All she wanted was to be worthy of love. What she got was an endless vicious cycle of self-hatred and despair. Until she finally found a way out.
Driven by the pursuit of perfection and the desire to truly be loved and accepted, Cynthia battled an eating disorder for thirteen long years. “Starving, Bingeing, Purging” is her raw, authentic story, told firsthand; a story not just of suffering, but of resilience, victory, and hope against all odds. In this book, Cynthia openly explores the complex issues of anorexia, bulimia, purging, and food addiction, and shares the intimate details of her journey to reclaim her life. She also includes 21 crucial recovery lessons to help those suffering from eating disorders heal and win their own battles.
Whether you have a loved one who struggles with eating disorders, you seek to avoid the pitfalls yourself, or you simply enjoy stories of overcomers, you’ll find Starving, Bingeing, Purging a nourishing, healing read.
This book hits home with the author's story of her life growing up, and how she ended up turning her broken and chaotic life into a life of healing and courage. There are so many instances in which one could relate, with her emotional ups and downs manifesting inward and as eating disorders. I felt every word as she told of her life being turned upside down and the abandonment of loved ones. Then it becomes a triumph as she digs her way out of the chaos through a series of practical steps and a journey of self discovery and healing. I was inspired by this book to really look at some of the ways my emotional hurts manifest in my relationship with food and life and with the people around me. I highly recommend this book. It is a pivotal manual for change that will have an impact.
