Review 3.5 stars!
This was a very fast paced read, you can binge it in a day. It’s action packed and plot driven. The story is told in third person though which did take me a bit to get used to!
We follow two spies, Amber & Hailey, with psychic powers (such as invisibility and telekinesis!). As they investigate potential threats to the Queen. They soon begin to realize that their entire operation was way more than they bargained for. The book is filled to the brim with suspense, & it reads kind of like a murder mystery. There are shocking plot twists full of family drama and treachery. I feel like this book combines everything, espionage, fantasy, sci-fi and even romance. It’s a thrilling short read and I’m excited to see upcoming works by this author!

The book is set in an alternative world where every country is united and under the rule of the powerful Vanderwink family. We follow spirit agents Hailey and Amber as they uncover a plot against Queen Lauren and try to save her life. Meanwhile they face betrayal and struggle within their own agency.
The blurb intrigued me. It’s a unique and fascinating concept with a CIA alike cooperation, but agents that have psychic powers like telekinesis and mind reading. In addition there’s demons - dragons, harpies, fallen angels etc.
The book is short and fast-paced. At times I felt a bit confused because things weren’t explained well enough. Though the world-building was good suddenly a new creature appeared without being introduced properly. Same goes for some psychic powers that conveniently appeared at the end of the novel. The plot may have suffered a bit because of the length, but since this is the first book in a series I’m sure we’ll see further development.
That said I thought the story was fun and easy to read. It kept my attention and though I guessed the some of the major plot twists early on, there were some minor that caught me off guard. Hailey and Amber was badass. They weren’t afraid of repercussions from their agency if they went out of line or broke protocol. They always had other people’s safety as their number one priority. The betrayal in the novel was surprising and entertaining. Especially beacuse if the end. Read and you’ll understand what I mean 🤭
I think it was a good start to a series and I’d be interested in seeing how things progress for our agents. It was a quick and fun read. Thank you for gifting me a copy of your book Chance!

I read this book as a gift from the author, and I’m so glad I picked this up! It’s not typically what I gravitate toward, but I may have to start reading more books like this. I had a really great time reading it!
The central storyline follows two special agents with psychic abilities as they try to protect the Queen from assassination attempts. There are other political pieces at play, and the agents are trying to protect good from evil. The book is super twisty and I was always guessing what would happen next.
I also felt very nostalgic reading this as it’s definitely something I would’ve enjoyed when I was younger, so the story can be enjoyed by both adults and teens! The book is also super quick and you can definitely binge it in a day. I didn’t feel super connected to the characters because it was very action-packed and plot-focused, but I will definitely be picking up the sequel when Chance Alexander publishes it. I would like to thank the author for giving me the opportunity to read this book! I really enjoyed the quick read that focused on psychic agents working to protect the kingdom and those in power. I finished this book in a day and wished there had been more! Would’ve loved to have more insight into the main characters and their development as well as their psychic abilities. Wish the book wouldn’t have ended so soon. Looking forward to reading the sequel!

Hailey and Amber are spirit agents, working to protect the Queen from evil or possibly sabotage and traitors. As Hailey and Amber work to keep her safe, they unravel a web of high stakes decisions and betrayal.
I thought this was a very fun debut! I liked the chemistry and communication between Hailey and Amber. They felt like people that could have genuinely worked together for years, and they have learned to tolerate and accept each others quirks and frustrations.
The action in this novel was spot on. It’s not super long, but the twists and fighting scenes are aplenty. It kept me turning the pages as I wanted to see the outcome of each occurrence. And some of these fights and intense scenes end incredibly unexpectedly. There were so many surprising twists that I wish I could write about, but I will this review spoiler free!
I wish there had been a little more fleshing out of the world. I was really intrigued by this monarchy and country that was created, and I found myself left with some questions as to how it all works and how it came to be. This little addition would have really helped to fully immerse me in the book.
Overall, if you want a fun and quick debut with some supernatural elements and lots of criminal excitement you’ve got to check this one out!

I haven’t read a lot of fantasy/sci-fi books but I liked the look of this one which the author, Chance, very kindly sent over for me to read.
Agents Hailey Shepherd and Amber Knight are on a mission to find the traitor who is plotting the downfall of Queen Lauren. They set out to investigate in a dangerous world amid dragons, ogres, minotaurs… where their invisibility and telepathy skills help keep them safe.
It’s a short but fast-paced story and I enjoyed reading it. There’s a lot going on, many twists and turns, so it keeps you hooked throughout. I think it’s probably aimed at younger adults but I’m glad I had the chance to read it.

Immediately, Chance Alexander introduces us to the world of spirits and psychic powers. The cover and blurb remind me of being a teen. This is the sort of book I would have selected off a bookshelf. This is an immersive concept which a reader can appreciate. I was drawn to the innovative premise of this book. The world-building element of this read is strong, with many elements combining to form a strong foundation for future books. It was easy to visualise what was being described. At times, it felt like the plot required more support. For example, many things were mentioned but not as many elaborated on. In some cases, this made the book hard to follow. Certain elements are mentioned but the shortness of the book didn’t allow for elaboration which is required to fully appreciate the world and characters. However, as a first novel, this creates a promising opportunity for future books, and also the chance for a prequel which would really benefit this series. For example, why is the world in this current regime?
Overall, this is a fast-paced supernatural action thriller, which can be read in a day. The ideas of psychic agents coupled with a royalist focus is unique and well-thought. We are introduced to a wide range of characters which is great. It is worth mentioning that in some cases, the character building was lacking depth, likely due to the length of the book. This book would benefit from less side characters and more character depth. The emotional elements suffer as a result. For example, Hailie’s relationship with Evan. One minute she’s deeply in love with Evan, the next minute she kills Evan - this change seems to be very rapid and makes it hard to engage with characters feelings. I was begging
The strongest thing about this book is the plot - it is a great platform to work on and with, particularly in future novels. The fresh concept is intriguing and gripping. I LOVED the twists. The author clearly has tremendous creativity and the ability to write a great novel. I hope that with future novels we can see a focus on developing these ideas over a period of time. Very exciting future indeed ☺️

In ‘Spirit Agents, Operation: Downfall’ we follow the story of two psychic spirit agents, Hailey & Amber as they navigate their duties of staying loyal to the kingdom & protecting the Queen. As they find out, not all is at it seems & not everyone can be trusted…including those who hold positions of power. Will Hailey & Amber be able to hold true and keep their oath? Or will they uncover dark secrets that change everything?
This was definitely a more futuristic, sci-fi, thriller packed book than I would typically pick up but it was a nice, quick read. The concept overall was definitely interesting & different! The only thing holding me back from giving the book a higher rating is that I wish there would have been a little more character & world building. There’s definitely a lot going on in the book and a lot to keep up with so I just wish I would have had a little bit more detail about the ways of the world this book was set in. If you’re interested in the more sci-fi, futuristic, action packed books I definitely think it’s a book you should check out!

The only thing holding me back from giving the book a higher rating is that I wish there would have been a little more character & world building. There’s definitely a lot going on in the book and a lot to keep up with so I just wish I would have had a little bit more detail about the ways of the world this book was set in. If you’re interested in the more sci-fi, futuristic, action packed books I definitely think it’s a book you should check out!

A war rages between humanity and demonic entities seeing Queen Lauren being plotted against. Spirit agents, who have psychic powers, Haley and Amber are tasked with overthrowing the plot to assassinate the Queen and protect humanity. Who is conspiring against the throne? And will Amber and Haley uncover the plot in time?
This book is aimed at a younger audience and young me would have loved it. There is so much potential in this book, with a great plot and characters however, I felt that there was so much going on in so little time that it was difficult to really be engaged in the book. The ending felt very abrupt and many things were revealed that I did not get the time to be shocked at as something else was happening instantly, which unfortunately made it unbelievable. I believe that if this book was a full novel, that would give it time for Alexander to thoroughly world build to bring his readers in and to develop the characters making it an overall more enjoyable read.
Alexander builds tension with short chapters and cliffhangers intertwined within chapters making you want to read on. The writing is easy to understand making this a quick and enjoyable read suitable for younger audiences.
Overall, if you’re looking for a quick read with strong female characters brimming with futuristic fantasy, then give this book a read.

Woah.... What a journey this book was!!
Spirit Agents is a very fast paced spy thriller novel. The world building was totally unique. I felt like it was a bit Sci-fi too ( I think this will make a good Animation too). You get Dragons, Goblins, Fallen Angels and mention of various other creatures, describing the chaos of the world and the war ahead.
In this situation, Hailey and Amber are given a mission named " Operation: Downfall ".
The way they revealed everything was thrilling and Their badass attitudes were perfect. Not to mention their psychic ability.
It took a bit of time to get into this book and the world building. Also, I felt like some places could work with a bit more details. Like the full potential of Hailey and Amber's abilities are not revealed until the very end, which was a bit confusing for me. But, the twists and turns along with betrayals were worth it.
This is a good starting for a series and I would love to find out what happens next.

Huh.. the idea for the story is interesting, so that's my only thing for rating it a 3stars, and with some tweaking it could be good kid/teen netflix series.. that being said, it took me a lot to go through the book, even though it's pretty short one.. writting style isn't my thing, there is almost none of the world building, none of explaining what's happening and powers.. there are humans, all world united under one family, demons, which are basically all supernatural creatures, and people with psychic powers, spirits agents.. why is there a war when none of this demons seems to be attacking, where does the powers from the spirit agents come from, and why they have every power that they need at that moment? There is a lot of ground breaking discoveries, and they all just gasps and agrees with whats happening, no matter how bad or what.. there's lots of repetitive phrases and words and that too exhausted me... not saying it's a bad book, idea is good, but it eithers need more details and editing, or it's just for the much younger audience..

This one’s a little outside the realm of my usual reads, but I really enjoyed it! It was fast paced the entire way! For such a little book it sure packed a punch! I finished it in one sitting!

Grateful to the author for letting me read this! The premise really interested me, and then I was hooked from the action scene in the first chapter . It was very fast-paced and so I got through it quite quickly, and the action parts of the story didn't disappoint. It's a world full of dragons, giants, demons, and I feel like it would've been really fun to have delved more into detail about them when they came up. I appreciated the many twists that popped up, but there was one specific one that didn't really feel like a twist because I thought Hailey and Amber would've gotten it straight away. Despite that, it was a fun read and definitely a book I'd recommend to someone who wants to start out their journey in reading fantasy/sci-fi.

This was a fast paced read!! The world depicted is different and unexpected. I particularly enjoyed the cross with technology and magic in the same world. The storyline and plot were very interesting and unique. I didn’t see the twist coming!!
I wish I could have seen more world building and character development. The main characters made a huge discovery that would have most questioning everything. I also would have liked more detail and descriptions about the powers of the main characters.
Overall, I really enjoyed the story and characters. I think it would do really well as a full novel but it was a fun, quick read!!

This book was just wow! It’s a very fast paced action packed book and it was well written all throughout. The description on details and the way it was described really made me picture everything in my head easily. Because of the author’s writing style, I felt like I didn’t struggle at all which made it an easy read for me. The end was left in a cliffhanger and it made me want to know more now 😂

Chance Alexander has mastered the art of "don't let them guess your next move." Never in my wildest dreams would I have guessed this book would have elements of fantasy. I expected some FBI action, maybe some car chases. Not dragons, ogres, a battle between good and evil, a hovercar, psychic abilities, and the list just goes on and on. What an enjoyable and crafty read. I would recommend this, yes.

The plot of Spirit Agents had me very intrigued and was set up to be very interesting. I understand where it's a psychic thriller with the assassination attempt on the ruling monarch. However, it was a little juvenile for my taste, as a 30 year old, but that doesn't mean it wasn't good. I would certainly recommend it to a younger audience and I know they would really enjoy it. There is hope when you start to see the betrayals that maybe the main characters have it wrong and that adds to the suspense.

And this is also a combination of fantasy where there are demons and vampires together in human world.
