About the author

During the course of their career, sisters Tegan and Sara have sold well over one million records and released eight studio albums. They have received three Juno Awards, a Grammy nomination, a Governor General’s Performing Arts Award, and the 2018 New York Civil Liberties Union Award. They have performed on some of the world’s biggest stages, from Coachella to the Academy Awards.

Outspoken advocates for equality, in 2016 Tegan and Sara created the Tegan and Sara Foundation, which fights for health, economic justice, and representation for LGBTQ girls and women. The sisters currently reside in Vancouver, British Columbia, and split their time between there and Los Angeles, California.

I have a huge backlog of Audible books so I am going to try and get at least one done a month. It used not to be a problem to get to them since I liked to listen when driving but since I don’t drive that much anymore I am trying to find a way to incorporate the listening. Anyway, I actually did not know the music of these twin sisters from Canada but since I have liked all the other books in Audible’s Words+Music original series, I figured it would be ok. So, now I think I need to get an album or two since I very much enjoyed the songs in this recording plus their account of their rise in the indie rock world was very interesting, as well as how being female, gay, and a twin affected their lives not just in the music world. These tend to run about an hour and a half in length which makes it easy to fit them in; I will have to think of a way to do the longer books though….

I really liked this because the music samples were good. I liked them and the authors were real. They weren't just self-promoting although there is always a little of that or they wouldn't be doing this audiobook in the first place.

I'd be glad to listen to this audiobook again.
