Writing a spicy romance novel with your best guy friend isn’t a problem. Picturing him as you write the steamy scenes … now that could get complicated.
Tobias Banks is a bestselling romance author and my best friend. He’s smart, brilliant, and kind-hearted. He has never shown an interest in settling down, and he’s the one constant in my life I know I can depend on for anything.
So it shouldn’t surprise me that as soon as my personal life shatters, he’s there, picking up the pieces and reminding me who I am.
In a matter of days, we are back to our lively banter. I’m living in his spare room, and now, he’s helping me achieve my lifelong dream of writing a romance novel.
Life feels good again, free … except I’m not looking at him as the friend whom I used to pull all-night study sessions with during college. Nope, I’m looking at him as the man who walks into the kitchen each morning shirtless, smirks when I say something he likes to hear, wears shirts that hug his arms a lot tighter than I remember, and looks at me as if I’m his next meal.
Falling for my best friend isn’t smart. I can’t lose him, but if I’ve learned anything since we set out on this journey together, it’s that love doesn’t make the rules; we do.
Let me start by saying friends to lovers is my least favorite trope. Since most of my good friends are male, it would break my heart if I found out one of them was in love with me. Like, was the friendship a sham and they were just biding their time for something romantic to happen?
That being said, I still gave this 4.5 stars because it was that good. I started this series in Book 5 (More Than Write) and honestly, I want to go back and read 1-4 because all the characters come back and I'm in love with all of them as couples and would like to see how they all got to be that way.
On to Tobias and Natalie. From More Than Write I knew something was going on with them (or at least should've been). These two are 100% couple goals as friends. I think I liked this F2L because it was obvious from the past and from this book that there was always something more to them. The back and forth of how they met and their relationship now was so swoony. The sort of slow burn of it all and the stolen moments and the angst...I melted.
And can I say, "Dove" might be my new favorite pet name in any/all books. The fact that Natalie didn't know why he called her that was just the cherry on top. The fact that Tobias didn't realize he called her that because he'd always loved her more than just a friend is ridiculous and honestly, one of the reasons why I didn't give this 5 stars.
I also loved everything about the first like 1/2-3/4 of this book. The last like 1/4 really just felt rushed to me, but it wasn't too rushed. Like they went from not wanting to tell anyone to just telling everyone at once and that was that. I don't know, maybe I'm used to 3rd act break ups and the fact that I didn't consider this book to have one just felt too easy. Maybe that's the point of F2L, it's easy. Who knows.
Now on to, arguably, the best part of this book. Grandma Betty. That woman has my heart. She is the absolute best and the relationship that Tobias has with Betty is just the sweetest thing ever. Tobias is a proper book boyfriend.
Thank you, Jami Rogers and Grey's Promotions for the ARC.
In Jami Rogers’ Always Been Write best friends Tobias Banks, bestselling romance author, and Natalie Miller, PR/media specialist, struggle with fighting the desire between them and wanting to cross the line between friends and lovers as they work together to write a steamy romance novel.
Rogers’ writing is vivid with detailed descriptions. Her characters are relatable, likable, characters that you want to work through their issues and just be happy together. Her colorful, hilarious, and natural-sounding dialogue perfectly suits her characters, setting, and theme.
The novel’s best moments are when it focuses on the novel writing and the relationships between Tobias and his best guy friends, Tobias and his grandmother, and Tobias and Natalie’s relationship apart from her fiancé. Those scenes are funny, nostalgic, emotional, sweet, and entertaining.
Since the moment they met 10 years ago, best friends Natalie and Tobias have been constants in each other’s lives. She knew she could always depend on him for whatever she needed, just as he could do the same. And when her personal life fell apart, he helped her to pick up the pieces, offering her a place to stay.
Tobias is brilliant, supportive, and kind-hearted. His friends are always on his case about his lack of a dating life. But he’s waiting for the right woman and focused on his writing career. So, he’s not too concerned about dating right now. His college friends, who are also romance writers, all believe that he and Natalie should be together. So does his grandmother.
Kind, smart, and considerate, Natalie is engaged to be married to a guy she’s been dating for several years. But she fears losing her friendship with Tobias or that he will disappear from her life once she’s married. Being with Tobias and hanging out at his house always puts her at peace. When Tobias has some issues with his writing and she thinks about how her marriage might change their friendship, she suggests co-writing a book together.
I like Tobias’ and Natalie’s dynamic. Their interactions are sweet, funny, sexy, and full of snark and sarcasm. Rogers’ love scenes take advantage of the forced proximity and their repressed chemistry and intense attraction that they’ve spent years denying that writing steamy scenes brings to the surface. These sensual and intimate scenes and moments reveal and evolve their characters and further the novel’s plot.
I love Rogers’ scenes with Natalie and Tobias writing the novel, especially the steamy scenes. Along with exploring the writing process as co-writers, these scenes are chemistry-filled, flirty, and fun. They also contribute to the transition of Tobias’ and Natalie’s relationship from friends to lovers and the evolution of their characters and the story. Natalie totally gets into writing the steamy scenes. Having the chance to spend all her time with her BFF Tobias and write a romance novel with him allows her to live her best life.
I love how patient and supportive and loving Tobias is toward Natalie. He genuinely shows his love for her. Because she is so frustrating. I wrote out this drawn-out rant about why she frustrates me, but I won’t go into it other than to say a couple of quick things. I don’t understand Natalie’s assumption and fixation on Tobias being a player. Unless it’s something from the other books in the series, which I haven’t read. But if so, he’s not anymore. So, she’s convinced that he could only be interested in casual affairs and if they ever crossed the line from friends to lovers, it could never last. But none of their friend group ever sees him with a parade of women on his arm or coming in and out of his home, including Natalie. Make it make sense. This, along with some other things that she does, says and believes about him, during the novel makes it hard to believe that she genuinely knows Tobias or is as close friends with him for 10 years as we are supposed to believe. Or maybe it’s just her tripping and not treating him like her best friend.
Funny, sweet, steamy, sexy, emotional, and fast-paced Always Been Write is perfect for fans of friends to lovers, first love, romance/novel writing, and forced proximity.
Thanks to Jami Rogers and Grey’s Promotions for the Advanced Review Copy.
I really enjoyed this book! Friends to lovers is one of my favorite tropes. These characters didn’t have hidden feelings which a lot of FtL books do. They were truly best friends and I loved that.
Tobias is a romance author who is struggling with his writing lately. Natalie is in a relationship at the start of the book but breaks up with her sketchy fiance. Natalie wants to help Tobias with his writing so they decide to write a spicy romance book together.
I really enjoyed the storyline because how often do you read about a male romance author MMC? It was so original. Tobias and Natalie have a really supportive friendship and I loved seeing them discover each other in new ways. They had great chemistry, steamy moments, and a sweet romance together.
4🌟 (I received an e-arc from grey's promotion and am voluntarily leaving this review) Tropes: ●Best friends to lovers ●Romance book writer MMC ●He gives her a nickname (dove) (the meaning behind this was probably what i loved the most) ●Roommates ●Friend group (a really good one) ●Small town scenes ●One couch ●One bed ●Writing a book together ●No major third act break up ●He falls first and hard
I lovedddd the first half of this book. I thought it was going to be a new favorite and if i consider just the first half, i would say that it is the best arc i have ever received but the second half kinda let me down. Not that it was bad or anything but it felt like their connection became more physical rather than emotional. The characters of this book were amazing. All the side characters were so much fun to follow and i would love to someday go back and read all of their books. The guys in the friend group were amazing. There was this one scene that i absolutely loved:
'“Don’t you dare walk out that door,” Griffin calls out behind me. Before I know it, Hero, Beck, Simon, Zane, and Graham are all standing between me and Griffin. “I’d stop right there if I were you,” Hero says quietly but with authority.'
Ahhhhhh. I feel like I loved the first half better because the side characters were more present in that. For eg, Tobias' grandma was amazing. I loved how He was protective about his grandma.
I loved that this dealt with some good topics too. It felt like the fmc was sort of discovering herself again.
Happy Release Day Jami 😍❤ Tobias and Natalie 😫😫 They are made for each other, in every sense! It was absolutely beautiful to watch their relationship grow and get stronger with every turn of the page 🤭
Tobias and Natalie have been best friends for 10 year's and insist that, they're just best friends. Everyone around them can see that they mean more to each other but neither agrees to take that step. We find out Tobias hasn't been able to write a book and finish one for the last two years. He doesn't tell anyone this besides Natalie. This means so much that he only tells HER about this. (When you read the book you'll know because OMFG) 😫😫😫 Nat suggests that they should co-write and that may help him. Write a spicy book with the person you're attracted to and can see your entire life with? Not a problem 🤭🤭🤭🔥 right? 😎
Tobias is an author and MAN is he a HAWT one 🤭😫 He's literal perfection. He's protective, possesive, respectful, an absolute gentleman and adores Natalie beyond what I can even convey. He will do anything to make her happy and keep that smile on her face. Natalie works at a Book PR company, and is also Tobias's Manager. She adores him and his grandmother. She's beautiful, intelligent, strong, protective, possesive and proves the phrase "I'll always choose you" is the one to describe them 😫
Their bond and relationship is ABSOLUTELY perfect. They're both extremely supportive of, love, trust and protect each other 😫 When their relationship finally! FINALLY! changes into lovers, it's a real HELL YES moment because it's so long overdue 😎❤ Spicy Authors really do have the dirtiest mouths and I cannot imagine anyone more suited for each other than these two 😌
If you haven't picked them up yet, you need to do so ASAP because you are missing out!! 😎❤🔥
This is book 6 and last book in this awesome series filled with hot male authors. I loved this series and how unique that it was based around male authors. This was the last friend standing Tobias' story. Tobias and Natalie are best friends and met 10 years ago. I was intrigued and shocked after the prologue that they didn't end up together and were best friends. I did wonder what happened for the story to change. Anyway we are now at a place where Nat is getting engaged and Tobias is struggling with the biggest writer block and he doesn't know why. These two really loved each other but deep down they put it as friendship as they can't see life without each other. It was a slow burn!!! And I was literally on the edge throughout just waiting for a miracle. Literally praying for them to knock sense into themselves haha. Everyone around them sees it except them two. It takes some revelations, incident and on the spot choice to make for things to happen. Even then Jamie was unaliving me with the wait. For a Steamy author Tobias missed so many signs. My favourite part was when they were acting out a walking away scene that did it. I jumped for joy, literally. Unfortunately it's not without doubts and fear so read and see what happens. When we finally get the spice it definitely is worth it. They are just hot hot hot together. I do feel sad that they fell in love 10 years ago but lost so many year of actually being together. I loved his grandma and the whole group of friends, that are one big family. I will miss this group of smexy authors and their awesome wives.
“One taste and this pu$$y belongs to me—do you hear me?” “Yes.” “This is mine now. I don’t share.”
Long-time best friends Natalie and romance writer Tobias lead this latest Jami Rogers romance and set the pages on fire once they acknowledge their feelings. Lots of churning, mixed-up emotions bubbling to the service and erupting into full-on steam and a good cast of supporting characters.
The first part of the book is dominated by Tobias's writer's block and his unease about the rapidly approaching marriage of his best friend since college. He's got issues with Natalie's fiance Griffin and the effect her marriage could have on their tight friendship. I really got into this part of the story and the way the engagement party panned out. I loved how devoted they were to each other, like Tobias's willingness to try and make friends with Griffin to make Nathalie happy even when he can't see anything positive about the guy. And Natalie's immediate readiness to help when Tobias is hit with a close relative's medical emergency.
The second part was heavily dominated by successive steamy scenes and, for me, not as appealing.
I found the idea of this pair going so long unaware of their attraction a bit of a stretch.
I've been with this series from the beginning and I found Always Been Write a good addition to the series, though it can easily be read as a standalone.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.
This was so utterly adorable and I loved every minute of it!! I’ve been waiting for Natalie and Tobias since the very first book and their story did not disappoint
They were so freaking cute together and I envied the bond they had. Their friendship was so strong! Tobias was the absolute sweetest with his precious compliments and his support of Nat. They were both truly there for each other but I especially loved the way Nat was his biggest cheerleader and so ready to help him with his writing problems.
Now for the tension! I loved the moments they each figured out their feelings had change and the tension that built from that was soo delicious! The subtle touches and flirting, and the almost kisses were so freaking good. The spice was mild but the scenes were also quite delicious and didn’t take away from the plot at all.
Overall this was a really sweet friends to lovers, found family story. I have thoroughly enjoyed this series and all the fun and banter this cast of characters brought to it and I’m sad that it’s over. I’m hoping we might be getting a new series in Lovers if the bickering scene was anything to go by so maybe we’ll see some of the crew as cameos?? I’m crossing my fingers for that anyway haha
I’m giving it 5 stars purely because it was so easy, fun, and feel-good! I really am sad this is the end.
Tobias and Natalie's story was beautiful. I loved watching their relationship transform and grow into something beautiful.
Tobias and Natalie have been best friends for 10 years and insist to everyone that they are only best friends. Everyone has always been able to see that there is more, they are the ones that cannot see what is right in front of them.
When Tobias admits to Natalie that he has not been able to finish a book in over two years she automatically tries to find a way to help him. When she offers to write a book with him he is slow to agree, until she writes a scene and he can't stop thinking about it. She is hopeful it will help him get out of his slump.
The bond between these two is unbreakable and they are there for each other through thick and thin. They support each other, love, trust, and protect each other through everything. Their friends circle is there supporting them as well, and I love their friends. I wish I didn't start this series in the middle and cannot wait to go back and read the other characters' books. These two are the spicy in spice and make us want more of their story. I hope you get your copy of this book because you will love it.
Received ARC in exchange for voluntary honest review from Jami Rogers and Grey's Promotions.
I’m going to be honest, I wanted to read this book but I also was a little hesitant too. In the prior books in the series, I just didn’t click with Tobias. BUT, I’m so glad I read this book because seeing things from Tobias’ POV made all the difference.
This book is fun, lighthearted, with long term M/F best friends who don’t realize they are actually in love with each other and have been for years. Their group of friends have seen their love for each other, but they insisted they were just friends and kept things strictly platonic.
Tobias is struggling to finish a book, and that’s so not good for a romance writer. He’s unsettled with life and concerned about his friendship with Natalie now that’s she’s engaged. He can’t stand her fiancé, yet he’s willing to make an effort at befriending Griffin.
Natalie is letting her fiancee make all plans for their engagement party and wedding, and despite not liking some of those plans she’s going along with them.
When circumstances unexpectedly flip the script on Tobias and Natalie, their friendship changes and emotions become apparent. A 10-year friendship gets refreshed and then the connection between them ignites into a sexy and flirty, effortless relationship.
I truly enjoyed the entire story, and loved seeing the other couples. Even the third act rough patch in the relationship made sense and made the story better with a bigger and stronger emotional impact.
My only wish was that Griffin would have gotten some payback for his behavior.
I received a free ARC from the author and Grey’s PR; and I am voluntarily leaving an unbiased review.
Always Been Write was a slowburn, friends to lovers’ romance with a fantastic flow but that, for me, had an air of poignancy about it. Ten years before Tobias had been instantly attracted to Natalie but somehow, before anything had a chance to take root, they’d fallen into a deep and long-lasting friendship, and it was like he’d forgotten those initial feelings. He didn’t even seem to realise his bad case of writer’s block tied in with her engagement. until she broke up with her cheating fiancé and moved in with him to collaborate on his latest book. I loved the depth of their friendship, they were each others ‘ride or die’ but all I could think was how could they have kept their hands off each other for all those years, their chemistry practically leapt off the page. His nickname for her was so sweet even though she’d forgotten how it came about. It was small details like this that elevated this story from good to something special.
Always Been Write might’ve been the sixth and final book in the Lust or Bust series but it was the first one I’ve read and can easily be read as a standalone without giving away spoilers of the previous books.
Tobias is part of a group of guys that write romance novels. They have been writing for years and they own shared work spaces where they meet to have writing time. Tobias has been stuck though. Going on 2 years without a full book written and he can't figure out what the issue is.
Natalie is Tobias's best friend and she manages his marketing and social media through her company. She is engaged to quite the jerk of all jerks and Tobias is doing his best to stay friendly with the fiance. Natalie sees first hand how awful he is when she has to take a trip to see Tobias's grandma unexpectedly.
Natalie and Tobias believe that writing a book may be the answer to their problems. Both are single, they get along great, Tobias needs to get a new book out there, and Natalie can cross something off her bucket list. There's just one thing that's really complicating things. It's a love story they are writing. Is the book fiction or actually what they're really feeling?
This was a great book and I loved that it was a slow burn. Grandma Betty stole the show for a few chapters and she made this book even better!
Always Been Write is a delightful and charming best friends to lovers romance! Jami Rogers brings to life this sweet and easy romance through clear and conversational tones, the beauty of a rich friendship and the eye opening experience of seeing someone in a new light. This is my first novel from Rogers and I have it utterly delicious and extremely engaging. This novel can easily be consumed in one sitting and it will leave you curious about all the other charming side characters that flesh out this story!
I adore that fact that this centers around a male group of friends who are romance writers and the strong and savvy women who help make them better humans. This novel is ultimately a love story between two best friends who find themselves at a precipice of change. It’s about two people who balance and support each other making the decision to leap into the unknown. These two are adorable as they start to negotiate and explore a physical relationship that sizzles with sensuality. The trust and understanding they have for the other builds a strong foundation for this shift in their relationship to soar!
Jami Rogers is definitely an author worth exploring if you are looking for a sexy and fun romance. This novel, while part of a series, can easily be read as a standalone and has definitely fueled me to read the others in this series!
Thank you to Grey’s Promotions for an eARC, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
*4,5 stars* This was my first read by the author and definitely won't be my last one as I really enjoyed reading this story. Although it can be read as a standalone, it's also part of a series. I didn't have any issue with it but maybe others would enjoy it more when reading it after the other ones. I really liked the chemistry between Tobias & Natalie and how their relationship progressed throughout the book. An enjoyable story about friends turning to lovers. Excited to discover other books by the author.
Tobias & Natalie have met each other years ago and when Natalie is about to get married, things have been slowly changing between them and not for good. Her fiancé doesn't seem that interested, even with building a relationship with her best friend, and doubt seems to creep into Natalie's mind but when tragedy strikes, she sees things much clearly. As both Tobias and Natalie embark on a new adventure together, Tobias hopes it'll help with his writing. Slowly their relationship starts to change and feelings between them start to grow, but will they take that step that'll change everything for good?...
I am definitely going to have to go back and read the other books in the series! This can be read as a standalone, but I definitely love to get a whole vibe for the entire series and as this was a first read from this author, I really enjoyed her writing style.
Friends to lovers will often have one of the characters experiencing a hidden/unrequited love at the start, but for Tobias and Natalie, they are friends in the truest sense. But they continue to build on that stable base, discovering more for the two of them. I got the feeling that others could see it eventually becoming more.
Tobias has been hiding that he is experiencing a bad case of writer’s block. When he confesses this to Natalie, of course she has the perfect solution — they’ll co-write! This is where the magic begins as we see how well they complement each other. He’s constantly trying to make her smile, laugh, and feel good about herself. She’s supportive of him, building on that friendship at first, and later a love that is meant to last.
Once these two light that spark, it is ON! And easy to see that it has definitely ‘Always Been Write’ when these two hit the sheets — the dirty talking Tobias is WOW!!
The characters and their relationship were really enjoyable, I love the history and how much they care. It has some of my favourite tropes & they are well done, nothing felt “too tropy” - overdone or forced. The spice was very well written. Also I appreciate their support network with friends/family being important to them and the impact the people they love have on them.
The only critique I have is some of the pacing felt rushed but only because this book definitely could have been longer. I wanted more of their story, not for new plot/scenes just for some of the existing to be expanded on. The writer is good and I would liked to have seen certain parts of the story fleshed out more. It wasn’t needed in anyway for the plot but I think it would been nice to really dig into these moments, not only for the characters sakes and also just for the reader to really be able to connect with the plot more.
I was really stuck between 3🌟 & 4🌟 I may come back and change my mind later once I’ve processed it more.
I loved, loved, loved Tobias and Natalie! Always Been Write checked off all my boxes when it comes to friends-to-lovers/best friends romance. And as a bonus, he falls first and he falls hard!
After being best friends for a decade. Tobias and Natalie cross that line to "more" after she goes through a breakup. Of course, they both have reservations about what that will do to their friendship... This was such a swoony, slow-burn romance. I felt that Jami Rogers set up the close friendship between the characters really well, so they were established before they crossed to the line to lovers. This story was all kinds of seggsy too, because Tobias is a male romance writer and a dirty talker.
This story also had a great grandparent in Grandma Betty -- I loved how special her relationship with Tobias was. And the larger friend group -- they are all so supportive of one another!
Great job, Jami!
I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
Tobias and Natalie first met at a college party more than ten years ago and from then onwards, they became best friends. Tobias is a romance writer who is going through a writing rut, hence Natalie proposes that they work together to co-write a book.
With Natalie breaking up with her fiancé and moving in with Tobias temporarily, it brings them into close proximity and they kickstart their co-writing plans.
As they weave the romantic (and sexy) scenes in their book, we see them experiencing the same in their lives too. Will they be able to take the risk and possibly become the right one for each other?
I loved the chemistry between Natalie and Tobias and as a romance book lover, it was interesting to see how they planned and actually wrote the various scenes! I loved the reveal of the meaning behind her nickname too ❤️.
Always Been Write~ The Lust or Bust Series #6 by Jamie Rogers.
PUBLISHER DESCRIPTION Writing a spicy romance novel with your best guy friend isn’t a problem. The problem is when you start to imagine him as you write the steamy scenes.
The Lust or Bust series is based on a group of six male friends who just happen to be romance authors. This is Tobias's story and his best friend Natalie.
A brilliant addition to this series that has been written well.Wonderful characters who feel that they are real.A believable storyline that just pulls you in from the start. I highly recommend this book to all, and I shall be reading the series again.
Tobias and Natalie’s story had me hooked from page one. I kept kicking my feet screaming at their friendship and the slow burn. Their friendship is goals, their chemistry is off the charts, and those almost kisses? 😍💋 Swoonnnn. literal feet kicking in the air moments.
The tension? SO DELICIOUS! The flirty banter and subtle touches kept me on the edge of my seat. And the spice? Just the right amount! 🌶️✨
This book is the perfect mix of fun, heartwarming moments, and feel-good vibes. If you’re into friends-to-lovers with a found family twist, this is your next obsession! 📖💖
Thank you Jami and Greys for this ARC. I enjoyed every single minute of it. I'm glad this was my first book by Jami because now I want to go devour everything else she's written ◡̈
This is the 6th book in this impressive series, and this is Tobias and Natalie’s story. Tobias is a bestselling romance author, who is suffering from writer’s block, and he needs to get another book written. Natalie is Tobias’s best friend, and she manages his marketing and social media through her company. These two have been dancing around their feeling for each other for a long time, but will they take a chance on each other? This is a well written story which is an easy to read, slow burn, with family, best friends / lovers, challenges, humor, witty banter, emotions, undeniable chemistry, romance, and love, which leads to an entertaining, and steamy small town romance. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
This series is just amazing, but I have to say I think Jami saved the best for last. Always Been Write was such a great read as we watch two best friends realize that the one they have always been looking for was in front of them the whole time. Tobias is a best selling author and when Natalie ends her engagement he is the cushion that softens the blow. As Natalie starts to feel like herself again, she see Tobias for what he truly is, the love of her life. Except we all know that is never a simple, I love you. There is some push as well as some big fears, but when they take the time to truly be, the love surrounds them and I loved every single second of it. A wonderful story that showcases true feelings and written to perfection.
Tobias is conflicted as he doesn’t understand why he is having so much difficulty finishing the romance novel he is writing, and he doesn’t understand why Natalie’s engagement is affecting him as all they share is a friendship.
Natalie is not only Tobias’s friend, but she works with him as well. When the plans she had for her future take a turn she finds herself moving in with Tobias so that they can finish his book together and now they find themselves re-evaluating their feelings for each other and their relationship.
It was so much fun seeing Natalie and Tobia finally open their hearts and acknowledge their feelings for each other even if they had a few setbacks along the way. There is also a great cast of secondary characters that add humor and heart to the story.
The blurb did me in: Writing a spicy romance novel with your best guy friend isn’t a problem. Picturing him as you write the steamy scenes … now that could get complicated. There was no doubt I had to read this book. And I can say that I really enjoyed it. I have already added the previous books in the series to my TBR. Reading about the couples from those books made me wonder. So, those books will follow soon. The story for Tobias and Natalie is a friends-to-lovers. They have been friends for several years, but they’re afraid to risk their friendship. I could feel the tension between the two of them, the built-up to when they finally come together is perfect. They just needed that extra push to cross those lines.
Yep, I said dove. He doves her so much and I dove this book x100!
What a great way to end this Lust and Bust series! It’s the story we’ve all waited for—Tobias and Natalie—but with so many fun twists. We’ve all known they were right for each other, but it’s wonderful to see them finally drop the blinders—yet they still have plenty of challenges to overcome, of course. I especially liked the fact that this couple hasn’t been gaslighting readers for the whole series; it's friends to lovers at its finest. I also loved the scenes with Tobias and his grandmother. They really showed how thoughtful and tender he is — such a worthy hero. And do I spy a new series to enjoy by Jami?I I sure hope so!
"Always Been Write" by Jami Rogers is a heartwarming, friends-to-lovers romance that blends humor and heat seamlessly. The story follows Tobias, a charming bestselling author, and his best friend as they navigate the tricky waters of writing a spicy romance novel together. As their friendship deepens and boundaries blur, the chemistry between them ignites, leading to a captivating slow-burn romance. Rogers excels in creating relatable characters and witty banter, making this novel an engaging read. Perfect for fans of best-friends-turned-lovers tropes, this book is a delightful exploration of love, trust, and taking chances.
This is the second book from this author that I’ve read and while I had some issues, I enjoyed it very much. While very much a standalone, HEA story, characters from the other books in series do feature significantly but not in any way to impede your enjoyment if you haven’t read their story. I liked this couple and the way the story transitioned from best friends to more, and the surprising insecurities it brings about. However, there were situations that felt like something had been cut out and was missing, times where the story didn’t flow as well. Overall, though, this is a good read that I enjoyed.
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of ‘Always Been Write’ and was thrilled to find that it includes so many of my favourite elements:
🗻Small Town 👵🏻Sassy Grandma 📖Bookish best friends to lovers 🥰Nicknames 🔥Slow burn but spicy
Last but not least: there👏🏻is👏🏻only👏🏻one👏🏻bed!
This is the sixth book in the ‘Lust or Bust’ series, but the first that I’ve read. There was definitely enough background detail provided for it to stand alone and, for me, it was a great book to binge on a cozy night in after a long week.
Received as an ARC and was pretty excited to read a book about a male romance author! Tobias and Natalie have been best friends for 10 years. Even with constant backlash from friends thinking they are more, they still managed to stay just friends. Until Natalie leaves her cheating fiance and Tobias is the only one there for her like he always is, does she realize she feels more for him than friendship and so does he.
This book was a slow burn but still good. The spice was good but of course, it could've had more! Overall, a really cute story.
I loved getting to dig into Tobias and Natalie's story. These two have been best friend's for a very long time so there's already a very deep connection there between them. It's a slow burn while they maneuver through the ups and downs, and how to handle the those feelings. I absolutely love their friend group, they are people that you'd always want around you. I was pulled into the story, the flow and the connection. This is a great read to escape into.
