Killer Spring

Rate this book
Vic Gorski is now the Chief of Police for Bay City, Minnesota, a normally quiet setting on the North Shore of Lake Superior. But with the longer days of Spring, a young woman’s body is discovered with a murder of crows in a frenzy, within sight of an expensive lakeshore home. It doesn’t take Vic long to know this is no accident. With the tourist season heading into full swing, it’s all hands on deck to quickly solve this case. Vic gives Liv Romano the lead in her first case, but he knows he must remain intimately involved in this criminal investigation to bring order back to this small community. There seems to be no motive for the murder, but there are plenty of potential suspects—from locally to the Twin Cities and even to Europe. What they all discover is that murder can happen anywhere at any time. Vic teaches his team that evil comes in many forms. They don’t need to understand it. They just need to solve the murder.

Mr. Scott writes a decent mystery, BUT I had many issues while reading three of his Lake Superior Mystery books, written by a man who was born in MN and went to college in Duluth. He writes of "watching the sunset on Lake Superior." No, one would watch the sunRISE from the fictional Bay City and/or Duluth. There are also way too many crude sexual comments that have no place in any workplace and they just cheapen the story. And lastly, he -or his editor - should know that a person "waves" goodbye - not "waives" and if a person drinks too much, they could become "wasted," not waisted." These mistakes were not one-offs but rather occurred in all three of the books I've read so far. These issues overshadow his actual talent and I hope they are addressed.

Cute Story

An interesting, nice story with little drama and a bit too simplistic and predictable, not as intense or intriguing as previous stories. Ohh well!

great characters

Scott tells a great story (unfortunately quite sad) with a compelling and surprise ending. It shocked me, perhaps you also.
