Although Haunted Ireland is designed for children, adults will also find themselves drawn into the thrills of these notorious ghost stories. This enchanting collection is ideal for anyone who revels in the excitement of ghostly tales while discovering Ireland’s rich, haunted past.

As with all story collections, I enjoyed some of them more than others.

I met the author and illustrator in Dublin Literature Festival. had great fun writing an impromptu horror story while sketching the story whimsically. They are both such great artists. The book is well crafted and I appreciate each story and the efforts this would have taken.

This is genuinely one of the nicest and prettiest books I’ve ever read. The stories from each county are clearly well thought out and well researched. The book tells tales of the paranormal and supernatural from all over Ireland. The only thing about this book that I didn’t love was the story chosen for Louth. I just think there are so many other good ghost stories that could have been used, especially for King John’s Castle but either way.

One of my favorites was definitely the story for Wicklow “The Legend of Lover’s Leap”. I think the one of the reasons I enjoyed this book so much was because it was close to my own heart. It’s a book completely centered around my home and I love that because it makes the people in these stories feel so much more real because I can visit the places where these events took place and see remnants of them, like Lisheen House and the gibbet in Carlow Shopping Centre. I have always believed deeply in the supernatural and my dad used to ghost-hunting as a hobby.

Ireland is a folklore rich country with fairies at each corner and enough ghost stories to last a millennium - but as a nation, have we forgotten our folklore?
This book was incredibly enlightening to the gods, haunts, and ghosts all around our mythical isle.
