Jacob I wake up not knowing where I am, but quickly find out I'm in hell. No, not actual hell, but it may as well be. I'm greeted by Master Elder who tells me my life has just changed for the absolute worse. I'm part of The Order now. No, not an initiate, but something way worse. I'm a tool for the Elders. I have to do what they say. Kill who they want. Or I'll be the one on the chopping block. When I'm given an impossible task, I'm faced with the choice of life or love. With such an impossible decision, what will I choose?
Wyatt I wake up to find Jacob is missing. I don't know what happened or how I got here, but I worry Jacob has disappeared just like Thomas did. Have I lost the two people I care about the most, or is something far more sinister going on? I thought I was the Queen but maybe I'm just another pawn.

•ARC review• Book 2 of The Order of Orchids and Lions
The story resumes where we left off previously. Wyatt is still seeking for answers about the disappearance of Thomas while having to deal with the boys from the Pride, the Order and her two friends. All the while still pretending to be a boy. However, secrets begin to unravel. It ends on a cliffhanger, beware (😫!!!).
I like the story, the idea of Wyatt having to pretend to be a boy and confusing the boys because of it. I like the secret society aspect, the characters. I gave WABH 3.5 stars because I find that the execution is a bit juvenile (not a bad thing, it’s just less to my preference) and all of the boys and Wyatt are so slooooow to do things. With that being said, I will continue to read the series, I want to know what will happen and get answers (that cliffhanger!!??).
NB: As I was reading this, something kept nagging me at the back of my mind and eventually I put a finger on it: it gives me Ouran High School Host Club vibes, which is funny.
Omg that ending. I am feeling like this author loves a good jump scare or leaving people hanging! Man oh man!! Okay…so much to unpack.
Monty went from being a TOOL to being one of my favorites. He is totally giving golden retriever on crack vibes. When he declares he is gay and Wyatt is his boyfriend (no choice) and he just chases him around school and pinning him in different places it is comical.
Wyatt learns a lot about herself in this one. I liked the flashbacks. Not too long but enough to give us some backstory and gives us more of Thomas. More of why she is doing this. I liked that.
Jamieson was absolute chefs kiss! He brought them all together. He had the comedy, he had the angst, he had heartache. I won’t say more.
Jacob, beautiful Jacob. He struggled so much in this book and it broke my heart a little for him. But once Wyatt cracked through it was so nice to see how she was able to work through how they could get through things together.
That ending!!! I gasped! I honestly was getting a tattoo and flipped the page and then went back and forth three times before I realized that was it! I NEED MORE!! That definitely the sign of a good book when it leaves you wanting more.
This second book is definitely different from the first. It’s not as bully, it’s more mystery and story plot driven…at least for me. You learn a lot more in this one. I feel that the next book things will start to unravel and we will get to the good stuff!
Ahhh so I've been anticipating to read this book since I finished the first book of this series and I loved seeing Wyatt & Jacob's relationship progress and grow since the first book. They are so precious and.. the spice 👀 I absolutely love the secret society aspect of the book along with the mystery and action. Getting to know the other boys in the book was a treat as well and they are definitely growing on me. When a Boy Hungers is definitely different in comparison to the first installment, it was a very fun read that had not only spice but mystery elements. LOVED the ending and I'm the type of person who normally isn't a big fan of cliffhangers. It was executed really well! Looking forward to reading the next book and seeing what C.A Jay has up her sleeve next!!
Oh sweet Jacob, your book definitely delivers in the most delicious ways. The mystery and suspense is gut wrenching , the pain and vulnerability that you face while trying to protect the one you love .. *chefs kiss*
This book was incredible in all the right ways, it was spicy and they mystery takes top priority and sucks you in. You're on the edge trying to see what will happen next and not all is safe in love and war, T.O.O.L won't play fair and the stakes are high.. surviving isn't the only way to live and shit truly hits the fan in this second book , there's consequences and actions that you have to take , even if your morals try to fade your vision we alll have a price and that's where our true nature lies..
Wyatt, sweet boy/girl you have come a long way from the tiny little firecracker and I'm so glad that you're starting to embrace yourself and the absolute badass that you truly have the potential to be. But can your emotions play a big part or will this be your downfall.. guess we'll have to see.
Thomas, I can see why Wyatt loves you unconditionally in this story with what new info we found out.. I can see dressing up and pretending to be.boy to find out the truth of what happened even when her life is in danger.
Monty, you beautiful walking red flag of a teddy bear. I love you, and I cannot wait to see where your book leads us next. We left off on some much needed answers
The cliffhanger stole my breath and I'm practically begging for more . I cannot wait to see what the third book brings and the more answers it has for us

Picking up right where Book 1 left off, we dive back into the chaotic world of Jacob and Wyatt.
Jacob’s story is downright harrowing. He wakes up in what feels like hell, only to be told by the Master Elder that he’s now their puppet. The poor guy has to carry out their dark orders or face death himself. It’s gut-wrenching to see him torn between survival and his heart.
Meanwhile, Wyatt’s journey is just as intense. She wakes up to find Jacob missing and fears the worst. With Thomas already gone, the stakes couldn’t be higher. Wyatt is still juggling her double life, pretending to be a boy while uncovering more secrets about the Order and the Pride.
Wyatt’s secret identity keeps things interesting, especially with how it messes with the Pride and their confusion over their sexuality. Monty’s transformation from a jerk to a hilarious and loyal 'boyfriend' was a highlight for me. His antics, especially his public declarations about Wyatt, had me laughing out loud. Jameson, with his vibrant and sassy personality, adds a much-needed lightness to the dark plot.
That ending though – talk about a cliffhanger! I need the next book ASAP to find out what happens.
When a boy hungers is book 2 of the Order of the orchids and lions series, a why choose bully romance. This book is a continuation of series and can’t be read as a standalone, so starting with When a girl preys is required. Continuing on from where book 1 left off, Wyatt is still in search of answers about the disappearance of Thomas while dealing with the boys of the Pride. This book contains scenes and topics that may be sensitive to some so check the CW/TW before diving in.
I enjoyed this addition to the order of the orchids and lions, I think C.A. Jay continues to do a really good job with the characters and plot, I did feel book 2 was less bully romance and more mystery and suspense, which I enjoyed. I also enjoy the multiple POV seeing everyone’s different perspectives just brings more to the story. Overall this was a good addition to the series. Be warned just like book 1 we are left on a cliffhanger ending, though it just makes me more excited to see what happens next in book 3.

I devoured this. I could not put it down! The second in the series and it just keeps getting better and better.
With this being a why choose, there’s some aspects of it that are a slow burn, whereas other parts are a smut slap to the face and I am here for it.
In addition to this, it has a great plot. I’m loving the different POVs and themes throughout. Despite it being quite heavy on one of the triggers, there are some funny scenes and ones where you cringe for the characters.
It’s brilliantly written and I am neeeeeed the next one like I need my coffee in the morning! Would 1000% recommend this series and I cannot wait for the next one!

No dang way did this end the way it did. I need book 3 like yesterday omg!!! This was so good though. Book 1 was great, this was amazing. The spíce intensified, the plot thickened, the twists and turns threw me around like a rag doll. It was just phenomenal. I never wanted to put it down. Wyatt and the guys just have a way with dragging you in and always wanting to know what happens next. I highly recommend this!
Wow, what did I just read? That was action packed from the beginning. I couldn’t put it down. I like how much Wyatt has changed and grown into her role and is standing up for herself and what she wants. I was heart broken for Jacob for how his story progressed, all he wanted to do was protect that girl and he's going through so much crap because of it. It's amusing with how the Pride can't quite figure out why they have feelings for a guy. That ending though, my god, I need the next one like yesterday.
Wow! I need more!!! This was so good! It picks up where book one left off and I couldn't put it down. Wyatt is becoming more entangled with guys, especially Jacob. Monty is obsessed, and Ulysses and Percy are getting there. There are some revelations and also a tragedy that we don't see the outcome of yet. I'm so obsessed with this series and can't wait for the next book, especially after this cliffhanger! Omg!!! I have no words and definitely did not see that coming! I definitely recommend this book and series!
When a Boy Hungers (The Order of Orchids and Lions, Book 2) by C. A. Jay is a dark romance. What a wild ride this book is. So we pick up where we left off from book 1 and I am sure you know now read book 1 first. Wyatt is wrapped in so many stories I can keep them straight. Most importantly she has two friends now missing and she is still dealing with the pretense of her pretending to be a boy.
I really like the story arc and can not wait to see what happens next. The story line is different and definitely intriguing. I am excited to see where the author is taking things.
Wyatt’s story is a unique concept. Undercover at an all boys academy to find her best friend who went missing the previous school year, she is going through some very trying times. The first few chapters are nerve wrecking but slow down and didn’t seem to progress quickly but around 45 the story re-ramps up.
We’re given a lot of seemingly unimportant information but it all kind of clicks together throughout which is always fun piecing together some interesting puzzles.
I don’t loveeee cliff hangers, but I’m definitely interested in finding out more in the next book.
OMG I just can't!!! The anxiety I had reading this second book, knowing that as the pages past by that there would not be a conclusion at the end and I'd be waiting for book three!! ARGH!!! This book series has me in a chokehold and all will be Kindle trophies on my bookshelf! I connect with all of these characters for different reasons, some of them just deserve my hatred LOL. But the cliffhanger at the end with Wyatt had me screaming!! I can't wait to read the conclusion! You MUST read these!!!
This series will capture you and wanting more. I found myself right at the end of of the book saying to myself " NO NO NO WAY! "
This 2nd book had me from start to end. A few laughs in between and oh my word the spice! Hotter then Carolina Reapers! I can't wait for book 3 to see where the story goes.
Wyatt and Jameson have me in giggles while Wyatt/Monty/Jacob ...... well they make me want to melt awayyyyyy. C.A Jay you're AWESOME ! Thanks for sharing and looking forward to reading more from you!
This book picked up right where we left Wyatt and Jacob – thanks for that C.A. Jay…I need to come off that cliff! Jacob finds himself in a serious problem, whilst Wyatt is continuing to hide herself, disguised as a boy. This disguise doesn’t trick Monty though, and after proclaiming her as his “boyfriend”, he proceeds to follow her around like an obsessed loyal puppy – and protecting her disguise. But what about Jacob? And Thomas? Will Jacob face the same fate? Can Wyatt save Jacob before its too late? Not saying anymore but know this, I’m back on that cliff and need book 3!!! Oh, and Monty isn’t the only one watching and desiring…
I enjoyed reading this book. Once I started reading When A Boy Hungers, I didn't want to put it down. I wanted to keep reading so I could see what was going to happen next. The characters are great and the storyline hooked me from the start. I don't want to spoil this book for anyone, so I won't go into details. Please read the book blurb for some information about the book. I recommend reading this book! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

I was itching to get my hands on this book with how the first book ended and man was it worth the wait! I couldn’t put this baby down and just devoured it in a day. We were left needing some answers and boy do we get them but I also have a lot more questions now… especially after that cliffy! Rewind, things start steamrolling with Monty and the other three arent far behind. But the spicy scenes are spicin! Loved absolutely everything about this book. I need more!
Ok I read the first and will admit I wasn’t overwhelmingly impressed but it’s literally gotten better each and every chapter. I am invested and I can’t wait for the next book to come out. My biggest gripe is all the typos in here. I hope there are better editors next time around. But otherwise a solid 4 star read!
This was a continuation from When a Girl Preys, so you must read book 1 first. This book was just as good, more spice which was great! And Jacob…. I just don’t have the words for him. Protector, lover, best friend…wowza. There is more interaction between Wyatt and the Pride guys (Monty, Ulysses, Percy), and I am anxious to see where that goes for sure. The ending though!!!
That cliffhanger! I swear C.A knows how to make our jaws drop and leave us hanging. I loved this! The characters development and the relationships were written so well. I absolutely love Jameson. The slow burn spice is great. I cannot wait for the next book, this is definitely becoming one of my favorite series!
I would have rated it 5 stars, but there were a few inconsistencies. I adore this series, and I can’t wait for the next book.
Wyatt finally got with one of the guys! I’m happy she lost it to Jacob, and not Monty… although I can’t wait to read more about her relationship with The Pride. Also RUDE to leave such a cliffhanger!

If you like your series dark, with characters who are deranged, twisted or just trying to survive, bullies, secrets, secret societies and bad boys, read on... Best read as part of the series to understand all that is going on.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is book 2 which continues where the first book left off. It's the first series I've read from this author and I'm loving it! The book ends on a cliff hanger that had me on pins and needles for the next book.

So, I’m all here for a build up RIGHT. Righttt, I’m good with a nice slow burn BUT MAN BOOK THREE ISNT OUT SO TO BE BROUGHT UP ALL THE WAY THERE, just letting left on the good part, I COME TO FIND OUT THAT BOOK THREE AINT EVEN OUT. Idk how to feel. Like sorry not sorry, I feel let down and like I couldn’t avoided this feeling if I’d know it wasn’t out. Will it ever be out?😔
Wow I am invested in this series. Way to reel me in C.A. Jay!!! This series has been a complete and utter mess but I love it. The cliffhanger at the end. Rushing to read the next.
Wow!! The dark and shady secrets just keep adding up. Wyatt’s secret is uncovered by several of the guys. Master Elder is still a gross and dangerous man with mystery surrounding him. And the end?? OMG! Let’s just say that’s one hell of a cliffhanger!!
