Rachel and Grandpa Eric are house and dog sitting for her sister, Maddie and brother in law, Frank. They’re in a posh town, but it’s a small town where hardly anyone likes The Baxters. I don’t blame the town one bit after meeting him.

Humphrey the dog is quite mischievous, but also a do-gooder. At first I was like can’t they get a handle on this dog and keep him from running away, but then when he’s helpful all my thoughts on that go out the window.

The romance between Rachel and Ben is a slow burn and doesn’t happen until much later in the book. They didn’t get off on the right foot, but eventually they grew to care for each other. I loved the ‘link’ that brought them together.

I didn't particularly care for Rachel all the much, or her mother and aunts for that matter. Actually there's a whole crew of unlikable characters, with only a handful of nice ones.

This is more about Rachel's journey of figuring her life out after losing her BFF and her job, and spending time with grandpa (my favorite part). Grandpa was great and I loved their bond. Always up for an adventure and just trying to live out the rest of his life how he wants.

Overall, there were some heartwarming moments amidst the chaos in this snowy Christmasy read.

Narration notes:
She did fine. She differentiated her voices well for an array of characters.

The Christmas Dog sitters by Lucy Mitchell
Contemporary chick lit holiday story. Light romance. Cute dog. England location.
Rachel is struggling with the death of her best friend, a recent breakup, and being let go from her job. When her rich sister calls and asks her to dog sit in her fancy house for a few weeks over the holidays, Rachel’s all in. Grandpa Eric is put into Rachel’s care and goes with her. They’ve been told to stay out of the local town and out of the west wing of the house. No one likes the brother-in-law but they will decide which of his strict rules to follow. When Humphrey runs out there door and disappears out of the yard, into town they go searching for him. Everyone in town is very nice. Until they find out they are relatives of Rachel. Then the townspeople turn cold. Ben, the remodeling contractor of the kitchen, and his six year-old daughter who the dog befriended, makes the whole situation a little easier for Rachel. Grandpa Eric seems to love chaos and Rachel chases after him. How is he her responsibility again?
It’s a holiday unlikely to be forgotten. Where’d the dog run off to now?

🎧 I listened to an audiobook version narrated by Charlie Albers (female). The performance is done in an English London accent and is entertaining and can hold your attention. There are unique voices for the two main characters and several secondary voices, although it felt a little muddled near the end with a child sounding almost exactly like a grandmother. But that was the exception. For the bulk of the recoding, the emotions came through clearly such as the exasperation with the dog Humphrey, each time he ran out of the house. Grandpa Eric sounded exactly like a grandpa should.
I did listen to this recording at my preferred speed of 1.5 which more closely matches my reading speed as well as conversational comfort.

A holiday feel good story to remind yourself of family, kindness, and to live a good life while you can. Happy and satisfying ending, after laughing at Grandpa Eric and the rest of the family antics.

I received a copy of this from NetGalley and publisher Dreamscape Media.

I continue with my holiday reading with another sweet and heartwarming Christmas romance. In the spirit of full disclosure, it was one simple word in the title that had me adding this to my holiday to-read list. DOG!!! Yep, that’s right, another doggie story. I am such a sucker for a cute story with a great doggie in it, and Humphrey, who seemed to have a sixth sense of people in trouble, was perfect in his role of escape artist extraordinaire!

The book summary pretty much lays out the premise of the whole story. Rachel has had a rough year. Her boyfriend dumped her and shortly thereafter became publicly engaged (I HATE public proposals). Her kitty had a stroke and died, she got laid off, or as they say in the UK, she was made redundant. Good grief! As if getting laid off isn’t bad enough, but then to be called redundant to complete the feeling of being useless. To make matters even worse, her best friend and flatmate, Olivia, the one who was there for her all through the year’s ups and down, is killed while riding her bike.

In an effort to “help” her, Rachel’s What’s App obsessed family (family discussions and decisions are made on numerous What’s App threads) decide that Rachel will be dog sitting for her sister and taking care of Grampa for the holiday since she didn’t have any holiday plans, other than sitting in her apartment grieving amongst the pails of water from her leaky roof. None of this is a spoiler since it’s pretty much how the story started. Grampa, an 80yr old widower, is cared for by his daughter, and Rachel’s aunt, Karen, who treats him like he’s a doddering idiot on his deathbed. Grampa, who is so lonely since the death of his wife 10yrs ago, is determined to have a Christmas adventure before he dies and maybe even fall in love again. LOVE GRAMPA!!!

Most of the story takes place in the little village of Hartbrook that Rachel’s sister, Maddie, lives in with her wealthy husband, Frank, and her (not Frank’s) dog, Humphrey, whose nickname should be Houdini for all the magnificent escapes he has accomplished. Frank, an American and former Hollywood actor, is a bit of a pompous @$$, rude to pretty much everyone: the staff, Maddie’s family as well as the entire village of Hartbrook. Frank is also pestering Maddie to have a baby and she is waffling. Maddie’s home, a mansion with wings, and according to Frank, no one is allowed in the west wing, and they’re also not allowed to leave the property or go into the village, for anything – EVER!. Hmmm…..that’s not suspicious - AT ALL!

Last but not least, and most certainly to make things more interesting, there’s a hunky builder, Ben, working on the new kitchen in the mansion. As if Humphrey and his antics weren’t cute enough already, there is an adorable little girl, Rosie, who is Ben’s daughter, that is best buddies with Humphrey. As it turns out, Ben and Olivia had been buds since college and Olivia even tried to fix them up earlier in the year, but Rachel wasn’t interested. Ben is a widower and his wife, Sophie, was Olivia’s BF back in college.

Yes, this story was the classic Lifetime Christmas love story, but that’s what I wanted and why I picked it. It’s about the only time of year that I’ll watch Lifetime. The character development was good for this quick read. I loved the characterization of Rachel’s family, especially Grampa. The pacing was steady and the storyline was sweet and amusing. The writing was on par for a heartwarming Christmas story. I’m looking at an overall rating of 3.8 that I will be rounding up to a 4star review. I want to thank NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for sending me this eARC in exchange for my honest review.

Book Review
Overall, this was a cute and cozy holiday read, perfect for getting into the festive spirit. The characters, especially Rachel's Grandpa and the mischievous spaniel Humphrey, brought some fun and heartwarming moments that made me smile. I enjoyed how the story touched on themes of grief, healing, and second chances, set against the backdrop of a bustling village at Christmas.
While I loved the humor and the charming cast of characters, I found myself wanting a bit more romance. Rachel and Ben’s relationship had potential, but I wished it had been explored more deeply. Their moments together were sweet, but it felt like their connection could have been developed further, especially with the Christmas magic swirling around them.
Despite this, The Christmas Dog Sitters offers a lovely mix of festive cheer and emotional depth, with a cute dog playing a starring role! A light, fun read for the holiday season.

I received a free copy of, The Christmas Dog Sitters, by Lucy Mitchell, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Rachel agreed to pet sit her sisters dog, but somehow she is caring for her very cranky Grandpa as we, since Rachel had no other plans for the holiday season she must plug on. This might be Rachel's worst Christmas ever, or it might turn out to be her best! A good Christmas book.

Thank you netgalley, dreamscape media and Lucy Mitchell for the arc in exchange for an honest review.

To say this book relatable regarding family is an understatement.
The numerous WhatsApp chats talking about members of the family and judgmental and snarky comments from family.
It all just hits very close to home.

I don’t know if because of this I couldn’t actually like the story because all it just felt similar to my own world.

The story lacked something and it wasn’t gripping me.

It was ok and that’s all I can really say.
Would I recommend? Yes if it’s a free read for something to pass time.
Would I pay it? No I wouldn’t.

First off, thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for this advanced copy. This was a fun Christmasy read to get you in the spirit. The idea of the story was good: friend is struggling with best friends death and needs to get away for awhile to recoup and relax. This book is written from a single POV from Rachel's perspective. I liked how the story embraced the themes of grief and healing and second chances. Even though we had the humor from grandpa and the dog, I would have loved more from Rachel and Ben. Their overall relationship development was lacking intrigue, detail, and more romance. Overall, it was a good book that got the holiday spirit moving. I'm always looking for new authors to read and I will look into more of Lucy Mitchell's books.

There were a few characters that played a role in this book: the FMC Rachel, the MMC Ben, the dog Humphrey, grandpa, sister, and sister's husband.

Rachel (FMC): She's invited to stay at her sister's house over Christmas break to dog sit Humprey with grandpa. When she gets there, she suspects something is up with her sister's husband and is determined to figure out what it is. She runs into Ben while there and finds out that he was supposed to be her blind date before her best friend passed away. She rejects him multiple times until the end.

Ben (MMC): He's the builder at the sister's house. He is a widower and has a young daughter that is 7 years old. He slowly falls for Rachel and does everything in his power to prove to her that he is all in with her even though she rebukes some of his attempts.

Grandpa (support character): He is by far my favorite character. He was humorous, lovable, and just wants to find someone to share the rest of his life with.

Sister/Sister's husband: At the beginning, sister seems like a pushover who goes along with whatever she's told to do. Then by the end, she comes back and has grown a spine and stands up for herself. The husband is a horrible human being. He doesn't like his wife, wants a kid with her but wants it to live half a year in London and half a year in California with separate parents, and makes his wife stay in a completely different wing of the house than him.

I think the audio affected my enjoyment of this book. Rachel’s family was obnoxious, which was definitely the point, but the voicing of them was over the top and off putting for me. The rest of the story was a cozy, English village setting at Christmas with Hallmark vibes and a touch of mystery. I’m not a lover of the Hallmark stories so this one was just okay for me. If you love those stories and are looking for a Christmasy read, this might be a good option for you.

I received an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. The thoughts and opinions in this review are my own.

3.5. Rachel has lost her best friend, left a relationship, and is having trouble with her job. The holidays are approaching and her sister invites her to stay at her mansion and dog sit Humphrey while she’s away with her husband. Rachel takes her sister up on her offer before she realizes she’ll also be caring for their grandpa. Between the mischievous dog and goofy grandpa, she’s got her work cut out for her!

This book was the perfect mix of family drama, romance, and Christmas with a touch of found family. It was a super cute story with a bit of mystery and was entertaining from start to finish. If you’re looking for something specifically about Christmas, I’d give this one a 3/5 on the Christmas scale.

This audiobook was narrated by Charlie Albers. She did so great for a cozier Christmas story, her accent was such a nice touch to the story!

Thank you so much to Netgalley, Lucy Mitchell, and Dreamscape Media for providing this free ARC. This is my honest review. This publishes on September 18th.

At first I wasn’t so sure about this book. There were a couple things towards the beginning that bothered me. However, this book kept growing and growing on me as I read on! It ended up becoming a charming Christmas novel! Perfect for fans of hallmark Christmas movies that are also dog lovers! Thanks to NetGalley I received this ARC!
This was a super sweet book. It had elements of romance, but overall it was about finding yourself, dealing with heartbreak and creating your true family.
I really enjoyed all the fun characters. The grandpa was funny and I loved their relationship. I really loved the main character, Rachel. She was bold and fun. I really liked Ben the love interest as well. I just only wish we got to hear a little more of their story and focus a tad more on them.
But overall I really enjoyed and it was a fun holiday read.

I have to tell you, I LOVE a Lucy Mitchell book. I've read all her wonderful stories, and I sighed and giggled throughout them.
I was delighted to read The Christmas Dog Sitters and thoroughly enjoyed visiting Harp Brook.
Rachel, our MC, has had a tough year. From a relationship break to losing her beloved cat, followed by the devastating loss of her best friend, and ending up with no job and in a leaky flat, surrounded by memories, she's not had the best time.
Armed with the power of WhatsApp groups, her family conspires to get her back on her feet with an invitation to Harp Brook, where she is asked to dog-sit in a beautiful mansion and have a relaxing three-week break.
However, looking after delightfully wild octogenarian Grandpa Eric, a rather strict brother-in-law's rules how to live in his house, a young cleaner with a problem, construction work, accompanied by a rather handsome but somewhat gruff builder, strange vibes coming from the local community, constant WhatsApp messages and Facetime calls from family members, and an over-exuberant, Houdini of a cocker spaniel called Humphrey into, doesn't quite equate to a relaxing break.
I have to say, I raced through this book in one sitting. An element of mystery added another layer to this brilliant RomCom. (Don't ask me about it, or it won't stay a mystery!)
Rachel's grief burrows deep inside you as a reader. I wanted to reach into the book and hug her, and I only wanted the best for her.
Builder Ben was the sweetheart we all needed - and I always love a hero who can cook!
Lucy creates a fantastic supporting cast whenever she writes. Rachel's mum, the Aunty gang, and cousins who add to the various WhatsApp chats are hilarious in parts and so reminiscent of groups I have on my phone! Everyone thinks they can solve the world's problems via messages and GIFs!
Two firm favourites did emerge, though.
Grandpa Eric is a brilliant character with his wild hair, and he wishes to have a Christmas adventure while still able. The love he shows Rachel, along with the sense of loss and grief many elderly folk feel, as the world around them thinks they are now incapable of anything other than sitting in a chair with a blanket over their knees and a cup of tea, just pulled at my heartstrings.
Humphrey, the gorgeous dog Rachel went to dog sit, initially is a total loon! He appears to be a devil, but that is just the disguise he wears, as he shows himself to be a veritable angel—a real mischievous cutie.
An incredible, heartwarming, feel-good story. Please pick it up now!

Thanks to NetGalley and Bloodhound Books for the advanced copy of this title in return for an honest review.

Christmas, dogs, romance...what more do you want in a book on these dark and rainy summer nights we've been having (at time of reading - for all I know, when this review goes live we might be sitting in 30 degree heat or 30" snow).

There's something quite naughty about reading a festive book in August, but I am a self-confessed Mrs Claus all year round, and was actually listening to Christmas music whilst writing up this review.

I think this is the first of Lucy's books for me, which is exciting as I'm always interested in finding new authors, and it's definitely whetted my appetite for more.

Yes it's got all that cosy, romantic, happy, beautiful christmassyness I was expecting, but it doesn't hide away from difficult topics such as death, grief, illness, ageing, secrets, affairs, breakups, secrets etc. and it is this balance that makes it relatable, and makes all the positive things shine just that bit more.

It is so easy to read, I read it in a matter of hours. It just flows off the page and I had a smile on my face from start to finish. I really liked it, it is warm and cosy and funny and just a really uplifting and enjoyable red.

I loved Rachel as a main character, she was so human and relatable and seemed so lovely. She's gone through some difficult times and she's grieving, but she still wants to help others, even if they don't always reciprocate it. And her Granddad was an absolute joy and made me really nostalgic for Christmases with my own Grandparents. And Humphrey the dog was gorgeous. He reminds me of my dog, even though mine isn't a spaniel like Humphrey is, but given a chance I could imagine he'd be happy to run down the street and go exploring. Although some of the secondary characters are nasty pieces of work and I was getting so worked up about them, almost as if their grudge was with me.

Whilst I enjoyed it immensely as it is, I didn't even need the family tensions or romance subplots. I would have quite happily read pages and pages and pages just documenting Rachel and her Granddad and Humphrey's Christmas, they were so compelling and really felt like family.

People often ask why I liked reading these types of happily-ever-after books, because they're all the same. And I do agree to a point, but that's what I want, especially at this time of year. My most read genres are probably thriller and fantasy, which I love, obviously, but sometimes I just want a book that's easy to read, happy, joyful, and one which I know will all end up happy, but it's the journey to get to that end which I enjoy the most.

Title: The Christmas Dog Sitters
Author: Lucy Mitchell
Narrated by: Charlie Albers
Publisher: Dreamscape Media
Length: Approximately 9 hours and 3 minutes
Source: Review Copy from NetGalley. Thank you!

Christmas dog or Christmas cat? I love them both.

Rachel is having a hard time as Christmas nears. Her best friend has passed away, she has lost her job, and her heart has recently been broken. Her family decides on their WhatsApp chat that Rachel will watch her sister’s dog over Christmas at their fabulous estate while the rest of the family vacations elsewhere. They also decide that Rachel will also watch her Grandpa as well. Rachel is not happy with her family making these decisions for her. As she settles in and meets contractor Ben who is working on her sister’s house, will she be able to make a change to her life?

My thoughts on this novel:
• As Rachel and Grandpa settle into the estate, they learn that no one likes Frank Baxtor (Rachel’s rich famous actor brother-in-law who owns the estate).

• The dog seems annoying but turns out to be a hero.

• I loved Grandpa. I also liked how at first, Rachel is annoyed that her family has stuck her with watching Grandpa for Christmas. Grandpa helps her to remember that he is a person too with dreams and the loves and cares for her and their family.

• All Grandpa wants for Christmas is to live and to have his own romance and adventure.

• I enjoyed the comedic elements of the story. It was a very fun romantic comedy.

• Rachel is a cook and I always enjoy descriptions of foods and feasts.

• I liked how one of the themes was not to judge people and that there is always a second chance for everyone in life.

• I really wanted to know what was going on with Rachel’s sister Maddie and her husband Frank. I guessed mostly what was happening but did have a surprise at the end.

• Rachel and Ben had a sweet romance story.

• I loved all of the characters and the setting in the English village.

Overall, The Christmas Dog Sitters by Lucy Mitchell is a charming romantic comedy story which was a lot of fun to read.

The Christmas Dog Sitters by Lucy Mitchell

I received an advance review copy for free thanks to NetGalley and Bloodhound Books and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Blurb

Rachel is struggling. She’s navigating the loss of her best friend, she’s left heartbroken by her ex-boyfriend, and she’s recently been made redundant by her employer. So the impending holiday season is the last thing she wants to think about.

Then her rich sister suggests that Rachel dog-sit her spaniel, Humphrey, in her luxurious country house in a quaint village in Surrey. However, Rachel is soon manipulated into caring for her elderly Grandpa Eric, too. Between managing flight-risk Humphrey and rebellious Grandpa Eric, Rachel uncovers family truths, discovers a secretive west wing . . . and must cook Christmas dinner for an entire village.

Amid the chaos, Rachel meets handsome builder Ben. Working at the house, he’s also no stranger to loss, but is willing to re-enter the dating scene—albeit with a six-year-old daughter in tow. Can Rachel and Ben find their way through grief at this tricky time of year? And when a snowstorm threatens to ruin Christmas for everyone, can Rachel and Humphrey bring the community together?

My Opinion

The Christmas Dog Sitters was such a sweet and heart-warming festive book that ultimately shows how a community can all come together when needed. As Rachel has no plans for the festive season, she is left to dog sit for her sister and also look after her grandfather whilst the rest of her family go away for the holidays. Humphrey was a highly entertaining character, with a habit of running away. A great book to read over the festive season.

"The Christmas Dog Sitters" by Lucy Mitchell is fiction and set at Christmas in England in a small town in Surrey.

Rachel gets drafted into dog sitting for her sister's dog spaniel, Humphrey, while Maddie and her husband go on vacation. This dog is known as an escape artist. Next, Rachel finds she has been assigned to care for her grandfather as well.

Grandpa Eric arrives, and he's ready for an adventure and a romance! He isn't planning to sit in the house and do nothing the whole time. As soon at they arrive at the mansion, Maddie's husband gives her a list of rules such as not going into the west wing and not leaving the house at all. As soon as Maddie and Frank leave, the little dog takes off.

Grandpa finds romance, and eventually, Rachel does, too.

It was a better book than I thought it would be at first. The author is really good at writing very nasty characters. There is a bit if humor and some heartwarming bits.

I went into The Dog Sitters by Lucy Mitchell with high hopes. I love dogs. I love Christmas. A light, funny festive rom-com featuring both sounded like exactly what I needed. Unfortunately, that’s not quite what I got.

Instead of cosy escapism, the story is heavily underpinned by grief, dysfunctional and emotionally abusive family dynamics, and unpleasant townspeople. The heroine is frustratingly spineless and self-pitying, the dog is chaotic yet improbably miraculous, and the plot leans hard on eye-rolling coincidences. Christmas itself barely features beyond a sled ride, mentions of snow, and some festive food.

It was very close to being a DNF, but I pushed through in the hope of a happy ending - which did arrive, albeit in an improbable and saccharine way. I did wonder if the book might work better in print rather than as an audiobook, where some of the tone felt grating and overly dramaticised.

A disappointing read overall, and not the festive rom-com I was hoping for. Two stars for navigating grief and the descriptions of the quaint English village which i could vividly see in my minds eye, otherwise it would be a 1 star. Ah well.

This book was a little of everything and I loved it. It had family drama, a little romance, a little mystery and a cute mischievous dog. Rachel is struggling since her best friend's death. She is at a job she hates stuck in the apartment she shared with her best friend. She knows something is wrong with her sister but no one will listen to her and her sister won't talk to her. For Christmas, she is chosen to dog and grandpa sit for the holiday. The small town she is in seems so nice but when she tells whose house she is staying in, her brother-in-law, everyone immediately shuns her. What is going on? Rachel has so much growth in this book. I'm just so proud of her. I love how some in her family make sure she knows how important she is to them. The narration was perfect. This is a saw set holiday romance set in the countryside of England, the audiobook narrator has a wonderful accent and is extremely expressive. I immediately felt like I was transported to the small town Rachel & Ben are living in for the holidays.

The main character, Rachel, is so relatable. She is grieving the recent loss of her best friend, her ex-boyfriend broke her heart, AND she has been made redundant at work. WOW no wonder Rachel isn't feeling the holiday cheer.

But she arrives to dog sit her sister's adorable dog & take care of Grandpa Eric, who is a HOOT 🤣 And slowly but surely the holiday cheer and Ben's wooing start to thaw Rachel's heart.

This novel is light and easy, perfect for a holiday romance.

I love this time of year and the run up to Christmas, it’s the perfect time for a Christmas story and this one fitted the bill perfectly! It was heartwarming, funny, festive and i thoroughly enjoyed it!

There were so many wonderful characters in this story and maybe a few that i loved to hate too!! Humphrey was just amazing and i adored him but the one person who i loved more than anything was Grandpa Eric, he absolutely made the story!

Thank you Netgalley for this arc read!
I chose this book because I saw DOG! The cover is adorable and it was the perfect Hallmark movie in a book with just the right amount of comedy, love story, and spice I needed in a holiday book. It definitely gave me all the Christmas vibes and centered the timeline around events that happen around the holidays. I loved Humphrey’s (the dog) ornery personality and Grandpa was just as ornery and comical. The touch of dealing with grief was very real and raw. The sprinkles of family drama and love story made it a fun, easy read! I really enjoyed this story!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

This book was so sweet and heartfelt! I loved the story and how wonderful Rachel was even though to her mother she was a failure. Rachel embodies what everyone she be like during the holiday season, caring, generous, and helpful. I loved the focus on family dynamics and how they shape our self worth. This book was a perfect holiday read and I loved it!

4.5 stars
This is an entertaining, fun, good read. Rachel and Ben are interesting, relatable, intriguing, complex, wounded, strong, entertaining characters. I enjoyed their romance and the path it took to get to their HEA. These two are fun to spend time with. The secondary characters – from Eric to Humphries – added to the fabric of the story and my enjoyment. The story is easy to read and get into.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I do not give 5 stars lightly. I really enjoyed this book! The characters were fun and there was just a bit of “ mystery” to keep you turning the pages. I am not generally one who likes a diary read in a book but this one was not elaborate and drove the main character’s path towards finding herself. Great book! Thank you to Net Galley for the ARC in return for my honest opinion.

A quick cosy Christmas read. A bit of sadness, dealing with grief and family drama and relationships. But the friendships and goodness shine through for all the nice characters.

Some books are hits, and some are just misses, and unfortunately, this one was the latter for me.

When Rachel's sister is going away with her new husband on a 3-week vacation, she asks her to come to their English manor to dog-sit their misbehaved dog Humphrey. Her family insists she takes her aging grandfather to care for while she's there. She's been struggling to cope with the death of her best friend and roommate, and her love life has been in shambles as well. This may just be the holiday season that will change everything.

I may have been in the wrong space to read this one, but it felt like a pretty bad Hallmark movie. A lot of the conflict was incredibly high drama, some of which was recycled several times, which bothered me (how many times are we supposed to be interested with the dog running away? Like, maybe two? Not four, five, six...I lost count). I was really looking forward to the romance, but that storyline might have been my least favorite of them all. I didn't feel like there was a lot of support there to justify a lot of what happened. Ben seemed to do a 180 personality-wise, and why? Just so he could be the 'grumpy' half of grumpy/sunshine? That's how it seemed to me. Her family was pretty wretched, except her grandfather. Also, the audiobook narrator didn't help with the over-the-top drama. Some of the voices were exaggerated to the point of silliness in some cases (Fiona comes to mind).

I did like the grief plotlines. It integrated a lot of the characters together in a common feeling and tangle the relationships up a little bit. That was the part of this book that shined the brightest for me.

If you really like goofy high-drama stories, you might enjoy it. In my opinion, there are far better holiday stories to invest your time into.

I did get an advanced listening copy from netgalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.
