A Little Christmas 3: Ralphie

Rate this book
Ralphie Davis, was never man enough for his father or worth his mother’s attention. His life began once he moved from his parents’ home and into his sister’s. Tess, his older sister, was the only one to ever give him the time of day. He really never fit in anywhere and with no path to follow, no outlet, or really anything he enjoyed, he was well and truly lost. Then one day, his sister took him to work with her and introduced him to a whole new world full of endless possibilities.

Had he finally found where he belonged?

Daddy Marcel Allard hadn’t been a daddy in ages. Consumed by grief after the loss of his husband and boy, when a cancer diagnosis quickly swept him away. He’d resigned himself to never put his heart on the line again. Nor step foot into the club they’d frequented until Miss Tess called and nearly begged him to help her pull off her first event, A Little’s Valentine’s party.

Reluctantly—and after much begging on her part—Marcel accepted and left the house after a stern warning to himself, you are there to work and nothing more. That all changed when he saw him. The cute little in the cookie monster pj’s looking lost until Jacob and Orion came to his rescue.

Briefly…

The tears are what drew Marcel to cradle the lost little in his arms, but those big, blue, tear-filled eyes are what would awaken his heart and breathe new life into his lonely old soul.

This book is part of A Little Season Three multi-author series. Each book in A Little Christmas is a standalone where every little is silly, unique, lovable, and downright adorable, so why not read them all?

This is an M/M story with mature content and a BDSM-like DD/LB dynamic

Daddy Marcel Allard hadn’t been a daddy in ages. Consumed by grief after the loss of his husband and boy, when a cancer diagnosis quickly swept him away. This is a short, but sweet story of how "little" Ralphie helped to mend "Daddy" Marcel's broken heart and in turn, found himself a kind and loving "Daddy". It was clever how Ralphie handled Marcel's past simply by including it as a part of their future. You can't help but love him right off. He was such a sweetheart.

Marcel had met Ralphie before, but he wasn't ready at that time to try having a "boy" again. With the encouragement of a few of his friends, he's finally ready to try it again. Marcel's backstory is very sad, but I liked how Ralphie included Marcel's past and kept Marcel's lost "boy", Elion's memory alive.

Ralphie is a very sensitive,19-year-old busboy. He's had no luck at all with relationship. He'd been left alone more times than he could count on both hands. His sister, Tessy. had been taking care of him, since their parents didn't want anything to do with either of them. Marcel Allard is a widower who is still grieving the loss of his last "boy", but there is just something about Ralphie that opens his heart to be maybe being able to fall in love again.

It was great seeing how much these characters cared about everything and especially about each other. Ralphie with his sensitive soul, and Marcel with his determination to help those that were less fortunate, makes this a really good Christmas story. It's an easy, quick read, with "feel good" feelings and true understanding.

* ⭐️

I was waiting for this book, since I loved A Little Christmas: Jacob and I really liked A Little Christmas 2: Orion's Secret. BUT, it disappointed me. It wasn't on the same level as the first two. It's as if the author had nothing to write and gave us this shallow story, without emotion or depth. It was also shorter, 12 chapters + epilogue that was about Tess, Ralphie's sister. (Jacob and Orion, had 17 chapters + epilogue).

I don't like that the characters' story begins in another book that is not either of the two previously mentioned, it was a love story released by the author, which I only discovered when reading this one, which left me very irritated and disappointed with the author.

The story begins with Ralphie, but when it moves on to Marcel, there is a gap, since he mentions that they met before, but it is not actually told here. The author only gives a few hints. That was low. I understand creating Christmas stories, in shared Christmas series with characters linked to their own series, but not telling part of the character's story that was thrown into another book that was not even about the characters in question was, at the very least, a shot in both feet. And the more I think about it, the angrier I get and the fewer stars I give it.

Ralphie's drama is not developed. Marcel's story and his loss are not developed. There are only a bunch of little pieces of information and events that are so emotionless and superficial that I almost abandoned the title. So different from Jacob's book. There is no way not to compare it, especially since it takes place in the same universe and the characters appear in this book.

Marcel is a Dad who lost his husband/Little 2 years ago and lives secluded in his house, suffering with his loss. We can't forget that he's filthy rich. Ralphie is a Little, the brother of the caretaker of the Littles' room at the club they all go to. He cries about everything. The suffering he went through with his parents has different intensities, depending on the author's interest. At first it's lighter, then it's bad, and at the end it's terrible. Besides, Ralphie is Little all the time, even though he's working, and everyone accepts that. But when he's used by some guys he meets on a dating app, even though they know about his mentality and neediness, his sister and friends don't intervene. It's the famous "let it happen and when it's convenient, we'll stop and use it to give weight to the story." But it didn't work. Because even that wasn't developed correctly.

Dual POV. 1st person. Ralphie and Marcel.
Daddy/Little dynamics.
Sex and compatibility: Colder than the North Pole.
Age games.
Age difference.
Social and financial differences.
Zero anguish.
Zero drama.
Zero emotion.

I'm going to pretend I didn't read this, so as not to put the author on my avoid list.

Enjoyment: ❤️❤️❤️

This book could've benefitted from some formatting. It was exhausting to read with the lack of paragraphs. Considering the blurb page, I guess no one had checked the final work.

The writing itself is good, albeit a bit cringy at times, but it's a sugary sweet holiday novella, so that's to be expected.

I didn't enjoy the characters. Marcel went from "I'm not ready to move on" to "I love you, Ralphie" in 0.001 seconds. Gave me whiplash.

Ralphie didn't read like a Little, he read like someone with developmental issues. There's nothing wrong with a Little who stays Little most of the time, but Ralphie barely had one scene where he showed even a bit of adulting capabilities. Sure, he's young, but 19-year-olds can usually deal with the day-to-day, at least to some extent.

I liked the story but it would've worked better had it been fleshed out a bit more. I would've appreciated a bit more time for Marcel to come to terms with his loss and accepting moving on with a new love. Cute novella still.

A LITTLE CHRISTMAS! SEASON THREE. A Multi Author Series by Award Winning Authors with the common theme being Littles. What a BEAUTIFUL SWEET story about Ralphie and Marcel. TL TRAVIS writes with such love for these Books. These are the type of Books I need during this time of year. Marcel is a heartbroken Daddy having lost his Boy to illness. Ralphie is a sweet abused young man with a heart of gold. This is just such a WONDERFUL story. I cried tears of happiness that these two have each other. This has an EPIC EPILOGUE!! I HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK AND THIS A LITTLE CHRISTMAS SEASON THREE SERIES!!!!!!!!!!

Adorable!

Oh my gosh, I had a smile on my face pretty much the entire time reading this adorable story. Ralphie is such a sweetheart. And I loved how much his sister Tess was there for him. Daddy Marcel had met Ralphie before, but wasn't ready at the time to try having a boy again. With the encouragement of a few friends, he's ready to try again. Ugh, his backstory is so sad. I loved how Ralphie embraced Marcel's past and helped keep Elion's memory alive. These two are so sweet and big hearted. It was great seeing Jacob, Orion, and their daddies again.

This was a very sweet story. Ralphie is a 19 year old busboy who is very sensitive. His had no luck with relationship, because as soon as they get what they want they leave. His sister Tessy has been taking care of him, since their parents don't want anything to do with them. Marcel Allard is a widower still grieving, but something about Ralphie, opens up his heart to maybe fall in love again. I loved how much these characters cared so much. Ralphie with a sensitive soul, and Marcel determined to help those less fortunate. Really a good Christmas story.

4.5 stars A great story.
Bonus points for the blurb in front of the book which I love.

Ralphie 19 yrs was a little without has Daddy but worked as a busboy at a diner nearby. A while ago he visited his sister at work to find he was a Little.
Daddy Marcel 47 yrs, was mourning his past boy but now needed to find love again. A work meeting dinner with colleagues would change things for him.
A second chance, Daddy and Little relationship.

This was such a sweet Christmas story or two lost souls finding each other. It's always fun when characters from previous stories make an appearance im new ones, although you don't need to have read their books. This was a heartwarming story.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily gave my honest review.

i'm enjoying reading but almost 30 years age gap is a little too much for me. They'll live happily ever after for a.. 20? 30 years? which is great. But Ralphie will probably lose his Daddy in his 40-50th. And somehow i doubt that he'll find himself a new one at this age. I don't know why i'm stuck at this gloomy future image
Anyway it's a good Christmas read :)

A cute Christmas story of a little with shitty parents who lives with his sister and a guy whose still mourning the death of his little. They are pushed together a bit by wellmeaning friends and off they go. Pretty simple but a feel-good Christmas tale.
