mum and sperm giver. Like, how are you gonna make us read her mum's letters that were sent to her sperm giver, telling him he has a child, and then tell us he never received them, but not give a reason? Like, nah, that’s just cruel. LIKE WTF HAPPENED TO HER LETTERS??

And why was he so casual about it when he found out about the letters 30 years later, like did he receive them but was lying? Like, I need to know, is the plot twist that he actually received them but is lying, or what? Because this is not making sense. He just dismissed it and goes, "Oh, the record label probs thought it was fan mail." BUT THAT DOESN’T MAKE FKN SENSE BECAUSE HER MUM GOT THE LETTERS SENT BACK TO HER EVERY TIME. Like, since when do they send fan mail back? They would either keep it in a damn cupboard with all the other fan mail or just throw it in a bin. You’re telling me every single fan mail he would receive was sent back to the fan?? FKN BULLSHIT. I WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO THE DAMN LETTERS. WHO SENT IT BACK? WAS IT HIM? DID HE KNOW?? WAS IT WANDA’S MUM THE ENTIRE TIME? I THOUGHT HER WANDER’S MUM SENT IT BACK, THATS THE ONLY OHER REAOSN THAT WOULD MAKE SENSE she had his damn baby also ONKY ONE MONTH AFTER it legit makes so much sense she saw the letters and got jealous cause he got his first love pregnant but she doesn’t want to tell him cause she also is having a babY so she secretly returns the letters HONESTLY THAT WOULD MAKE SENSEE!! I NEEDA KNOWWW!!

Listen. I’ve been trying for weeks to find the words to describe how much I love this book and how much it means to me but I just can’t but I’m going to try.

Ever since we got to see more of Johnny in Catching Sparks I’ve been desperate to read his story and I was not disappointed. This man is the DEFINITION of prince charming. He’s so sweet, patient, loves with his whole chest, believes in fairy tales AND HE BEGS??? What more do you need?? Absolutely nothing

And then we have my Aurora girl. I have never in my life resonated with a character more. This girl is me and reading this book I felt so understood. Rory is the grumpy, introverted, would rather stay home than go out kind of girl that just needed the kind of love that Johnny offers and together they’re perfect. I actually saw a lot of my relationship in theirs and it was so special 😭

Cherry Peak is such a comfort series for me and this book just added to that. I was kicking my feet and squealing reading their story and don’t even get me started on their first kiss. The breathlessness I felt reading it??? Something I’ve never experienced when reading a book. I could literally talk about these two for hours and how much I adore them. I just finished reading their story and I miss them already 🥺

4/5✨️ 2.5/5🌶

Hannah takes us back to Cherry Peak with Johnny and Rory's story. Despite their numerous differences, Johnny and Rory were so adorable; their lunch dates alone had me giddy; they truly complement one another so well. As such, their story truly felt like a warm hug.

We met Johnny in the last book where he’s a ranch hand for Steele Ranch, and Rory is the new girl in town. When these two meet on a night out in Peakside and after a spin around the dance floor, Johnny is bewitched and obsessed, but Rory isn't in Cherry Peak to fall in love. She has her eye set on finding the pieces to make her heart feel whole again when a family secret turns her life upside down, Cherry Peak is a pit stop to find her sister, until her return home. Yet, Johnny gives her a glimpse into the charm of a small town with a piece of his heart, a community, and practically the entire world. Rory's heart begins to mend the longer she stays in Cherry Peak. But, will it be enough for Johnny and Rory to have their forever?

After meeting Johnny in Catching Sparks, I was already so in love with the man. If you love men like Theo Silva, you're going to love Johnny, as he was raised right by his mother's. He has the kindest romantic soul you've ever met; he's outgoing, a hard worker, and everyone in town loves Johnny. I love that Johnny could read Rory; he understood her sometimes better than she knew herself. He guided her but never pushed her, and Johnny is just hot as hell. Rory is a soul character for me; she's for all of us who are difficult to love, who say exactly what is on our minds, who aren't very fond of people, and who are stubborn as a bull. However, all Rory wants to find are those missing pieces, but I loved uncovering Rory and seeing her find true happiness.

Nevertheless, Hannah finally gave us my favorites, Wade and Eliza, and I was thrilled to observe their history and love story. I also loved seeing the other couples and how they have evolved throughout the series; that I'm already itching for Bryce's book.

Thank you to Hannah for the ARC 💕

I fall more in love with hannah’s writing every time i pick up one of her books but i just knew this one was going to end up on my absolute favs list, call it intuition when I saw the pink cover honestly.

y’all know i always love me a cowboy but johnny was just absolutely exceptional the definition of the heart eyes emoji, literal embodiment of a golden retriever I knew since the moment he was introduced he was going to be one of my favorite hannah cowan men. He’s the ranch hand for steele ranch and during a night out on the town at peakside he meets rory and he is immediately smitten.

Rory is my GIRLLLL like i love her she was so relatable in the sense that she views herself and believes that others view her as unloveable she has this tough exterior and I honestly loved it, I love the sunshine women in books but getting the black cat characters who won’t shy away from speaking their mind, are not keen to being a people person and just very to themselves is so refreshing i need more honestly.

This book is for you if you’re a lover of that black cat x golden retriever duo, or if you just really need a great found family story or just an amazing love story about two people who seem like they couldn’t be more different realizing that perhaps they’re just what the other needs then this book (honestly this series) is for you 🩷

also thank you hannah for the arc ily you’re an angel 🫶🏾

@ GOODREADS GIVE ME A 4.5 star rating option!!!!!!!

Hannah has made me fall in love with another fictional man 😩 One of the best fictional men I have ever read ‼️

Hannah, you continue to give us amazing books in this series and I’m so grateful for you for working your absolute ass off! You did the damn thing! (Again!)

Johnny and Aurora (Rory) were so stinking cute it’s not even funny. They felt like a nice warm hug all throughout the book. Johnny sees Rory at Peakside, the local bar in Cherry Peak, and is instantly drawn to her. Pretty much love at first sight for this man. But Rory is very much a black cat and didn’t want to get close to anyone while she’s supposed to be just passing through. She wants more information on her biological father, who she just discovered the identity of, at the age of 30.

Johnny and Rory have a moment on the dance floor, which only makes Johnnys feelings for Rory grow stronger. But now with some time passing by, and Johnny giving Rory some space to think about the possibility of giving him a chance, their chances of getting together one way or another are more likely than they were before. Because Johnny is an absolute cinnamon roll of a human. Man will drop off coffee for her after learning her order. He will drop everything and play Mr. Fixer Upper at her house she’s staying in. He will help her find her father if it brings a smile to her face. 🥹🥹 but he’ll also surprise you and be spicy as hell, too 😮‍💨

There were so many amazing moments in Johnny and Rory’s love story. I mean, just ask Hannah herself, because I was truly blowing up her DMs left and right with my reactions.

I can’t wait for everyone to read this book. Definitely a favorite book of mine written by Hannah. 💗

Tropes⤵️
- love at first sight
- small town
- cinnamon roll cowboy
- age gap (she’s older)
- swooony as f-ck
- found family

We’re back in Cherry Peak with our boy Johnny and his girl, Aurora! We’ve loved Johnny since day one, and seeing just how lovable and caring he is in his book was a treat!

He’s had eyes for Aurora (who’s new to the town) since she walked into the town bar and begrudgingly gave him a dance before avoiding their chemistry like the plague. Johnny will not be deterred because he felt the same spark she did. I loved watching Johnny show Aurora all the ways he wanted to know her better, all while moving at Aurora’s pace. Aurora has her reasons for being in Cherry Peak, but even she can’t resist Johnny’s charm and the found family on Steele Ranch and her newfound friend group. And let me tell you, when Aurora gets jealous and finally claims her man, I was CHEERING.

Johnny and Aurora’s relationship fit perfectly into the Cherry Peak family. The author has a talent for creating found families. Each book makes me more nostalgic as we get to look back on past couples and see how they support Johnny and Aurora. I can’t wait for Bryce and Daisy’s book!

TROPES: small town, love at first sight (for him), found family, she’s older, golden retriever/black cat, LGBTQ+ rep (family and friends), acts of service

TW: parental abandonment, toxic family dynamics

Okay this was so bloody cute. Hannah is such a comfort author for me and I loved the latest instalment from Cherry Peak!

4.5 ⭐️ what to expect: small town, reverse age gap, golden retriever x black cat, close proximity

I really enjoyed this; such a lovable group of characters and honestly Johnny was so bloody cute. Wise beyond his years, emotionally mature. Absolute perfection. No other way to describe him. Rory was so grumpy and man I loved and appreciated it so much. I’m a grumpy girl, too and reading them makes me feel seen. I loved how this didn’t get in Johnnys way though, he was so patient with Rory and his acts of service were so perfect and testament to his character.

Special mention must also go to Eliza and Wade. The role they both played in this book was so special, the way they both took Johnny and Rory under their wings and gave the best advice!

I really enjoyed this, a great addition to the Cherry Peak series and I am wildly excited for Bryce’s story 👀👀👀

I love being on your team, Hannah. Thank you 💜

If there is ever a trope that I love, black cat x golden retriever, and this book is no exception.

I just loved Johnny and Rory so much. His ability to be persistent without being forceful or overbearing. Her learning to let other people in. One thing I love about this series is not only the love that is found in the couple, but the bond that is formed with Anna, Poppy, Bryce, and Rory. Plus, if I’m so honest, Wade Steele’s grumpy self just makes me swoon.

And Hannah, girlie, you’re little tie in to your other series? I see youuuuu!

Another book to add to my Hannah Cowan shelf!

This book series is just perfect💗

H 22
h 30

- He falls first and harder
- Cowboy romance
- Golden retriever MMC // black cat FMC
- He begs
- Reversed age gap

I really enjoyed this book, and how sweet Johnny was and how quickly he fell for her. He is raised by two moms and three sisters, and always believed in HEA, and he knew fast that FMC was his forever.
It’s a super cute, low angst book, and really liked how he always only wanted her from the moment he saw her.

OWD 1 time:
Not a manwhore. He’s slept with six people in total. Not discussed when last time was for either of them, but you get the feeling it’s been some time.

He takes fmc to but some horses, and a girl there is one he took on a date 1 year ago (long before meeting FMC), absolutely nothing happened that time, and he told her that time that he didn’t feel anytime other than friendship, and haven’t talked to her since.
But she touches him when he shows up, and the fmc gets jealous and sad. He didn’t stop the ow because he wanted fmc to understand that she feels something for him, but it’s just cruel (for fmc but also ow who happens to starts crying when he tells her that fmc is his girl and he showd up with her). Understand why he did it, and he kept holding fmc in the belt loop to keep her close, but still felt like he should have just stopped. It’s a small scene, so not much focus, and he is sweet afterwards and telling her how he wanted to throw ow away from him - he is a nice guy and don’t want to hurt her, but still?
BUT - He didn’t do anything wrong, he thought the ow had moved on since he had been honest with her and haven’t seen each other in over a year. So I got over this quickly, because he is so in love with FMC😍

This is my favourite in the series so far and I knew it would be and that’s why I soft DNFed it when I was in a reading slump. But i’m so happy I went back because Johnny is everything!

if you don't have it down your calendars you better fucking mark it right. now.
july 18th. chasing home. the best fairy tale there is. Hannah has put me through the wringer with johnny and rory in the best way possible and they quickly became my favorites. I ate this up in less than 24h.
don't get me wrong, Hannah can write a grocery list and I'll read it, and I love every single book she's written, but her in her small town/cowboys era????? hands down my favorite!!
while you wait for the prince charming and his princess, go read the first two books in the series and fall in love with cherry peak!

I blame Hannah Cowan for my unrealistic expectations of a man and the reasons for this come in the form of Johnny Mitchell🤠

Theres a special thing about Cherry Peak. It feels like home. With each and every book in this series you get more sucked in and form a deep connection with the characters, Johnny and Aurora did not alter this.

Johnny and Aurora, these two have me speechless. Their story was a fairytale. Literal Prince Charming but make him a cowboy.

These two were ment to cross paths and no matter when it was, the stars would always align for them. An actual wish on a shooting star to have the love that these two share. They brought tears to my eyes, made my heart grow three sizes, and made me feel so full and warm. These two bleed love for eachother, bleed care and dedication for a strong relationship, and find the little things about eachother to show they listen.

Johnny Mitchell, look him up and you will see a picture of a golden retriever. He will follow Rory around and do anything she says no matter what it is. Since the first day he saw her, he knew he needed Aurora in his life and would not give up- went to all ends. A walk home? No worries, Johnny will go too just for 5 minutes alone. Your lunch? No worries, Johnny coincidentally has two plates made. Johnny meet my new list of expectations in a man, expectations of a man meet the man who made you grow 10x

Aurora Bennet, our little black cat of the relationship believes she is in and out of Cherry Peak and will not form relationships with anyone. She comes searching for her sister and answers about her family, but never actually ends up leaving? She finds the answers but also finds a family, love, and a real home. When you first meet her, she has walls and slowly overtime you can see cracks starting to form and her sunshine personality really shines through them. It’s ironic how Rory went to Cherry Peak to find answers about her family, but learned what it’s like to have and be apart of a real family.

Cherry Peak gets better and better every book and I really did now know it was possible. The found family continues to grow and be so open to new people coming in. When the girl gang met Rory, I was on the floor. They were so so sweet, welcoming, and made sure no one messed with her. The girls made sure she knew she was one of them.

I got the honor to ALC this beautiful story as well and wow oh wow. The narrators did nothing short of a perfect job depicting the emotions of Johnny & Aurora really making me feel the pain in their voices. These two were truly brought to life by this audio and just enhanced my love and obsession for Chasing Home 10x. Each and every HC book gets better and better without question. The narrators are always selected perfectly and match their characters phenomenally. I cannot wait to listen to all future HC books, as well as relisten to all the others.

Thank you Hannah & LB for both of the arc & alc opportunities!! Forever thankful for you both

Book 3 in the Cherry Peak series.

Johnny and Aurora ❤️

This was solid and I really loved Johnny. He’s such a sweetheart 🥹. And he’s just fun!

I felt like Aurora was very immature but hey.

It’s easy to read, and the found family is there ☺️

GAHHHH. HANNAH!!! WHAT DID YOU PUT IN THIS BOOK???? this was amazing. no notes.

When I found out that Johnny was going to get his own book, I was so excited because he is the cutest thing ever.

This story follows Johnny and Aurora. We met Johnny in Catching Sparks, and he built a friendship with Garrison. Aurora is new in town, having moved from Calgary to find out about her birth father, who also happens to be the father of Wanda Rose. She is very closed off and has her walls up even when the girls try to bring her into their friend group. If there was ever love at first sight, it is what these two have. They are written in the stars.

Johnny is a believer in fate and coincidences because of his mother's, and he grew up with sisters. I have never read about such a cinnamon roll like Johnny. He literally melted my heart, and he is everything a woman wants. The way he speaks about Aurora and the way he treats her I think we all want to be treated that way. Even though she has her walls up, he is adamant about bringing them down little by little, and he gives her the space to open up to him. he would never want to keep her somewhere she does not want to be. He wants her to be able to spread her wings and explore. He had waited 22 years for her, and she was what he had wished for when there was a shooting star.

Aurora is very closed off and a black cat. She tends to keep her emotions inside of her because she did not grow up with her father. She knew that she should not get attached to anything in Cherry Peak because she was not going to stay for long. Meeting the girls, Eliza and Wade, and Johnny changed that for her. They gave her the space to open up to them whenever she was ready. She had a family right there in Cherry Peak and they were not even blood. She was able to form a relationship with her sister even if the one with her father was not the one that she wanted to have.

Johnny and Aurora are so cute and I love their relationship so much. When Johnny tells her that she never is the one to beg that it is him........HOTTTT. This was infinity stars for me and this was such an amazing and beautiful read. I am so excited to see what Hannah writes next.

Highlights:

"A woman like you deserves to dance."
"A woman like me?"
"A woman beautiful enough to make a grown man's knees shake at the sight of you. To have him tripping over his feet to just get over you before someone else swoops in."

Not once in my life have I experienced anything like this before. Love at first sight or something cheesy like that. Yeah, it's gotta be. Or close to it.

Johnny has an uncanny ability to yank you into his orbit without warning, and once you're there, it's nearly impossible to break free.

"You're putting a hell of a lot of eggs in one basket. How do you know you'll like what you find the further you dig?"
"I've got a good sense of intuition."
"I've never made a decision based off of blind faith before."
"I don't know about blind, darlin'. I've got twenty-twenty vision, and right now, it's dead focused on you."

"Can I help?"
"I've never needed help before."
"It's not a bad thing. Maybe you don't need it, but it's okay to want it."

"Are you dangerous, Johnny."
"Not when it comes to you."

"I don't like it when you're upset, Rory. Not one damn bit."
"It's not the end of the world."
"Feels like it to me."

"Don't call me what everyone else does. I'm not everyone else to you anymore."

"I'm completely obsessed with her. All I want is to keep her here with me. I feel it, you know? The knowing that you told us about as kids, Mama."
"Follow that feeling, Johnny. Grab it, and don't let it go."

"How are you real?"
"The same way you are."

I should know better than to expect anything when it comes to Johnny. Every time I think he can't possibly do something else to blow my mind, he goes and proves me wrong. They certainly don't make men like him where I'm from. Every day I spend with him, I become surer that I'll never find one like him again.

"Ask me what I wish for when I was a kid, Rory."
"What did you wish for?"
"You, Rory. I wished for you."
"How could you wish for someone you had never met?"
"I didn't know I was wishin' for you. Not yet."

"I love you, Johnny."
"I love you, Aurora Bennett."
"Then kiss me in the rain, you helpless romantic."

"You're so beautiful, Aurora. I never thought I'd find someone like you."
"Someone like me?"
"Someone who hears me and sees me for who I am beneath the humor and the grins. Yeah, that's who I am most of the time, but with you, I don't always have to be. You've given me the safe space to be myself, and I hope I've done that for you as well."

"Please, Johnny."
"I'm the one that begs. Not you. Not ever you."

"You're my forever girl. My wish on a shooting star. I've been waiting for you."
"I was waiting for you too."

"You chose me this time."
"I'll choose you every time."

Tropes:
🩷 Love at first sight for him
🩷 He begs a lot
🩷 Found family + Girl gang moments
🩷 He's a real life prince charming
🩷 8 year age gap (she's older)
🩷 Golden retriever/Black Cat
🩷 She's the jealous one

ALC AUDIOBOOK REVIEW:

Narrated By: @amyhallnarrates and @thealexknox

Swoon, cowboy! I loved being in Cherry Peak while listening to Chasing Home and following along with Johnny and Aurora as well as all of their friends and family. This is book 3 of the Cherry Peak series and unfortunately my first of the series, but I will be going back and listening to books 1 & 2, Strung Along & Catching Sparks immediately. Chasing Home by Hannah Cowan and Narrated in dual by Amy Hall and Alex Knox is a sweet small town romance with that edge of family drama that keeps you hooked from the beginning. Aurora (Rory) is in Cherry Peak looking for answers about her family and the dad she’s never met, while Johnny is on a mission to be there for her, if she likes it or not. What hooked me on this story was the found family aspects, Aurora came to Cherry Peak with a hard exterior and every wall up possible, not wanting to let anyone in and here for one reason, answers. Slowly Johnny broke those walls, he was persistent, caring, honest and up front with his feelings, before we knew it, Rory was letting more and more people in and her heart was softening for this small town. Alex Knox narrated Johnny and brought all the teddy bear emotions out of him, for being younger than Rory he was mature and there for the ones he loved, Alex was able to give us those soft moments with Rory, or sarcastic banter with his friends as well as bring out his dominant sexy side with every smirk and growl that you could feel through his voice. Amy Hall gave us the stern voice of Aurora making us feel the standoffish attitude she had towards almost everyone and then was able to voice her dropping those barriers and giving us emotions behind her doubts and fears as well as the happiness she was finding in Cherry Peak.

Thank Must Love Audio and Hannah Cowan for the opportunity to listen and review this audiobook!

”you’re my forever girl. my wish on a shooting star,” he says, the words spoken like a prayer. “i’ve been waiting for you.”₊ ⊹

my thoughts┊was not expecting this to be an absolute banger of a novel but i am so here for it! moreso a 4.5, but definitely the best out of this series by far!

i looove when the fmc’s are antisocial homebodies who are more introverted and reserved, because that’s me lol. reading about rory’s character was like looking in a damn mirror, daddy issues and all. i really connected with her in a much deeper way than i was anticipating, and i think that’s part of why i loved this so much; because i was rooting for her to have a happy ending sooo hard!

the other reason why i loved this was 1000% johnny. that man!!!! hands down one of the best mmc’s i’ve read about in a looooooong time. sweet ass southern boy who’s hardworking and respectful but knows what he wants and isn’t afraid to go after it! he was absolutely perfect for rory and seeing their bond form over the length of the book was so refreshing. this is a bit instalovey, which i usually hate, but the way it was spun was really sweet. the author did a good job of building up that unexplained connection they both had.

i enjoyed every last detail of this book. seeing rory find her place in cherry peak, forming friendships and relationships with the crew in this series was so special. so, so well done! loved seeing more of eliza and wade in this, too! eliza was such a good figure for rory and their dynamic always makes me giggle.

very happy with this third book, and i’m really intrigued by the upcoming one! bryce has been a staple in the group since book one so i’m definitely really curious to read more about her story and see how things go with daisy!

oh. my. god. you guys don’t understand how much i adore johnny and aurora. first of all, johnny was the cutest throughout catching sparks, him trying to be garrisons best friend was just so adorable and he makes me giggle so much🤭

be ready because this is a reverse age gap!!! mhmm🙂‍↕️ johnny did in fact pull a baddie, and her name is aurora bennett. i felt like her character was soo relatable at times, and it was so comforting seeing an introverted person having to face their fears and stepping out of their comfort zone.

no becuase the literal cuteness in this book had me smiling soooo big, johnny is the cutest ever, and the way this man loves rory makes me wish he was real bc i need a johnny in my life honestly. i could go on & on & on about him & them in general becuase this was everything🤍

hannah cowan never ever, and i mean ever disappoints with the smut. there is obviously so much more to the book but the spicy parts were definitely not disappointing. men usually make women beg in books but not johnny… he’s a gentleman, he’s the one dropping down to his knees and begging, yupp

honesty such a cute read, the small town aesthetic has made me feel like i’m there with them & i can’t waitttt for bryce & her book!!!
