A daring druis with a thousand-year-old secret.A fiery love defying the magic of the realms. And an ancient, desperate soul hungry for vengeance.
For druis Avalina Llahenór, collecting lost souls and guiding them to the afterlife has always been her natural gift. But, when she discovers she is part of a thousand-year-old secret that gives new meaning to her clairvoyant abilities, she learns things about herself she never imagined–and a possible explanation of why she can see a handsome stormy-eyed stranger no one else can.
Thorben hasn’t spoken with a single person in ten years–until a perceptive, spirited woman breaks the silence, giving him hope for a future he had believed to be impossible. Ava could be the key to lifting his curse, but her giving heart and beautiful soul could distract him from chasing after hope he’d thought was long gone.
When Ava, Thorben, and her friends uncover the ambitious but delusional commodore’s plan to destroy the barriers holding the island realms in place, she must do whatever it takes to stop him. Or the realms–and the people she loves–will float away into nothingness.
Can Ava claim every part of her deep-rooted past and take a chance on love–even if she might lose it? Saving the realms will require a sacrifice of life–and who is better suited to bind the Five Realms and their souls together than an ancient, powerful druis…
There are books, and then there are BOOKS. Three Coins From A Dead Man's Pocket by Myrenne Mae is most definitely a BOOK with a capital B 💜
This story will enchant you, enthrall you, keep you interested and entertained, and, above all, keep you deep into the world Myrenne has created. And what a world it is! It's an exceptionally built world; you will want to enter the pages and find your place there 🌃
Three Coins From A Dead Man's Pocket is a steamy, magical steampunk epic fantasy with lots of action and unique world-building, with intelligent, compassionate heroines, unexpected romance, and a desperate mission to save the world. But even this description doesn't just relate to the story because it is so much more 💜
It is a story about love, true love for family, friends, and the one your heart beats for. It is love that conquers, love that breaks curses, and love that ultimately will save the world 💜
But at what cost?
Three Coins From A Dead Man's Pocket will gift you ✨a daring druis with a thousand-year-old secret, ✨a cursed mage desperate for a cure, ✨a fiery love defying the magic of the realms, ✨an ancient, desperate soul looking for vengeance.
And, above it, Three Coins From A Dead Man's Pocket will gift you genuine emotions, emotions that envelop each and every page; you will love, you will rage, you will cry, you will mourn. You will end up emotionally devastated, but trust me, it will be so worth it.
And that is why this is a BOOK with a capital B – it is deep, intricate, all-consuming, thought-provoking, heart-shattering, exhilarating, tear-jerking, enchanting… I could go on and on and use all the adjectives I could think of, and it still wouldn't do it justice.
MAN oh man! Ur world building is simple yet beautiful! I’m LOVING Thorben…Mr mysterious and cute 😮💨 and of course Ava!!! My sweet innocent girl! The role she is, is a mixture between two characters in DnD and the “box” she holds is a DnD item 😏 This whole book reference DnD but isn’t that at all. I know, sounds weird but it’s SO original and absolute BEAUTIFUL!!!🤩 It’s DnD necromancy and Thorben a Druid with cyberpunk Romantasy! Seriously! Read this book!
I really really enjoyed the steampunk vibes and setting, and magic was different and unique. I enjoyed reading it and imagining the world, this would be a great tv series. Netflix, are you reading this? But what was that ending? Why did you did Thorben so dirty? And I'm really hoping to see more backstory on Flip and Dahlia!
Three Coins From a Dead Man's Pocket by Myrenne Mae is a captivating and imaginative tale that weaves together magic, romance, and a thrilling fight for survival in a beautifully crafted steampunk fantasy world. Though the story starts at a slow burn, by the time I reached the 30% mark, I was completely hooked and eagerly flipping pages to find out what happened next. The unique world-building, where realms hang in balance and airships soar through the skies, adds a layer of intrigue that kept me immersed from beginning to end.
Ava is a strong yet compassionate heroine. The love triangle hinted at throughout the story had me on the edge of my seat, and I was thrilled by her final choice, especially when her love interest proved himself worthy in the most unexpected way. Yet, for future editions, I am still rooting for the other guy possibly. The suspense in this book is palpable, particularly as we near the end, which leaves you eagerly awaiting the next installment.
My only minor critique is personal: the spice level was a bit hotter than I typically prefer. For those who enjoy more than just a hint of heat, the romance will undoubtedly hit the mark, but I found myself skimming a few of the more intense scenes. Still, the emotional depth and chemistry between the characters were undeniable, making it a worthy read despite my personal preference.
Overall, this is a must-read for fans of epic fantasy with strong romantic subplots, intricate world-building, and well-developed characters. I can't wait for the next book and am crossing my fingers that one day this exciting series makes it to the big screen!
A truly amazing and unforgettable read. When I read the last sentence, I needed a moment to just sit with all the thoughts and emotions the book gave me. I loved the magic system, it was unique and refreshing. It’s cool how songs can be spells and it was so entertaining to see how they were used. There was never a dull moment with this read.
Thorben, sweet, Thorben. I liked him from the jump and that feeling only ever grew, or rather, blossomed. I had a moment where I doubted his virtue, but his actions quickly corrected that.
And I love Ava, too. A strong FMC who is able to use magic and defend herself. Her soul is so sweet and she’s so kind. Everything about her was likeable. She and Thorben make for a better match than Ava with Toby. Sorry Toby!
Dáhlia was a really good friend and so was Flip. I did NOT see that surprise coming. IYKYK. The action was great, things were easy to picture and to follow. The climaxes of the story were well-written and thought out. Myrenne is so good at describing magic visuals, it is quite impressive. I think my favourite parts of her magic system are how Ava is basically a soul keeper, her power to conduit and harbour souls, then there’s Thorben’s plant magic (especially the spicy kind).
I loved the part about the trees finding treasures for him and giving them to him. I loved his connection with nature and his ability to build with nature. The different realms were pretty cool as well. The whole reincarnation thing is right up my alley. I loved how the emotions, movements, and appearances of the souls were described. Loved how they interacted with Ava especially. Wonderful stuff.
Thank you to @siena.trap.books and @lunaliterary.management for the opportunity to read the advanced copy of this unique story.
I finally found a book that scratched that DnD itch. This story was so unique in world building, the magic system was like nothing I'd seen before, and that ending had me drowning in my feelings for a long time. Book 2 releases soon, I'm dying for it!

I received an advanced copy of this refreshed and republished book and I am leaving this review voluntarily. The above opinions are my own.
This book was absolutely everything I was hoping for and so much more! The author is an amazing writer and I will literally read anything she puts together! Her characters are so amazingly well written. The romance, steampunk fantasy, turmoil- chef’s kiss perfection. Ive never been a fan of steampunk but her writing had me from page one and I feel head over heels for this book.
If you ever watched Treasure Plant and totally crushed on Jim Hawkins 🙋♀️🤭 this is a must read for you!
This steampunk fantasy romance is unique to anything I've yet to read with a fast-paced adventure and a swoony romance. Superb worldbuilding and lively characters fuel the Realms of Souls, making this first book in the saga a page turner.
I loved this book so much I have both the e-version and also a special edition hardcover.
There is so much to love about this world. I absolutely loved this fantastical, steampunk realm. The magic was handled so beautifully. Our cast of characters encounters so much in their journey to save the world. I was angry, laughing, and even crying at different points in the book.
I don't normally read romance, but this story pulled me in easily. I supported this book on Kickstarter, and gave happily shared the Amazon link with friends. It's a fun and easy read with a captivating story in a world I didn't expect to love as much as I do.
This book was not for me. I could have done with half the characters as long as they had been fully developed. Presumably, the sequel(s) will develop these more, but as a standalone, it doesn’t stand alone.
I would have fallen deeper in love with this world, but I just couldn't immerse myself fully with some of the dialogue and how Avalina drools over two men like someone in their early twenties.
