A Solar Flare leaves a small northeastern town in ruins, with no assistance from the government, military, or law enforcement.
In a powerless, desolate small town, Becky and Micah struggle to find essential supplies amidst looted stores and abandoned homes. With hope dwindling, they embark on a perilous journey through the wreckage, driven by a faint glimmer of survival. Each step reveals the harsh reality of their world and the relentless spirit needed to endure. This is a gripping tale of resilience and determination in the face of desolation.
Character development needs work, too much juvenile posturing. Too much repetitive phrasing, such as how Becky feels about having to kill the bad men and really how she feels about anything at all. I read a lot of this type of fiction and you just know when it's well written.
The more apocalyptic stories I read, the more the genre has switched from a totally violent uprising to a binding of community. Strength and survival comes from working together. Very enjoyable story and too uncomfortably believable!
Family is not by blood alone but going through hardships and life threatening event . These manage to fight together I hope we never face an apocalypse but hope we could face it with these characters strength and caracer.
This was a nice easy listen, nothing really stood out as irritating - it was just a good cosy post apocalyse listen and well narrated. The author and narrator are a good match.
