Would you trust the Djinn of Lust with your body?

C. L. Qvam has been lost and found on several occasions, and this time she’s been found by you!

Drawn to everything British and lore infused stories that explore the morally grey, Chase moved across the pond at a young age to write the story in her heart. Since then, the mixed-race Norwegian author has identified as an English rose and defies the barriers of her first language and dyslexia to write in her preferred language on the daily.

While pieces of her debut trilogy was drafted and written all over the world, Chase is now working on new Fantasy Romance series back home in Norway, living with a very patient boyfriend and furbaby.

When she’s not writing, she spends her time illustrating the stories in her head, recovering from a rough start at life, and checking her dms for unhinged reader reactions.

4.5⭐️ for this amazing book!
Kiera and Elijah are a very interesting couple whose adventures kept me hooked to the last word. Simply put, life got in the way of me reading this book quicker than I did.
I just loved the positive female sexual exploration written into this novel, it isn't over powering but the message is strong.

I did feel thr ending was slightly rushed though? I would've liked this book to be somewhat longer but overall, this is an amazing read.

I received an advance review copy for free from booksirens.com, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I've been told authors should be the first to review their own books (you learn something every day, and in Keira's case most nights) so here we go, trying it out! 👀

I absolutely can't wait for you to meet Elijah and Keira! I had a lot of fun writing this book, and I can confidently say that it'll be the first of many more open-door romantasy books to come. 🍑✨

PS: As always, you'll find content warnings at the front of the book and on my site: https://chase.qvamington.com/contentw...

This book has mature content and explicit spice with a focus on the emotional aspect. Reader discretion is advised 🫶🏼

This takes readers on a surprisingly sweet and empowering journey, centered around a young woman’s self-discovery and the exploration of her desires, all wrapped up in a spicy romantasy. Keira, a heartbroken young woman, enlists the help of a djinn to win back her beloved. It sets the stage for what could have been a typical fantasy romance story. However, it quickly becomes something deeper.

Keira's journey is one of personal liberation. Her struggle to outgrow societal expectations and explore her own desires gives her a more complex arc than I expected. While she doesn’t always make the best decisions, they feel authentic to her naive character, which makes her growth all the more satisfying. And Elijah! The Djinn of Lust was unexpectedly tender and supportive. He’s not tempting Keira, but also helping her grow into a stronger, more confident version of herself. The balance between his playful nature and genuine care for Keira made him a great character.

The romance itself is not just about the physical connection - although the spice is certainly well done - but about emotional intimacy, consent, and empowerment. It was refreshing to see a story where a woman’s sexual and personal liberation is celebrated without judgment. The chemistry between Keira and Elijah is great, but what makes it even better is the sense of respect and mutual growth. The tropes are fun here, but they also serve as a vehicle for deeper themes.

The world-building is kept light, but there's enough of a tease about the wider world to spark interest in Qvam’s other series. This is a fast-paced, character-driven story, but it's clear that the author has built a broader world behind the scenes, and I'm intrigued to see more of it.

The book has its darker moments, but it’s not as heavy as I anticipated given the themes of lust and the trigger warnings. Definitely check them, but I found the story to be much less concerning than I expected, and ultimately uplifting.

Overall, it’s a quick read with great characters, emotional depth, and just enough spice. If you're into romantasy with a strong heroine and a supportive, playful love interest with golden retriever vibes, this book will definitely hit the mark. Plus, it perfectly matches the vibes of its gorgeous cover.

Thanks to BOMM and the author for the complimentary pre-released copy and it is voluntary. All opinions are my own.

REVIEW: Heir of Sin by C.L Qvam

𝒲𝑜𝓊𝓁𝒹 𝓎𝑜𝓊 𝓉𝓇𝓊𝓈𝓉 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝒟𝒿𝒾𝓃𝓃 𝑜𝒻 𝐿𝓊𝓈𝓉 𝓌𝒾𝓉𝒽 𝓎𝑜𝓊𝓇 𝒷𝑜𝒹𝓎?

Firstly, a massive thank you to @bookofmatchesmedia and @chaselouiseqvam for sending me his ARC 🖤 I loved absolutely every bit of this book and cannot wait to read more of the Fallen Sins series in the future!

The dedication page encompasses this book perfectly, “To the women who were made to feel small so that the men would feel big, I give you Elijah.” This book and Kiera’s experiences really resonated with me and took me back to the earlier days in life where girls are promise a future by boys who pretend to be interested just so they could fulfil one need and one need only. We’ve all felt naive, we’ve all wondered how we missed the red flags and @chaselouiseqvam has masterfully encompassed real life troubles in a fantastical world with Djinns and Fae!

I honestly devoured this book, I didn’t want to put it down. Our FMC, Kiera was really quite naive at the start of the book and unfortunately even after being used kept going back to August, and it made me want to grab her and shake some sense into her! But I must say she went on an incredible journey of growth, she is pushed out of her comfort zone in more ways that one, by our MMC, Elijah, Djinn of Lust. I loved Elijah, he was funny and cheeky in all the best ways. I can’t wait to know more about him in future books!

This book certainly had spice but was written really tastefully (just like Elijah’s peaches 🍑 IYKYK). There were no cringey moments and Qvam’s wording in the spicer scenes was perfection!

Ultimately this was a really fun read filled with magic, heartbreak, female empowerment, djinn, witches and embracing your sexuality and learning your worth. Would highly recommend this book!

This was so much fun. This had a lot of world building for a book under 300 pages and I was enraptured from the start. The main character enlists the help of a Djinn so that she can marry the man she loves. I loved the concept of the Djinns and the wishes and the way their magic worked. The romance was really cute, I think this couple was a perfectly balanced match. The male main character was so sweet and funny and I couldn’t help but love him. I’m definitely looking forward to reading more from this author.

I absolutely devoured this book! I hadn't heard anything about it or this author before seeing the cover on netgalley and it piquing my interest, but I'm so glad that I requested it and was accepted. I was hooked from page one right up until the end and even after I finished it. It was a quick, fast-paced read that hit me in the emotions in way that I truly wasn't anticipating- but my word, did I love every second of it. Heir of Sin has everything a reader could possibly want in a book- magic, djinn, witches, betrayal, angst, heartbreak, healing, and so much more!

Ok, first a big thank you to the author and NerdFam for an ARC of this novel. It was such an enjoyable experience. Now, into my review!

You may be asking, “Jessica, if you loved this novel, why only 4 stars?”. Honestly? I wanted more and felt like I could have read so much more about the lore with Helena. I finished this book wanting more, like immediately.

That being said… Kiera and Elijah are just precious. He is fun and silly, she is spicy and strong-willed which is my favorite combination. I spent the entire book wanting to punch August in his stupid face and that was solidified at the end. Make sure to check it out!!!

I finished this a few days ago but wanted a little time to process and gather my thoughts before leaving a review. This book had a lot of good and a few things i didn’t like, let’s start with the positive.

The concept is great, 7 djinn that each embody one of the seven deadly sins, starting with lust. As you would expect this led to some really steamy scenes that were very hot. The main theme is sexual empowerment and it’s done really well and is a stand out feature of this book. While there is a lot of steamy it doesn’t take away from the plot which is strong on its own and the story moves at a fairly fast pace leading to it being a fairly quick read. The author also used some analogies and imagery that genuinely had me laughing out loud which always makes me enjoy a book more.

The issues I had with this book were mainly around the FMC, she was really immature and naive which at the start was ok, annoying but understandable and I was hoping for some really good growth. She did grow by the end of the book but it wasn’t that satisfying because she had made so many silly decisions along the way and actually did one thing that really annoyed me. She felt very much like a YA FMC, and I would even say the younger end of YA, but the story is very much adult so maybe that’s why I felt a disconnect. There were also chapters where i came away so confused, I had no idea what had just happened and things didn’t seem to make sense. I had to reread sections to try and follow along and in some cases rereading still didn’t help. I think the main reason for this is that information is dumped at a quick pace with so much being said that I didn’t process it all, but sometimes it didn’t make sense because it was just a plot hole.

I was very grateful to be given an arc of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review. She is genuinely lovely and I really wanted to rate this higher for her. I will add an addendum that I did have a negative experience in the arc reading group which I tried not to let affect my rating but the experience did affect my enjoyment of the book to the point that I considered not finishing. I have tried to be fair though and I think 3 stars is where i’m happy to sit, glad I read it but probably not going to continue the series

I received this e-arc from Netgalley

I’m incredibly torn on what to rate this… 2-2.5⭐️? This story would have been great as it has djinns that are the seven deadly sins. This one was about lust and it honestly just felt awkward as this felt low end of ya with spice which put me off(I cringed so hard when it said he grabbed her buttocks). There is really no world building, the FMC was frustrating with her choices and felt like there was little growth throughout the book. The romance just kind of happened. This was a third person pov where you can see fmcs thoughts and the whole story just felt like I was being told things were happening without actually feeling it if that makes sense. This is a short book but it felt like I took forever to read it. It had a lot of weird pacing where more things kept happening with little rhyme or reason. It could have been a better book if the author slowed down to really develop the characters and made them… interesting and less YA(insufferable)

Thank you so much to @chaselouiseqvam & @bookofmatchesmedia for my Advanced Reader Copy of 𝐇𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐢𝐧! This review is comprised entirely of my own thoughts & opinions, & is based on the copy I received.

AMAZING! So beautifully written, wonderfully empowering for any female to read, and a fast paced plot that kept me super engaged! I absolutely loved this book, and it was such a fast read! It’s on the shorter side, but I finished it in 2 sittings because I literally could not put it down. The plot and the romance were perfectly balanced, and I found the story to be very captivating. Keira and Elijah have the most AMAZING chemistry, and their story made me swoon so many times! I loved their interactions - their banter was just everything to me!

I loved Keira as a FMC - my heart went out to her in the beginning of this book. She’s put in a really horrid situation, and I just wanted to wrap her up in a hug. I love how Elijah never once made me her guilty or badly for the things that happened - he was so encouraging, patient, and compassionate with her, and I loved how they were both exactly what the other needed to grow and heal from their past. Elijah was exactly who Keira needed to help her see that she deserves so much more than what she originally thought she wanted, and seeing that slow realization through her perspective was beautifully portrayed! The tension between them was AMAZING and so perfectly written, I could feel the angst through the pages and I couldn’t get enough!

I loved the ending, I thought the action scenes were really well written and I could clearly see them in my mind! I liked getting to see more of Elijah’s siblings and I’m super intrigued by them! I can’t wait to read this series as the books come out because this one was seriously just so good! Can’t wait to see what’s in store for the rest of these sinful djinn siblings!

Thank you to the author and Book of Matches Media for the eARC copy to read and review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

3.75 stars

I thought this was a good and solid read. I read it pretty quickly, and it was quite interesting. The concept of the djinns and the Cardinal Seven were cool, and I liked how the characters were influenced both subtly and not by being around the djinns.

Keira was an interesting character. I liked seeing her grow to embrace her sexuality and sensuality, and I liked seeing her finally get some backbone to stand up to the men in her village who treated her horribly. Her puppy love for August was well written, and I was incredibly annoyed with how she refused to see his true character for so long, but I think that means the author did a good job depicting the relationship and getting into Keira’s head.

I liked Elijah, but I felt like we never actually got to know him. Even when he would tell Keira things they were always superficial, and we never dove deeper into his character. I did like his lessons for Keira, and all the suggestive winks and comments were amusing.

The romance was okay. It was much more lust than romance (which makes sense), but I didn’t really but it as a romance much. I just felt like there wasn’t much done to fully develop anything between the characters.

The world building was interesting, but a bit confusing. There were a lot of names thrown in at the end, and things would happen with magic that weren’t fully explained. Keira’s family is never fully explained, and I feel as if I have more questions after finishing the book.

The spicy scenes were decent, but they were more of the anticipation and build up and then we’d cut away. I also felt pulled out of the moment many times by some of the author’s phrasing and word choices. I know that the character was getting lessons on pleasure, but the scenes themselves read as a bit more instructional than really spicy.

Overall I thought the message of females enjoying and claiming their sensuality was done well, and I liked Keira’s character growth. This was a short and quick fantasy with some spice and romance.

These are the djinns I need in my life!

Heir of Sin is the first book in a new adult romantasy series of standalones where the Seven Deadly Sins are reimagined as djinns! This first book is dedicated to the djinn of Lust, and it follows Keira and Elijah. The former is a girl who's been warned about the dangers of trusting a djinn, but throws caution to the wind when her love is promised to another. The latter is the djinn she enlists to help her, one who will challenge her to step out of her comfort zone and who has a dangerous agenda of his own.

This book is a bit of a journey, and you have to stick with it to see the bigger picture. Despite being a short book, it feels like there are two stories in one. The first part was a little harder for me to get into. We meet Keira when she is a more naive, insecure version of herself (fair, given the new adult age classification). She loves August, but as a reader it's not hard to miss his numerous, unattractive red flags. If on the one side this made Keira's motivation hard to support, on the other we have Elijah, who wasn't only a delightful character, but also a man adamantly devoted to showing Keira that she was deserving of so much more that August was giving her. I loved their "lessons", and spicy romance readers will devour them too!

The second half of the book, instead, had a Keira that was much easier to appreciate--mistakes and all. I loved the romance in this part of the book! This section also had some interesting world building introduced. Much about the djinns is revealed, but there's still so much to learn in the next books, and I can't wait to see it happen!

Overall, this was a solid romantasy with some great banter and spicy moments that will certainly appeal to lovers of Kerri Maniscalco's Kingdom of the Wicked.

Oh BOY this book was advertised to me as Kingdom of the Wicked meets Once Upon a Broken Heart, but with djinn, and boy was that spot on and absolutely SO much FUN!!

This fast-paced story about Keira, a local orphan with a secret romance with local (very boring) cool guy, August, kicks off from the very start and never slows down. She thinks they're getting married, surprise surprise he's not on the same page, she calls a djinn out of a lamp to help her get what she wants, chaos ensues. The beauty in the story, however, is in the fact that the world, the characters, and the plot are all really well developed for being so fast and pretty short, nothing is sacrificed here. The missing pieces of djinn Elijah's story make sense, and everything comes out at the right time!!

I thought this was a great story about a woman realizing her worth, learning to never accept the bare minimum, and gaining strength by leaning on those around her that care about her. Despite feeling alone and struggling, Keira has people (even people she doesn't expect) checking in on her, caring for her, validating her. Her journey of self-discovery (not always led by self) was delightful!

Thank you so much to CL Qvam and NetGalley for a chance to read this in exchange for an honest review. I will definitely be seeking out the back catalogue of her writing now, and waiting to see what else we get from some of our other vices :)

“Heir of Sin” is the first book in the Fallen Sins series by C. L. Qvam, a romantasy set in a world where seven djinns embody the seven deadly sins - a concept that I found particularly intriguing! This installment focuses on Elijah, the djinn of lust, and the FMC, Kiera, who is hopelessly in love with the wrong man and seeks Elijah’s help.

At around 250 pages, Heir of Sin is a quick read, making it a great choice between longer books. The pacing is fast, but I did feel the ending was wrapped up a little too neatly and quickly. However, it left plenty of unanswered questions, which has me looking forward to book two!

As you’d expect from a story following the djinn of lust, there are a number of spicy scenes throughout. One thing I loved about this book is its underlying message of women reclaiming their sexuality, which felt like a powerful and refreshing theme. The storyline also touches on leaving unhealthy relationships, something I’d love to see more of in fantasy.

The characters are generally well-written, although some felt not fully fleshed out - likely due to the shorter length of the book. Unfortunately, I struggled to connect with the FMC, Kiera. Her immaturity and naivety, while understandable given her small-town background, led to some frustrating decisions, which made her feel younger than intended. This sometimes felt jarring with the spicy scenes and some plot developments.

Overall, Heir of Sin is an enjoyable read with a unique magic system, interesting world, and strong themes. I’m definitely curious to see what happens in book two! If you’re looking for a quick and spicy romantasy with a meaningful message, this is worth picking up.

3.5/4* rounded up
I am being mindful that this was an Arc and so will get another round of edits
There were some minor plot holes which should be fixed by release date
The story is about a girl in love with an arrogant vein manipulative guy who uses every excuse why they should keep seeing each other without committing wanting more and more while giving nothing in return
But when he ends up engaged to someone else she’s convinced this must be against his will so uses the help of a genie to win him back

This book is Spicy and I loved that
I loved Elijah and the book had some good representation
Though why she had the djinn go from dark skinned to light I don’t know but that is her choice
(He can change his appearance)
The book is about sexual exploration and empowerment and it handled it tastefully and well and at points I was like a cheerleader at the side like wooo go tell him
RESPECT ! but my bad singing aside
I think some plot points were confusing but I just went with it.
The story was interesting it wove in the idea of Djinn representing the seven deadly sins which is a cool
Concept and lust is a great one to start with
I would have liked to have seen more of Faerie and I don’t think this was explored enough but will probably be explored more later in the series
There were some stupid decisions made that weren’t always explained (like why put a cloak on a horse ) but those aside I enjoyed the book I enjoyed the characters and the start was really promising and the writing is good and the characters believable
Overall a solid start to a series that I’m sure will just improve with each one

“To the women who were made to feel small so that the men would feel big, I give you Elijah.”

The dedication for this book is a perfect reminder of the universal nature of so many of our FMC, Keira’s experiences. So much of what happens to her are situations that my friends or I have found ourselves in; and boy do I wish I had an Elijah to pick me up after some of them! I should have know that all we needed was more male genies written by women to cure us of the patriarchy.

Going into this, I figured the book was going to be a fun romp in the sheets and, truthfully, a little smutty. And don’t get me wrong, it was spicy! But it was also hella romantic and all around fun. Qvam’s word choice in the sexier scenes was great, none of the more embarrassing turns of phrases made their way into the book (thank god), and there is a real story arc hidden under all the steamy banter between Keira and Elijah. We’re also introduced to a few characters that will probably make appearances later in the series.

I’m really looking forward to reading the stories to come in Fallen Sins! Thank you to CL Qvam for the opportunity to read and review the book early.

This is one of those books where when I started reading I didn’t want put it down. The pacing is fast and the premise is unique. I feel like there’s a lot of room for exploring the magic system of this world in future books.

I loved the exploration of the theme of women coming into their own power. The FMC’s character arc you could tell was very well thought out and well written by the author.

I did feel like the introduction of Elijah was a little rushed and that we could have gotten to know him better and more in depth as a character earlier on in the story. I think this would have made his and Keira’s connection stronger in the beginning.

I kept thinking that if we had Elijah’s POV that the book would have been more well rounded. I needed more of his motivation and thoughts to make their connection more plausible.

Despite this missing piece of the story I couldn’t put the book down. The premise of the story is very captivating I just think the execution wasn’t quite there. But I’m excited to see where the author takes us in the story next.

Heir of Sin was jam packed with everything you would want in a book that is less than 300 pages! There’s magic, angst, heartbreak, female empowerment, djinn, witches and personal liberation from society’s standards.

This is a fast- paced character driven story, but it did not feel rushed like other standalone books
.
I enjoyed the story and it was definitely a great in between series type of read. While this is part of The Fallen Sins series, I am sure we’ll be introduced to the other “Sins,” and there will be some slight overlap, and I am all onboard for this.

This book is definitely spicy on the spice-o-meter, and I was expecting more insta romance/ insta lust, but I was proven wrong in the best way. C.L. Qvam did a wonderful job bringing forth the intimacy between Keira and Elijah as well as incorporating consent, and female empowerment.

This was a fun read, and I literally finished it in a day. I highly recommend for fans of Kingdom of the Wicked!

Thank you C.L. QVAM and Books of Matches Media for the gifted eARC.

Everytime I had to stop to complete the obligations of life while reading this book was a struggle. I had to know what was going to happen next!

Given the opportunity I would have devoured this book in one sitting. On one hand I wish I could have done that, on the other I'm glad I couldn't so I had more time with these characters, especially the delicious Elijah. I also loved Kiera and her growth in this book. I am so looking forward to continuing my journey with them. Fallen Sins Book 2 is already on my list of anticipated releases in 2025!

Besides having some juicy spice, fun in front of fireplaces, and him falling first, this NA Romantasy reminds us of the unconditional love, respect, and devotion that we all deserve!

Actual rating: 3.5

I really enjoyed about 90% of this story. It was quick and really easy to fly through - it only ended up taking me about 3, 3 1/2 hours to complete. However, the ending felt rushed and a bit forced to me. It didn't give me the payoff that I was expecting to get from the story.

I enjoyed the characters and getting to see how they interacted with each other. I enjoyed learning a little about this world (the author warns that there isn't a focus on world building). I enjoyed getting to see the disputes and how alliances were formed and broken.

For me, it really was the ending that fell flat.

Of course, I still really enjoyed my time in this book. I'll probably continue on with this series. Not right away, but the writing and plotline (minus the unfulfilled feeling I was left with around some of the choices) will certainly bring me back at some point.

This book is SO UNIQUE. The lore, the concept of the djinn. The book catches your interest, immediately from the start. Of course, following Keira’s logic made me want to scream. I had to remember that she is a woman with heart on her sleeve. That she just had rose colored glasses on and will do anything for her love. I despised how she was made to feel, but so glad when she starts to realize her own power and strength. Seeing her journey of self love and learning to be accepting of her own desires, was amazing. Then cue, Elijah, I loved his character so much! I honestly need a whole other book with him in it! lol the way he has Keira’s best interest, and supports her decisions. I was so happy with the ending of the book, and I honestly need more!

I struggled a bit with this one, I think mostly because I’ve had a few book with fierce, know what they’re worth females so Keira in the first half of the book fell flat for me. In saying that I definitely get the empowerment themes and Keira freeing herself and forming the connection she deserves to her body and her djinn 👀 was a delight. So really, if you’re thinking reading the book and that’s your jam then you’ll likely love it. Overcoming the manipulative man and finding herself was the main theme in this book with the romance as a bit of a subplot. The writing was easy to read and was a quick spicy piece.

Keira’s journey kinda gives me Catherine the Great vibes? A young lady is excited and eager to fall in love and have a family but life turns out to uh, not be so great, so she becomes a influential badass 💅 Keira’s journey and growth is so well done, it can be heavy at times, but I certainly found some parallels to my own life experiences that resonated with me. It’s a good story about trusting friends and trusting your gut 🖤

The spice is great fun, I really enjoyed the “show me, teach me” trope 🤭

Thank you to C.L. Qvam for the ARC!

I read this whole book in like.. 4 hours maybe? The writing was amazing and it was so fast paced! I could not put it down!

The world building was not heavy, which for me was awesome because I was looking for something less heavy on that side of things! I also found the characters interesting and unique.

I am really interested to see where the rest of the series goes, and will definitely be picking up the rest of the series!

Thank you to Netgalley for allowing me to review this ARC. Sadly, it wasn't for me even with the concept of Djinns and their representation of the Seven deadly sins.

It just fell short for me and I think in large part it was due to the FMC. She came across as immature, annoying and naive. She made some decisions that left me going 'WHAT!?!'.
Elijah I really wanted to enjoy, but there were times, particularly during the spicier scenes, when I cringed with what he said or did.

I wanted to love this more, especially as the blurb and cover had me hooked right away. This may not have been for me, but I know others will love it, and I am still grateful for being giving the opportunity to review!

*ARC Review
Thank you to Netgalley and Victory Editing for providing me with an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Djinns will take your whole hand if you give them a finger. At least, that’s what my nan used to say. ‘What if you give them the finger?’ I once asked. ‘Then they’ll take your hand, and body with, and take you—’
An ominous warning from a grandmother to her grandchild about a bedtime story that can't possibly be true. Right?

This story, was a quick read, not only because it's page count but because it sucked me in. The story was captivating and moved at quick pace. I felt all the emotions, I even cried once towards the end. My only deduction is because I wasn't very fond of the FMC. Through part of the book she was so naive and only saw what she wanted to see, it was kind of annoying. But the MMC... *chefs kiss!! He is funny, and sweet and so witty but his pet name for FMC is now my favorite of all time.

🔸️Pros- Short chapters, quick pace
🔸️Cons- The FMC was kind of annoying
🔸️Favorite Character- 100% Elijah
🔸️Least Favorite character- August
🔸️Favorite highlight/Quote- If you’re what it means to be a saint, I’d rather be a sinner,
🔸️Would I read it again? Definitely
🔸️Would I recommend it? Yes
🔸️Will I continue the series? For sure! I have even already put my name in for the ARC of the next one cause I don't want to have to wait.

Marking this one as not for me. Found this really difficult to get into and could not connect with any of the characters. I like the messaging but didn’t enjoy the writing. The juxtaposition of old and modern was also jarring. I really wasn’t enjoying it so had to DNF @ 45%

Heir of Sin by C.L. Qvam

Thank you Qvamington Press for providing this book for free, for my review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are 100% my own.

Wow! To start, I must mention that I don’t usually read "Romantasy."
In the past, I’ve picked up some books bursting with complicated lore and intricate plots that left me bewildered before reaching the second chapter. However, C.L. Qvam's Heir of Sin changed everything for someone newer to this genre.
description
I discovered an escape I had been yearning for, one that wasn’t overwhelming, but rather provided all the magical elements I was eager for without the fear of losing my way. The world-building was exceptional ! The opening instantly captivated me in the way only a good book can: "Thick, soft, violet smoke drifts out of its pipe mouth while I back away... it gathers into a thick cloud... my heart pounding in my ears... the silhouette of a man approaches, his smile feral." - A mixed quote from the prologue of Heir of Sin.

description
I appreciated the titles of the chapters, as they added meaning to each part of the book.

Initially, I found Keira to be somewhat irritatingly naive, but her character development and arc was impressively executed, in my view. Instead of being abruptly thrown into her drastic transformation, I was able to embody Keira, noticing the subtle elements that infused her journey with action and tension.
Then there's Elijah, the ultimate forever book boyfriend. I can't elaborate too much without giving anything away, but if you're like me and seeking a refreshing change in your reading list because you're stuck in a rut where all the books start to blend together, you definitely need Elijah—he has set the benchmark. GOLD STANDARD LADIES!

The themes and setting were perfectly crafted, pulling me deeply into this enchanting world, complete with enough lore to captivate seasoned fans and warmly welcome newcomers like myself! The dialogue was superb; it was always clear who was speaking, when they spoke, and even when it was inner thoughts. The language used was that of "Romantasy" but not so overly complex I had to conjure up my own version of names and terms. A little funny though, I pronounced The Autumn Court , Oryastes - in my head I kept saying "oysters"....

All the secondary characters felt significant and contributed meaningfully to the story and plot. I can't say I felt any dull moments during this journey. I found myself excited, constantly needing to restrain myself from reading too quickly and flipping pages too fast.

Though this tale doesn’t delve into the "darkness" of the prevalent "open-door spicy" genres, nor does it rely heavily on recurring tropes, which is also another high note for me, as I am a long time reader, before it was cool to read dark DARK romance, I genuinely thought it was a fantastic story!

I admit I'm one of those readers who reads the author's notes at the beginning and end before starting a new book. I was especially thankful to have done that with Heir of Sin. I immediately resonated with C.L. Qvam; her message resonated with me as a woman. It helped me grasp her intentions behind Keira and Elijah's journey.

Additionally, to C.L..... If your Nan purchased the book titled "Prince of Dreams," a marvelous narrative rich in Russian folklore and mysticism, which was gifted to me by my amazing late Gran, it was destiny that guided me to ARC Heir of Sin...
