A bond strong enough to unite the continent is one she’ll cross realms for.
Their temporary solution to a god-sized problem leaves the Compass Points with only one option–to journey beyond the veil. Carter and Juliette’s secrets, now surfaced, make the path clear. But the realm’s ruler has secrets of her own, and the machinations of the Lost God are more far-reaching than anyone expects.
If they’re to restore balance and rid the continent of the mist that plagues it, Rose must trust the connection that’s been building deep in the heart of her magic since she first met the Suden Point. Being bound may be an impossibility, but Rose and Luc’s path has always defied expectations.
Bound Paths is the third book in the Compass Points series. It is the conclusion of Rose & Luc’s story, but readers can expect more stories of the Compass Points.

And that’s a wrap on the original Compass Points trilogy and Rose and Luc’s story. It’s a little bittersweet to say a fond farewell to them, but author Jillian Witt has given hints she’s not done in this world, so perhaps we’ll get some potential cameo appearances.
Readers, if you’re looking for a cozy fantasy romance series that also integrates interesting but contained worldbuilding – and is now COMPLETE – let me be the first to recommend the Compass Points series. You’ll need to first the first two books of the series to ideally best understand the events of this third and final book.
Bound Paths picks up almost exactly after the epic cliffhanger ending of the previous book. Rose and Luc are separated, but the two are learning, together and now alone, that their bond may be uniquely intimate – and strong enough to unite the continent. But with a veil separating the pair, Rose must now turn to the other Compass Points to work together. They all have secrets of their own, and special powers, and it must be through trust, sometimes blindly, for things to reveal themselves.
I grew fonder of the other Compass Points, Carter and Juliette, during this book. Some of their backstories were revealed and deeper personalities explored. I have a feeling that when the author decides to venture back to this world, we’ll see some stories featuring these characters and potential love interests. In this book we saw Carter becoming incredibly close to and intertwined with Cassandra, the Lady of the Veil, so their stories may converge at some point in the future. Juliette is the one I’m not totally sure of where I can see her going next. I thought I saw some crumbs of a Juliette x Zrak situation happening, and I will be the first to say that I’d be here for that, if anyone is listening.
Supporting characters added life and color to the series, particularly characters like Arie. It was nice to see him reunited with his long-lost love, Aurora. I’m still not sure I totally understand all of Zrak’s motivations, but perhaps that’s on purpose and is being left to explore in a future book *cough* with Juliette *cough*.
Because we are potentially getting that Carter x Cassandra (Lady of the Veil) book/series, I thought there were too many backstory scenes included in Bound Paths. I found myself wanted to stay in the present timeline more, and felt the amount of time jumps could’ve been reduced.
I never usually say this, but I almost think this series could’ve used another book, having this one, Book 3, as the penultimate book, and Book 4 being the finale. I say this because the two main characters and love interests were separated for the majority of the book, and it showed. I love that the author tried to circumvent this with giving the MCs another way to “communicate”, and it worked to an extent for a little while. But there was an ultimate point where all the buildup and tension by the reader should’ve been rewarded with a reunion scene, but a tease (more than once) and a final reunion scene that was way too short for my taste. So, I say I would’ve liked to see four books, because Bound Paths would work so much better as the lead up to the finale, where all the MCs, and particularly the main couple, are reunited in the flesh and ready to take on the final threat together.
I’m so glad I found this series. It fit into a place in my heart where cozy romantic fantasy with worldbuilding was lacking, and for that, I’ll always be grateful. Rose and Luc were a brilliant couple to read about falling in love. They were sweet, but also saucy, and everything in between. They’ll be a hard couple to contend with!
My Compass Points series Ratings #1 Compass Points - 4✨ #2 Tangled Power – 4.25✨ #3 Bound Paths – 3.75✨
Thank you NetGalley for the digital ARC of this title.
Rose and the other Compass Points are trying to formulate a plan to retrieve Luc from beyond the Veil. The problem is, they don't know much about the realm or the mysterious Lady of the Veil that protects it. They must use their new-found relationships and trust to bring Luc home and bring order to the continent.
This should have been a duology. There was not enough happening in Books 2 and 3 to justify this being a triology. I was bored out of my mind for both of the books.
I’m really sad this series is over. I don’t know how to explain it other than this book felt like a book by an adult, written by adults. No miscommunication, no are we/aren’t we together, no petty games or third act break up. Even the friendships despite starting more as enemies that work together, were still respectful. I hope she does a connected series following other characters
4.5 Ah what a nice series finale ! I really liked the dual timelines, going back into the past to slowly understand the role played by one of the characters was definitely captivating ! I enjoyed spending more time with Carter, and the discovery of Luc and Rose's abilities together. I was pretty much bothered by two of the gods (not naming them, this space is spoiler free). The eyerolls... Traveling between realms was also a good point, as it kept the rhythm of the book pretty consistent. All in all, a cute and fun series that I'd recommend !
A beautiful conclusion to Rose & Luc's story. Jillian wrapped their story with a lovely bow. If you need a lower stakes romantasy with strong characters, romance and adventure- you need to add it your TBR now.
This whole series felt like a hug. I loved the found family that Rose found along her journey. The gentle confirmations from Luc (he is such a supportive partner and has so much faith in Rose).
Loved getting more background about the Gods and the Lady of the Veil.
Can I also mention how this series and the book covers have soooo much hidden meaning behind each cover and I love it. You won't know until you read them.
I also am very excited for the hints of a future story.
Bound Paths, the third and final instalment in Jillian Witt’s Compass Points series, is a cosy fantasy brimming with high stakes, found family, Gods, and a world rich in elemental magic. Picking up immediately where book two left off, the story follows the cast as they venture beyond the veil to save one of their own and confront a God.
This instalment introduces a dual timeline and POV from 550 years ago, which weaves beautifully into the story as the timelines converge in the conclusion. The history of the veil and its keeper was fascinating to uncover, and Jillian executed the dual timeline flawlessly - a feat that can be tricky to pull off.
The magical world Jillian created continues to shine as it’s so intricate, yet wonderfully easy to immerse yourself in. While the pacing felt a little slow initially (it wasn’t until around the 50% mark that I was fully gripped), the characters kept me invested.
The characters in this series hold such a special place in my heart. Rose’s growth is a highlight as she accepts her place in the world and embraces her powers. Arie remains one of my all-time favourite side characters - I live for his witty jabs! Juliette also deserves an honourable mention as she's definitely grown on me the most.
The romance between Rose and Luc takes a quieter role in this book, but their bond remains beautifully present. Jillian writes Rose as strong and capable on her own, with Luc loving and respecting her for it, which makes their relationship all the more compelling.
Bound Paths delivers a heartwarming conclusion to the series that is filled with fascinating magic, beloved characters, playful banter, and a heartwarming romance. While this wraps up the series beautifully, there’s a hint that there may be more stories from this world - and I can’t wait to dive back in when the time comes!

“𝘐 𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶, 𝘪𝘵’𝘴 𝘢 𝘮𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘭 𝘰𝘣𝘴𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯”
Bound Paths continues Rose and Luc’s story after the shocking events of the previous book. With secrets unsurfaced, the Compass Points must work together to restore balance across the continent.
Tropes: 💞 Bonded Fae 🧎🏻 He crawls for her ☁️ Meddling Gods 💫 Elemental Magic 🧑🧑🧒🧒 Found Family 🗣️ Banter ❤️🔥 HEA 🌶️: mild to moderate
In this final installment, we journey beyond the veil itself and learn the bleak history of its keeper through a dual timeline narrative. The author builds a magical world that is rich and complex yet easy to grasp.
What begins as fake dating blossoms into a true partnership and a deep love spanning the course of the series. I adore these characters so much! Rose slowly comes to terms with her place in the world, embraces her gifts and is determined to get back what was taken from her. While Rose is capable and strong on her own, Luc completes her. He’ll do anything to protect her and has complete faith in her abilities. Can their connection continue to defy everything and bring them together at last?
Bound Paths is a heartwarming conclusion filled with thrilling magic, fun banter, beloved characters, and a dazzling romance!
The Compass Points trilogy is a perfect sweet escape and I cannot wait to see what’s next in this world.
Huge thanks to the author for the ARC opportunity! This is my honest and voluntary review.
3-3.5 stars! This was a really interesting and fun series, i liked it! However, I feel like this dragged on much longer than needed It just felt like it could’ve been a duology, but I still think the events leading up to the end were pretty good! And I got bored at some parts which really made it tough to get through But I enjoyed the story and action, I liked how the romance was very sweet and there were not as many spicer scenes The characters were all pretty interesting, and i’m glad they got a happy ending :3 a very cozy, low stakes vibe EDIT: I WISH THERE WAS DUAL POV 😭😭😭 i liked The Lady of the Veil’s story tho
Rating: 5/5 I received an eARC for my honest opinion.
This is the third and final book of The Compass Points, I am so sad that Rose and Luc’s story has come to an end. Witt did an amazing job with their conclusion to the story, I loved that she had all the Compass points come together to save the realm and finally defeat a tyrant god, but with Luc stuck beyond the veil, the only way that Rose can save him is with the help of Carter in his Veil Cat form. The road to success is not going to be easy at all, they will have to battle for their lives, find a way to get rid of a god and save their realm. Can these new Compass Points change the world that they live in for the better or will they fail?
I loved getting to read The Compass Points and I am so thankful that Witt asked me to review the first book because this trilogy will hold a special place in my heart. I won’t go into many details about the plot because let me tell you, if you’re worried about finishing up this series and having it being let down, don’t be! You will love the conclusion of this series; the ending was fantastic, and you will see that there is another book coming out about Carter and Cassandra. Who is Cassandra, you ask? Well, you will need to read this book, and you will be so excited like the rest of the fans of this book. In this book you will find action, drama, elemental magic, found family, bonded fae, jerk gods and goddess/awesome gods and goddess and so much more. I loved that in this book you will see the plot but the characters really still the story away. I loved getting to see the characters' growth in this book and to see the struggles that they have had to dig their way out of and to shine. I loved that you would see that everyone in the book, well other than that jerk God (lol) come together to build a better realm for their people. To let all humans and fae know that it’s okay to love whomever they want and having mixed bloodlines doesn’t matter at all. However, it was the characters’ communication skills that really blew this book away and you will see the growth in the characters because of this that really got me. Seeing the characters finally stepping out of their skin and opening up, talking about their needs and wants without having the fear of something happening. I love that you can see that everyone really does care, and they care about each other’s feelings. I loved seeing how Luc and Rose connected even when they were not in the same realm and learning to understand their bond and seeing how Rose accepted this. I found that their relationship was so much stronger than anyone would have believed, and seeing the ending of their story was so beautiful. They finally get their HEA, and they deserve it so much.
The other side characters just add to the book’s wonderful story, but you will see throughout the book that there is a connection between the Compass Point Carter and the Goddess of the Viel, and when you get to the ending to see that we will be getting another book from Witt and its about those two characters, I did a happy dance. You will be able to dive into a world that is so beautiful and be able to close your eyes and picture it due to Witts’s attention to details, her writing style and the beautiful characters that she writes.
If you’re in the mood to read a fantasy book with action, romance, elemental magic, beautiful writing, fast-paced and that will leave you warm and fuzzy you need to read this book.
I want to thank NetGalley and Jillian Witt for the opportunity to review this book.
𝑀𝑦 𝑇ℎ𝑜𝑢𝑔ℎ𝑡𝑠💭🧐 Thank you so much to @mythandmagicbookclub and @bookofmatchesmedia for my gifted ARC of 𝘽𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙 𝙋𝙖𝙩𝙝𝙨! This review is comprised entirely of my own thoughts & opinions, & is based on the copy I received.
I felt so many emotions going into this book knowing it is the end of Rose and Luc’s story! I was so excited and also so sad because I love these two characters so much. This book was so amazing and beautiful and I couldn’t put it down for so many reasons. The writing, as always with this series, was impeccable and beautifully descriptive, the found family and the characters were amazing, and the plot was exciting, romantic, and captivating in every way! How Jillian manages to artfully mix cozy and romantic vibes with epic quests and fantastical elements is absolutely beyond me, but I loved everything about this book!
As always, the scenery in this book, and the entire series, is BREATHTAKING! Jillian’s inspiration being from National Parks makes the world sound so beautiful and I always have the most beautiful visuals in my mind when I read these books!
The characters and the found family in this series are some of the best I’ve ever seen. Rose and Luc are relationship goals, and while they were separated for some of this book, I loved seeing them reunite and loved seeing their story get the ending they deserve. They are just everything to me and I love their relationship so much! We love a healthy and loving relationship!
I LOVED getting to see more of the other Compass Points ✨cough✨Carter✨cough✨ and I’m super excited and hopeful that we’ll get to see more of them in the future!! I’m extremely intrigued by the Lady of the Veil as well and am also hopeful we’ll get to see more of her in the future of this world, too!
I am SO sad to see Rose and Luc’s story come to a close, but am also so happy that they accomplished everything they wanted to AND am so happy and emotional that they got the ending they deserve. Jillian has hinted this isn’t the last we’ll be seeing of the Compass Points so I cannot wait to see what the future of this series holds!
I have been on this journey with Jillian Witt's Compass Points series since Book 1, equally titled Compass Points.
The unique elements that drew me in books 1 and 2 are present in Book 3, elevated to a higher level if that is even possible. This whole series is a true testament to Jillian's unmatched ability to create a masterfully crafted fantasy. The Compass Points series is a must-read if you're looking for a fantasy experience that piques your curiosity and stands out. Bound Paths, the third and final book of the series, is being released on December 11th, so waste no time and dive into this world with me.
US National Parks inspire the story's scenery, embodying nature's beauty and its need to obtain and maintain the natural balance of things. This balance was disrupted by one of the gods, a rogue deity who seeks to upset the harmony of the world. The story's core is the quest to repair this balance, which falls on the leaders of the four fae courts, Compass Points. After the devastating ending of Tangled Power, Book 2, I was holding my breath until I had Bound Paths in my hands.
The third book truly was an epic series finale. It had everything—intriguing and loving characters, secrets hidden and unlocked, mysteries solved, meddling gods, friendships and alliances. Above all, it had love, the type that transcends the boundaries of time, place, and other realms. It had the most beautifully and perfectly executed communication skills I've yet to see in fantasy books. The characters really tried to understand each other and each other's points of view; they did their best to communicate their needs and wants without imposing them; they honestly cared about other opinions. The Compass Points worked together as a team, and only as a team were they able to restore the continent's balance.
"As much as she had enjoyed him on his knees, crawling to her in the heart of her magic, there was no ledger between them. "One doesn't preclude the other", he said, hearing her thoughts and winking at her across the room".
I feel like this paragraph perfectly sums up Luc and Rose's relationship; they are lovers, and they are partners. They are bound, and they work together towards a better future. These two are the sweetest, and I will miss reading about them so much.
Bound Paths and the entire Compass Points series are more than worth your time, trust me. This series will stay on your mind, and you will think about it often. Gift yourself Jillian's story; you won't regret it.
Thank you to Jillian Witt for my complimentary copy of Bound Paths. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Bound Paths is the 3rd book in the Compass Points trilogy. It is best to read the series in order. I suggest having all of them available because you are going to want to binge them.
What a touching conclusion to Rose and Luc’s story. I really enjoyed the back and forth timeline as it provided much needed information.
No miscommunication or third act breakup. Just a loving and supportive romance set in a cozy fantasy world. Found family is a favorite trope and this one definitely delivers.
It seems we haven’t left this cozy world for good, as there are hints for a connected story.
The Lady of the Veil was such an interesting plot point, dual timelines/POVs is always a nice touch too.
Rose and Luc have such a healthy relationship with really good communication, and fun banter. The found family is strong, and it's just an enjoyable series overall.
I really enjoyed this book and all the characters with secrets that they learn it’s better to trust than try and fix it yourself lol I can see spinoff series or it continuing but with a different couple as the main characters either way I’m excited to see what comes next ❤️
This series was fine. Not my favorite but a mostly enjoyable read. This last book, however, was too much talk and not enough action. The ending was wrapped up too quickly and conveniently and I never felt like there were any real stakes.
Thank you so much Jillian Witt and behindthepagesPA for the eARC of Bound Paths. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
To say I was eagerly awaiting the third, and final, installment in the Compass Points trilogy is an understatement. The conclusion of Tangled Power left me reeling and I could hardly wait to find out what happened after that shocking ending! Well, the wait is over and I’m glad to report that the conclusion of the series is so satisfying. I don’t want to give anything away about the plot, so instead I’ll discuss some of my favorite themes that graced the pages.
Found family is one of my favored tropes and it showed up in a big way in Bound Paths. Our FMC, Rose, made a lot of progress towards building her own tribe in the previous installments, but Bound Paths is where it all comes to fruition. I loved seeing some key players finally let their guards down and the incredible impact it had upon the continent.
Another big part of the story was being honest with yourself. Rose and Luc had a really beautiful emotional journey towards accepting, and celebrating, an important aspect of their relationship. I appreciated reading Rose’s thought process here because it felt so real. She struggled a bit before accepting what’s been in front of her all along, which I think a lot of readers will relate to.
Finally, acknowledging your mistakes. At least two characters grappled with this, but they actively worked to ask forgiveness and attempted to right the consequences of their choices. This isn’t a trope I read about often, but I really respect it because it makes the story feel that much more genuine and authentic.
Bottom line: Bound Paths is a fantastic read and I can’t wait to read Carter and Cassandra’s story!
In the pages, you will find: ❤️Bonded Fae 😍He crawls for her 🐦⬛Meddling gods 🪄Elemental Magic 🤝Found family 🥰Happily Ever After 📘An amazing conclusion to the trilogy 📖A promise of more to come for two secondary characters!
4.5⭐️ Bound Paths is an exciting and romantic conclusion to Rose and Luc's story in Compass Points
Reeling from the events at the end of Tangled Power, Rose is determined to bring the Compass Points together to save the realm and defeat a meddlesome, power-hungry god. But to reunite with Luc, Rose must travel beyond the veil. But the ruler of that realm, Cassandra, The Lady of the Veil, has her own agenda, and is frustrated by the actions on the continent. Rose needs her allies, and for the four groups of fae to unite and put their differences behind them for the good of the realm, or risk losing everything.
I really enjoyed this third book in the Compass Points series. I loved to see how the events of the past shaped the present. I also really enjoyed the new characters like Cassandra, and I am curious to see if they will play a role in future books. I also liked learning more about the other Compass Points, like Carter especially. This book had a great found family element, which was so important for Rose's character given her past. I also really, really enjoyed the relationship between Rose and Luc. As a reader, I don't always love when the main couple is separated, but this book had a unique approach to this trope, and it left me feeling so good about this couple. They were solid and committed to each other throughout. It was also good to see how the different characters overcame their biases to work together. The ending was exciting, and a satisfying conclusion to Rose and Luc's part of this story. While this may be the final story in Rose and Luc's arc, there are some crumbs left in this book that I hope will be explored more future stories in this series.
Thank you so much to Jillian Witt for the advanced copy of this lovely book! All opinions are my own.
▸ Finishing this book is such a bittersweet moment for me! 🥲 I've followed along since Compass Points (book 1 of the trilogy) and felt like my emotions for the main characters grew as they continued their journey throughout the books. So I'm happy with the ending, but am so sad that I won't be seeing them anymore! Though, I do think Jillian has something up her sleeve for some of the side characters from Compass Points. 😉
This book wrapped up the trilogy so beautifully. I found myself smiling A LOT while reading Bound Paths and that's always a great sign. It had a lot to do with the heartwarming scenes and conversations that the characters had with one another. Especially the sassy, cute, or flirty comments from the boys! 🥰 I seriously love all the guys in the story!! Why are they all such GREEN flags?! 💚 I also like Rose and how strong and aware she is (though it did take her a while to get to 1 very important conclusion that everybody else was aware of 😂), but Luc, Arie, and Carter have my heart!
Bound Paths does have back-and-forth between 2 time periods, which I really enjoyed! You got to see the back history of why things are the way they are, but I truly appreciated how it was strategically done because it still kept us curious to find out more!
I think one of my favorite things about this book is the well crafted integration of life lessons. I don't think I noticed it as much in the previous books, but Bound Paths was full of them! The easiest way for me to explain this book to you is that it's a GOOD book. It has good characters, good movement, good secrets, good relationships (lovers, friends, and family), and good lessons. ❤️
I received this as an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
TLDR: LOVED it! It's a heartwarming, cozy, and beautiful story.
Jillian has outdone herself with this series! Each book adds to the overall storyline beautifully, but each stands strong on its own, not overshadowing the others. Rose and Luc’s story has been amazing since book 1 and has just grown with every book. And although this series is complete, I am excited for more books to come out of this universe. There are so many characters that deserve their stories told and I know Jillian will do them justice.
Rose continues to grow both as a person and into her powers. Her growth throughout the series has been amazing and she has turned into a character that fully captured my heart. She is on her own most of this book, but still has the support of her found family. She has become so strong and capable, I was glad to see her finally relying on herself and leaning into her strengths.
Luc always allows Rose to be herself and pushes her, but in a respectful way. The two MCs being separated for most of this book, allowed readers to see how strong their bond really is and the uniqueness of their bond. Luc has also grown as a character throughout the series and I loved seeing him being ok with Rose’s power, all the while supporting and respecting her.
Jillian provides the perfect ending to this trilogy. The magic system, beloved characters, amazing love story, and witty banter makes this trilogy a great read. Again, I hope to see Jillian give us more stories from this universe. Her characters burrow deep into readers' hearts and stay lodged. You feel their emotions, both good and bad, and route from them til the very end.
As always, review any author notes before reading.

Bound Paths (Compass Points, #3) by Jillian Witt Pub date Dec. 11/2024
First, I would like to thank the author for allowing me the privilege to be on her ARC team for this epic fantasy romance and providing me a copy of this final book in exchange for an honest review. This is the conclusion to a series I have thoroughly enjoyed that explores the power of love, trust, and the unbreakable bond that united powerful fae and creatures in a realm based on the magic of the elements.
The Compass Points (Rose-Norden Point, Luc-Suden Point, Carter-Vesten Point, and Juliette-Osten Point) have their work cut out for them. Rescue Luc from veil, restore the land, save the people from the mist, and work together as a team to accomplish it. Working together was something that the Compass Points had not done in centuries. Nothing will keep Rose from reuniting with Luc now that she just found the one she never thought she needed; her other half to make her whole.
"Forgive me, Rose. I know you'll come for me"
Together, they plan to work hard with the Compass Points to strengthen the lands and make it safe for everyone. That includes stopping the bans of other houses mingling with one another. Rose and Luc's relationship proves that it can be done and it works. Now all she needs to do is get him back and they need to figure out how to reach the veil.
This was a great series. If you love diving into a new magic system with strong main characters with snarky side kicks and a side of spice, you should read this series.
The Compass Points trilogy finally concludes with Bound Paths. I’ve been eagerly waiting for this book, and I’m satisfied with how it ends!
Bound Paths picks up right after the ending of the previous book, Tangled Powe. Rose and the rest of Compass Points now have to rescue their friend, Luc while also figuring out a way to eliminate an evil god—a challenging task even with the help of two gods.
I love seeing how these characters have grown throughout the series. Rose has come so far, from a mere weapons master to a Norden Point. She made the impossible possible by bringing all the Compass Points working together, even with the gods and goddess. Although, I was a bit sad that Rose and Luc were separated for much of the story, but I found myself rooting for them nonetheless!
The addition of the new character, The Lady of the Veil, was a great touch to the story. Her background story was fascinating and I have a feeling we’ll get to explore more about her domain—the land beyond the veil—in the next series featuring a new couple!
Overall, this was a wonderful conclusion for Rose and Luc’s story. They finally get to work on their dreams of creating a better continent with their friends. I’m looking forward for the next series in Compass Points universe and other books by this author in the future!
I received an advanced review copy from the author, and I am leaving this review voluntarily!
Thank you to NetGalley & the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review! Bound Paths was a book I was eagerly waiting to read! I had really enjoyed the prior two books in this trilogy and I found this book to be a very satisfying conclusion. If you enjoyed both Compass Points and Tangled Power, you already know you'll love Bound Paths!
I think this was a great conclusion for fans of Rose & Luc's story and I really have no complaints there. There were times in the beginning of this book that were a little slow, but for the most part it had decent pacing to keep me hooked until the last page. I also really just enjoy this world that Jillian Witt created. She's done such a great job with the world building and I find after reading Bound Paths that I'm excited for potential future stories set in this world. The dual timelines concept in this book was fine, it was well done enough even though that's not often my favorite narrative style.
This is a book I don't recommend you read as a standalone, but I one hundred percent recommend the whole trilogy especially now that I know the third book stuck the landing, so to speak. Overall the Compass Points trilogy is cute and romantic, and best of all fun. I had a great time reading each book, and this last one was no exception. It's definitely as trilogy for all romantasy fans. I can't wait for more from Jillian Witt!
The final book in the Compass Points Trilogy by Jillian Witt, Bound Paths, was released today. You’re not going to want to miss it! This book was about the efforts of Luc, Rose, the rest of the Compass Points, and the gods to finally defeat the Mist Plague, the God Attera, bring balance to the Continent, and rescue Luc from beyond the Veil. I loved this final volume and the way the author skillfully ties up all the loose ends. She effectively resolves all the remaining issues related to Rose and Luc’s story and the quest that the Compass Points had undertaken. I loved that they had to delve into a five centuries old mystery to be successful. I loved the direction that Rose and Luc’s story took and the continued development of relationships between the characters. I adored that the changes that Rose was bringing to the table would create a much more inclusive society. I really liked that a door has been left open for future books in this world. I would very much love to read the story about Carter and Cassandra which the author made reference to in her author’s remarks. This was a great trilogy and I highly recommend it to readers who enjoy cozy romantasy. The entire series is available in Kindle Unlimited.
I would like to thank Jillian Witt and Netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.
Wow, this was such a captivating and immersive read. Bound Paths delivers high-stakes fantasy, layered characters, and a story that feels both epic and deeply personal. This one felt like it was written for adult fantasy lovers without losing the heart and magic that draws us to the genre in the first place.
One of my favorite elements was the dual timelines. Watching the past unfold piece by piece and realizing how it shaped the present especially in relation to one particular character was so well done. It kept me engaged and added emotional weight to the choices being made in the current storyline.
The journey beyond the veil, the tension among the Compass Points, the secrets between Carter and Juliette there’s so much happening, and yet it never feels overwhelming. Jillian Witt paces it just right, revealing just enough while still holding on to that sense of mystery. And just when you think you understand the stakes, the Lost God and the realm’s ruler throw another wrench into the plan.
This book blends adventure, romance, and political tension beautifully. It’s mature in tone, emotionally rich, and has just the right amount of slow burn tension to keep me turning the pages late into the night.
Bound Paths is the third fantasy romance in the Compass Points series by Jillian Witt.
The Compass Points series is set in a world inspired by United States National Parks, which I think is a fun hook. I loved the worldbuilding, where fae are separated into houses organized by the cardinal directions (north/south/east/west). In this third book, we get a bit more of a peek beyond the veil which was really interesting.
Overall, I really enjoyed reading this series and I found it very easily digestible. I was happy with Rose and Luc's HEA and also excited to see what happens further between two other characters (who I won't mention directly, for fear of spoilers).

Bound Paths is the conclusion to Rose and Luc's story in the Compass Points trilogy. The book truly wrapped everything up so well. With the amount of adventures, quests and tiny details spread throughout the series I was sure something would be missed, but every question I had was answered by the end.
I really enjoyed the character development through the whole series but felt like the characters truly grew in the final installment. We got to really know the Compass Points for who they were. I loved the set up with one of the Compass Points and can't see what is in store for that character.
The magic system was really fun. After you've read many fantasy books like I have it can start feeling a little repetitive. Bound Paths has gods and magic, but they were used differently than gods and magic typically are. The gods have a connection to the Compass Points and the magic used air, fire, water and earth which isn't used often.
The relationship between Rose and Luc was a main focus and is mentioned often, but it definitely tied in with the plot and didn't take over the plot.
Overall I really enjoyed this book and this series!
What an epic conclusion to the Compass Points series. If you're looking for a fantasy series that feels cozy with great world building, interesting magic, great characters and a good romance subplot then give this a try!
After the ending of Tangled Power, I was so impatient to dive into Bound Paths! This book was an emotional rollercoaster - Rose and the compass points face so many challenges. I was also a tad sad cause I missed Luc! That being said, I love the space that was given for the characters and their relationships to grow in this book. We get more backstory from the other two compass points, we learn a lot more about shadow cats and the Lady of the Veil and Rose really comes into her own in this book -not only as a Compass point but also in terms of her magic and her connection with Luc. I felt every set back and win right alongside these characters! And the ending! 😭😭😭 I'm so happy for Rose and Luc. I also can't wait to see if we will get a book about Carter and the Lady of the Veil 👀👀👀.
All in all, a great series! 👏 I definitely recommend.
A big thanks to the author for the ARC for review. All opinions are my own.
Having reached the conclusion of this series, I've decided this is a good cozy series. It has plenty of action, but it's not high on the stress or tension. It's perfect for lounging in a hammock or curling up in a blanket for some fae, magic, and romance.
Bound Paths picks up right where Tangled Power left off and there's minimal review of previous events. (It's worth noting the author does have synopses of the first two books on her website.) So it may be helpful to read the series in close succession for the details.
And can I just say how refreshing it is to have a mature FMC and MMC who have healthy and open communication in a romantasy book? Oh my gosh it's so nice...(sigh).
It's always a bit bittersweet to wrap up a series, but I'm excited we're not completely saying goodbye to our characters -- the author hinted at another book involving a couple of the side characters, which I'm excited about!
Reader's notes: minimal cursing, open-door spice (1-2 pages each scene)
I’m so sad this series is over, but Bound Paths was a perfect ending. Jillian Witt did an amazing job wrapping everything up, and while I’m sad to see it go, I’m really happy with how it all came together.
I’ve loved the magic system throughout the series, and the found family theme always hits me right in the feels. The dynamic between the characters, especially the enemies-to-found family moments, was a huge highlight for me. As a cat lover, I really enjoyed the Veil Cats and Carter—such a fun addition to the story.
I found the dual timelines really interesting and very well done. I usually have trouble keeping track of books that jump between timelines, but I had zero problems with this one. It was seamless and added a lot of depth to the story. I also loved seeing Luc and Rose’s abilities develop.
A huge thank you to Jillian Witt for having me as part of her ARC team since the second book. I’ve absolutely adored being part of this journey with the entire team, and these books hold a special place of honor on my bookshelf.
