Black Veil University #2

Knight Revelations

Rate this book
I'm sorry, Dani.
Those three words echo through my mind and tug at the broken strings of my heart.

Bonds, magic, and lies seem to make up my world right now as it crashes around me.
All I wanted was a normal life, to go to college and try to put the shadows of my past behind me. Instead, my world has been turned upside down, and my bright future at Black Veil University is suddenly looking dim.
The shadows are closing in, putting those I love most at risk, and they will stop at nothing to get what they want.

Knight Revelations is book 2 in the Black Veil University Series which DOES end in a cliffhanger. This is university-aged slow burn/slow build Rever Harem romance which means there will be no choosing between love interests by the end of the book.
*Trigger Warnings*
This book has darker elements that readers should be aware of such as, stronger language, PTSD from kidnapping, assault, and violence.

After reading the last book I thought maybe we will get to see Gabriel telling Dani that they've met before. That didn't happen, instead we have to listen to him think about it all the time and still not tell her. The end of the book also leaves a lot to be desired, what sort of ending was that? Nothing had happened in the entire book and now we are being left with a cliffhanger.

“I really do love you, Danica. More than I ever imagined possible.” 🌊🔥🌀

ABSOLUTELY INSANE, just as i suspected! i think i may have enjoyed the first book just a teensy bit more than this one, but this one was still SO incredibly good.

i loved seeing danica’s relationships with the guys grow in this book! that definitely made me very happy. the guys seem so wonderful, and i’ve enjoyed getting to learn more about their personalities and who they are in general.

the plot didn’t have me as on-edge in this book as it did in the first book, probably because the author wanted to focus more on strengthening the relationships between characters, but i enjoyed it nonetheless!

THAT ENDING WAS ABSOLUTELY BONKERS!!! i literally gasped out loud. i mean, how could you not? i nearly screamed! i have so many questions. this next book is going to be absolutely insane for sure!

AHHH My Mood Reader Brain is finally done with this series! I'd like to shout a big F*CK YOU to this series as a whole. Even though I only read the first two books there is NOTHING that can redeem Gabe with that cliffhanger ending. WTF is wrong with the guy!

At this point, I don't give two f*cks who the leak is that's been keeping daddy dearest informed or how the heroine got out from wherever she was being experimented on. I refuse to put myself through another one of these books. I've also made the decision to read through a few reviews for the next book and apparently, the heroine forgives and forgets very easily and is still very much a doormat. That's going to be a pass from me.

Now that I'm done with it I will gladly nitpick it to my heart's content

- The lack of contractions. It definitely got better with book #2 but it could still be better. I don't get the need for what reads like stilted conversations from characters that clearly have a personality that does shine through their dialogue.

- The misogyny has been turned down by a lot. I think the author finally got the memo from the reviews for the first book. Though some do slip out here and there. Still annoying and disappointing but not as bad as the first book. E.G. The mean girls are cheerleaders. The heroine's inner monologue called their UNIFORMS skimpy and then proceeds to justify the need for the uniforms being that way. It's wild *facepalm*

- Petition to remove the words tiny/petite/small from this novel. We get it the heroine looks super duper small when compared to every other girl in existence. WE GET IT.

- Dax trying to insert himself in the amount of coffee the heroine can drink daily. It's going to be a cold day in h*ll when I let a guy decide what I should and shouldn't eat/drink. If I want to die then let me go in peace. It's my choice.

- I noted (while reading this book) that certain passages read like a guy writing women because some women read like caricatures 😅

- The most fictitious part of this novel is how fast she got her prescriptions refilled at a local pharmacy. I've seen enough horror stories on TikTok to know that that is not the norm in the US LOL

- On a darker note, why is her kidnapping still so shrouded in mystery? Is there a prequel I should have read that I didn't know about? It's become annoying because it feels like I'm missing a very big part of the story on a consistent basis.

- The heroine has no self-preservation skills. In the (maybe) last 2 chapters there's a scene where Zane and Remi are in trouble and instead of listening to Dax and getting the h*ll out of dodge she decides that it's much smarter to go toward the danger even though her magic is laughable at best. What does she think she's going to do? Make the villain laugh himself to death? I was rolling my eyes and skimming by this point. I was just over it.

I deeply regret the hours of my life that I spent reading this book that I will never get back. Half of it is my fault, and the other half was my mood reader brain fixating on it. I should have stopped at Book #1.

Initial toughts :I’m trying but it still bores me to 💀

re-read 01/03/23 :I'm re-reading this entire series because I was in the beginning of a slump when I read it last summer.

Hum, my opinion is the same, pretty boring

This was ok ... I found myself a little bored at times. I saw the betrayal coming at about 50% and I have to admit I'm mad/sad the author made this choice because there is no redemption from something like this. If the guys forgive Gabe, they are just as bad as him. If Dani forgives Gabe, she's a doormat. It has also created this undefeatable bad guy and makes her guys look weak and powerless. I'm sorry, but Gabe's decisions are completely illogical, his behavior towards Dani doesn't make sense and there is no coming back for him with this final betrayal.

In the second book, the adventure continues where the first book left off. With a cliffhanger, naturally! Even though there's not a lot of action and adventure after the beginning, I was still entertained. Gabriel drove me nuts, however. His need to keep important facts a secret for no real reason for the entire book made me dislike the chapters he was in. The next book has him on the cover, so I am hoping for a redemption arc in book three! Oh, and this book also ends in a cliffhanger, so have that third book ready!

The cliffhanger is not great

I’m going to keep this short. This series has promise, I liked the book in the beginning but I started getting a little annoyed at the “misunderstood boy who is exceptionally mean because he has conflicted feelings” trope near the end. 2 full books of a MC being an absolute a**? It was wearing on my nerves. But I understand these RH books, there’s always a hold out and I was hoping it would resolve this book. I was wrong. So wrong. I don’t think I will be continuing this series. The cliffhanger was an act so repulsive that nothing that the author could possible do to redeem this betrayer will be enough. I will think the FMC weak for taking him back for any reason. I see the next cover has this MC on the it, so it’s obvious she will take him back for little to no reason. As a surviver of assault myself, handing a girl back to her abuser? Nothing would make me want to see that man again. I’m sorry, but the author can’t do anything to get me back on board with this. I can see the weak justification now for the MC characters actions. Nothing that was laid out in these books currently are good enough. Not his family (either type), not his fear, not his secret feelings. If anything, the act should have been so repulsive to him because of his past. The author lost me. I’m sorry.

So much bad.

Huge spoilers!!!

1) The female lead moved from damsel to submissive, desperate-for-love broken bird with no self-esteem or -respect.
2) The lead female let everyone physically manhandle her, restraining and moving her around to their will, against her own, without dishing up any strong reaction or consequences.
3) The lead female let the wolf lead male into her pants way too readily after all his games and lies and deceit. They were barely into their first date, which was their first real chance to sort things out privately, when she let him bang her up against the wall.
4) The male leads got worse. Even the 'nice' one becomes controlling, limiting her coffee without her agreement.
5) The wolf male lead took no responsibility for mating her without her permission, instead he blamed it all on his wolf (taking no responsibility is a theme with him)
6) The wolf male lead's anger triggered the lead female to point of her ending up on the floor having a flashback to being tortured by her stalker and he still continued to rain his anger all over her every time she said something he didn't like
7) The wolf lead male had the nerve to get angry at the lead female for sleeping with someone else when, not only had they made NO vows of fidelity to each other, they weren't even in a romantic relationship (which he took no responsibility for).
8) Then the wolf gets angry (and she feels guilty) because she didn't share certain personal information with him despite the fact that he didn't bother to share information that directly and deeply affected her. On top of that, he never did apologize for breaking her heart over and over again, just stood there denying her feelings while justifying and excusing his choices. (And buddy, telling her your wolf was into her does not equal banging her so the whole 'you were under age' argument doesn't hold any water.)
9) The gargoyle male lead asks the wolf male lead if he can take the female lead on a date but doesn't bother asking her, even when he showed up. Instead he tells her to get up and go with him. (Annnnd she just gets up and goes because she is a submissive, desperate-for-love broken bird with no self-esteem or -respect.)
10) The lead female/wolf lead male initial sex scene was so awful, it read like sexual assault. After very little foreplay, he just ripped off her panties and jammed himself in, causing her pain, and then bit her, causing her more pain, without her consent. Twice. (Annnnd she didn't protest any of it at the time or after because, once again, she is a submissive, desperate-for-love broken bird with no self-esteem or -respect.)
11) The male leads characterization is inconsistent as they are all possessive but are okay with sharing. It would be different if they were saying 'ours' possessively but it is always 'my' or 'mine'.
12) The best friend evidences the same submissive behavior, allowing a male she was not in a romantic relationship with break up her three-way sexfest and drag her back to her dorm... after slut-shaming her despite the fact that he's a wolf shifter and used to poly-relationships. So apparently it is a theme.

That was at 54% and I was so disgusted, I skimmed to the last couple of pages and nothing I saw during my skimming made it better.

However, the last two pages perked my interest and made the reaper male lead infinitely more interesting so I might have to at least read the beginning of the next book.

4.5 Stars! Loving this storyline

Book 2 picks up after Dani discovers she and Remi are mated and he's been hiding it from her for over a year. Dani is understandably very hurt by this news and spends the 2 weeks following not speaking to Remi or any of the other guys. Thankfully, Roar steps in and things between Dani and Dax begin to level out.

A lot of book 2 is dedicated to relationship development between Dani and Roar and Dani and Zane. Both Remi and Dax are coming to terms with sharing Dani with the others and Gabe remains an asshole.

We learn more about the guys' history and about what is going on with the big bad of the story, Dante. I feel like a lot of readers may peg some of this book as "filler", however I found it to fit in nicely without being dragged along and it allows the reader to feel closer with each of the main characters.

Things I loved about this book:
🔹Excellent relationship development without portraying things as "too perfect". Normal relationship struggles.
🔹Strong female friendships! I feel like so many books lack this element but I love seeing Dani's friendship with her roommate and bestie, Kayla.
🔹Great plot development without dragging.

Things I didn't love about this book:
🤬 Gabe.
😕 A few of the "twists" were slightly predictable. Not really in a hugely bad way but it was easy to see where things were going at times. (namely what Dani achieved during the battle at the end and what Gabe did after the battle) This could have just been the result of good foreshadowing.

😵‍💫 Cliffhanger? 😵‍💫
If this is a yes/no question then yes. I more considered the end of book 2 to be a "to be continued.." situation and not a terrible cliffhanger. It will leave you anxious for the next book.

Lazy ending

Nospoilers but the ending I lazy, bad writing, nonsensical, and in no way, shape, or form in line with the character and attributes of those involved. You have an under developed writer who want to get from point A to B in their story but whodoesnt know how go get there within the framework they have created so they just do it ignoring the structure.

Also, the use of NDAs...I'm glad you saw an article where you saw someone is bound by an NDA but an NDA is not some magical tool that prevents people from talking. It's a contract that imposes monetary penalties on someone if they talk about subjects covered in the agreement. IE Z agrees not to spoil the ending of V's book and will pay $500 if they do. An NDA does absolutely nothing in the context of this book. Hey sign this NDA that says you won't share information to tip off the bad guy. Okay. Bad guy tipped off. Shocked piccachu face. I'm sorry, are you going to court or a magical tribal and asking the penalty clause be evoked, I mean, yeah the bad guy has you under his complete control but I sure he will let you sue. (Thst is not a spoiler just a clarification on why the NDA would not work) You know what would work within the context of a story with wizards and stitches? A spell that binds people from sharing. No, no,the toothless NDA makes so much more sense

I'm so happy to be in with the lucky ones that were given an ARC of this book. I can't begin to express how excited I was to start reading book two of BVU.. book one was fantastic and book two does not disappoint. I absolutely love Dani. As far as strong FMCs go she is definitely one of my favourites.. I love how she doesn't let anyone walk all over her and can give as good as she gets.. and her best friend Kayla? Friendship goals right there! She is hilarious and she definitely has Dani's back.. I love the guys so much.. there so protective and so loving towards her that I can't help but love them.. Roar is by far my favourite.. his fun loving personality makes it so easy to love him... as for Gabe?.. well if you read book 1 then you know exactly the type of attitude he has.. I really hope he bucks up cuz I really like him almost as much as I like roar.. Dax is a total sweetheart and Remi and Zack may be alphas but they know how to treat Dani write.. that ending though! Like what! I don't know if I'm going to be able to wait for book three.. im already desperate for it!. As far as cliffhangers go it is definitely one of the best ones iv read. It will absolutely have you shouting and throwing a tantrum.. all in all?.. fantastic read.. brilliant storyline and amazing characters.. definitely worth the five stars.

Relationships fast paced, plot pace is slow

Things move very slowly for the plot of what is going on with Danica and her past and all that. She progressively gets closer with the other guys. Gabriel is still Gabriel and is super annoying.

The ending was crazy I understand what happened but yeesh

Saw that coming.

Geez. I predicted everything that happened in this book (even though it was NOT what I wanted to have happen)...and it was awful being proven right. I almost DNF'd partway through, and I totally should have.

The things I didn't like about this book:
(1) Dani and Daxton's relationship. I loved it in the first book but it felt so off to me in this book.
(2) Everything about Gabe. His lying and secretiveness, his 'woe is me' bullshit and 'I have to protect my family' utter BULLSHIT. I saw it coming from a mile away and it was still just freaking ridiculous. Like his 'brothers' will be fine with letting Dani get tortured and assaulted and experimented on and God knows what else?
(3) The way Atlas is always nearby when something bad happens. He should be raising all kinds of red flags but everyone mostly just ignores him.
(4) Kayla's character went from bubbly and talkative in book one to sex-crazed nympho in book two. Not an upgrade IMO. Although both ways the character is too cliche for words.
(5) The use of the G.D. nicknames. Omg stop calling Dani "Angel" every 10 seconds. I legit wanna gag when I read it now.
(6) so many other things. Like why doesn't anyone seem concerned enough to really do anything when they find out Dani's magic and her mental shields have been blocked by an unknown outside force? Everyone's just like "hm well that's weird" and then goes about their day.

So....This series is just not for me.

Where to start!?
Let me start by saying I found the first book in this series on Tik Tok! (Thank you BookTok)
I started it and ate it up so fast that I didn't even realize the book was only out for about 5 days at that time. So I'm going to go ahead and blame this book for all the bad choices I made since then by reading other unfinished series because before Black Veil that was something that I just did not do, EVER!!! I was addicted and hoped to TikTok again where I fangirl lost my mind when B.M Clemton responded to my comment letting me know there would be an ARC for book 2! (and the fact that she responded to lil ole me :P)
Fast forward and I was on my honeymoon in Universal Studios when the ARC team request opened and I made my whole family pause so I could get that spot!!
Now to the book...
This book was everything I DIDNT KNOW I NEEDED!!
I have never been a part of an ARC and prior to this series didn't even know what it was.
But I am thanking my lucky stars that I got a spot because OHHHHH I needed to know what happened next.
I had really high hopes for it as the first book was already so well written.
The character development is some of the best I have ever read, I feel like I know them and that's always super important to me because I want to relate to this world. I read to lose myself in the series and that is 100% what I was able to do here.
The relationship exploration in this book was to die for. Seeing more of Zane and Roar was something I was hoping for with this book (Gabriel as well if I'm being honest, I love me a good asshole man who can't get his head out of his ass >_<) and it did NOT disappoint! There were moments that were funny, flirty, steamy, serious, and downright maddening, what more could someone ask for in a book?
But wait there's more! Not only are the characters and the relationships good but the actual plot! Oh, I am DYING to know what is coming, I have my own theories but really after the few twists and turns between book one and two, I have little faith that I will be guessing them correctly! Don't get me wrong there is nothing more satisfying than reading a book and guessing what's coming that moment of "OH I knew it" is something I live for, but how refreshing it is to feel like it could go anyway!? Props to the author for having me stumped at this point because it really is so open to having so many ways everything could go down.
My ONLY complaint is the cliffhanger, I'm not sure anyone reads a book and goes omg I hope it ends in a cliffy. But it wasn't so bad as some I have encountered and really just left me feeling like an addict while I wait for the next book (which can not come soon enough!)
If you have yet to read Black Veil, run don't walk to grab it because it's delicious and fun!
Got speed B.M Clemton because I can't wait to see the reactions!!!!

The 1st book was amazing. This book (book 2) was a little slower, which is why I'm dropping it down to 3 stars. I still think that Dani has a great connection with Remi, Daxton, Zane, and even Gabe who isn't even her mate. I still don't really see the fire between her and Roar. That said, overall, I really like this series.

I've seen some reviews criticizing the FMC, but as someone who reads a lot of PNR books and is a very harsh FMC critic, I actually don't mind Dani. I don't particularly like her, but I don't dislike her--I'm a bit ambivalent towards her. I don't think she's anything really special so it doesn't make sense that everyone is obsessed with her, but I think this series gets away with that by explaining the unintentional bonds to her (and how the men are also confused as to why they're suddenly obsessed with her). Anyways, Dani is fine. Definitely can be tolerated.

The real superstars of this series so far are the men. Their existing and growing friendships are amazing (Zane and Remi especially). I love their pranks on each other (Roar and Remi towards Zane LOL) and their banter. The men interactions with each other are the best parts of these books. Sweet Zane with his psycho possessive dragon while also cooking with a frilly apron makes me lol every time.

Anyways, I'm on to book 3! I would definitely recommend this series if you like PNR RH books! It's a solid series so far. The plot and men keep things engaging. The writing is pretty good too. I don't have many complaints other than things are moving a little slowly at this point, and there are too many villains. Hoping we finally get more answers in the next book.

So I’m glad that she worked everything out with Remi and Dax. I’m also glad that her relationships with Roar and Zane are progressing. I really like Kayla and Alice. I knew Gabe was going to give her to his father, but at least he seemed surprised about Joshua being there. So she has fire, water and air magic. Was Remi an experiment too? Is her mom alive? Is the Raphael mentioned her father….and who is he? Will she have the block removed and remember Gabe. Whose side is Atlas on? Is Irene somehow involved with Dante?

I begged to me on the ARC team…. I love this series that much.

So you know if it may do that to you, Here are my favorite series in the RH space for reference: Their Vampire Queen, Hemlock Academy, Artemis University, House of Garner… and now Black Veil University.

I am all about the world building series and B.M. Clemton does an AMAZING job of doing that here. I absolutely love the main character (Dani) and most of her guys… I’ll leave you to figure out the tool 😉

It’s a great University series with one one character that bully’s. In book 1 you start down the path with plenty of back story. Book 2 takes you through relationship building between the FMC and the 4 guys…. With the 5th tool hanging out there. I’m excited to see this world expand as there are several support characters that I feel invested in also.

I definitely was teary eyed during some of the flashbacks and the author made me feel what Dani was feeling.

Ended the book angry… angry at the tool character and angry I have to wait until next Spring for the next book. It ends on a cliffhanger but it’s absolutely THE BEST kind where your brain is processing all the options.

So this one was better than the first and it would have gotten 4 stars if not for the last scene where the heroine was too stupid to live. If there is a fight and your mates are protecting you, you just have to run into the fight and put everyone in danger. Hate hate hate that.

I think the first book was just slightly better than this one, due to more happening.
There are quite a few more cringe moments in this book but it was still very enjoyable and I read all the way through.

I enjoyed this even more than i did with the first book. I love to watch the heroine Danicas growt, the more she discover about herself and build the relationship with the guys. Gaberiel, sigh that guy i have some hate love to him. It´s so frustrating how he is acting and how he takes all responsibility on his shoulders. How he still treats Danica like crap, also when he does not trust his brothers to even discuss his secrets and decisions. Like alright i get that you wanna protect them all, but it´s better to share your pain and secrets so you don´t go and do dumb choices. I liked the others tho, Zane, Daxton, Roar and Remington. It was nice to see how well Remington fit in with the others.
OMG that ending is so not okay, that cliffhanger what the fuck is going on?!! i need the next book asap

That Clify man. Why Why Why.

Gabe, I'mma have to maybe be a little stabby with you. okay not a little a lotta, okay also not a lotta. Like imagine a lotta and times it by infinity.

Oh my boys, my sweet awesome amazing boys, (that DOESNT INCLUDE GABE) you are the loves of my life. I'd give anything for you all to be real.

So, this book was utterly amazing. It progressed really well for me. The relationships felt real and right to me, not forced or to fast.

I also felt that we got just enough background on Dante to have our curiosity piqued to keep turning those pages. Clemton also gave you just enough flashbacks and breadcrumbs into Danica's past that its like you just want to save this woman and kill for her, just like her boys.

I am really excited about book 3, eager to see how Clemton progress the story and how much stabbing happens to a certain boy (I say boy, because he ain't no man to me now and yall will agree with me when you read it).
