Rate this book
Welcome to North Five University, where second chances lead to bright futures.

Juniper Baines is no stranger to running away. From her terrible childhood, her abusive parents, her designation, and her bleak future stuck under the thumb of a pack where love, care, and happiness didn’t exist. Her only solitude? Her five childhood best friends who pulled her out of the bleakness of her life and showed her everything she’d been missing. They were always there for her, through thick and thin… until they weren’t.

Now, starting a scholarship at a prestigious university where a bright future awaits, Juno is ready to put it all behind her and chase after her dreams. What she doesn’t expect is to run straight into the five guys who left her behind all those years ago.

And she certainly doesn’t expect them to remember her. But they do, and suddenly everything changes. Her hopes and dream morph into something she never thought she could have but desperately wants.

Sparks fly and hearts mend, but can Juno stop running long enough to embrace the second chance fate has delivered her? Or will her past ruin any chance at a happily ever after with the men who’ve always owned her heart and soul?

Infinitely better than book one

This one was much better written than book one being that it had an actual plot and an ending. But it really still needs a lot of work. So many typos and continuity errors. Random POV changes halfway through a paragraph. Characters suddenly having more clothes on than they were originally described as wearing.

The last scene where she wakes up and all of the guys have left the house and then the accident happens, but then she calls Low and suddenly they’re all at home? So many errors that a good beta team or ARC round would’ve caught and smoothed out.

Really wasn’t a fan of the stereotype with Gabby. Just because she’s a female Alpha means she has to be butch? That really irritated me.

It feels like these authors decided to write a shared world about a college and then never talked about it again. There’s no continuity between the two stories. One has her Omega rooming with a moody beta in the dorms and this author says that Omegas get single rooms with private bathrooms for convenience. One author describes it as a normal run of the mill university while the other author describes it as a school for rich kids with chandeliers in the cafeteria and a library out of Beauty and the Beast.

This one was infinitely better than the books by the other author. This author actually put the Omegaverse elements in the story and gave it a plot. It was a lot more smut than plot, like 2 chapters per spicy scene and that probably could’ve been less, but it was still better overall than the other.

Spoilers

Okay. The backstory is there, and not much else fell in line for me aside from that. Let me start with this. The guys are the same person. This is a 2 person story turned polyamory. You can go to any point in this book and read the guy in questions pov and you'd barely be able to tell them apart. They are interchangeable.

The rest of the book just felt repeated. We repeat stories, repeat feelings, and repeat sex scenes. It made me wonder how much filler I could take and still care.

Honestly the premise was there which kept me reading but it just was not enough.

While this book was infinitely better than book 1, I still couldn't bring myself to plop a 3 star review on this. I finished the book although if I'm being honest it was a bit of a struggle for me. The writing style is easy to follow which makes it fairly easy to read but that is bogged down my spelling and grammar errors galore. If things like that don't bother you within a read you may really enjoy this book though. I do not plan to continue into this series past this first point due to a few points below.

My main issue within this book, and this series as a whole is world consistency. I know this series is written by two different authors, but my general understanding would have been that they talked to make sure everything within the books make sense and didn't counteract each other. I also found this book to be extremely repetitive in literally every single aspect of the story. I will slip the rest of this under a spoiler since I'm going to be comparing books 1 & 2 in this series.

I genuinely hope those that give this book a chance are able to enjoy it. I wish I was the type of reader that could ignore spelling and grammar issues. There were times when the word that was meant to be there was a letter off. There were times when sentences were just simply missing a word or two so that it could make sense.

Happy reading!

So Good!

This book was so heartbreaking but so sweet and good!

First off, I loved the banter between Juniper and Monro… and Juniper and Silver. Loved their friendships so much.

But Juniper and her pack? Oh my heart tore apart for them, though their story pieced it back together. This was such a sweet group together, even with the darkness surrounding them.

Expect trauma, drama, and swoon worthy moments with some delicious spice thrown in.

better than expected

I enjoyed this one but I felt there were open ended discussions. I still have no clue why Leylan chose his career.

I would have liked to see a little more getting to know each other. Idk just seemed too short.

Omegaverse/RH 4 Alphas (M); 1 Beta (M) and 1 Omega (F)/Second Chance/ Multi PoV

SYNOPSIS: The FC, Juniper, is brought up by her abusive pack in a trailer park but meets the MCs all of whom are wealthy and they become childhood friends. This is all ripped away one night when Juno’s abusive pack take things too far and she ends up in foster care. Fast forward 8 years and she has run away from her last foster home and been supporting herself and putting herself through school. She wins a scholarship to the prestigious North University where she bumps into her childhood friends. There is an insta love connection with a sub-plot of Juno being stalked by someone from her past.

HEAT LEVEL: 🌶️🌶️🌶️/🍆🍆🍆🍆 This is one of those books where the FC falls into bed with the MCs within 2 minutes of meeting and the story is heavily padded out with sexy scenes which I found more luke warm than hot and sexy and a bit too clunky in the descriptions. 🥱There’s no MM and it’s all pretty vanilla, mainly one on one with a couple of group scenes.

In summary this is a badly written and badly edited story that feels like it’s been written by a teenager with underdeveloped characters and a ridiculously over the top dark background for the FC. It also doesn’t really follow the Omegaverse rules and you could almost read this as a straight RH story for all the difference it makes with the FC being an omega.

A lot of the story doesn’t make sense with plenty of dramatic scenes which don’t work. The author rushes through how close the FC and MCs were as children and throws you straight into them being ripped apart. The descriptions of the abuse the FC suffers are over the top and unrealistic especially when the FC is describing how hard her life has been to others. She is initially described as untrusting and closed off yet immediately that goes out of the window when she jumps into bed with the MCs and tells them all how hard her life has been (apparently every foster home has been abusive and her body is littered with scars) then does the same thing when she meets a beta from another pack who she instantly gels with 🙄 At no point does the author explain why the FC disappeared and failed to contact the MCs except to say she “lost her phone” 🤦‍♀️ or why the MCs pack could not find her or get information about her. I mean, 8 years pass and neither side even try to find the other despite them all being soul mates - really?? There’s also no explanation as to why the FC never complained or reported the abusive she suffered in her various foster homes. It seems the author was not interested in even attempting a real story but just wanted an insta dark backdrop for to create the stereotypical “broken” FC. The author even throws in the growly biker who runs a bar but has a heart of gold as he cannot help giving the FC his truck and a wad of money when she heads to university despite her only working to him for a few months. There’s no attempt at describing how a relationship was so quickly built. This theme of just throwing characters in but not really explaining where the connections are built follows on through the book with the introduction of Silver as the best friend (although there’s no depth brought to the character and all she seems to do is pop up occasionally for no real reason) and then the introduction of the Larson Pack and the FC bonding with their surly beta which no one apparently does.

There is no world building attempted and you get little to no background on the MCs or explanation as to exactly why they are so in love with the FCs. They’re like cardboard cut outs and it is all very superficial so it’s hard to care about any of the characters.

Finally, for the love of God can authors not get someone to proof read their books? There are so many just badly written books out there with grammar issues, missing words or an author that appears to have swallowed a thesaurus using words that don’t work and are used in the wrong context. 😫

There are better books out there and I would suggest not bothering with this, sorry 🤷‍♀️

Not necessarily a bad read, but could have been better. The plot itself wasn't too bad, very low drama or whatever drama that was the climax there was was resolved quickly within a few chapters.

For starters, it definitely needs to be edited because the amount of grammatical errors within this was immense. Also, I'm not sure what the authors deal is, but the amount of simile's in the book was so damn annoying... comparisons can still be made, but you don't constantly need to use the same general sentence and just switching up the end half 🙄 and the amount of times the author would repeat certain words throughout the book was equally annoying... it felt like when you were a kid and learned a new word, so then you just start using it all the time regardless (the fact that the term "herculean" was used more than once and more than twice in this book is one example). Equally, there were definitely several contradictions too, like one example is when Juno asked Munro how many alphas were in his pack and he said 4 plus him as the beta, but then later on we meet his pack and there's actually 3 alphas and an omega plus him as the beta.

The second issue I have is that there definitely seemed to be favourtism within the pack dynamic, where Juno for the most part only ever sought out Creek and Lowie while the other 3 guys were the ones that made the initiative to seek out/initiate things with her. I think out of all of them, the least interaction she has is with Leylan, where in most of the cases he's involved there's always someone else there too.

The next thing is that the steam was always somewhat lacking in my mind because 9/10 times there was absolutely no foreplay involved.... like they would just be vigorously kissing, hands in very innocent places (hair, back, waist) not even groping, and then they'd just get right into fucking. Sounds like lazy lovemaking to me. It all just felt very incomplete in my opinion.

I suppose this is my final point now, but the names of the characters are something else. It's like the author felt they needed to have "unique and different" names for each character and it gets old real fast. Juniper, Evron, Creek, Geo (that's at least more normal), Leylan, and Lowie as main characters. Then even side characters with Silver, Munro, Pace, Aero, Rage, and Haze. The only ones that had more neutral names are characters that are mentioned more briefly than all the others for a page or two. Like I understand wanting a more unique name for a character but when it's at this level it's just annoying.

As a side note: Silver was the most annoying bitch I've ever read, and I couldn't help but cringe every time she was on page. Definitely not a character I'd ever care to follow up on... and it pisses me off that the men of the Larsen Pack, who were actually decent, are now gonna be involved with her in the next book.

Overall all it really wasn't bad, the plot was enjoyable enough and the banter definitely warranted some chuckles and smiles, but there were a few annoyances that knocked it down for me.

It's a bit blah with small sprinkles of good humor

I fully believe this book is a case of quantity over quality which is made worse by the feeling of potential. Similar to book one in this series, there is low quality editing, a bit of messy storyline flow, and a lack of character building where the guys are concerned. The main plot and FMC are absolutely golden but they can't haul the weight of everything else unfortunately. Several books are/were released within a very short period of time by the two authors writing this series and the quality seems to have taken a hit in their quick fire release plan.

In all fairness, Juniper is one amazing FMC - smart, funny, self reliant and with a background built up for her that is so complex and supportive of her present day personality. She's hard to find fault with really. She deserves a better book.

The besties are serious life goals and there are so many to choose from. Silver and Munro take gold (while fighting for podium space), Mack and Gabby slot into second really happily (especially when they get to share podium space), and the rest of Pack Larsen clutch into third without breaking a sweat.

The guys are a bit of a let down, but only in the sense that they deserve more depth. We get enough to like them but also enough to question some things about them. Why is Low so mad initially? Why doesn't Creek get more focus? And who in the world named these guys??? Their parents need a stern talking to. Speaking of, where are all the other parents? They all loved Juniper so why don't they all visit instead of just the twins' parents?

The storyline is a bit messy with little thought to time lines and normal life. Yes it is fiction but I'm pretty sure these scholarship kids only went to three classes in like three weeks. There is also a little continuity issue between the two authors. What turned out to be a good thing for the FMC in book one (omega center) is made out as a pushy slightly evil burden for Juniper who, as a 12 year old, was apparently being pushed to pack. It doesn't match the society building in book one which is a common warning flag for me.

Juniper grew up in a pack where drugs were more important than food. At best, she was neglected, at worst physically abused. The bright spots in her life were her five friends and their families. They gave her hope of a happy future. But one night her birth Pack went too far. Nearly dead, Juno ended up in the hospital before being sent into the system. She was lost to her friends. Her life didn't get any easier but she survived, worked hard, and won a scholarship to the prestigious North Five University. Once there, she discovers her childhood friends are also there. They never forgot her and still want a future with her. However, someone is determined Juniper isn't deserving of a second chance at the life she so desperately wants.

This book had such a strong premise, but it never materialized. It was too long and repetitive. It also needs thorough editing to fix all of the errors. The danger storyline was okay if not a surprise. We never got any character development with the guys. Juno's "Friendship Pack" was better developed. We never even discovered Leylan's career. There was little relationship development, no real wooing, only a date or meal. What about the gifts and shopping trips? Her Pack was wealthy and she had nothing, and they never fixed this. I expected a new wardrobe and a fancy camera, but no. They had made the nest for her, so she didn't even get to pick out what she wanted. Even the sex was lackluster and had no real heat or emotion.

I liked the Friendship Pack more than Juno's Pack, however, I doubt I will read their story. Silver's character didn't work for me. I felt she was poorly written, so she wasn't as likable as she should have been. I don't think this author's style of writing is for me. Overall, this was a disappointment.

I loved the plot of this book. Childhood best friends that were torn apart, but found each other again years later. This one was really easy to read & the way the story unfolded seemed really organic.

There are some typos, but I’ve encountered those in trad published too so I try not to judge a story too harshly because of that. I really appreciate that this story seemed to help set up the next book in the series by this author. Between book 1 and book 2 the only thing connecting them is the university, but it seems like the next book by JJ will be about characters we met in this book so it’s a little more connected.

It’s a little too early to tell since this is only book 2, but it seems like the authors didn’t get the basics about the university nailed down. They describe it a little different in both books and the policies seem to be different. Overall I’m excited to see what comes next in this series.

This one ended up being alright. I think we had a tiny bit more attention on the suspense side, but again, the steam took over. I wish we had more drama or suspense for the pack and Juno to reunite, but they bounced together super-fast. As for the suspense, it was good, but again it was over too fast. I wish we had focused more on it, but the steam took over, and it was just okay. I don't think I'm going to continue with the series. I had the same issues with both books, but they're really not bad books if you like a lot of steam. I just don't think they're going to be the most memorable down the road for me. Also, this is a really minor thing and not even something that typically bothers me, but there were so many typos in here all throughout the book, and it just got a little annoying, unfortunately. But like the previous book in the series, I liked it, I just wish it was a tiny bit longer and focused more on the suspense because the stream was HEAVY in here.

Juniper truly deserved her HEA. Seriously. I don’t think I have ever read an Omegaverse book where a character deserves their HEA more than Juniper.

First, this book was amazing. Truly fantastic. I loved everything about it. Even the heart breaking moments.

Second, this book has amazing characters. Juniper and her pack are all super well written and their chemistry and love for each other makes for such a great read. But one of the best parts of this book are the side characters. I absolutely love Munro and his pack, and Silver is both adorable and super funny.

This book is excellent. It was truly heartwarming to watch Juniper and her guys reunite after being separated for eight years. I loved each and everyone of them. This was such a great story!

Such a heartaching read! All the abuse juniper had to endure throughout her life made my heart ache for her to finally have her happily ever after with her pack! She’s extremely resilient and never gives up regardless of the really sad hand life deals her!

And all the guys! Omg! I loved them! I love that they never gave up on their love for her and I loved how playful they were! So much drama and chaos and heartache happens throughout the story but so much love is woven into it! I loved the side characters too!

Trigger warning though, this book does have on page child abuse and physical abuse.

Headline

I really liked this story but the reason it didn't get 5 stars is because there were a few parts that got messed up, like in one chapter we starts from creek pov but part of the way in (like from one sentence inthe same paragraph to the next) we were in geo pov. Or the accident the whole reason she left by herself was because the guys had all already left but when she calls lowie they are all at the house she left not even 5 mins before....just several inconsistencies like that that didn't hurt the overall story but definitely took you out of it for sure.

The story is interesting but again as the last one it felt rushed at the end. It has spicy content but it takes a lot of the story were it could have gone a little deeper in the males personalities because it comes to the point that again there are almost the same making it a little bit difficult to differentiate them. There are also a lot of misspelled words, some of them used wrongly, its not a big problem but as someone that english is not her first language i had to check this words constantly because i got lost with the dialogs.

She has a major car accident and it's almost drowned in freezing water but it's discharge in hours and has a heat spike when her body it's cover in bruises and in pain from the accident. Early in the book they say stress causes delay in heat but she has a major accident and goes into heat despite being injured. Feels a bit rushed. She should recover first.
And isn't necessary in every book that the main FMC have a girl friend. Silver it's annoying and unnecessary in this book.

Good Read

I really enjoyed this super sweet book where second chances are handed out to the characters. I enjoyed the story, I found myself immersed in the world and loving the twist in the book. The characters were great, I loved how they all came together and enjoyed their journey throughout the story in getting to know each other again. I would recommend giving this book a read.

I really enjoyed Juniper's story.
It had so many elements of an omegaverse that I truly love.
In addition, there was spice, lots of feels, some drama, and humor.
I'm so glad we got to see some growth in Juniper. I loved her guys too. The way they were all in and supportive made me happy.
Overall, I think it was a great read!

I this book so much! There were a few errors, but nothing stopping the greatness of this book. Best quote of the book was "She got laid and claimed, you unobservant thundercunt, look closer." You have to give love to a book with such a fantastic quote. I cannot wait for the next book...I hope it's about Silver and Mundro.

ALL THE THINGS!!!

Warning! You will experience tears! 😭

Seriously though. This book was my favorite of the North Five University (so far) with so much emotion, strength, a hugely supportive pack…all of it!

Check triggers if needed…

I was secretly hoping Juniper was actually related somehow to Munroe. 🤣 I really liked him!!!

Perfect ending.

Omegaverse is my comfort read genre, that’s why i picked up this one

From the beginning was pretty obvious who the bad and good characters are in this story. I think i liked the overall plot but it was missing with me to connect to such a big pack tbh

I think i will try other books from the North U to make a better opinion

I've read the first book. and I liked this one better, Longest and best development in history

Although I must say that there is no relationship in terms of the context of the story between the two authors

What I liked is that this book does show a timeline with its characters I already want to read Larsen Pack!
I really liked Mark's detail, a cliché yes but I like it.

Great story!

An awesome story, just a few discrepancies in the story that didn’t match with was written. Feel like more could have been written to explain certain moments better. But all in all a wonderful story.

Liked it more than I thought!

There were low level of drama and if there was any it was resolved quickly. I will say there was something missing within the plot for me but not necessary badly done. Got introduced to more character I will be seeing in the upcoming books which I'm excited to see!

seemed rushed

The balance of spice to story was off for me. The writing seemed rushed and I really wished there was more of the suspense side of the plot. I also wanted more cross over between the first and second book. I don’t think there was a single shared character.

Trigger warnings are a thing nowadays

Child abuse is NEVER entertainment! Warnings should be listed at the beginning of most books. Having a 12 year old beaten bloody "on screen" is disgusting and disturbing.
