This book was recommended by somwonw i have never met before. She answered the phone when I was reaching out for help dueing this frightening and uncertain time we are living in. I told her how powerless and afraid I felt, and she recommended this author and said she loves all of her works and was looking forward to learning more about the radical Jesus. How we can all overturn some tables. How we can all learn about power structures. this was a timely read for me. I am beyond grateful for the suggestion and for my friend who read it along with me, with whome I got to share thoughts and ideas each day!

I read this book with a friend this Lenten season. Wow. what a great starting point for discussion and into action. there were some difficult and uncomfortable discussions about unhealthy power. challenging my beliefs and welcoming other people's perspectives into my life.
it was especially poignant with what is going on in this world. I find comfort in radical Jesus and loving Jesus.

If you're a volunteer for any kind of organization or a leader in an organization, this is a great book to read. It gives you a lot to think about and work on in your life. It would also be a wonderful resource for a retreat for a variety of groups including businesses. Although it has a Christian overview, that is not necessarily the prime focus of the book. Highly recommend for many.

This is not your traditional Lenten study book. It really angered and upset several members of our group. Two wouldn’t finish it and we finished it early to calm the others down. For those of us of a ‘certain’ age who lived through the ‘60s’ and Civil Rights, parts are a rehash of where we had been. Parts are well taken, but overall the author comes across as an angry, unforgiving woman. She seldom expresses a love for Jesus or acknowledging Him as her Lord and Savior. On the plus side, as one of our group said, we did have long and interesting discussions.

This is a wonderful Lenten devotional that challenges us to see the world with new eyes and to try to make it a better place.
