So Lethal Is the Lily

Rate this book
She’s a witch forbidden to love a fae, and he’s the assassin murdering her coven. Together they’ll commit treason.

Lily always wanted to do more than the menial delivery tasks assigned to her, and now she finally has her chance. The witch Matriarch has chosen her for a secret assignment, one that is imperative to the future safety of Faerie. But there’s a problem. When she meets her mission partner, it’s the fae who’s murdering her fellow witches at the behest of the diabolic Summer Court Lord, and to her frustration, she’s inexplicably drawn to him.

Thrown together, Lily and Rune are tasked with laying the breadcrumbs to avert the loss of magic in Cirrelea. Using items stolen from the Summer Court Lord, they’ve committed treason before they’ve set foot outside the court. With a united goal and through perilous adventures, trust grows between them, forcing them to face the truth of their forbidden attraction.

With the weight of prophecies and their loyalty to Cirrelea on their shoulders, Lily and Rune fight against fae beasts and the Summer Court Lord to achieve their goal. All while never knowing if they’ll find a way to remain together when all is complete.

So Lethal Is the Lily is a standalone fantasy romance set in the world of Through the Wall and hundreds of years before the events of So Fell Are the Fae. This companion story is perfect for anyone who loves enemies to lovers, fated mates, shadow daddy’s, the it’s always been her trope, and loads of tension.

The story was just MEH for me. Names of places and characters to closely related to other authors was a turn off. But for wanting an instant gratification can read in a day this books did just that at roughly 150 pages. It didn’t leave me interested in reading so fell are the fae.

I didn’t like this book that much. Details are lacking, and parts of it seemed rushed. The two main characters are okay. The love story is disappointing.

I don’t recommend it.

It was a quick and easy read though. So if that’s what you want, go for it.

Kat Keenan does it again with this prequel novella set approximately 100 years before the events in So Fell Are the Fae. I really enjoyed the enemies to fated mates trope. For being a novella this book had the perfect amount of spicy scenes. And the spice was chefs kiss.

Overall, this book just made me want to re-read So Fell are the Fae. If you haven’t read these books then immediately go read them!!

A litle surprise

What a little surprise!! I had this book in my library without knowing what the story was about, I actually picked it up because it was a short book with a mysterious name and a cover that I thought was beautiful.I have no regrets. I enjoyed learning about the adventure between Lilly and Rune but I thought they deserved a little more time, 150 pages rushed the story a little. However, it's really worth it and it's a very quick book to read. I advise reading it.

Such a short but intense read. If you are looking for a fast and enticing romantasy, I recommend this book, entirely.

I had no idea just how much I missed reading stories with faeries, until I read "So lethal is the Lilly".

Though it is quite short, the amount of banter, adventure, suspense, passion and twists are at high levels.

The action takes place in the Cirellea Kingdom, a place where we find both humans and fae alike. But not just any kind of humans. Witches, good witches.

Rune and Lilly are the ones, who are meant to save the kingdom of Cirellea from the hands of its malevolent ruler, Galwick.

On their way to saving Cirellea, they face many dangers, one worse than the other. But their destiny, will help them get through every challenge they face.

I loved how the story unfolded, and the relationship between Rune - a faerie, also the king's ex-assassin- and Lilly - a witch - has been developing. There is a lot of action, suspense, adventure and passion throughout the fifteen chapters it holds.

This was such a fast cute little read. As a prequel novella to so fell are the fae I have so many questions now. Are Lilly and Rune Inarras parents? If that’s the case what happened after they went through the wall? I wish there was a little more spice but the tension was great. I loved their story and I can’t wait to see what happens next in this series!

“Don’t be long,” I said with a sick grin. “Or maybe take as long as you like.” Rune let out a choked laugh. “You’re lethal.”

“Day by day. Side by side. Always.”

3.5 rounded up. This had a great premise, essentially the prelude to prophecy. When the chosen one goes around collecting magical objects... Where did they come from anyway? Who put them there? In this we follow that process, people setting up the pieces for a future chosen one. So cool.

Sadly, the story is fairly short and that made things rushed imo. The rush from distrust to trust, the rush from one place to the next, all of it. Too fast. I wanted more in between, more build-up, more travel and exploration.

Still a fun little book though.

Love and loyalty

This is a captivating tale of the quest a fae and a witch have been chosen to complete. Their loyalty gets them through the physical trials. What will help them overcome their emotional differences? I was so happy that this is a stand alone book! I had a big ol smile on my face at the end. Very well done, Kat Keenan!

Short read
Lots of adventure
I put it down about 3 weeks but was impressive enough when picked up again I could remember where we left off even that I read 2 other books in between.
I found a vit all those emo reading thru a touch, kiss, bond whatever a bit too much but alltogether a good balance of adventure and E2L development.
I may pick up B1

This was such a great novella and a tie in to the original book. So much information that leads me to more questions than I possibly have answers for! I cannot wait for Book 2 to help me sort them out!!

Enjoyable prequel

I feel like there was plenty here to enjoy, especially since this is less than 160 pages. Yes, a handful of editing errors are present as of this review but most of them were easily skipped over.

I am glad I started with the prequel and I am looking forward to jumping into the trilogy.

Such a cute story, I giggled and kicked my little feet. I definitely wish we had more of their beginning in those 4 years prior.

I can’t wait to read the main story and find out more about this world!

Lily's inner dialogue was way too repetitive and immature. She believes this guy is assisinating her coven but all she thinks about is how attracted to him she is. The overall premise was good, but the execution wasn't.

It was OK. There were a bunch of plot holes, and the worldbuilding was minimal. At about 40-ish percent, it turns out he has a beard that wasn’t mentioned before. It’s entertaining, even though it has a lot of tropes held together by a thread and not much more.

Absolutely loved the prequel. I wish there was more of their story. What happened when they crossed the wall? Did they have children? Is Innaura their dependant? So many questions.
