It’s been twenty-five years since she saved the world. Now, it’s time to do it again.

Meg Walker was done being the chosen one. After sealing the Hellgate her senior year, she flipped destiny the bird and walked away.

Or so she thought.

On her 42nd birthday, Meg gets a psychic distress call from her best friend who has been in a coma for decades. Someone is trying to open the Hellgate again.

Going home isn’t just about stopping another apocalypse. It means facing the people she left behind, the friends who became strangers, the grudges that never faded, and the exes who still make her pulse skip.

But time is up. The gate is opening. And Meg isn’t the reckless teen who ran away. She’s sharper, stronger, and ready to remind the universe that saving the world isn’t just for the young.

Reunion is book one in The Hellgate Chronicles, an urban fantasy series for readers who know life doesn’t end at forty. It just gets more badass. Buckle up. It’s going to be a hell of a ride.

Reunion is a fun and refresh look at a supernatural/paranormal urban fantasy tale full of action. It’s great to see more authors turning to heroines that are not what most would consider the normal age. No, this heroine is over 40 and can kick ar$e and drink with the best of them. Being the keeper of Hells Gate a place of evil will do that to a gal.
Reunion is jam packed full of action, suspense, and humour and so much more. It has all the elements I love in a great book.
I loved this book. I loved the character, Meg. Actually, I enjoyed the witty and quirky characters that Jocelyn brought to life. Meg not only has to save the world but deal with the supernatural once again to boot, but she must deal with real life problems as well family, kids, friends and I use the term loosely at times, animosity, and much more.
Jocelyn has cleverly crafted a tale that is a tangled web of complex threads to bring about something that readers will thoroughly enjoy.
This wonderful fast-paced tale is the first book in The Hell Gate Chronicles, fantasy series and what a start it is. I can’t wait for more of these characters and the mayhem they get into.

What a fun novel! Meg is not your average hero, and I’m so excited about it. We read all the time about 17-year-old heroines kicking ass and taking names. But what happens after they’ve peaked at such a young age? Where do they go from there?

If Meg is any indication, they get lost for a while, drink too much, and end up at 40 with few real connections and a struggle to fit in with real life. That is until they’re called upon to save the world again. Except this time, Meg knows better. Or maybe not.

She wants to walk away again, keep to herself. After all, what good came from being a hero last time? What an exciting ride it is to find out! I loved the fresh take on Urban Fantasy.

I read an advance copy of this book. Overall, the book is really good - I thought the structure and the pacing were excellent. From start to finish, the pacing is fast – I read the book in two days. It has a pretty badass female main character and several strong female secondary characters. The story involves some interesting moral choices made by the characters and has a great twist element. I would definitely recommend this book.

Twenty Five years later, Meg Walker gets a call from Zaya for help. Someone is trying to open Hellgate again and it is a place that needs to be closed. Returning home is not what Meg wants, but she does what needs to be done. She is not met with a happy reunion though, barbs are slung and she needs some help to stop what is coming. Who can she trust and can they trust her?

This story pulls you right in, page turning action from the first page. The story was very visual and I was constantly surprised at the twists and turns that lay in the paths for everyone. Great story, ready to read the next book.

This is a supernatural end of the world romance story. It has a group of people who have powers and were beat friends in high school. After over 20 years, the main character returns to her hometown where her friends she hasn't seen or spoken to since leaving have lived their lives. They have a lot to overcome, including forgiveness for over the past. I liked the story and the characters. It's pretty detailed, even detailing smells and tastes.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer goes back home in her 40s to save the world again!

I really loved this read. So many Urban Fantasy books focus on MCs in their 20s. It was a really nice change to see Meg, a woman in her 40s (like me!), kicking ass and being awesome, all while dealing with real world challenges in step with magical world problems.

Friendships are the focus rather than romance, which is also a nice turn, and I enjoyed a cast of women characters with complicated, but realistic and supportive relationships. Bellingham, Washington really comes to life with all the fun magical staples I love to see in an urban fantasy read. Not to mention the 80s nostalgia.

The writing is sharp, fun and fast-paced. The ending ties things up for this novel, but very much leaves you wanting to more of the bigger world and the characters.

I'm a very happy ARC reader over here!

Jocelyn Lindsay’s Reunion is a witty, supernatural adventure that blends the nostalgia of ’80s grunge culture with the high-stakes drama of preventing a second apocalypse. At the heart of the novel is Meg Walker, a former teen rebel who, at 42, must return to her hometown and face not only her destiny as a gatekeeper of Hell but also the complicated lives of her old friends and her unresolved personal baggage.

The novel begins with a bang—Meg, now in her forties, is unexpectedly summoned by her comatose high school best friend, warning that someone is about to reopen the Hellgate that Meg had sealed 25 years ago. Lindsay wastes no time throwing Meg into a world of supernatural threats, but the real charm of Reunion lies in the way it deftly balances the fantastical with the deeply personal. While Meg must race against time to stop the apocalypse once again, she also finds herself navigating old flames, reconnecting with estranged friends, and dealing with the everyday messiness of adulthood.

Meg is a wonderfully layered protagonist—sarcastic, fiercely independent, and unapologetically flawed. As a teen, she rejected the expectations placed on her, both by destiny and her small town. Now, faced with the same apocalyptic threat that upended her senior year, she’s forced to reckon with her past decisions. Lindsay does an excellent job of portraying Meg’s reluctant heroism, making her both relatable and refreshingly human. Her inner struggle—returning to a place filled with painful memories and unresolved emotional issues—is just as compelling as the supernatural battle she faces.

The supporting cast, including Meg’s old high school crew, is equally well-drawn, and the group’s reunion adds a rich emotional layer to the story. Each character has grown and changed in their own way over the past two decades, and their interactions feel genuine, filled with the awkwardness and tension of revisiting old relationships. Whether it’s the rekindling of an old romance or the strained friendship dynamics, the novel’s exploration of human relationships is just as central to the plot as the looming apocalypse.

One of the novel’s most enjoyable aspects is its humor. Meg’s snarky, irreverent voice keeps the tone light even as the stakes rise. The juxtaposition of supernatural drama with the everyday absurdities of midlife—like teenage children, failed marriages, and stalled careers—gives Reunion a unique charm. The book asks the question: is stopping the apocalypse easier than facing your high school ex or managing family chaos? Lindsay’s narrative suggests that sometimes, yes, it might be.

The pacing of Reunion is brisk, with plenty of action scenes to keep readers hooked, but it’s the quieter moments of reflection and reconnection that truly stand out. Lindsay navigates the balance between humor, heart, and supernatural thrills with finesse. The Hellgate plot itself, while an exciting and suitably dangerous backdrop, often takes a backseat to the more intimate conflicts within Meg’s personal life. This might frustrate readers expecting a more traditional urban fantasy focus, but for those who enjoy character-driven stories, this approach will feel refreshing.

If there’s any minor critique, it’s that the stakes of the apocalypse sometimes feel overshadowed by the personal drama. While the Hellgate threat is certainly there, the emotional weight of Meg’s relationships often feels like the true core of the story. However, this actually works in the novel’s favor, as it sets Reunion apart from other supernatural thrillers, rooting it in a world where the personal is just as important as the epic.

In conclusion, Reunion by Jocelyn Lindsay is an engaging, funny, and heartfelt novel that seamlessly blends supernatural adventure with a coming-of-middle-age story. Fans of urban fantasy and readers who enjoy stories about reconnecting with the past—both literally and figuratively—will find plenty to love here. Meg Walker is a heroine for anyone who’s ever felt the weight of unfinished business, both in life and in the battle against evil. Reunion is proof that even after 25 years, some fights—whether with demons or your old high school crush—are far from over.

20 years ago, Meg had sealed a Hellgate and had been drifting. Forty-two years old, she had nothing to show for it. The only thing she owned was a picture of the five people that had been part of her group. Her best friend, Ziya, used a psychic link to call for Meg in a dream. Ziya told her she needed to return to Bellingham because someone was opening the Hellgate.
Her visit with Ziya disappoints her since Ziya is in a catatonic state after having a stroke. In Bellingham, Meg learns Allison has been raising Ziya's daughter, Sam. Bianca asserts that she found happiness in Meg's absence. All of them still mourn the death of CeCe. Meg keeps a secret from everyone. Despite their differences, Allison and Bianca insist on joining Meg’s investigation of the Hellgate.
Other residents believe Meg was not a hero that saved the town. Some felt she was guilty of causing CeCe's death. Jacob, CeCe's brother, didn't believe his sister was dead from falling on a hiking trip. Determined to find the truth, he directs his anger at Meg. He couldn't beat Meg in a fair fight. Meanwhile, Meg's emotional turmoil intensifies with all the changes in the people she cares about. Meg realizes she can't keep running. Redemption and closure will only happen if she faces her own problems.
Reunion is a supernatural story narrated from Meg’s perspective. The story focuses on the characters with detailed descriptions of each character. The members of the close-knit group fell apart after CeCe’s death. CeCe had been a necromancer, someone with the ability to communicate with the dead, and should have been capable of raising an army to fight against the Hellgate and the monsters it harbored. The unpredictable plot was shocking, with revelations that captivated my attention and left me eager for more. The details made it easy to envision every moment. The ending left me yearning for a sequel. The book is perfect for fans who enjoy supernatural stories featuring a strong female protagonist with a dark side.

Everything about this stunning new beginning to the Hellgate Chronicles series pulled me in. Jocelyn Lindsay is a new author to me, and I will continue to recommend her to everyone. You never know if you don’t give her a try, right? From the eye-catching cover to the line and sinker of the synopsis I knew I had to give this book a try and I was not disappointed. I grew up on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and in a lot of ways I got those same nostalgic feels when I read the synopsis. So glad I jumped in with both feet.
Meg Walker isn’t like everyone one else. She has literally saved the world but when her “duty” was done so was she. Moving away and leaving everything and everyone behind her might have seemed like a great idea, at least it was until now. Twenty-five years have passed since that day when Meg closed the Hellgate, but now someone wants to open it back up. Only once you save the world once it’s easy to do it again. But now all those unresolved issues of her youth are back. Running was a temporary solution that ended the moment she returned to town.
Can Meg finally find closure? Resolve? What secrets will finally be revealed? While the beginning was building up this incredible world you quickly fall in love with Meg, she is rough around the edges, she has some flaws, and her past isn’t all rainbows and smiles. Life has been just that, life, a beautifully imperfect perfect that she doesn’t let keep her down. I truly cannot wait to see what will happen next in this series and will keep an eye out for any news so I can mark my calendar.

Not all Reunions are rainbows and sunshine.

Reunion: An Over Forty Urban Fantasy Novel is the first book in The Hellgate Chronicles. It is an urban fantasy full of action, suspense, mystery, intrigue, humor, friendship, redemption, personal growth, supernatural elements, and a nostalgic touch of ’80s pop culture. The story follows Meg Walker, a woman in her forties who, as a high school senior, closed a Hellgate and left her hometown behind. Now, 25 years later, she’s pulled back when someone attempts to reopen the gate, forcing her to face past friendships, lingering grudges, and her own unresolved issues—all while stopping an impending apocalypse. Meg’s return to her hometown isn’t just about stopping another apocalypse—it’s about confronting the past she ran from. She must face old friends, unresolved grudges, and the emotional baggage of leaving everything behind. Meg is a strong female character, and not your typical young, reckless hero. At 42, she’s sharp, cynical, and battle-worn, but still capable of kicking supernatural butt when duty calls. She’s sarcastic, fiercely independent, and unapologetically flawed, making her a refreshingly human character in a genre often dominated by youthful heroes. Meg’s journey isn’t just about fighting supernatural forces; it’s also about personal growth, redemption, and proving that saving the world isn’t just for the young. This book does a great job of blending supernatural action with real-life challenges, offering a witty, fast-paced adventure.

In her senior year of highschool, Meg closed a portal to hell. Once her job of being the gatekeeper came to a close, she took off never to go home again. That is until she was in her 40s and a comatose friend reached out to her psychically. Someone is trying to open the gate 20 some years later and it is up to Meg to once again make sure it stays closed.

Reluctantly, Meg returns home to do her duties of being the gatekeeper. Leaving at such a young age left a lot of loose ends in her hometown. Everything is different yet still the same and Meg is thrust back into a life she wanted to forget.

I absolutely loved this book for a number of reasons, especially the premise of the main character being in her forties. Too many times the main characters are in their twenties and although the books are still enjoyable, now that I am getting older, it's getting harder to connect with younger characters.

I adored Meg! She was a rough around the edges type of girl. She was witty, and a but coarse at times. The book itself was filled with unexpected twists and turns keeping you guessing. Full of action, humour, and emotional growth, you will definitely want to join Meg on this adventure!

This is the first book in its series even though sometimes it felt like I was reading a second book. This story picks up 25 years in the aftermath of saving the world. Meg Walker has found herself listless and without a purpose since she closed Hellgate and saved the world. She is determined to not return to Bellingham or even talk to her ride or die pals. Allison, Bianca, and Ziya are all gifted but remained behind when Meg left town. When Ziya tells Meg that someone is going to reopen the gate, Meg’s plans to stay away are shattered, and she must return. The story tells of their reunion and the ensuing battles to keep the gate closed. I liked that the story wasn’t about a young person saving the world. I also liked that the story showed what it feels like when someone doesn’t have a purpose. It showed that we are made to have relationships, that we need others in our life, and that we are better together. I didn’t like what seemed like an excessive amount of language. I didn’t like that at times Meg seemed rather whiny. Overall, it was an enjoyable book that I wanted to finish to find out what happened. I also really enjoyed the surprises and twists at the end.

This is the first book in The Hellgate Chronicles. I really enjoyed this book. It gave me the feeling of a Buffy the vampire slayer feel. One girl, the Chosen One who's job it is to stop the demons from escaping hell and destroying the world. It was captivating and I really felt for Meg as she struggles to return back to a place she thought she would never see again.
As a teenager Meg and her friends fought hard to close the Hellgate. Meg left town believing that her job was done and wanting to be as far away as she can be. However things change when she gets a message from her friend through a dream (maybe) that the Hellgate is about to reopen and Meg needs to return home to protect everyone again.
However returning home brings more challenges that just the dangerous demons wanting to destroy her. Add into the mix old romances, unresolved issues and friendships left it tatters and the Hellgate opening up this time seems easy compared to everything else she has to overcome.
This was a really unique and interesting story with paranormal elements and characters that you couldn't help being invested in. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Reunion is the first book in the Hellgate Chronicles. It is a supernatural urban fantasy about a woman, Meg, returning to the place she grew up after more than two decades away. As a teenager, she and her friends fought monsters and saved the world by sealing up the Hellgate, but now something’s threatening to undo their work and everything they sacrificed.

Reunion will appeal to readers who grew up on YA stories like Buffy the Vampire Slayer but are now looking for stories with older protagonists. It’s also a fun read for people who are still in the Young Adult age range looking for something a bit different!

There's some good world building in this story. Because Meg got to know different kinds of supernatural creatures and characters a long time ago, it feels like we're entering an established world and learning about things as we encounter them. There are also things that Meg thought she knew but that have changed, or she learns more about, and I'm looking forward to discovering more in the coming books.

Reunion gets five stars from me! I'd recommend it to fans of urban fantasy with more mature protagonists, like the Her Majesty's Royal Coven series.

"Reunion" is a fantastic start to a new series, The Hellgate Chronicles. I found it refreshing that the protagonists are women in their 40s who accomplished extraordinary things in their late teens. However, I felt like I might have missed a previous book because there were many references to events that happened when the women were teenagers, which weren't fully explained but still had a significant impact on their lives today.

It was intriguing to explore the aftermath of those events and how they shaped the women's lives, especially Meg. After closing the Hellgate as a teen, she left town and spent 25 years dealing with the trauma.

While there are many stories about young heroes saving the world, fewer delve into what happens afterwards and how to cope with the knowledge of past events. The women must find a way to overcome their grievances and mistrust to work together against a new threat—or is the old threat reemerging?

The complex interpersonal interactions feel genuine, drawing the reader into the narrative. At the same time, there is plenty of action to keep the story moving forward.

Reunion (The Hellgate Chronicles) by Jocelyn Lindsay - Review by Britney Humphreys
This is a 5* book for me. The way the author slowly gives snippets into the earlier days of the characters’ lives drew me into the story. I also love how the author wrote the animosity between the characters. There are deep wounds within the friendship that I believe Allison would love to fix, but I’m not sure if that will ever be possible. The cliffhanger is going to have me begging for the next book well before the Spring 2025 release date…I NEED to know what happens next. How will Meg handle everything that is being thrown at her? What will happen with the pack if she doesn’t fill out their paperwork? Will Bianca lose the giant chip on her shoulder or will it just keep getting bigger? What will happen with Ziya? How will Sam handle it when she inevitably finds out about all of the magic around her? I have so many questions that were not answered in the first book. The author has set things up for a beautiful series, and I’m along for the ride.

Reunion is the first book in The Hellgate Chronicles by Jocelyn Lindsay. As this appears to be the debut novel of Jocelyn Lindsay, I really didn’t know what I should expect from her writing, but the intriguing cover caught my eye, and the blurb held the promise of a great, supernatural, action-packed adventure- so I took a chance, snapped up a copy and dove right in.
This definitely made me think of Buffy the Vampire Slayer having to deal with the Hellgate (Hellmouth) opening again, returning to town after decades away- but now she’s hit her midlife and is a bit of a lonely, cynical, and jaded mess.
After closing the Hellgate decades earlier, Meg thought she was done with her hometown, but now things are stirring again, she returns to do what she does best, kickingbutt. But things are never quite that simple…. So, get set for an action- packed adventure where Meg deals with the paranormal, while grappling with some ‘real’ life challenges along the way.
Looking forward to continuing the series.
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Jocelyn Lindsay!

Reunion (The Hellgate Chronicles) by Jocelyn Lindsay
4 Stars

This is a fast paced supernatural tale with a heroine that is over forty. Can she ever kick butt! It is not your usual superhero story. These are the keepers of the Hellgate. Five friends closed the gate when they were in their late teens. Meg left town soon after. This story takes place twenty something years later. Meg is called back to town and now she has to deal with friends, family and the fallout of her leaving on top of trying to prevent the gate from opening again.

I loved the characters and their special powers that they had. There were real life problems and morally questionable decisions to be made. This is the first in the series but reads as if it were the second. I would have liked to read about the first time that they closed the gate. Besides that, the story was original. I have never read a book by this author before. I really enjoyed her writing and am looking forward to the second book in this series.

It's been 25 years since Meg Walker sealed the Hellgate or so she thought. She left town and never looked back. After a psychic call from her comatose best friend she reluctantly returns home. Being the chosen one was never easy then and won't be easy again. This time she has to deal with old friends and lovers, and her emotional baggage from her past. Will she be able to overcome it all and save her town again?

I LOVED this book. You know how sometimes you read a book and after you're finished you immediately want to go back and read it again - this one was it for me. From start to finish it pulled me in and I couldn't put it down. The storylines and characters were all amazing. Meg's journey from the start of the book is filled with so much character building and self learning it's hard not to root for her throughout the book. The side characters are also integral in making this story work. I hope we see more of their stories in the subsequent books. I can't believe I have to wait until 2025 for more of this series.

Reunion is the first novel of The Hellgate Chronicles and what an exciting read this was. Meg receives a psychic message from her best friend Ziya that she needs to come home and save the world… again. After more than twenty years, someone is trying to open the gate to Hell and as the gatekeeper, she is the only one who can keep it from happening. Although she has little desire to return, she answers the call and hopes it will be a quick in and quick out. There are too many unresolved issues surrounding her and her old friends, and she doesn’t want to deal with confronting the past she left behind. If only she could be so lucky!

I’ve loved paranormal and supernatural stories since I was young, but I am older now and it’s nice to read something about a character who is more relatable now in age and maturity, without the high school drama that’s typically a theme running parallel. Not that I don’t love those too, but it’s just nice for something different! I cannot wait to dive into book two!

Great first book ~ I LOVE MEG! She can be tough, raw and she surprised me. Our Meg was frozen in her mind on the memory of saving the world. She was the chosen one. She closed the Hellgate and thought she was finished. Now she is being dragged back to where it all began. To finish it for good and commit to her duty - save the world again. The beginning reminds me of one of my favorite TV shows of a young “savior”. Meg in her forties (which is why I chose this book) is carrying the weight of the world and the guilt of what happened in the past. Memories sometimes are what we want them to be and not what really happened. Choosing how to remember what happened, I believe helped Meg survive in the real cold world. She must live with the choices back then & now. She chooses to hide and not live. However, with the help of her gifted friends, she realizes her mistakes and what she must do. It does get done, with a twist at the end.

Reunion by Jocelyn Lindsay is the first book in The Hellgate Chronicles. The story begins with Meg receiving a psychic message from one of her best friends, who happens to be comatose, to return to the town where she grew up. As teens, Meg, along with her friends Allison, Bianca, Cece, and Ziya, who all have special powers, fought demons and closed the Hellgate. It was after that feat that Meg left town, never looking back. Ziya’s message to Meg was that the Hellgate was being opened again, and as the chosen one, Meg needed to ensure it stayed closed. In a town full of magical creatures, Meg comes face to face with her past while she and her friends try to protect Ziya’s daughter, all the while keeping the Hellgate closed and preventing it from being opened again. I love Meg! She is strong, independent, and invincible, literally. This book has so many twists and turns that once you think you have it all figured out, it goes in another direction. It will leave you wanting more!

Reunion by Jocelyn Lindsay is a unique take on a modern-day heroine and supernatural/paranormal story. Rather than a young teenage heroine, Reunion features Meg, a 40-something woman navigating life after a near apocalypse. 15 years after saving the world, Meg is back in her hometown, rather reluctantly, catching up with old friends (and enemies), saving the world again! The world building in this book is amazingly vivid and dramatic: I could see the metal rings of the Hellgate spinning slowly, feel the fear, distress, and exhilaration of Meg and her friends, and hear the eerie sounds of ghosts and demons. The characters in Reunion are at once, artfully realistic and yet, delightfully magical. Being newly over the age of 40, I found a deep connection with Meg and the girls navigating life, friendships, families, and more. I can’t wait to read more books by Jocelyn Lindsay.

What can I really say but, wow! Just finished and I must say one of the best books I’ve read in a long time. I laughed, I may have sniffled, I also was on the edge of my seat. Meg is one heck of a character. To be honest this is not a love story, there is some definite lusty moments however, this book is absolutely fantastic. Meg is visited by a friend psychically and told to come home. She comes back to find many things are different yet some things never change. The love she has for others she hides behind a tough exterior yet, you can feel so much from her. She’s sacrificed so much and she’s back to maybe save the world again. No spoilers, just read this, also thank you for this great read!!! Finally a new author that has me gripping the edge of my seat, as you should for the ride you’ll go on with Meg.

This first book is a slow starting story for me. At first I thought I had read out of order but then I figured out this is the author’s writing style, and I was hooked.

The action and adventure is not lacking as the main character and our heroine, Meg, returns to her childhood home town to save the world, again. But no one there is welcoming her back with open arms, not even her best friends. Since Meg left at 17, she put a huge strain on her relationships. Now, at 42, she is back but not really by choice. Meg has a lot of unraveling of past trauma to deal with, which in this book she does not do since closing The Hellgate again is more important. I hope book 2 brings her more peace.

I really enjoyed the supernatural beings in this story and look forward to what they may bring Meg and her friends in book 2.

Such a great start to an interesting series!! I can't wait to read more of this series! I was hooked quick. I'm curious to some of the back stories of the characters too! Meg has a visitor one night in a dream. It's her best friend who's in a coma. She tells her to go home because someone it trying to open the Hellgate. Again. Of course, she just wants to get in and get out, but that's too much to ask. She is in Pack territory, and they have a lot of new rules when it comes to supernaturals. And all the friends she left have some words for her too. And some secrets of their own that they've been keeping. Can she stop the person opening the Hellgate before anyone else gets hurt? Not a chance, but she's going to try anything she needs to, to close it. Even using cursed guns. I don't want to give anything away, but you have to read this! It is so good!! I can't wait for the next book!!!!

The twists and turns in Reunion pulled me in so fast. I honestly didn’t realize how much I would end up enjoying this book, but I couldn’t put it down! Meg’s take-no-shit attitude had me cheering for her, but the burden she carried and the guilt she held onto was heartbreaking. No wonder she stayed to herself.

Allison was such a light in this story. Her sweet charm stood out, but what I loved most was how she became the mediator and healer for everyone. It wasn’t just the physical healing—it was the way she helped people’s hearts too. And Bianca—her loyalty hit me hard. You can tell she cares so deeply, even when she puts up that tough persona to make you think she doesn’t. That’s what made her character so real and so easy to love.

This book had it all—twists, emotion, and characters that stick with you. Jocelyn Lindsey did an amazing job, and Reunion is an easy 5-star for me!

I received an advance reader copy of this spectacular novel - what follows is my honest opinion. If you enjoy kicka** female characters, you will love this book. Meg and her friends (especially Bianca and Allison) are wickedly funny, strong and independent. And they have powers - special powers that thankfully they use for good. But they are so human - many women will see themselves in these characters, or nod their heads when the characters reflect on their teen years and wild twenties. At least I did!
This book is chockablock full of humor, suspense, tragedy, action and intrigue. You'll be well-entertained and will find yourself asking the question "how far would I go, what am I prepared to risk, to save my friends and family from disaster?"
Highly recommended.
