In seventh grade, she broke up with me over some stupid inking that I liked cheerleaders over nerdy blondes.

She’s dead wrong.

Yet, I allowed her imagination to run with it, watching her along the way until she dated my rival—someone who definitely didn’t deserve her.

Fast forward to current day, and she’s open season, single, available, and mine.

And there’s only one way she won’t run away—by tutoring me.

So I purposely bomb a class, which leads her to no choice but to be within a few feet of me.

See, Magnolia Burrows underestimates what I want.

And I want her.

Trick Play is a 24K piece that used to be within the "Jocks" anthology. This is a standalone piece.

Hazel Grace is an avid music lover, an undefined human being, and hardcore Oakland Raiders fan from the mitten state of Michigan.
Always surprising her readers with weird Michigan sayings (they have their own cuss words) and writing "what the f*ck" storylines.
When she's not writing, she's on Spotify finding new bands, working on her Camaro or watching shows with her kids with annoying songs attached to them.

Another Manwhore MMC who supposedly been obsessed/in love with the FMC, but stepped around with half the population, including her friends. And to make matters worse, he said he did it to get her attention. I honestly don’t understand that logic because in what world would that make her want you? Like if you knew you were gonna end up with her at the end of the day then why not save yourself for her? I see many women do for men.

Plus I felt like I was I walked in to a room mid movie/Conversation. I felt lost. Wish there was some flashbacks or something.

The Long Haul

This was such a fun read! Asher is swoony for sure! This is a high school sports romance, but at 18 they don’t read whiny and immature.

Asher and Magnolia (Mags) have the slight enemies to lovers vibes to go along with their small town, second chance romance. Mags is the nerdy artist type who has recently broken up with a fellow football teammate of Asher’s, who ironically is a rival to him. Mags finds herself tutoring Asher, but comes to find out he only did it to get close to her. She’s been avoiding him for years but Asher is pulling out all the stops to get her back.

I absolutely loved the Clemson vs Gamecock rivalry as I’m from SC and a huge Gamecock fan! Mag’s dad is the sweetest and I adore how much of a girl dad he is and how close their relationship is after losing her mom. I also really liked how her dad welcomes Asher and as a southern girl whose dad’s opinion of her guys matter, it warmed my heart for them.

This is a really sweet story and Asher gives all the he falls first, it’s always been you, mine vibes and I am here for it all! They have some steamy moments but they don’t take it all the way until Mags is on board to really date Asher. Their chemistry is perfect and I love their banter. Mags knows she’s a goner for him but I love how she makes him work for it. Asher knows she wants him as well but he loves to show her how he was wanted her for years. She doesn’t want to be seen, yet he’s always seen her. The steam does sizzle towards the end and I would love to have more of these characters again!

Short

This book was just ok for me. Now, before you hate on me, yes, I knew it was going to be a short story. However, it felt like there were missing pieces. Like being dropped into the middle of a conversation. You have no idea how or what happened to cause all this. Or like only getting the highlights of some drama. Then there were a few typos. I really wouldn't recommend it. On to the next!

Hail Mary Play

A perfect little read since the Super Bowl is right around the corner.

Tropes

- Athlete x Artist
- Forced Proximity
- He’s Obsessed
- Second Chance

Boy pretends to fail only to get the girl of his dreams to tutor him. Perfect plan, perfect setup, perfect execution. A super cute and short story of high schoolers in love. If you’re in need for a palette cleanser or you feel like you’re in a slump this a great quickie to reset your brain.

Short but 🌶️

I am not new to Hazel Graces work. After reading another series, I thought I would give her other books a shot. This is short and sweet. Hometown football god and the friendly art student love story. This is short and very fast paced. Cute and funny. Loved it

3.5 ⭐️

This gave Jessa Kane a little bit, and I mean that as a compliment. He was just OBSESSED and even if it didn’t make sense or was extra, it was just fun. It wasn’t perfect, but I enjoyed it.
