BLOOD AND BRAINS features two of Judith Sonnet's most extreme novellas, packed together for a double feature that will melt the flesh right off your skull! In BLOOD SUCK, meet a trio of vampiric rednecks, who use their special abilities to film the most over the top videos on the black market! In ZOMBIE VOMIT SHITSHOW, follow the populace of a small, Missouri town, where a zombie outbreak has been contained behind a chain-link fence! Twice the carnage . . . twice the violence . . . twice the terror! BLOOD AND BRAINS is a show you don't want to miss!
I absolutely loved the realistic and humanistic perspective Judith Sonnet creates in both stories especially with the duality of a kid growing up with zombies and some rednecks seeing it as a way to dispose of bodies or to get off. Beautifully written horror that starts off with painting the scene with blood and the characters consequences following with a more meatier (pun intended) and gorier result.

There are few books I've read more than once, but three of them are by Judith Sonnet, including this double feature with a sick cover by Don Noble (the third being Summer Never Ends).
Blood Suck and Zombie Vomit Shitshow are perfect examples of the extreme horror genre, with a gritty atmosphere, gore, ungodly violence that just keeps getting worse, and dark humor that's surely damned me to hell. This double feature checks all the extreme horror boxes.
So, if you want to find out how to entertain your redneck friends with a toothless chained up Zombie or you want to know how Roxy and her friends use their talents to make a little cash, check out Blood and Brains. What’s better than Zombies and Vampires for the spooky season?
Both of these were a lot of fun, for different reasons. The vampire one was a nice change of pace and once the vampires were revealed, the bottom really fell out and it became a bloodbath. The ending was quite amusing, as well.
The zombie one? I cackled with the line, "I could've sworn it was loaded." Ah, rednecks. But, this was a fun romp through what I can only assume was backwoods Alabama with a predictable ending to it that was happy in the best way.
The "southern" part of it was much more evident in the second story than the first. That might be because the setting lends itself to that.
Both were well-written, fun, and gory. Just Judith Sonnet doing what she does best.
BLOOD SUCK is a gripping, disturbing tale about three sisters who make snuff films and happen to be vampires.
Meanwhile, ZOMBIE VOMIT SHITSHOW is a tale about a small town that has a zombie problem, so they cage the zombies within the town behind a chain link fence.
All in all, I’m really glad these two novellas were put into one book together. They compliment each other perfectly.
Her inspiration is Ed Lee and it shows. Multiple dandy nuts to be had. I liked the vampire story better than the zombie one but both were entertaining.
This mashup of vampire and zombie horror was just what the doctor ordered. The audio production was fantastic. Judith’s descriptions are so fantastic that I was tingling from my head to my toes and wincing the entire time.
Creature Double Feature - Grindhouse Edition. Judith weaves two stories of fast paced, gore filled, monster fun, with engaging storylines to hold the reader on the edge. Always a good time!
