My aim for 2023 is to start reading books consistently again and to hold myself accountable for this, I will now start reviewing books (probably very poorly but it is a start).
Starting off 2023 with a massive flop, this book just didn't cut it for me. My original rating was 2-stars, I've downgraded to 1-star, but upgraded back to 2-star (still on the fence about this one but have gone with my original gut instinct). It was in interesting premise but was poorly executed. I didn't find the writing style to my taste, and with it being a first-person narrative I was truly trapped into the head of a character who was dull and unrelatable. The first two-thirds of the book was so boring and while the pace picked up near the end, I was left with a very unsatisfying conclusion.
I found myself bored and almost quit reading multiple times. For a short book that should have only taken me a day or two to read, this ended up being stretched out over weeks for me to finish as it put me off reading entirely.
Removed from my bookshelf, don't think I will be trying anything else from this author.
