Bob Blanton has been an avid reader ever since his mother first took him to a library at age five. He has toyed with writing for years since college but was always too busy to start a novel. The "stone series" developed almost by itself as he was trying to sleep on long flights to Asia and Europe. He managed to write it and two follow-on novels while he was working, but never had the time to polish them. After he retired to the beach in Mexico, the only thing that competes with writing is the sound of the ocean and sunsets over the water. Now that he has published his series, he hopes you enjoy reading them as much as he has had writing them. Check back for other books as he continues to ply his new trade.
Now that he has published his series, he hopes you enjoy reading about Matthew and his developing powers as much as he has enjoyed writing about them.
I want to preface this by saying I love Bob Blanton’s books. I’ve taken an interest in his career, read several of his interviews and spoken on social media. I also understand he’s happily retired and writes for leisure.
I got into the series in early 2022 when things were hot and a new edition was added every quarter. I felt like a pig how quickly I was consuming this series and the ideas that Mr. Blanton wrote were so fresh and creative. However, now it seems the passion for this series is dimming; suffering from an over expansion of characters and locations, the stories are becoming rather one-dimensional. Book 18 feels like a filler episode for a TV show, except the TV show went from airing a new episode every Friday, to once every couple of months, and lost its writers; I see this as a reflection of Mr. Blanton’s passion for this series itself.
I'm one of those who will keep going once I'm "invested" in a series. Besides, I was going on a long trip back in September, so I downloaded the rest of the series to my Kindle. It did help me go through the long hours of flight between Asia and LAX.
TBH, the last few books were not as exciting as the first five or eight.
+ - Points for: + additional "source" of jump-drive + whole-ship-flash-cannon. Kinda cool... but the power requirement would be huge. - too many "moving jump point" strategy, which I thought was gonna pop up even before Catie came up with it.
ps: enlist me as beta-reader. I've been marking and submitting "typos" to fix :D
In this episode, several main characters decide to leave the stage. Will they be back? I won’t know until the next book, but the title makes me think the story goes on.
In this episode we have some terrific challenges. Can we add and subtract speed through wormholes? Can we reduce the jump limit? Can we keep our new neighbors at arms length?
All this and a kidnapping. A fine addition to the series.
This series is, unfortunately, going downhill. The page count is down, descriptions are more sparse, and encounters are lacking engagement. It is almost like Blanton is either losing his care for the world and characters in it, or he's rushing things to get a minimum-word count book out to cash in. I hate to see the decline of the series, but it seems that success has bred problems here. I hope that he gets back to the good storytelling he started with.
Lots of movement and adaptations in this installment, few new characters but additional details for many existing characters. The storyline moves quickly, and decisively but overall was not as long or involved as this reader had hoped. This installment ends with a new mystery to launch the next installment.
I really enjoy this series but one criticism is the cardboard nature of the characters and the fact that Delphi always wins handily. This time around there seems to be some actual peril for Catie. I just wish a grown woman didn’t still call her parents Mommy and Daddy. Seems too juvenile.
I was so glad to get the latest installment of Delphi in Space in the series. I hate that it was so far between the last book and this book. But I enjoy getting to know the characters again. I enjoy the interaction between all of the major characters. I hope this will not be the last installment to the series.
I really wish Catie would mature into an adult. What was cute in a spoiled rotten 12 year old is acceptable... Barely. But in this book she is in her 20's and still pulls stupid stunts.
The book kept my interest start to finish. I wish it were longer since now I have to wait for the next one to come out.maybe next time the character interactions could be expanded to give me background on the secondary characters.
This story of a guy finding an alien ship and using his findings to create a space nation. In this book his daughter prevents some bad dudes from getting competitive tech. She’s kidnapped again. She’s done being a princess. Takes off on her own. Great Stuff
I love your books! You threw in an unexpected twist with this latest kidnapping of Catie. Did not see it coming. As always, it’s going your way be heck waiting for the next one to come out. Keep up the great work. 😁
Catie is up to her usual tricks, solving problems, innovating, and making money. There are a few bumps along the way but her family helps out. A great story.
Casie gets involved in adventure again. Pirates, invasion, and. Kidnapping ensue. I like the action, humor, and intrigue. I look forward to the next book.
Delphi Crossroads is a Major departure for the series. It's only purpose is to add to the book count. If Mr Blanton continues with this practice I will Not be a fan or future reader.
The book is very short and ends in the middle of the "story". Thinking about the series and the decision of the author to publish this, I am Done and will no longer be following this author.
I hope that the author enjoys however much this book brings him and maybe other fans will be more forgiving.
This one was not as good as most of the others but still way enter than most. There is no indication or hint of a continuing story which sucks. It didn’t end, really, it just stopped. There is a hint of a #19 but nothing official. Similar to the hiatus between 17 & 18. Bob Blanton has an amazing mind, the characters are all very real. It is also a female centric ook which is different for this genre. Really really want a logical ending, not just a step in a dark tunnel.
