Years ago there was a wonderful blog called 'If Patroklos Was a Popstar' (it turns out it's still there, though hasn't been updated since 2010 - https://popstarpatroklos.blogspot.com...) with posts which retold and riffed on the ancient Greek myths. It had a lot of style and chutzpah.
The short stories in this collection reminded me of that blog - especially 'The Achilles Wheel' which imagines the hero, generations later, working as a bus driver in a tourist hotspot. While the tone & approach of the different contributors varies, throughout there is an impressive depth of knowledge & affection for the mythology. The book also has some non-fiction chapters exploring the myths about Achilles. All wrapped up in a rather glitzy hardback with ribbons, shiny spredges and gold foil.
If I have a minor criticism, it's that there is slight danger of Achilles fatigue - after bingeing a few stories, I had to slow down a bit, and mix this in with some other books.
