Time for Hope

Rate this book
In her poignant and insightful new novel, Maxine Billings explores the nature of faith and of friendship, and the ways in which each can change us - and even save us...
Two years ago, Hope Mason discovered her husband was having an affair with her best friend. Crushed by his betrayal and by her friends' lack of emotional support, Hope threw herself into working to provide for her three teenagers. With a full-time job at Mercy Medical Center and a part-time position at the local supply store, she's got no energy for socializing. Besides, Hope has learned her lesson about friends: the fewer you have, the better off you'll be.
When Hope is put in charge of training Tyla Jefferson, the new emergency room clerk, she resists the younger woman's efforts to befriend her. Confident, bright and filled with optimism, Tyla is everything Hope used to be. But Tyla's life is not as uncomplicated as it appears. And as these two very different women gradually open up to one another, sharing their pain and their joy, Hope wonders if she can learn to trust again - in friendship, in God's purpose in her life and in the promise that dawns with every new day.

Maxine Billings is a native of Villa Rica, GA. She now lives in Temple, GA with her husband Tony and their children Natasha and Stefan.

Maxine has enjoyed reading and writing as far back as she can remember. During her summer vacations from school, she participated in the reading program at the local library and spent most of her time reading. She also likes to write poetry. In the tenth grade, one of her poems was published in a school anthology. She liked writing so much that she always wrote more on writing assignments than what the teacher required. One of her cousins used to tease her profusely because she always wrote so much when he only wrote what the class was told and got the same grade as her, an A. When he found out that she had become a published author, he told her that he was glad all that writing she used to do finally paid off.

Maxine loves to read and write wholesome stories that inspire people in positive ways and give them hope. When she isn't writing, she loves spending time in spiritual activities and with her family. She also likes to dance, listen to Jazz and R & B, and do container gardening.

This book is fantastic! With each chapter, you want to keep on reading more and more. Through this book you find that you need time to just relax and slow down, as Hope learned in the story through a much harder way

A very heartwarming story. Hope is a single mother of 3 children. Her ex divorced her and got involved with one of her friends, so she has a hard time having friendships with women. She ends up training a younger woman named Tyla, and that becomes an interesting working relationship. Tyla tries to befriend Hope, while navigating some issues in her own life. I enjoyed it.
