Wonder Libraries was, excuse the pun, a wonderful little book! Each of the 20 chapters was penned by a different expert in a field related to education and/or children. It was not what I expected, but I was still thrilled by the reading experience. In fact, I started recommending it forward before I'd even finished! It is such a feel-good book for librarians, to read about all the ways that libraries and librarians can make and are making a positive impact on children in our communities. I did get a few ideas and some validation for a current project at my library. I highly recommend this book to my fellow library workers out there!
Excellent resource for all public librarians- not just those specializing in youth services. Very well organized and easy to read and understand. Information is useful and easily applied to the real world. Public librarians truly make a difference.
The most impactful essays for me were: “Understanding trauma and responding with care” by Margo Jacquot “Here to play: games and gaming promote learning in the library” by David L. Hoyt
