The Quiet Limit #2

The Silent Spaces

Rate this book
Her whole life, Lai was told that she’d only live to see eighteen years. In the seemingly utopian community she grew up in, scientists calculated residents’ life expectancies at birth, and that number defined their place within their society. When Lai was given the number eighteen in a community where numbers over one hundred are the norm, her life was considered all but meaningless. As her eighteenth birthday approached, Lai became determined not to be defined by her death date, and then everything started to unravel.

After escaping the only life she’d ever known, in a community that she had been taught was all that was left of humanity, Lai is now faced with something even more the truth. The Silent Spaces picks up where The Quiet Limit left off, following Lai as she navigates past losses, present confusion, and future uncertainties. She must find a way to survive, all while refusing to give up on those she left behind.

4.5 stars - Ah! What a great continuation in “The Quiet Limit” series! I had no idea where the story would go when I finished book one, but I can tell you “The Silent Spaces” hooked me right from the start and kept me guessing the whole way through. It was a heart-pounding adventure from start to finish, and I can’t wait to see how the story will wrap up in book three!

Thank you @ for the ARC of The Silent Spaces. I will without a doubt be buying myself a physical copy when it is released!

Going to literally sob about this as soon as I get a chance to read it❤️

Oh my god today is the day! Happy pub day!

How do I convince you to read the Quiet Limit so you then read the second in the trilogy The Silent Spaces?

Is it the crazy world that Lai finds herself in?

The horrifying people in this truly dystopian society?

What about finally finding some respite for our main character only to have it ripped from her in a truly devastating way?

You will laugh and then cry and become extremely overly attached to a cat who is honestly the main characters emotional support kitty.🐱

(He has my entire heart btw— Trista, I’m going to need merch lol).

The Silent Spaces is an absolutely wonderful read set right after the events of The Quiet Limit. Lai is thrust into the disorienting and downright horrifying world where she meets many new faces and tries her best to save her family and friends.

As far as sequels go The Silent Spaces surpasses everything I thought. Full of action, adventure, mental health rep, and overflowing with gorgeous writing and likeable characters this book I feel is stronger than the first (which is crazy, because the Quiet Limit is SO GOOD) and Trista has really crafted an expertly woven tale where we are rooting for our main character, despairing for her circumstances, and being fed a little bit of the truth with every turning page.

This one brought us to the outside world and I had so many questions about what we would find there. The story was rapid and left me in love with a cat and also feeling desperate for Lai.

Her longing for answers and freedom and her love for her family are felt in every choice she makes.

I cannot wait to see how this trilogy ends!

Thank you for the arc 🤍🤍🤍

Ps. If you haven’t been sold on this one yet, let me tell you, this has hunger game vibes. Support an indie author and pick it up.

4.5 ⭐️ just like the Quiet Limit , once I started I couldn’t put the Silent Spaces down. I loved finding out what was happening in Lai’s life now. I can’t wait for the 3rd book to find out how Lai’s story ends!

Thanks so much for the ARC of Silent Spaces, I’m counting down the days until I can buy the physical copy!

“The best revenge is to not be like your enemy.”

What a great sequel!! I loved the first book and couldn’t wait to dive into this one. The direction was not what I expected at all and at first, this threw me off a little, but I was quickly acclimated and enthralled.

This has a lot of Hunger Games vibes with its own twists and unique story.

There was a lot explained from The Quiet Limit, but also so many new things to uncover in the next book! I’m so excited to see where the series goes next.

Thank you to the author for giving me an ARC of this book for free. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

First off I want to say how honoured I am to have been chosen for this ARC, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Wow I’m so amazed with how the second book turned out! It was informative, action packed, adrenaline boosting and played with my emotions. The chapters in my own opinion were a little long, I’m just more of a fan of shorter chapters, so that’s why I dropped half a star. Tith has my entire heart, such a cute little cat.

This was definitely my favourite out of the 2 books, Trista out done herself once again and if you haven’t picked up the first to the series, The Quiet Place, do it now!! The Silent Spaces come out by the end of this month and you won’t want to miss it!

If you love dystopian genre, you’re definitely in the right place! I recommend :)

Such a fun follow-up to The Quiet Limit. The pacing was excellent. Always something just around the corner as far as surprises/twists/revelations/action.

Great cast of characters. Great additions.

Also, THANK YOU, TRISTA, FOR NOT CREATING A LOVE TRIANGLE. I hate that trope, and it is so common in YA trilogies (this is going to be a trilogy, right? I gotta know what happens) and it was such a breath of fresh air to not have a love triangle around, detracting from the plot.

Lai's character was full of such spirit throughout the book. Loved her dedication to her cause and her growing awareness of others. She was still impulsive as can be, but I think that was in character for her.

Fun, fast read!

Like the 1st, it was squeaky clean.

What an amazing sequel to one of my favorite books this year! Thank you so much Trista for the arc I can't wait to get my hands on a physical copy for my shelf.

I really loved how she continued on in this story. I thought the time jump was super smart! The plot is amazing and I flew through this book so fast once I actually got the chance to pick it up.

The characters are so relatable and complex. The characters are dealing with so many emotions and it's so easy to connect and fall in love with them and their journey.

The plot is unique and it's a super fast paced book. I can't wait to see what the third one has in store for us!

This series has everything you want in a dystopian story!! We were left wondering after the first book and this one started right where it left off.
I loved learning about the outside world, I couldn’t get enough. There was mystery and intrigue all throughout this book, as well as some jaw dropping moments I didn’t see coming.
Our main character Lai, has been through so much and you can really feel her emotions throughout.
Some new characters were introduced and I loved them all!! Especially Tith. An interesting orange cat that brought in some comedic relief through some suspenseful scenes!!
Trista’s writing is amazing! She definitely knows what she’s doing when organizing characters thoughts and actions. The story flowed off the pages!!
The last 150 pages were so action packed, I couldn’t put the book down.
An amazing sequel! I can’t wait to see what a 3rd book will have in store for this series and these characters I’m fully invested in.

Thank you so much for letting me read the ARC! I can’t wait to buy a physical copy for my shelf!!

This was such an action-packed sequel! I loved getting to know some new characters, while learning more about the world that Lai lives in. There were some great found family dynamics in this one, and it even had me tearing up at parts. This was such a page-turner, and I’m so excited to see where this story goes. If you haven’t started this series yet with The Quiet Limit, I highly recommend!

Thank you so much Trista Lundquist for allowing me to be part of your ARC team, it was an honour.

After the intense ending of book one, I truly had no idea what direction the story would take—but I was hooked from page one. Trista nails relatable characters and high-stakes storytelling—I love that she’s not afraid to make bold choices. A crazy enjoyable read, and I can’t wait for book three!

Dystopian is not my usual genre, and in saying that, I absolutely LOVED The Silent Spaces. This one has a slightly darker feel than the first, in my opinion, but it's what I loved about the story. This was everything and more you'd want from a sequel! I need more Trista... 👀

Silent Spaces is a perfect follow up to The Quiet Limit!!!!

Silent Spaces is action packed and hooked me in right from the start. I loved loved loved the first book and i’m so glad this sequel exceeded my expectations. I laughed, i cried (multiple times before i even hit 100 pages) and stayed up late finishing the book. So many questions answered but so many new ones!!!

If you enjoyed the first book, you will love this one! It was a quick and easy read, but could just be because i loved it so much 🤪🩷 i couldn’t put it down!

I’m so excited for the next book in this trilogy, and whatever Trista Lundquist writes next.

Thank you so much Trista for this ARC, looking forward to the release so I can add it to my bookshelf!

Also Tith has my heart

This book was amazing!!! I went in with pretty high expectations after LOVING the first one. And Trista DID NOT DISAPPOINT.

If anything, I liked this one more than the first one! Which shocked me because often sequels just can’t live up to the hype.

I really hope there is a third book coming because I can’t get enough of these characters and learning more about this dystopian world.

5/5! Highly recommend!!!

I feel so lucky to have gotten this ARC. My first one and hopefully it wont be my last.

Contracts. Obligations. Unknown. Lies. Family. Shock.

I could not put this down! I loved The Silent Spaces.

The new characters we were introduced to were a welcome addition, and I also loved how we got to see some old characters from The Quiet Limit.

Lai’s inner turmoil and quest for meaning were written with such honesty that it would be impossible not to be drawn into the world Trista created.

I can’t wait to find out what happens next!

If you like Divergent, the Matched series or the Truman show this series is for you! What an epic ending to the Quiet Limit story. This book was action packed, tied up the loose ends and questions from book one and finished so beautifully. What a wild ride, I haven’t read a dystopian book like this since Divergent!

Have you ever found yourself so caught up in a world that you forget everything else happening around you?⁣

That was me reading the last 50 pages of The Silent Spaces. 🤯⁣

Trista Lundquist brings us back into this story, that began in The Quiet Limit, with Lai who grew up thinking she would die sometime in her YOD (year-of-death) of 18. This sequel hard-launches us into a world of conspiracy, misinformation and mortal peril as Lai continues to unravel the dystopian nightmare that has controlled her entire world.⁣

One of the things I loved was the way that Lundquist directly challenged the idea of belief and how misinformation can be spread. It was challenging to see such striking similarities to our here-and-now and I appreciated the directness in which it was written.⁣

I also, from a softer perspective, really loved how much more intimacy we had with all of the characters who support and love Lai (also a little bit more of a love story to parallel the harshness of Lai’s arduous journey). This book felt much more emotionally connected, and I look forward to that really continuing to grow in the next book in the series! I felt like I was on the cusp of falling irreversibly in love with the characters in this book. Can’t wait for that final push!⁣ Oh! And did I mention there is this charming orange kitty?!?!

For those of you who haven’t read The Quiet Limit yet: why not??? For those of you who have: you’re in for a treat, and I can’t wait for you to read this! It’ll be ready to be in your hands on July 30!⁣

To @by.tristalundquist : thank you from the bottom of my heart for including me in the ARC team for this incredible book. I’m so proud of the growth in your storytelling. The sky is the limit for your vision and skill, and I can’t wait to see where book 3 takes you!

Title: The Silent Spaces *ARC REVIEW*

Author: Trista Lundquist

Genre: YA/Dystopian

Rating: 5/5 stars 🌟

I was lucky enough to receive an advanced reader copy of "The Silent Spaces" by Trista Lundquist, and I must say, it did not disappoint. This gripping YA/Dystopian had me hooked from the very first page.

After escaping the only life she'd ever known, in a community that she had been taught was all that was left of humanity. Lai is now faced with something even more terrifying: the truth. The Silent Spaces picks up where The Quiet Limit left off, following Lai as she navigates past losses, present confusion, and future uncertainties. She must find a way to survive, all while refusing to give up on those she left behind.

Trista masterfully weaves together a complex and intricately plotted story that keeps readers on the edge of their seats. The character development is superb, and I found myself fully invested in Lai’s journey and the outcome of her aspiration to rescue her loved ones.

The writing is sharp and compelling, with twists and turns that will keep even the most seasoned mystery reader guessing until the very end. The pacing is perfect, building tension and suspense with every page turn.

Overall, "The Silent Spaces" is a thrilling and thought-provoking read that will stay with you long after you finish the final chapter. I highly recommend this book to fans of Divergent and Red Rising. Trista Lundquist has once again proven herself as a master storyteller.

There was much more gratuitous violence than the first one. The plot was what you’d expect if you’re familiar with the dystopian genre. Undecided if I will read the final book.

Yup I've read it twice and you know a series/world/book has fully gotten you when you start planning where you can write some fanfic - which frankly I have never done, but would consider, for this world.
Lai is working through Some Stuff in this follow-up to The Quiet Limit, and Trista does not give her any time to sit quietly and process her feelings. From the start, our girl goes through it all at top speed, barreling through a few scene changes, a bunch of new friends (OR ARE THEY?!), and some big life choices. It's almost impossible to tease this book without dropping a pile of plot, so I'll keep it to myself, but if you thought TSS was fast-paced, it's time to buckle up.
Trista knows how to keep her readers turning pages - chapter cliffhangers move us through the book smoothly, and all the new folks we meet are multi-faceted; just when you think you've figured them out, something else happens and they react in ways that reveal there's way more going on under the surface.
Get ready for this one to drop because it's fun, it's fast, and it's the perfect read for when you're looking to pivot away from a bunch of fluff and get to some dystopian intensity.

Oh and there's a kitty :D

Silent Spaces
By Trista Lundquist
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A wonderful sequel to The Quiet Limit!

First off, thank you so much, @by.tristalundquist
for trusting me with an advanced reader's copy of The Silent Spaces. I'm honored and had such a good time reading it!

Lai has escaped the bubble she was put in since she was born, and now she is thrust into a wholly different sort of dystopian society. She now has to traverse this new world while also trying to figure out how to return and rescue the ones she left behind.

I enjoyed The Quiet Limit, and my curiosity peaked from the start, posing a lot of speculation. The Silent Spaces is the perfect continuation because it keeps you invested by giving answers while also providing action. This book is moving from the beginning, which is a nice change of pace! We are also giving a strong FMC who you can’t help but root for in this crazy, mind-boggling adventure.

If you love dystopian society and mystery, then I highly suggest picking up The Quiet Limit and The Silent Spaces because this series will have you invested and craving more.

Oh my goodness! Where do I even start? I was so looking forward to this sequel, that I read it within 12 hours of receiving this arc. And let me just say Trista Lundquist 100% delivered! And when she is as famous as Suzanne Collins for her dystopian fiction, I'm going to be sitting here in my little corner knowing that right from the beginning I knew she was amazing and someone to watch out for!

This book takes The Quiet Limit and gives us everything we wanted and more. I was surprised at how emotional I was at some points during the read! Lai is a perfectly imperfect MFC. She has trauma, she doesn't always think things through but she's not acting for herself, she's always thinking of others. I love the fact that we saw all of our favourite characters, but also had new ones that weren't just fillers but really added to the plot and the suspense. And I absolutely adore the fact that she had a cat sidekick this time around!

If you are after a suspenseful dystopian thriller, that gives you the familiar vibes of your favourite dystopian movies, but is a clever and unique plot, this series is should be added to your TBR asap!

I can't wait for the third one!

An excellent sequel that picks up soon after events at the conclusion of The Quiet Limit. We learn a lot more about the world outside the quaint false utopian community. I enjoyed getting to meet some new characters (especially Tith the cat 😸) and also revisiting characters from the first book.

The Silent Spaces boasts some heart-pounding and occasionally brutal scenes that had me asking, "Did that really just happen!?" Even in the happier moments, there is a consistent, quiet tension and air of uncertainty that permeates the story. It's also super intriguing that certain elements of the story start to come full circle. I still have SO many questions and absolutely can't wait to see how things wrap up in book 3!

Thank you to the author for a copy of this book! All thoughts are my own.

(I received this novel as an ARC for my honest review)

This is the second book to Trista’s debut novel, The Quiet Limit. I couldn’t have asked for a better follow up to the first in the series. The Silent Spaces perfectly starts with what happens to Lai right after the insane cliffhanger of The Quiet Limit.

This novel is filled with action, suspense, and multiple twists. I really enjoyed how Trista describes the “outside” world and the many type of people that Lai encounters on her adventures in the outside world.

The character development was truly amazing. Trista’s writing illustrates Lai’s struggles with trauma in a genuine, realistic way.

I didn’t want Lai’s story to end - I found myself craving more after the last chapter. I highly recommend if you enjoyed The Quiet Limit or want to start a dystopian series!

dystopian, suspense, found family, badass FMC

In "The Silent Spaces ," Trista Lundquist picks up right where “The Quiet Limit” left off, and boy, does it deliver! The story dives deeper into Lai's world, with more action, and emotional punches. You'll find yourself hooked almost immediately!

The world building and continuation of Lai’s story was flawless. So many sequels don’t live up to the expectations placed upon them, however “The Silent Spaces” exceeded all expectations by far!

Thank you Trista for letting me be part of the ARC team and I cannot wait for this book to be released so I can purchase a copy and re-read it in print💕

I loved The Quiet Limit so much that I was super excited but a little nervous for The Silent Spaces. I had to actually force myself to put it down so I could sleep. It was too good. I found myself thinking about it when I couldn't read. The addition of new characters, while still holding on to Lai's past, was absolute perfection. Trista, you are a rare talent! Do I smell a trilogy????

Also, I can't post a review without mentioning the main attraction... Tith. IYKYK

This was such an incredible followup to The Quiet Limit. I loved seeing what life was like outside those walls and all the wild twists and turns this took. Definitely reminds me of the dystopian books I read in the 2010s and would highly recommend if you’re missing that reading vibe. Also the cat!! I can’t wait to see how everything wraps up!

Thanks to Trista for an arc! All opinions are my own.
