Amelia, a six-year-old girl, has an unusual best Paco, a grumpy, talking polar bear. During a game of hide-and-seek in the backyard, they discover a ladybug without any spots. They start a well-intentioned mission to "fix" their spot-free friend, causing chaos among the other garden creatures. After a near-disastrous turn of events, they come to understand what's been hiding in plain sight.
In this latest adventure from the Amelia & Paco series, your child will once again discover the joy of outdoor play and the power of imagination. Through the misadventures of two unlikely friends, they’ll learn that the best solutions often come from seeing the world through a different lens. Plus, it’s a great way to spark fun conversations with your kids about bugs, habitats, and all the cool things they can find right in their own backyard or neighborhood.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This is the second book I’ve bought from the Amelia & Paco series for my grandkids (3 & 5), and they absolutely love it! It’s such a sweet story, and it even got them asking all kinds of fun questions about bugs. It’s great to see how engaged they get with the characters and the adventure, plus it’s such a cute way to encourage outdoor play and curiosity. Highly recommend this series!
Amelia and Paco the polar bear are friends, but sometimes Paco doesn't feel like he's the right size for games like hide-and-seek. Then Amelia finds a ladybug with no spots. She tries to fix it, but eventually, she remembers that being unique isn't a flaw.
This is such a playful story with a balance of action and thoughtfulness. The message is subtle, but I love getting to see Paco gain self-confidence and Amelia realize that some of the things she says might be hurtful, inspiring her to take more care with her words.
First, a big thank you to the author, Stefanie Gamarra, the illustrator, Mark Bertran, and Goodreads for the opportunity to read a digital copy of this book, Spot Problems, after winning it in a giveaway. I thought this was a lovely little children's book that has a wonderful message and eye-catching illustrations. In this one, Paco and Amelia are on a mission to help a ladybug that is missing its spots. Along the way, they run into some issues to overcome. Through looking to help the ladybug, kids will have an opportunity to learn about other kinds of bugs. I think this one would be great for kids who love the outdoors, insects, animals, exploring/hiking, etc.
It is a delightful story about Amelia,a curious 6 years old and her grumpy polar bear friend Paco who discovered a spot-free ladybug while playing hide and seek. They set out to fix it, leading to humorous chaos in the garden. The book gently teaches children that being different is not a problem that needs to be solved. The best answers come from seeing things differently. With its playful tone and imaginative storytelling, it also sparks fun conversation about bugs, habitats and natural world. The book is perfect for read aloud and encourages curiosity, empathy and imaginative play.
This was a nice little story with imaginative illustrations that the kids enjoyed. There were some formatting issues on my Kindle, though, that were a little disappointing.
Spot Problems by Stefanie Gamarra with Mark Bertrán – This was an Amazon freebie. I think more kids should have polar bear best friends while they investigate bugs! Happy Reading!
