Beth Kingston has a problem. She’d frigid. After Cade Martin, her boyfriend of two years walks out during a bad sexual encounter Beth knows she needs to change, not just to save her relationship with Cade, but for the sake of any future boyfriends she might have. Her strict upbringing has left her sexually repressed and led to the downfall of many of her relationships, but losing Cade has hurt more than the others.

In an attempt to erase the brainwashing instilled by her mother so many years ago, Beth books a weekend at a sexual therapy retreat. Once there, she fights with second thoughts, when she must either succumb to the orders of her ‘Master’ or leave. She doesn’t want to walk away, knowing nothing has changed, but playing the submissive in a weekend of BDSM training isn’t exactly what she had in mind.

Previously released as a Ginny Michaels title, this story contains graphic sex and subject matter that some readers may find objectionable including but not limited to bondage, submission, oral and anal sex.

Born in ‘small town’ Illinois, I grew up in the average middle class family. Surrounded by good friends, rode bikes with my friends, played with Barbie dolls and danced in my bedroom to the radio. While life wasn’t always peaches and cream, I don’t have any damaging childhood scars and consider myself lucky to have such a loving family. Once I turned 18, for reasons more complicated than I want to explain, I moved away from my comfort zone of flat land and cornfields half way across the country to the East coast. Settling in a suburban town in New Jersey I, dealt with culture shock while I continued to live with family and attended college for art.

Now, over 20 years later, I still live in New Jersey with my loving husband of 17 years, my two awesome children, one affectionate, sensitive dog who thinks she’s human, one noisy, very old cat and at last count three fish.

I’ve always loved all forms of art and have been creative since I was old enough to hold a crayon (by proof of drawings that up until a few short years ago hung on my aunt’s bedroom wall). I’ve dabbled in everything from watercolors, oils and acrylics to modeling clay, batiking and charcoal pencil drawings.

Eight years ago I was watching an episode of Deadliest Catch when a storyline began forming in my head. After walking around with it spinning circles in my brain for several days, my husband told me to write it down and it would go away. 75k later and I had my first (very rough draft) of what would one day become my novel ‘Northern Lights’.

Suddenly I found myself with a new artistic opportunity to follow. Eight years and 12 stories later the only thing I love more than seeing a completed work come to fruition, is to hear about how people love to read my stories. Originally released as BEYOND BOUNDARIES under the pseudonym Michelle Cary, this is a stand-alone erotic romance novel.

Beth has been belittled her entire life, mostly from her parents, about her size. This has inhibited her when it comes to sex. When her boyfriend of two years walks out after a fight about where and when, she makes a decision to attend a sexual therapy retreat. Adam agrees to do anything that will make her happy because he loves her so much. Both, thinking they will be attending couples counseling are surprised to find that the retreat has them paired off and Adam must act the part of her Master. Beth must submit or they will be asked to leave the retreat.

This book contains a lot of BDSM role-playing and is very sensitively presented. To say it is erotic I hated FSOG because, in those books, kinksters are portrayed as deviants in need of psychological counseling and constant supervision. Ms. Cary did not share that stand. Instead, she lets it be known that each couple in the lifestyle ultimately makes their own rules for what works for them. Communication is the key and this is demonstrated repeatedly, especially when Adam breaks the character prescribed by the rules of the retreat to make sure that HIS submissive is okay in their play space.

I loved both Beth and Adam. Adam is the perfect BBF. He is sweet, caring, loving, strong, and alpha through and through. He makes a wonderful Dom with the little crash course he received the day before Beth arrived at the retreat. I get Beth. She’s scared to the core that nobody could love her exactly as she is so she tries to hide her true self. First, at home, she hides behind rules of sex belonging only in the bed and with the lights off. At the retreat, as her physical barriers are torn down, her mind makes the trips necessary to come to terms and tear down the mental walls as well.

I look forward to more great reading from the “pen” of Ms. Stapleton.

Good relationships take a lot of work to keep them going. In this story we learn how Sara and Adam make a last attempt to improve things or they will end up going their separate ways. Sara agrees to attend a weekend training session/couples retreat with Adam in an effort to save their relationship. But does she understand what is in store for her?

Sara - she has dated Adam for two years but has serious issues about her body image and weight that have plagued her for years. Sex is always in the bedroom, under the covers, lights out.

Adam - he is loving and understanding but he would like Sara to have a better view of herself sexually and to be more adventurous in the bedroom. This weekend is do or die for their future.

Sara is a little surprised to learn that for the next three days she must do as she is told. She cannot refuse to perform and act (although things will stop if she uses her safe word) or she will be asked to leave the premises immediately. Adam will be her “Master” and she is to follow all of his instructions. She’s apprehensive, but she agrees to the terms. Everything is arranged for Sara including her wardrobe (or lack of it) in that she’s given lingerie to wear, which forces her to really look at her body and understand that she can be and is desirable to men, especially Adam.

Sara meets Karen, who is there with her boyfriend. It is Karen’s second time at the place and she helps to put Sara’s mind at ease and gives her some support. Sara experiences things she has never done and at first she feels guilty about enjoying them. But she’s coming around.

It’s nice to read a spicy story about a couple who know they have to work for love even if it means going outside their comfort zone.

I was gifted a complimentary copy of this book in the Anthology Club Alpha in exchange for an honest review.

Sara Beth is determined to save her relationship with her boyfriend of two years Adam. Having issues with her self image because of her weight and strict religious upbringing she has several hangups where her sexuality is involved. Convincing herself that she needed to change was only the first step. The second is booking herself and Adam to a weekend at a sexual therapy retreat. She is shocked at what that will actually entail.

Every step is a journey in discovery who she is as a woman. Proving to herself that her mothers hateful words don't define her. That she can give Adam and more importantly herself what they both need to fulfill their sexual relationship.

I loved Adam from the start. Even though he had a hard role to play there was always such a sweet and caring side to him as well. I liked that Sara overcame a lot of her hangups and went thru with the whole weekend.

Breaking Boundaries was a very enjoyable quick, sensual read. The main characters are Beth and Adam who have been together for two years. They are perfect together with one exception, Beth's poor self-image and sexual inhibitions are jeopardizing their intimate relationship.

Beth signs them up for a weekend sexual therapy retreat in an attempt to better herself and save their relationship. Over the course of the weekend, with Adam acting as her training Master, Beth begins to grow and let go of her self-doubt and inhibitions. We also get to see what a sweet and loving man Adam is.

This was a wonderful story about two people who loved each other deeply. Because of their love they were willing to step outside their comfort zone and work hard to overcome any personal issues, thus finding personal growth which improved their relationship.

I really liked this story. It is about a big girl who want to open up sexually to her boyfriend . Based on how she grew up she thinks no guy, let alone a very hot one, could ever love her for who she is b/c of her weight. Beth was a great character for me. she comes out of her shell on I hope they live happily ever after. Adam was great too b/c you feel how much he loves her and how much he wants to help her open up. Just wish book was longer to find out what happens next with them. I need a book 2!!!
