Oh my god this was SO FUN! Amazing characters, fast-paced plot, and SPICE!!! Genuinely felt like I was watching a movie - the writing is incredibly vivid and draws you in from the first chapter. Truly one of my favourite books this year!

Wow I don’t even know what to say. Once I finally had the time to pick this up I literally was unable to put it down.
This is a little outside my normal reading genres but the cover got me SO GOOD. And I was not disappointed. It’s long enough to give me satisfaction but wasn’t so long that I felt lost or like it was dragging.
In the first few pages I got a bit overwhelmed with the names and species but that didn’t continue and I settled into Quantrin easily despite normally glazing over in sci fi or fantasy!
I felt so much for Haez and Sonia the whole book. The world was so clear while I was reading it I felt like I was journeying alongside them in such a cool way. The world building was solid but not overly explained. There are a decent amount of alien creatures to learn along the way but they were all described well. I have to add Mephite’s to my top favorite hot fictional alien list. A literal handsome devil. Sign me up.
On one hand, I was so enthralled I wish it was longer because I want more!! But on the other, it cut out all unnecessary bullshit that usually turns me off of sci fi/fantasy so maybe I wouldn’t have enjoyed it as much? Idk it was like the “just right” porridge/chair/bed for Goldilocks for pretty much every aspect and I was Goldilocks.

I was hooked from the cover and description, I was so glad everything worked with my expectations. I enjoyed the noir element perfectly and thought the world and characters were everything that I was hoping for. Gael Romer has a great writing style and was able to create a unique concept and story. I enjoyed the characters overall and thought they worked well in the story-line. It left me wanting to read more and was glad it had that element that I was looking for.

This was such a fun space romance for any sci-fi lover! If you are a fan of monster romances or Star Wars, this will be perfect for you. Bonus points to this author for being local to me!

I had the opportunity to read this book in advance of publication and I had a BLAST!! The MCs have really fun banter and I laughed out loud multiple times! (Also the spice is so GOOD you’ll be discovering things about yourself!!)
