I really like this author! This book started out a little slow but was still interesting. It’s about a down and out private investigator hired to find a billionaire’s son. The pace gradually increases as the book progresses. There are many suspects and a lot of truths unravel. I enjoyed the book.
I thought it would be interesting, but the writing is childish and has way too much in terms of minute details that don't serve any purpose. Hyperbole is overwrought and endlessly pointless, it seems to have the characters reflect upon events that happened when they were children, but now, in their 20's they suddenly remember everything with golden clarity and can now make informed decisions on things that no longer matter. AS a personal bit of annoyance, I grew up in South Florida, and no one, I repeat NO ONE ever refers to it as the mainland. Florida is a peninsula, therefore it's all "mainland" even the oddities like Belle Island, Sanibel Island and Marcos. If you want to go the "the mainland" you have to go to Alabama or Georgia, cause you're not going to find a mainland in Florida. It's a state. I also detest fiction that tries to separate good from bad by financial status only. Trust me, there's plenty of both traits in both economic disparities. The "rich side" vs. the "poor side" is a classic sign of an underdeveloped sense of worth or value. As a clinical psychologist, board certified, there is absolutely no validity in psychic powers or tarot cards, ouija boards, knuckle bones sharks teeth or dice tosses. Our bodies are composed of matter and matter, as all physical elements, resonates. That's known as the energetic field, but you can't "read" someone's energy anymore than you can read sheep's entrails to know or foretell a future. This author has read too many fairy tales if her belief system wants to build a comprehensive character on psychic abilities, which, unless I missed it, even the character herself admits is a bit of a fraud. Anything to make a buck off the gullible tourists. Finally, I had to stop reading because the infidelity was driving me wild. I suppose cheating has and always will be a part of human interaction, but I don't have to read about it or have it put forth as something to be admired in a character. The private eye concept is a joke. That's about all I can say regarding that bit of nonsense. In sum, this is not a book I would recommend. I did not finish it because I found it offensive, trite and meaningless.
I really enjoyed this crime thriller. It was a little slow to start and I wasn't quite sure I was going to like it, but the pace picked up and I was hooked into the story. So many twists and turns! It was fun to read a story I couldn't easily identify the culprit. I need to read the story again because I was actually caught flatfooted by the killer. I want to see what I missed. The story was neatly wound up at the end, which doesn't happen all the time with convoluted plotlines. I do want to read it again, even knowing the ending, something I don't usually do. Well done!
Started fast and never let up. Kept me up to finish at 4:40am. I seriously couldn’t put the book down till I found out “who dunnit”. Some serious plot twists but all somehow believable. I highly recommend this book.
Loved this book! Couldn’t put it down. Every time I thought I knew who the killer was, there was another twist to the story. Never suspected the person who actually did the killing. Great read!
I’m not sure why it has negative reviews. I enjoyed it and liked the majority of the characters. Does need some editing since there are numerous typos. Other than that, fast paced, lots of twists, although you see most of them coming. Definitely worth a read.
The author was leading in her writing. While the plot had its moments of intrigue, the author led you to the villain. I wish she had been less direct and gave me the opportunity to figure it out on my own.
I really enjoy mysteries thrillers whatever this book did a really good job. I’m constantly was surprised that who did what to who and you just didn’t know it was gonna happen next.
This book was interesting. Good characters that you can actually like. A few surprises at the end. However, I feel this book was more for young adults. Some silliness that I would associate with teenagers, reading and enjoying.
