Triple Duty Bodyguards

Rate this book
One celebrity diva in trouble. Three overprotective bodyguards determined to keep her safe.

As one of the world’s most hated celebrities, I’m used to unwanted attention. But when I wake up one morning to find a mysterious man has broken into my house, I know I need security, fast. Enter “The Angels”, my three ex-military bodyguards:

Glen, the Scottish sweetheart with the scarred face and gentle hands.
Kenta, the long-haired soldier with the tattooed skin and secretive smile.
And Matt, the blue-eyed, bad-tempered leader haunted by his military past.

Having three gorgeous men guarding me 24-7 sounds like a dream come true, but it turns out to be a nightmare. They’re always here, watching me. Caring for me. Protecting me. They tell me to ignore them and go about my business, but I can’t even think with them so close. The spark is too intense.

On top of that, we don’t get on. They think I’m a demanding diva. I think they’re overdramatic. When a trip to America sends the guys’ protective instincts into overdrive, the sizzling tension between us finally breaks, and I learn my bodyguards’ butterfly-inducing secret: they want me.

All three of them.

Meanwhile, my stalker’s behaviour is becoming more and more alarming. He’s photographing me through windows and following me in the shadows. With the premiere for my next movie coming up, will my three bodyguards be able to keep me safe from his clutches? Or will my terrifying pursuer finally get his deadly way?

I’m honestly not sure why I even bothered finishing this… once I got to the end, I realized that I wished I DNFd it at around the 30-40% when I realized I wasn’t enjoying it… but oh well - I somehow made it to the end.

I really didn’t like the main girl character. She was supposed to be this famous diva but also a down to earth sweetheart and I got so many mixed signals from her throughout the entire story and couldn’t figure her out and I just did not click with her whatsoever. I didn’t like a lot of the decisions she made, I didn’t like the way she spoke to people and I didn’t like the way she acted in general. —- As for the guys, I kinda liked them - but not enough to save the story. They were all dealing with their own sort of trauma and I’m always a sucker for a damaged character… but they were painted as these top notch bodyguards and then they kept making such stupid/rookie moves and acted like these broken little puppies who needed coddling - it was very contradicting to see them act the way they did when they were supposed to be this super elite security team.

And even though I knew this was RH and I know that these books are basically just sex with a small amount of plot… it felt like this book was just a porno someone dreamed up one night and decided to make it into a book and didn’t really care to make it feel realistic… there were zero conversations between any of them about the dynamics of what they were getting themselves into and it all just felt messy, convenient and unrealistic.

Anyway - there was just so much about this story that wasn’t working for me so I don’t even know why I’m trying to bother explaining myself - basically… I wouldn’t personally recommend this one. I’m sure there are better RH bodyguard romances out there if you’re in this sort of mood.

Omfgggg I literally read it in one sitting and I LOVED IT!

The drama, the tension, the sweetness was all there.

Not only did it have a cute relationship development between fmc and three gorgeous men, but it had a mystery in it.

Briar has a stalker so she hires 3 ex SAS soldiers to protect her. We get all of their povs but we also get to read the stalker’s pov too which I found to be so original. I’ve never read a book like that.

Her sexy cute bodyguards are everythingggggg!
I loved every single one of them and can’t pick a favourite.
They deal with military ptsd as well. And they’re dreamy😩

This book delivered!!!

The bonus content was cute as shit too.

I need myself these 3 wonderful men asap.
I’m a changed woman after this book.

this started off pretty interesting but then it ended up being 600 pages on my kindle which should be illegal! idgaf what’s going on, no romance book should be over 320 pages and these authors must be stopped.

PLEASE this book was so unserious 😭 to the point that I'm actually impressed with the unintentional comedy.. because this book made me cackle, but I'm not sure it was a good thing??
👁️👄👁️

the story follows this mega actress Briar, who got herself a very creepy stalker... so she hired three ex-military bodyguards; Matt, Glen and Kenta to protect her. now let me tell you, I understand that stalker problems can be very dangerous. but the way these three dudes were protecting her, you'd think she was a princess, next in line, and was targeted by an enemy country, who got snipers and assassins plastered all over the world ready to off her any second. they be doing THE most and at first it was charming but as time went on... everything just turned comical 🧍🏻‍♀️

the why choose aspect in the story is somehow what made the story interesting but also what made it weird. not once in the book did Briar ever question herself about the fact that she was banging three dudes and falling in love with them 😭 she was just like YEP nothing to see here! 💃🏻 I mean good for her but also it took the realness out of an already unrealistic story. I was expecting some taboo shit but everyone acted like everything was completely normal. even at the end the biggest concern that she (and the three dudes, really) brought up was that their relationship was gonna be difficult because she was famous and they were gonna have to do a lot of public shit. no mention at all of the fact that... idk........she was gonna date three dudes.

and the bodyguards..... i guess they were likable. my favorite was matt bc of obvious reasons. but also he could get very whiny ngl. there was an opportunity to create an impactful story about ptsd but the writing kinda ruined it. the way the book described him having flashbacks was like he was in a that's so raven episode

no one:

matt:

this book was wild because I was expecting a taboo why choose romcom but somewhere in the middle I got criminal minds instead 🧍🏻‍♀️ with the psycho's point of view and everything. I still can't decide if it was good or not bc I wanted smut and I got ??? idk what I got

and them falling in love with each other also came outta nowhere? like when did these emotional developments happen? did I get lost somewhere and miss the train? hold awn 😩✋ but at this point idgaf anymore and was just laughing the whole time especially at the part where Briar needed surgery but she didn't want to bc she wanted to be beautiful like Glen and delivered a whole ass speech that I guess was supposed to be emotional but they were having this convo in front of the surgeon and idk I was too busy laughing my ass off bc girlie shut the fuck up and get the damn surgery

the surgeon: 🧍🏻‍♀️

but yeah idk?? 😭😭 I guess this book would be perfect for anyone hoping for a why-choose book set in an unrealistic, very accepting (but only of poly relationships) world. but it was too unserious for me so like... extra star for the laughs 😩✋

also sorry this made your slump worse essie BLAME THE PEOPLE 😭

idk if it’s my reading slump or the book.. but this just didn’t hit for me.

the plot was so boring. the characters had 0 personality. and the spice didn’t even feel that natural to me? 😭 i’m not gonna lie, i forgot everything as soon as i put this down.

i love me some lily gold but this is my least favorite so far. 3

Lily Gold can do no wrong.

Briar might be my favorite FMC in any book ever. This wasn’t a sad book/had a sad ending, but I’m tearing up thinking of how powerful she was. 🥺

I actually refrained myself from going on and on about how much I absolutely loved Briar. Fuck. She was truly an icon. You want to read about a strong and vulnerable woman who never lets anyone walk over her, Briar is your person.

She took no ones shit. NO. ONES. Even Matt’s (MMC) when he was being a douche canoe. Her witty replies and fast snap backs made me laugh in delight and gasp in awe. She was assertive, strong, loving and caring, funny, badass, and absolute boss and treasure. She saved herself!! When the guys were being stupid, she’d call them out on it. And when she made a mistake or did something wrong she admitted it and apologized. Seriously, I aspire to be like Briar. She also did these little acts of kindness that were sprinkled in throughout the book that weren’t meant to have attention drawn to them (and didn’t) like always bringing a cup of coffee to the men in the morning without them asking. Ugh. My heart. 🖤❤️

Now the guys. They were good, particularly Kenta and Glen. I liked Matt a little less because he was the grumpy one, always thought he knew who Briar was without really knowing. But every harem has a Matt. At least I feel like he was redeemed. What I really enjoyed about these men besides how much they loved going down on the FMC with no complaint, acting like she was an absolute snacc and they were starving (daily) was their insecurities. These were big tough alpha men. And yet they were flawed, insecure and emotional. They hugged, touched and comforted each other. There was even a hand holding scene between two of the men when one was going through a flashback. Fuck. The nontoxic masculinity was THE BEST. I wish more men would be comfortable with their friends being vulnerable and open. Many can use a hug.

This had a pretty heavy plot, y’all. Wasn’t expecting it after the few novels of Lily Gold’s I’ve read before. This almost read like a romantic suspense in parts. It does go HAM. Be prepared for some OTT scenes but they’re so enthralling you won’t mind at all. You’ll just wanna keep reading what happens next.
Does anyone else get so excited while reading your eyes skip/skim sentences and you have to go back and reread? All because you were anxious to find out what happens next? No? Just me? Okay.

I highly recommend this book if you want a thoroughly entertaining and romantic book with some intrigue thrown in. It is a RH (no MM) with ultra spicy scenes. I swear sapphic authors can write the spice 🥵🥵.

I accidentally deleted my kindle app which made me lose my highlights and at first I was sad but then I realized it means I get to reread this 🎉🎉

Two Warnings!
#1: This story is about a stalker who will do anything to get to the object of his fixation. Violence is depicted in various ways including torture, stabbing, bombings, assault, attempted sexual assault, and other actions. Objectification of the female body is also discussed in this story. If you have any triggers, please read this book with caution.
#2: Once you start reading this book you won’t be able to put it down until the end! So make sure you have plenty of time to devote to this story so you won’t end up reading until the wee hours of the morning and having a book hangover like I did!

Ok, on to the review: What an amazing book! I know that people often think of romance novels as being “porn for women” or not worthy of serious praise, but this book blows all of those stereotypes out of the water.
While romance is the heart of this story, you also get what felt like a real look into the world of being a celebrity, of being a soldier dealing with ptsd, of a stalker with obvious mental health issues, and the challenge of not adhering to the typical social norms of society. Each of the male characters are so well developed that you could feel Matt’s guilt as he struggled with PTSD and flashbacks from serving in the military, the emotional discomfort Glenn had because of visible scars on his face, and Kenta’s need to help and protect the people he loves. The main female character, Briar, is depicted as an ice cold bitch, but it quickly becomes obvious that it’s a coping mechanism to protect herself from the judgment, pressure and the many unpleasant aspects of life as a celebrity.
The author did an amazing job of making these characters multifaceted, complex and very interesting. The emotional growth of each character feels genuine, and definitely had me laughing, crying, sympathizing and giving me all the feels.
The story is fast paced, well researched and entertaining. The world building is so detailed that it is easy to fully immerse yourself in the story. Sexy scenes are included throughout the story but only add to the growing relationship between the characters, and occur in various combinations of M/F, MFM, or MFMM. No swords cross in the story.
This is a great drama/action/romance that I think most authors hope to write at some point in their career. Lily Gold is quickly becoming one of my favorite reverse harem authors. I just can’t say enough good things about this book!

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

i forgot that i read this earlier this month which is impressive because i kinda hated it.

i'm sad because i want to love all of lily gold's books (and the first book i read by her was so good) but i found the main character in this one combative and irritating and the bodyguards were REALLY bad at their jobs?? just a match made in hell.

also it was way too long and i ended up skipping through chapters at the end to avoid the cringe. boooo tomato tomato

This was fun! If you're looking for an easy and steamy read and don't mind reverse harem, then I recommend you read this.

I generally like my romances, including reverse harem, to have a bit more slow burn - but since this is a standalone and there are three love interests... you can probably imagine that they get down to business pretty quickly 😆

I also forgot that I really dislike stalker plot-lines so I probably didn't choose the best Lily Gold book for me to start with 😅 I still enjoyed it though and it was definitely a fun read!

I’m literally in love with these new covers!! I mean, look at them😍 I’m going to binge all of these books!

I think this book was enjoyable, I’ll always love bodyguard romance and this one was bodyguard x3😳

I would definitely check out the TW/CW before reading because it has some heavy things in the book. from stalking, kidnapping, stabbing, SA, torture, ptsd, panic attacks, etc.

Again, this Lily Gold book didn’t work for me… I think that she’s at her best when she does lighter, funnier books - like Faking With Benefits or Nanny for the Neighbors. But maybe it’s just that’s what I prefer from her so… maybe give this one a shot if you want to try a contemporary reverse harem.

The heroine is not a “nice girl” - but she’s a good person, deep down. She’s been abused by the media for years and uses her role as “mean girl” to her advantage by bringing notice to plights she cares about. However she comes across as petty, mean, cruel, callous, etc. etc. She’s also being stalked and has panic attacks, providing more than one instance where she reacts with a reasonable amount of trauma or fear and just comes across like a bitch.

This book just wasn’t enjoyable to me because I spent so much of it being uncomfortable. With the heroine, the guys, the plot, everything. I didn’t connect to anyone or anything.

CW: stalking, sexual assault (stalker ~finishes~ on her while she sleeps), violence, bomb threat

I was so excited for this book and I am really sad to say it was low-key a disappointment. I feel like the plot was all over the place and one of the guys barely got any pov’s so I feel that we didn’t really get to know him like the others.

I love Lily Gold books but this just wasn’t for me!

So good!
It’s not my favorite from this author, but I still loved it.
My only gripe is that I feel like we didn’t get much time with them all together.
Their relationship buildup and the chaos going on around them was fantastic and totally entertaining. But once the chaos from her stalker was handled I feel like we didn’t get very much time with them all actually together in their relationship.
I just wanted more.

I loved the characters and what they brought to the story though.
This author really knows how to emotionally torment me and then make the characters kiss it all better again. It’s very satisfying.

The plot was interesting and different from her other books. We actually get a few chapters from ‘X’, Briar’s stalker, and it added to the creep factor for sure.

I really enjoyed reading this. I’m a bit sad it’s over and I’ve read all her other books she’s got out. Now I have to wait for a new release. What the hell am I gonna read in the meantime? 😒

I guess I’ll just have to wait and see what she puts out next, and I promise you, I definitely will be watching for it.

DNF @. 30% - heroine unlikable. I was hoping she was sweet and misunderstood… and she is a little misunderstood, but she’s not sweet. I was put off because I was convinced that she was early 20s, tops. Turns out, she’s actually 30 🙄 which made her behavior even worse. I didn’t like how she was the sexual aggressor with all the men… and it made me feel icky that she was so casual about it… I also didn’t like that she was sexually intimate with one and then coming on to the other without them knowing about it. I prefer that everyone understand the situation first in an RH… not separate relationships developing without the others knowledge. It just makes the h seem like a sneaky ho. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Meh.

i LOVEEE a bodyguard trope and three of them was three times the fun.

briar is a famous actress who hires a team of three bodyguards after her stalker escalates to breaking into her home. this book follows the guys’ relationships with briar and their work protecting her while the situation with her stalker comes to a head.

per usual for lily’s books, i loved all three heroes so much. we get the stalker’s pov which was scary and dark but i couldn’t put the book down. i love briar and she was super funny and witty but she did piss me off a few times.

Silly and easy and exactly what I needed this week. I'm really enjoying all of Lily Gold's books! They all follow kind of the same premise - girl falls in love with three guys, who have shared female partners in the past. This one was a romantic suspense where a celebrity is being guarded by three former military men. I enjoyed this a lot! I liked that it was a light read that also talked about sexual violence and boundary violations.
