The Fae King Duology #3

Bonded by Destiny

Rate this book
A bond I fought. A princess I couldn't resist.

I know my place in this world. I'm the blacksmith who forges weapons for the Day Court, the half-breed brother of their queen. I've got my forge, my hammer, and enough sense to know when something's not for me.
Then I saw her. Alette. A Human princess with sad eyes and too much strength for someone so delicate. The soul bond hit me like a hammer to the anvil—immediate, undeniable, and completely unwanted.
I knew what would happen if I fought it. Every Orc does. Fight the bond, lose your mind. But Humans don't stay with Orcs. My mother proved that twice over. Better to go mad than watch her walk away.
So I pushed her away first. Made her think I hated her. And when she returned to the Human kingdom for her arranged marriage, I told myself it was for the best.
Now the darkness is winning. The rage builds every day without her. My choice is clear—follow her into the Human kingdom and claim what my soul says is mine, or let the madness take me completely.
I'd rather face execution in the Human court than live another day without my soul bond.
I'm Garrick. And this is how I nearly lost everything because I was too stubborn to admit that sometimes, what scares you most is exactly what you need.

Bonded by Destiny is a companion novel to The Fae King Duology and can be read as a standalone! It's a closed-door romantasy featuring forbidden love, soul-bonds, court politics, morally gray nobles, "you touched her, you will perish," tender blacksmith hands, and found family. Perfect for readers who love seeing prejudice challenged by destiny's choice. One-click today and discover if fate knows better than centuries of hatred.

Bonded by Destiny is Garrick's story and a guaranteed HEA.

Garrick’s story

After being saved from the Evil fae group Arlette is being forced to go back to human realm as her father, king, wants to marry her off- but has never been treated fairly and only used as a pawn. But has a match with Garrick who has been fighting bond as he does not deem himself worthy. Well… until she leaves without telling everyone and he goes crazy to get to her. Yes a love story, zero smut but lots of twists and betrayal. I cannot wait until Milori’s story comes out!!!

So excited to be back in this world and what a fun addition to the series this book is!

This book is about Garrick and his soul bond, Alette, who we met in book 2. I really enjoyed all the Garrick & Milori banter, I loved getting to know Alette's brother Cedric. There is once again political drama, there's hiding and escaping, there's secrets and big reveals, really fun! I think this is my favourite book in the series so far.

I highly recommend reading books 1 and 2 before, otherwise you may be a bit lost in the world lore because a lot is happening with the kingdoms 🤯

And that ending, whoa! setting up book 4 👀 my hopes are for Milori to finally find love (and perhaps to learn more about humans 🤔)

Thank you to the author for the opportunity to read this Advanced Copy, this comes out on January 25th (so very soon!) Books 1 and 2 are available on Kindle Unlimited if you need to catch up or wanna revisit Emilia and Timas' story.

Also can we appreciate how cool the cover is??? Even on my b&w ereader, it looked so pretty.

It was lovely to read Garrick's and Alette's story. The growth in Alette through this book is great. Love seeing her become empowered and to take her life and decisions into her own hands. The relationship between them was sweet. Garrick and Milori's banter is always top notch. A great addition to the series and an overall great quick read.

Thanks to TM Goodkey for sending me an eARC of this book. I truly appreciate it.

I'm so glad that T.M. Goodkey decided to continue this series! I loved getting back into the world of Sonas and fated bonds. This story of Garrick and Alette was sweet and trying, but it all came together very well! I loved seeing Timas & Emilia's story. Of course, Milori was hilarious, as always. I can't wait to continue with Milori's story. Really rooting for that guy to get his happy ending! 🥹 this is an enjoyable read, and I enjoyed it very much!!

Bonded By Destiny is a beautifully crafted tale of love, destiny, and self-discovery set against a rich and immersive fantasy world. Garrick, a brooding orc struggling with his soul bond and fear of rejection, and Alette, a human princess yearning for freedom from her royal obligations, take readers on an emotional journey full of tension, longing, and unexpected connections.

The alternating perspectives of Garrick and Alette offer a deeper understanding of their personal struggles, and the chemistry between them feels both intense and tender. Supporting characters like the mischievous Milori and the fierce but kind Emilia bring warmth and humor to the story, balancing the heavier themes of identity, societal expectations, and the sacrifices demanded by love. The lush descriptions of the fae courts, orc traditions, and human kingdoms are mesmerizing, painting a vivid and magical backdrop for the characters’ journeys.

While the story captivated me, there were moments when Garrick's self-doubt felt repetitive, and Alette’s agency occasionally took a backseat. Additionally, some exposition about the soul bond and kingdom dynamics could have been more seamlessly woven into the narrative.

Overall, Bonded By Destiny is a captivating fantasy romance that tugs at your heartstrings while keeping you grounded in a fascinating world of magic, politics, and cultural conflict. Perfect for fans of slow-burn romance and rich, character-driven storytelling.

Would I recommend it? Absolutely. Garrick and Alette’s journey is worth every emotional moment.

I don’t even know where to begin with how good this book is!!! I loved book 1 and 2 of the Fae King duology so I knew this was going to be good but this was soooooooo good!!

In this book we get to follow Garrick and Alette’s story. It’s an absolute joy to witness Alette come into her own, learn that she is worth so much more than being someone’s arm piece and find her inner strength. We also get to see Garrick finally admit his feelings and learn how to communicate them properly!

Of course we got plenty of Milori and Garrick banter which had me laughing out loud so many times and trust me when I say, that’s not an easy thing to do!

There was some really great side characters in this book too but my favourite was Cedric, Alettes younger brother. It was a joy to watch a boy turned man learn how to honor himself, his sister and his kingdom. As always there are some absolutely hateful baddies!!

TM Goodkey is the one author I can guarantee will get me out of a book slump and I will never stop recommending her books. They are the best cozy fantasy has to offer. All the brilliant aspects of fantasy books without the hard to decipher world building and nonsense names mixed with all the aspects of a cozy mystery where you just get sucked in and look forward to reading it everyday under a blanket with a cup of tea!

What an Amazing Story. It is both explosive and sensually heartwarming as a young princess struggles with her duties to her kingdom when she is forced into an arranged marriage by her greedy father. Can she forget the big green Orc half breed who really owns her heart? Will she find the courage once she knows his feelings for her to stand up for herself and her happiness? Or will she remain dutiful to her kingdom?

Great series. Glad Garrick got his own story, even if he was a stubborn headed fool at the beginning.
I loved watching Alette grow as a character and become a strong woman.
Good captivating storyline about a soul bonded pair that try to fight their feelings as one is a princess who is being forced into an arranged marriage to vile man and the other a half orc half human with abandonment issues. There is plenty of banter and witty comments. I am looking forward to Milori's story next.

For me, this was great as a stand alone. I have not read the first 2 books and didn't feel lost. I love the teasing and banter between Milori and Garrick, always lightening the mood.

I plan to read the two books I've missed. The characters are so fun.

T.M. Goodkey once again brings to life the world of Fae, Orcs, and humans. I love this world she’s built, and this story was a great addition! Love getting stories where side characters get to be the main character!

Our favorite characters return in this addition of The Fae King Duology. We’re focusing on Garrick and Alette. Alette is so sweet and has been so horribly mistreated. I’m her biggest cheerleader for her getting her HEA. She deserves to find her rightful place. Garrick starts off ridiculous and fighting the bond he feels to Alette. I was so frustrated with him at the beginning because he was just letting fears make him stubborn. He had to work through those to fight for what matters. Also, Milori is back, and I love the brotherly banter and fighting they do. It’s hilarious.

The plot was well paced and had plenty of turns throughout. It’s full of danger, hidden agendas, forced engagement, surprising allies, and secret passages!

Overall, recommend this whole series!

Read if you enjoy:
✨forced engagement
✨bonded mates
✨hidden agendas
✨secret passages
✨rescue mission

Violence: mild nothing too gory
Strong Language: none
Spice: none just sweet kisses

I don't think this author could write a book in this series that I do not fall in love with! The romance is always amazing, and I absolutely love the found family in this! Milori and Garrick's bantering back and forth and is comedic gold!

Talking about this book specifically, the soul bond was done beautifully! Absolutely perfect! When Garrick goes after Alette and they are reunited, it was so touching. I won't say anymore because then I will end up spoiling something

I 1000% recommend reading this book!
